The Guardian for this meeting was Bruce Mowbray. The comments are by Bruce Mowbray.

    Bruce Mowbray: Hello!
    Qt Core: Hi Bruce
Bruce Mowbray: My very pedestrian typist wants to brag about something he's just accomplished.
    Qt Core: :-)
    Bruce Mowbray: :--))
Bruce Mowbray: He FINALLY wrote a space-filling algorithm.... that WORKS!
Bruce Mowbray: (filling a space with none-overlapping circles....)
Bruce Mowbray: Actually, he's running it right now....
Bruce Mowbray: would you care to see a photo?
Qt Core: yes, wouldn't they need to be infinite with an infinite decreasing radius for a finite space ?

[I thought Qt's instant supposition was both astute and brilliant -- and exactly what I had to learn to write this algorithm:  as larger circles hogged the available space, only smaller - and ever smaller - circles would be able to find their places within the form….]

Bruce Mowbray: (fewer than 1,000 interations left!)
    Bruce Mowbray: Oh dear!
    Bruce Mowbray: Yikes!
Bruce Mowbray: Well, I don't think my T's space is infinite, actually.
Bruce Mowbray: [Running it again, now....]
Qt Core: you are going to melt your cpu, you know ? ;-)
    Bruce Mowbray: ha ha!
Bruce Mowbray: Well, I figure that if SL doesn't melt it, then nothing will.
Bruce Mowbray: How are happenings in Italy?
    Qt Core: that's true too

    --BELL--

Qt Core: nothing much.  hell at home (as usual lately), ignoring most of what happens outside
    Bruce Mowbray: :)
Qt Core: just discovered that we will have cold weather and maybe even snow this week
    Bruce Mowbray: Oh dear.
Bruce Mowbray: Over here in the colonies, we're having the worst cold snap in three decades.
Bruce Mowbray: My T sleeps in a goose-down sleeping bag every night....
Bruce Mowbray: snug as a bug (or a LUG - which is more what he is, actually).
Qt Core: yeah, I've seen some videos of Canadians having to wear flannel shirts outside as it went down to -43C
    Qt Core: ;-)
    Bruce Mowbray: THAT IS COLD!

(Btw: Did you know that 40 below zero Fahrenheit is also exactly 40 below zero Celsius? --

There's a little trivia to pull on your warm-weather friends!)

Bruce Mowbray: kk, now I'm going to do a screen-save of the space-filling result...
Bruce Mowbray: and send it along to you....
Bruce Mowbray: (This is for my T's desperately suffering ego, you understand....)
Bruce Mowbray: So, please be nice.
Qt Core: ego, a dear silly friend
    Bruce Mowbray: Oh yeah.
    Bruce Mowbray: What a dramatist!
    Qt Core: quite vocal too
Bruce Mowbray: kk, now uploading image....
Bruce Mowbray: kk, I think it is here now.
    Bruce Mowbray: There you are.

    circles_3.png

Qt Core: so they ARE decreasing in radius
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, the space available decreases, so the size of the circles also needs to decrease - I mean, if any more are to be drawn.

Bruce Mowbray: Only so many fat cats in the neighborhood, as it were.
Qt Core: reminds me about marble floors and carbonated water
Bruce Mowbray: Please say more about marble floors and carbonated water, Qt.
Bruce Mowbray: Or, are you just saying that's how the graphic looks?
Bruce Mowbray: Bubbles and marble floors....
Bruce Mowbray: I should have named the program that!
    Qt Core: yes
Bruce Mowbray: "Space-filling circles" seems so prosaic.
Bruce Mowbray: compared to marble and bubbles....
    Qt Core: :-)
Bruce Mowbray: Do you recall when the theme group on the movie "her" is supposed to be held?
    Qt Core: no
Bruce Mowbray: kk. I thought it might be tomorrow.
Bruce Mowbray: But I saw another really EXCELLENT movie this week.
Bruce Mowbray: The first title for it was "The Philosophers,"
Bruce Mowbray: but then they changed it to "After the Dark" (or something close to that.)
Bruce Mowbray: I will find a link.
Qt Core: with all the mail i get at work i end up almost ignoring the personal addresses when i'm at home
    Bruce Mowbray: Hmmmm.
    Qt Core: Hi Fc
    FcSeeker Resident: hI ALL
    FcSeeker Resident: ah...bad button
FcSeeker Resident: or two wide fingers...
    Bruce Mowbray: Heya FC!
    FcSeeker Resident: too wide...
Bruce Mowbray: Long time NO See!
    FcSeeker Resident: *
Bruce Mowbray having a bit of problem with my viewer at the moment.... brb after the drop.

