The Guardian for this meeting was Calvino Rabeni. The comments are by Calvino Rabeni.

Round One:  An opening may or may not result in something rushing to fill it.

    Calvino Rabeni: Greetings, Benedizione.
    --BELL--
    Benedizione Vita: hello calvino
Benedizione Vita: is there a malta retreat session tonight?
Calvino Rabeni: The next one is 1PM SLT tomorrow.
Calvino Rabeni: So, tonight the circle is completely open for anything :)
    Benedizione Vita: I see
Benedizione Vita: there seems to be a lot of openness, and not a lot of anything ;)
Calvino Rabeni: Openness is a yin in this case, for people here to provide the yang.
Calvino Rabeni: See, it is the opposite of many social situations
Calvino Rabeni: If you were to fill the openness, how might you do it?
    --BELL--
Benedizione Vita: hmmm, well sometimes I might say something, but tonight I am going to play possum :)
Benedizione Vita: have a great night, calvino
Calvino Rabeni: You too, Bene :)
    Benedizione Vita: thanks :)

Round Two:  Calvino is sitting in the PaB pavilion and in northwestern USA and in a dream somewhere in the mountains of southeast Asia.  The dream appears like this:

    Round Three:  Looking at Seeing

    Calvino Rabeni: Hello Stevenaia
stevenaia Michinaga: hello, rezzing till I sit down
    --BELL--
stevenaia Michinaga: sunday nights can be peaceful aand quiet here
stevenaia Michinaga: one reason I had no problem with sunday nights (and wednesdays)
Calvino Rabeni: What is your preference?
    stevenaia Michinaga: both
stevenaia Michinaga: until someone else had a preference
stevenaia Michinaga: sometiems the best choices are made by others
Calvino Rabeni: So the ones you enjoy the most are quiet, but you respond to influences that others bring.
stevenaia Michinaga: I sometimes belive that
    stevenaia Michinaga: it varies
stevenaia Michinaga: like the time I was for the 1:00 session, bearly awake yet couldn't stop talking
stevenaia Michinaga: I think you were there
Calvino Rabeni: Well I may have been, but don't recall any "chatterbox" Steve :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: grins
Calvino Rabeni: I have a habit, of when the group is large, kind of tuning out.
Calvino Rabeni: Some of my favorite sessions have been conversational groups of 2 - 5 people.
stevenaia Michinaga: sometime I just enjoy listening
Calvino Rabeni: How about a story then.
    stevenaia Michinaga: sending or receiving?
Calvino Rabeni: You said you enjoy listening - but sure, either way
    stevenaia Michinaga: happy to listen
stevenaia Michinaga: I was just "listening" to pema's recount of the retreat before I got here
Calvino Rabeni: Reading the chat log?
    stevenaia Michinaga: nods
stevenaia Michinaga: sometimes I do actully have the computer "read" them back to me
Calvino Rabeni: And might I ask - what main impression did you have with it?
stevenaia Michinaga: sounds like an amazing place from the photos I saw on a Malta website and hearing the impressions
stevenaia Michinaga: a retreat on an ancient land with that early history sounds amazing
Calvino Rabeni: Yes, I had no idea. I did likewise, looking online, and it caused the desire to travel to stir in me once more
stevenaia Michinaga: I could see it infuencing much of what one "sees"
    stevenaia Michinaga: yes
    --BELL--
Calvino Rabeni: Travel is a dream, hopefully a lucid one
stevenaia Michinaga: unfortunately travel is currently difficult due to recent financial constraints
Calvino Rabeni: Same for me, I believe, but if motivated enough, I might be able to do it "on the cheap" and take the hit on my finances, borrowing from the future for the present.
stevenaia Michinaga: san francisco in april does sound inviting too, one of my favorite places
Calvino Rabeni: I like going back there
Calvino Rabeni: I used to live in the area, so it feels somewhat home-like.
Calvino Rabeni: I was recently organizing some travel photos and uploading them - maybe I was stirred by the malta retreat into vicarious "travel envy"
Calvino Rabeni: Looking at the photos I felt a bit transported though.
Calvino Rabeni: Have you ever seen the first "claymation" animation? It's about the pictures in a museum taking to life.
stevenaia Michinaga: if I did it was a long time ago
stevenaia Michinaga: and have only a vauge memory
stevenaia Michinaga: is it in youtube?
    Calvino Rabeni: 1975 I think - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_VTdhgrpFU
Calvino Rabeni: Since then, when I look at pictures, I let my imagination go active.
Calvino Rabeni: I remember it reframing my notion of what "seeing" is.
stevenaia Michinaga: I think gumby pre-dates this
Calvino Rabeni: Yes, that is technically clay figure animation
Calvino Rabeni: And it was regarded as a kind of breakthrough too, I've heard.
    --BELL--
    stevenaia Michinaga: nice thanks
Calvino Rabeni: During the bell I was applying to the experience of viewing travel photos
Calvino Rabeni: PaB dropping practice it seems, has lots of handy "applications" :)
stevenaia Michinaga: or dropping applies nicely or PaB practice
Calvino Rabeni: Hmm, not sure your meaning, is it "dropping PaB" ?
    stevenaia Michinaga: nicely to... rather
    stevenaia Michinaga: if that helps
Calvino Rabeni: I was noticing the appearance of a photo as an appearance of an appearance - pardon the somewhat convoluted sounding jargon there
stevenaia Michinaga: to comes with he turf
    stevenaia Michinaga: :)
Calvino Rabeni: right, guess so :)
stevenaia Michinaga: unfortunately I must go
Calvino Rabeni: thanks for stopping by :)
stevenaia Michinaga: have a good evening
    Calvino Rabeni: You too Stevenaia
