The Guardian for this meeting was Eden Haiku. The comments are by Eden Haiku.

    Set in TIme.jpg

On this longest day of the year, I took this photo hours after the morning session of this log. The special session of "Being as Time" has already taken place:  Bleu, Steve and I are having an after-hours conversation as we contemplate a photo Storm took during the photo exhibit session. The photo evokes the moment where Fael recreated the enchanting moment she once created in cooperation with Moon, which is the subject of Pema's photo in the exhibit. Fael sang for us ( three times  no less, for our delight!) the most wonderful magical song, connecting PaB's past to its future through a timeless moment.  Another enchanting moment set in Time :-).

    Father's Day

Eden Haiku: Hey Yaku! Nice to see you:)

    Yakuzza Lethecus: hey eden

Yakuzza Lethecus: how are you today ?

Eden Haiku: Good. My house guests are taking a walk now. :) We had a wonderful day yesterday.

Eden Haiku: It is my father and his lady friend. She is so nice, a real pleasure to have her around!

Eden Haiku: I realize how important it is to spend time, lots of time with people. Things unravel naturally and conversations go deeper.

    Yakuzza Lethecus: yes

Yakuzza Lethecus: but how to preserve the natural and pleasant conversations

Eden Haiku: My father is a conversational challenge: he keeps telling terrible stories, catastrophies, accidents and the likes. But she makes everything light and smoothens everything :)

Eden Haiku: He is a very anxious man but when she is around he smiles a lot more :)

Eden Haiku: Did you celebrate Father's Day in Germany?

    Yakuzza Lethecus: oh, no :)

Yakuzza Lethecus: it's just a day when you carry beer in a little waggon :)

Eliza Madrigal: Hi Eden and Ya :)

    Yakuzza Lethecus: hey eliza :)

Eden Haiku: I see a beautiful dress rezzing and yes, it is our favorite chatterbox (so says her hovertext), sweet Eliza!

Eden Haiku: laughs at Yaku's last remark.

Yakuzza Lethecus: and you go hiking with that waggon :)

Eliza Madrigal: :::beams::: So glad you were able to sign on Eden, and what beautiful clothing you are wearing too!

    Eden Haiku: :-))

Eden Haiku: Thanks. Yes, Eliza, I even installed the wireless all by myself and it works beautifully!

Eliza Madrigal: I've been looking through hotel sites here in Miami... really would love to have the Jan retreat here

    Eliza Madrigal: Wow, impressive! :)

Eden Haiku: I tried to use the laptop outside but there was too much light. It is a a marvelous sunny day.

Eliza Madrigal gets frazzled setting up networking and things

Eliza Madrigal: Ah, nice! What temps?

Eden Haiku: A retreat in Miami, how lovely!

Eden Haiku: It is about 24

Eliza Madrigal: yes, in January would be nice, except that it can be so expensive. I found one place really reasonable by the beach, but hm... a bit of a party spot :)

Eden Haiku: My father is walking his little dog with his lady friend and making friends with neighbours...

Eden Haiku: A party spot oh oh...we could do a lot of onigokko in RL too then :)

Eliza Madrigal: 24*... sounds perfect, and yes in that weather I'd be wandering too

Eliza Madrigal: He sounds wonderful, your father... so friendly and alive

    --BELL--

RL and virtual retreats, Internet meetings and SL technical problems

Fox Monacular: Hello Eden, Yakuzza and Eliza!

    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Fox!

Eden Haiku: Welcome Fox :) Yes, I was sharing with Yaku how spending long stretches of time with people make conversations deeper and smiling and laughing easier.

    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Lucinda :)

Eliza Madrigal: Ah, and Eden that fits well with my trying to plan a retreat! :)

Lucinda Lavender: Hi Eliza, Eden, Yaku, Fox

    Fox Monacular: Hi Lucinda

    Lucinda Lavender: great idea...

    Eliza Madrigal: long stretches...

    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Arch

    Lucinda Lavender: Hi Arch

    Archmage Atlantis: Hello Eliza

    Archmage Atlantis: Hello Lucinda

Eliza Madrigal: Village life sounds so wonderful :)

    Lucinda Lavender: :) Koya...

    Eden Haiku: Hi Lucinda!

Archmage Atlantis: Koya sees you all, and reports back to the other animals,, as always

Lucinda Lavender: :) are you planning a virtual retreat?

    Lucinda Lavender: Nice Arch

Eden Haiku: (Sorry had to greet them as they came back to the house and my father was telling me stories he gathered from the French people who are vacationing nearby :)

Eden Haiku: Hello Arch and Koya, nice to see you again:)

Eliza Madrigal: I think a virtual retreat would be quite fun too!

