The Guardian for this meeting was Xirana Oximoxi. The comments are by Xirana Oximoxi.

Xirana Oximoxi: 's current display-name is "Xirana".
    Xirana Oximoxi: hello Louis
    Louis Onyett: Hi Xirana
Xirana Oximoxi: nice to see you here :-)
Louis Onyett: Nice to see you here, too.
    Xirana Oximoxi: thanks :-)
    Louis Onyett: Peaceful this AM.
Xirana Oximoxi: yes :-) and peace is the related topic for this week and next one :-)
Louis Onyett: Inner peace or outer ?
Xirana Oximoxi: I think it can be both... but maybe more related to the outside
Louis Onyett: Ahh, that is a tougher one, in some ways.
Louis Onyett: we cannot dictate it
Xirana Oximoxi: in my view, we can relate both because probably a person with inner peace is a good contribution to the outer too
    Louis Onyett: True
Xirana Oximoxi: the topic is really open, can you read it on the panel?
Louis Onyett: The issue seems to me is that we can try, but cannot control our own Gov't
    Louis Onyett: Hmmmm
Xirana Oximoxi: "things that present obstacles to world peace"
    Xirana Oximoxi: Gov't= governments?
    Louis Onyett: yes
    Louis Onyett: opps
    Louis Onyett: lol
    Xirana Oximoxi: :-))
Xirana Oximoxi: do you know how to 'zoom'?
Xirana Oximoxi: without moving from your sit, I mean
Louis Onyett: Yeah, just clumsy this am.
    Xirana Oximoxi: hehe ok :-))
    Louis Onyett: Well, obstacles
    Xirana Oximoxi: I am thinking....
Xirana Oximoxi: I have the idea the 'violence' is part of human behaviour...but probably we can control it, what it seems we are not doing well
Louis Onyett: In places with sufficient food, water, shelter, etc, violence is less prevalent
Xirana Oximoxi: also...actually...too much economical interests hidden behind other purposes some try to make us believe
    Xirana Oximoxi: yes...you're right
Louis Onyett: Perhaps one thing that blocks peace is sufficient food etc for citizens
Louis Onyett: Poverty leads to discontent and often that can be manipulated
Xirana Oximoxi: yes...poverty also conduces (leads) to less education and then more easy to manipulate people
Louis Onyett: So, helping to end poverty is certainly a worthwhile endevour that should lead to more peace
Xirana Oximoxi: both verbs are correct...to lead and to conduce :-)..I was checking the dictionnary
Louis Onyett: Double word score for conduce
    Louis Onyett: :D
Xirana Oximoxi: I have no idea what discussions they have been having during the week,... I also think personal atitude is the only way we have to contribute improve things...
    --BELL--
Louis Onyett: That is where I agree, but it is so tricky
Xirana Oximoxi: as you told first...very difficult to control what governments do
Louis Onyett: It begs the question what peace do we mean?
Xirana Oximoxi: in what sense do you think it is tricky?
    Xirana Oximoxi: yes
Louis Onyett: There is peace here at home...and then international peace
Louis Onyett: External peace could even mean within a family or group
Louis Onyett: As you said, it must start from within
Xirana Oximoxi: yes...and between neigbourgs :-)
Xirana Oximoxi: a lot of fighting for what may seem 'simplel' daily things
Louis Onyett: Perhaps, focusing on individuals, and helping them to achieve 'peace' is the only true way
Louis Onyett: we can make a difference on a single person level
Louis Onyett: Social programs to help people get education, food, meaningful work, etc
Louis Onyett: Things we can do to help lead to peace
Xirana Oximoxi: yes... that' is the best way
Xirana Oximoxi: not easy to realise in rl when economical situation is so bad in a lot of places
    Louis Onyett: Also, dancing. LOL
Xirana Oximoxi: yes...it's also very important!!!
    Xirana Oximoxi: :-))
Louis Onyett: Hard to be angry with music and dancing
Xirana Oximoxi: we can 'jump to the other topic...and relate it to peace too...'passion and reason, emotions and mind' :-) wow..what big topics for this week! :-)
Santoshima Resident: 's current display-name is "San".