    --BELL--

    Qt Core: ok
    FcSeeker Resident: **
Bruce Mowbray: Anyway, here is the movie I was talking about:
    Bruce Mowbray: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1928340/?ref_=nv_sr_1
    Bruce Mowbray: Brilliantly made.
    Qt Core: a happy theme
Qt Core: i really hope they would quote Asimov/HAry Seldon ;-)
Bruce Mowbray: Not so happy a theme, actually. But the way the movie deals with its own "thought experiments" is really remarkable -- and excellent.
Bruce Mowbray: They DO quote a few folks!
Bruce Mowbray: Gotta remember that this is a class of high school seniors - really BRIGHT kids, too. And they are working through some thought experiments that their philosophy teacher has devised for them.
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
Bruce Mowbray: Why can't I see Fc yet?
Qt Core: it seems there are server issues and its avatar seem to be the most affected
Bruce Mowbray: Is Fc suffering from radiation?
    Bruce Mowbray: Hmmm. kk, thanks.
Qt Core: i see the bubble today and partially yesterday too
Bruce Mowbray: better than radiation, I suppose.

Bruce Mowbray: Do the particles have to be enabled in order for you to see the bubbles?

    Qt Core: bubbles ?
    FcSeeker Resident: ...
Bruce Mowbray: I haven't seen the fountain in weeks, and I supposed that was the reason.
    FcSeeker Resident: bubbles ?
    Bruce Mowbray: fountain bubbles?
Qt Core: don't know, but i keep my graphic settings quite high
Bruce Mowbray: I will check mine because I'm missing a lot, I think.
Bruce Mowbray: HOW ARE YOU, FC!?
Bruce Mowbray: Haven't seen you for ever so long!
    Bruce Mowbray: Yikes!
Qt Core: now there is no fountain
    FcSeeker Resident: silent today....
Bruce Mowbray: Hmmm. Silent is useful...
Bruce Mowbray: Just ask John Cage about that.
    Bruce Mowbray: ha ha!
Bruce Mowbray: (finished reading a wonderful biography of John Cage just last night, actually).
Bruce Mowbray: "Where the Heart Beats" by Kay Larson.
    Bruce Mowbray: REALLY fine book.
    Bruce Mowbray: http://www.amazon.com/Where-Heart-Beats-Buddhism-Artists-ebook/dp/B0064W5NYQ
Bruce Mowbray: It is rare that I feel impelled to write to authors, but this is one of those times.
FcSeeker Resident: can this 'impelled' be said with other words ?
    Bruce Mowbray: Yes, of course.
FcSeeker Resident: even I might have 'guessed'
Bruce Mowbray: I feel "moved" by the excellence of her writing to write to the author.
FcSeeker Resident: that you want to
    FcSeeker Resident: ***<3<3<3***
    Bruce Mowbray: :)))
FcSeeker Resident: ...this little panda seems to be too old to learn anything easyily anymore...
FcSeeker Resident: but still can understand....seems so
Bruce Mowbray: Fc, I think you are the only avi who has sat on that pillow in the past year or more!
    FcSeeker Resident: *
Bruce Mowbray: I only wish I could SEE you.