Archmage Atlantis: Were any of the stories worth sharing Eden

Eden Haiku: Well, I guess I will have the details as we go swimming later. My father is a chatterbox :) his lady fiend remembered I had an Internet meeting. They find this very mysterious ...

    Lucinda Lavender: :)

Eden Haiku: I would love to take a RL retreat Eliza, but it is scary at the same time.

    Eliza Madrigal: scary?

    Bleu Oleander: hi everyone

    Eden Haiku: Hi Bleu :)

    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Bleu :)

Archmage Atlantis: I was silent through middle life.......now I am a chatterbox too

    Lucinda Lavender: HI Bleu!

    Yakuzza Lethecus: hi bleu

Bleu Oleander: having all kinds of problems with sl today

    Bleu Oleander: is anyone else?

Eden Haiku: I was silent until I got 27. Then, I became a chatterbox too :)

Lucinda Lavender: not for me Bleu ...

Fox Monacular: I've always been a chatterbox... now I'm becoming silent:)

Archmage Atlantis: You beat me by 25 years Eden.....good for you

    Eliza Madrigal smiles

Eliza Madrigal: I'm only a chatterbox online. In RL I'm quite quiet

Eden Haiku: No problems with SL Bleu.

Eliza Madrigal: so its funny :)

Lucinda Lavender: Something to wonder about...the speakers energy

Archmage Atlantis: Fox, some children learn to speak late, some learn to listen late.......

Eden Haiku: @ELiza. Scary of RL retreats, yes. For now I guess. Not when I came here first, but then...

    Archmage Atlantis: Both serve

Eliza Madrigal: yes Lucinda, quite interesting really... how one channel can flow more than another, etc

Eliza Madrigal: Hm... Well I hope you go back to being comfortable Eden. :)))

    Eden Haiku: Me too ;)

    Eliza Madrigal smiles

Eliza Madrigal: I never imagined so much SL/RL overlap...

Eden Haiku: Bleu is crashing or maybe trying to relog...

Eliza Madrigal: would have insisted I'd never bridge that gap... now so different :)

Lucinda Lavender: sometimes stirred by internal noticing

    Eliza Madrigal: mmm, nods

Lucinda Lavender: I am wondering about whether those who are comfortable writing are more inspired in this format...

Archmage Atlantis: Less threatened I think

Eden Haiku: I love being with people and lived in an ashram community in India for almost 2 years. I guess it is connected to that.

    --BELL--

Lucinda Lavender: the love of community?

    Eden Haiku: Welcome St

    Eden Haiku: Storm!

    Eden Haiku: stuttering ;)

Storm Nordwind: Thank you Ed ;)

Archmage Atlantis: I saw this show that said we share 50% of ou DNA with banana plants

    Eden Haiku: laughing

    Lucinda Lavender: interesting!

Storm Nordwind: For politicians, it's a higher amount Arch

Eden Haiku: feeling like a banana plant sometimes

    Fox Monacular: Hi Storm!

    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Storm :)

    Yakuzza Lethecus: hey storm

    Storm Nordwind: Hi guys!

    Lucinda Lavender: :)

    Archmage Atlantis: Guten abend, Sturm

Clouds (appearing as, seeing oneself as, wishing to be, thinking like), cloud computing and cloudy thinkers)

Eden Haiku: Fox you still appear as a cloud...do others see her?

Yakuzza Lethecus: she's also a cloud for me :)

Eliza Madrigal: I see Fox as a cloud today too

Fox Monacular: I see myself as a cloud too:)

    Eliza Madrigal: :)

Yakuzza Lethecus wishes to be a cloud

Archmage Atlantis: I see only a cloud of light

    Fox Monacular: mentally and avatar-ly

Storm Nordwind: I'm thinking like a cloud

Eden Haiku: She is already enlightened!

Lucinda Lavender: I see everyone clearly...

Eliza Madrigal: its cloud illusions I recall....

Storm Nordwind: I see no separation between anyone

    Lucinda Lavender: :)

Yakuzza Lethecus: computing will happen more often in clouds in the future :)

Eden Haiku: You are also Storm,(enlightened) hence thinking like a cloud :)

Eliza Madrigal: Ah, no, Lucinda would be the enlightened one... seeing all clearly ... giggles

Fox Monacular: some people see things in clouds, I see clouds in things these days:)

    Lucinda Lavender: :)

Storm Nordwind: You are all pixels to me

Archmage Atlantis: Both are valid Fox

Eden Haiku: Was explaining cloud computing to my Dad... Funny conversation!

Lucinda Lavender: I think about weather when I have slow connections...does anyone think that makes sense?

Eden Haiku: Hey! I'm not pixels!