Louis Onyett: Yes, well passion ...starting there. It is a fruit, correct?
    Santoshima Resident: greetings
    Louis Onyett: Aloha
Xirana Oximoxi: well...there's a fruit here we call the fruit of passion :-)
    Xirana Oximoxi: hello San
    Santoshima Resident: hello Xir
    Santoshima Resident: and Louis
    Santoshima Resident: passion, please continue
Louis Onyett: We were jumping topics, and passion is an interesting one, versus reason I suppose
Xirana Oximoxi: I've sent a notecard
    Louis Onyett: Passion seems primal
Louis Onyett: Linked tightly with emotion
Xirana Oximoxi: this is the fruit of passion http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...flavicarpa.jpg
Louis Onyett: and required for any true vocation
Santoshima Resident: just read notecard, thanks Xirana
    Xirana Oximoxi: you're welcome :-)
Louis Onyett: Must have passion and feeling to go on to be motivated, to work
Xirana Oximoxi: yes.. motivation is very important to work, to create, to enjoy things
Louis Onyett: Nice fruit, but more of a flower at this point.
    Louis Onyett: :-)
Xirana Oximoxi: this is the flower that becomes a fruit
Louis Onyett: Of course there is passion as in love, or hate.
Xirana Oximoxi: the word passion comes from latin and it meant 'suffering'...in the midle ages passion was seen as an illness
    --BELL--
Xirana Oximoxi: philosophers were having great discussions about the role of emotions and the rol of mind...but I am not expert on their ideas
Louis Onyett: Latest interesting news I heard related to reason and emotion was due to findings from sleep research
Xirana Oximoxi: Descartes topic sentece...'I think then I exist'
Louis Onyett: Our brain stem appears to be active and helps sort out emotions associated with memories
    Xirana Oximoxi: oh..interesting
Louis Onyett: So, emotions are from a more primitive area of the brain, one associated with hunger etc
Louis Onyett: and the prefrontal cortex must process that and 'regulate' it
Xirana Oximoxi: the basic needs of human's body?..to eat, to drink
Louis Onyett: point being, I guess, emotions are quite important, and strong
    Xirana Oximoxi: I think so
Louis Onyett: and, during sleep, our ability to regulate these emotions is regenerated
    Santoshima Resident: Literacy
    Santoshima Resident: clean air
    Santoshima Resident: clean land
Louis Onyett: So reason and emotion are integrated, but separate
    Santoshima Resident: clean water
    Santoshima Resident: basics
Louis Onyett: Yes, basics are required for people to be peaceful...
Xirana Oximoxi: do you think there's more superiority of one of them to our behaviour or understanding?
    Xirana Oximoxi: reason or emotions
Louis Onyett: People talk of 'checking' emotions
Louis Onyett: I think because they are stronger than our reason in cases
Xirana Oximoxi: 'checking' in what sense...studying them?
    Louis Onyett: No, restraining them
    Xirana Oximoxi: aha..I see
    Xirana Oximoxi: yes....
    Xirana Oximoxi: :-)
    Louis Onyett: touchy sl jeeez
    Xirana Oximoxi: hehe
Xirana Oximoxi: I thought you were dancing onigokko :-)
    Louis Onyett: Accidentally, perhaps
    Xirana Oximoxi: :-)
Louis Onyett: Back to peace, music and dancing are awfully good things
    Louis Onyett: lol
Xirana Oximoxi: yes ... they help people get free of tensions and stress
Xirana Oximoxi: do you like to go dancing, Louis, San?
Louis Onyett: Hmmmm, some delivery system over battlefields that get soldiers to sing and dance
    --BELL--
Louis Onyett: We have figured out the answer to world peace, nearly. :-D
    Xirana Oximoxi: :-)
Xirana Oximoxi: some tribes used to have 'war dances' before to go fighting..so maybe our answer would not work well there :-)
Louis Onyett: And, yes, we should stipulate the music played to avoid that type of dance
    Xirana Oximoxi: yes :-)
Xirana Oximoxi: do you play music, Louis?
Louis Onyett: I wish I did. Really enjoy it. Never tried an instrument.
    Louis Onyett: And you?
Xirana Oximoxi: I tried...but I was not good, it was very difficult to me....