    --BELL--

FcSeeker Resident: well; I still am a panda
FcSeeker Resident: Wol told it to be server prob
FcSeeker Resident: but I can try tis 'pre... thing again if it helps this time
    FcSeeker Resident: any better ?
    Bruce Mowbray: nope, sry.
Bruce Mowbray: Still looking like a radio-active egg.
Bruce Mowbray: an enormous radio-active egg, actually.. . Wondering if a dinosaur might pop out at any minute.
FcSeeker Resident: this any better ? :)
    Bruce Mowbray: nope, sry.
    Bruce Mowbray: OH WAIT!
FcSeeker Resident: hmm...did you get the photo ?
Bruce Mowbray: Now I see your photo!
Bruce Mowbray: I had been looking at the avi.
    FcSeeker Resident: giggles
    Bruce Mowbray: (the radio-active avi.)
    FcSeeker Resident: sure
    FcSeeker Resident: ***
Bruce Mowbray: Am so happy to discover  you're not radioactive, Fc!
FcSeeker Resident: just kidding, but maybe the photo still is a bit better....or ?
    Bruce Mowbray: YAYYY!
Bruce Mowbray: The photo is GREAT!
Bruce Mowbray: and thanks for sharing it!

    FcSeeker Resident: ...as young...
    FcSeeker Resident: hm
FcSeeker Resident: or at least many years less lived :)
    Bruce Mowbray: Ahhhhh! B-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l!!!

    Fc_bride.png

FcSeeker Resident: I saw so when I looked at that photo being more than 50...
FcSeeker Resident: but didn't see so when I lived that time
Bruce Mowbray: Now, I will not post those in the wiki without your permission, of course.
FcSeeker Resident: as my sis was so beautiful
Bruce Mowbray: That is your sis?
    FcSeeker Resident: no
Bruce Mowbray: I thought that was YOU!
FcSeeker Resident: but she was the beautiful one
FcSeeker Resident: that is me, yes.
Bruce Mowbray: ohhh. I see what you're saying now.
Bruce Mowbray: The young girl in this photo is truly beautiful...
Bruce Mowbray: and in deep ways, too, I can tell.
FcSeeker Resident: My new husband said that my eyes are awesome...
    FcSeeker Resident: meaning them 'today'...
Bruce Mowbray: Both your younger eyes and your eyes today are awesome.
FcSeeker Resident: ...felt quite odd for that...
    Bruce Mowbray: hmmmm.
    FcSeeker Resident: ohhhhhh
    FcSeeker Resident: ohhhhh
Bruce Mowbray: When people see MY eyes, they say, "POTATOES have eyes like thine. How ELSE might they so shine?"
FcSeeker Resident: ...I have not liked my eyes...so many ppl turn 'away' if I watch....like my eyes would burn ....
    FcSeeker Resident: loooooooool
Bruce Mowbray: Is it very cold where you are, Fc?
Bruce Mowbray: We are having the worst cold snap in three decades, here.
FcSeeker Resident: it was for few days
FcSeeker Resident: and they say that should be next week again
FcSeeker Resident: but up to half of Jan it was 'only raining'
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, another "polar vortex" coming here next week for us, too.
Bruce Mowbray: They are calling for up to (or DOWN to) 40 below zero.

    Encore:

(Btw: Did you know that 40 below zero Fahrenheit is also exactly 40 below zero Celsius? -- There's a little trivia to pull on your warm-weather friends.)

FcSeeker Resident: ah; here in Finland such cold would've been normal already before x-mas, and just continuing
FcSeeker Resident: but there's been news from USA; there's been colder in Georgia than here
    FcSeeker Resident: lol
Bruce Mowbray: I have a good friend living in Alaska...
Bruce Mowbray: and they have been in the 40's (Fahrenheit) all week.
    FcSeeker Resident: ***
    Bruce Mowbray: (40's ABOVE zero.)
Bruce Mowbray: Hey, good people, I really do need to go now.
Bruce Mowbray: RL is calling with obligations and responsibilities.
    FcSeeker Resident: oh...
Bruce Mowbray: Thank you both for being here.
Bruce Mowbray: Stay well and stay warm, OK?

    --BELL--

    FcSeeker Resident: U 2
Qt Core: for me it'll be only sleep, but still a call to answer
    FcSeeker Resident: ah yes
Qt Core: Bye Bruce, bye Fc
    FcSeeker Resident: bye
    Bruce Mowbray: Bye for now!