Xirana Oximoxi: I tryied to learn to play guitar at a jazz school
Xirana Oximoxi: but I gave up :-)
Louis Onyett: Two of my brothers are good musicians-one a guitar
Louis Onyett: The other a piano
Louis Onyett: I was more sports I guess
Xirana Oximoxi: wonderful! it's great to have musiciens in the family
Louis Onyett: It is-fun when they play
    Xirana Oximoxi: yes :-)
Louis Onyett: Funny topic, keep thinking is SL time here
Louis Onyett: But yikes, actually later
Xirana Oximoxi: it is late for you?
Louis Onyett: Just later than 0752. :-)
Louis Onyett: Nearly 10AM. Morning has flown
Xirana Oximoxi: here it is 16:53 :-)
Xirana Oximoxi: ahh your breakfast time then :-)
Louis Onyett: Thought I saw a s where should have been a z.
    Louis Onyett: ;-)
Louis Onyett: Was in Ireland just a week ago.
Louis Onyett: Same time as you.
    Louis Onyett: +6 from here.
Xirana Oximoxi: ahh then you must readapt to your time
Louis Onyett: Yep, going over there was terrible since you leave at noon Saturday and get there at 0430 Sunday AM.
Louis Onyett: Have to stay up for >24 hrs.
    Xirana Oximoxi: :-)
Xirana Oximoxi: did you stay long in Ireland?
Louis Onyett: Nice to see Ireland at peace. Was there for a week.
Louis Onyett: I remember all the troubles before they settled.
Xirana Oximoxi: ahh yes... a week is enough time to visit pacefully
Louis Onyett: Such a beautiful place fore all that violence
Xirana Oximoxi: oh yes....and for so long time
Louis Onyett: Strange, since it doesn't seem like the British really run the place.
    Louis Onyett: Seems totally Irish.
Louis Onyett: Was a wonderful place, at least where I was.
Xirana Oximoxi: religion is sometimes a 'difficult' or 'used' matter to justify fights
Louis Onyett: Yes-terrible irony when religion is used for violence.
Xirana Oximoxi: I've never been there..but I've seen fotos and my sister has a daughter that studied there and she went to visit and took fotos...very nice country
Louis Onyett: Very interesting area of the world, too. So many countries so close.
Xirana Oximoxi: a must visit place :-)
    Louis Onyett: Absolutely.
Louis Onyett: Neat that for the most part everyone is at peace.
Xirana Oximoxi: have you been to Spain'
    Xirana Oximoxi: ?
Louis Onyett: No ma'am. Only Ireland.
    Xirana Oximoxi: ok :-)
    --BELL--
Louis Onyett: Was supposed to go to Exeter last spring, but trip cancelled.
Xirana Oximoxi: I've only been to London... one day I'll have to visit UK; Ireland...etc.
Louis Onyett: What did you think of London?
Xirana Oximoxi: I think is a nice city, with a lot of museums and gardens....I liked it, but I guess the rest of cities of England are more paceful
    Xirana Oximoxi: maybe :-)
Louis Onyett: Ah, peaceful, that sounds nice, and ties back to our topic.
Xirana Oximoxi: cities are cities...if they are big, they are a bit stressing
    Louis Onyett: Amen,
    Xirana Oximoxi: hehe
    Louis Onyett: small cities rule.
Xirana Oximoxi: yes... but London you can enjoy the gardens which makes you feel like being in the country too...it does not happen in Barcelona, for exemple
Xirana Oximoxi: the gardens here are very small
Louis Onyett: That sounds nice. Gardens are wonderful. I like mine when I have time to plant it etc
Xirana Oximoxi: well..I live in the country...and when I stay two days in Barcelona I need 'air to breathe :-)' :-))
Louis Onyett: Understand that. I live in a small city, with farmland almost always a stones throw away.
    Xirana Oximoxi: that's good
Louis Onyett: Have some relatives that farm still
Xirana Oximoxi: I must go now Louis...thanks a lot for the nice time chatting pacefully :-)
Louis Onyett: Was wonderful, and I should get to. Bye.
Xirana Oximoxi: have a nice weekend :-)
    Xirana Oximoxi: bye bye