    Archmage Atlantis: yes

    Storm Nordwind: sure

Lucinda Lavender: tornadoes somewhere effect the computing?

Storm Nordwind: They've gone this morning I think

Archmage Atlantis: All things affect all other things, so yes, tornados affect the net

Eden Haiku: Seeing clouds in things, that sounds promising Fox. Tell us more?

    Fox Monacular: hehe

    The Butterfly Effect

Fox Monacular: no no, just things are a little bit in a mess for me these days:)

Storm Nordwind: Whether I remember to brush my teeth in the morning affects the net

    Lucinda Lavender: :)

    Archmage Atlantis: agree, Storm

    Archmage Atlantis: So brush them

    Eden Haiku: The butterfly effect...

Lucinda Lavender: what is the butterfly effect?

Eden Haiku: Why a mess Fox? Something going on?

Lucinda Lavender: I think I heard about that and have forgotten

    Storm Nordwind: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Butterfly_effect

Yakuzza Lethecus: the butterfly effect would be that a guy in my philosophyclass in real life once mentioned ppl living different identitites and express themselves diffrently in virtual worlds and i went to secondlife that day

Yakuzza Lethecus: so that guy is responsible that i went to malta 9 month later

Fox Monacular: something is going on probably more in my head than in reality... thus the clouds:) overall just slowly coming to terms with the fact that I spend too much time at home, something that I've always resented:)

Archmage Atlantis: Awh, too easy......like a lazy student

    Eden Haiku: Wow Yaku!

Yakuzza Lethecus: i guess it's the same for all of us

Yakuzza Lethecus: only that i remember what lead me hear

Eliza Madrigal: Fox, I've felt like that at various points certainly... we make choices but then lots of other things jump in there....

Eden Haiku: Ah Fox, yes, having a toddler and writing a master thesis is tying you up.

    Lucinda Lavender: interesting...

    Yakuzza Lethecus: here

Storm Nordwind:Butterfly effect = small stimuli can have large unforeseen effects in an unstable highly interconnected system

Eden Haiku: Good nut shell Storm!

    Archmage Atlantis: better

Lucinda Lavender: wow...I guess I did not really know about this

Eliza Madrigal: butterfly is chaos theory, same, right?

Fox Monacular: yes, Eliza and Eden... :)

Archmage Atlantis: Not to me Eliza, but both are valid

Storm Nordwind: Certainly part of it Eden

Lucinda Lavender: when I think about staying home as a mom earlier in my families life I noticed I did not feel as competant

Eden Haiku: It was raining last summer. I ordered a new laptop that came all the way from Shanghai to the Laurentians and as I wanted to try this new toy. I remembered an article I had read a few years ago about Second Life. And my twin sister Rrose was born!

    --BELL--

Storm Nordwind meant Eliza then, but he is a cloudy thinker this morning

Archmage Atlantis: Being a parent is the most difficult assignment one is given

Fox Monacular: yes, I feel that way too, Lucinda

    Fox Monacular: oups, sorry

Eden Haiku: Is it me or is our converstion difficult to follow? ;)

Eden Haiku: Oh Bleu, you are back! Nice ;)

Fox Monacular: I don't find it difficult being a parent, I find it difficult being only a parent

Bleu Oleander: sort of back :)

    Eliza Madrigal nods

    Lucinda Lavender: yes Fox...

Bleu Oleander: having lots of problems with sl today

Eden Haiku: Sorry, was talking within the bell...

Storm Nordwind: It's the time of changing of the celestial guard Eden. Things may be hard to follow.

Lucinda Lavender: I think maybe we are having two conversation?

Eden Haiku: Oh yes, happy solstice everyone!

    Fox Monacular: :)

    Eden Haiku: Just two?

Eliza Madrigal: Happy Solstice and Chaos Theory enactment day!

    Lucinda Lavender: more than two...

Fox Monacular: I'd love to enact chaos theory! how do i sign up?

Eden Haiku: But you are not only a parent Fox, you are Fox, our PaB friend and a dream reseracher and so many more things too aren't you ?

    Fox Monacular: ?

    Eliza Madrigal smiles

Fox Monacular: yes, Eden, that seems to be the problem:)

Eden Haiku: Ah, hence the cloud

Storm Nordwind: All children enact chaos theory on a daily basis Fox. There is no escape for you!

    Eliza Madrigal: :)

Eden Haiku: Feeling like cloud computing yourself?

Fox shares a bit more about a new phase in her life she is adjusting to

Fox Monacular: since my husband was so busy, I feel like a single parent for the past year or so:)

    Fox Monacular: hehe, true, Storm!

Eden Haiku: Did he complete his thesis now?

Fox Monacular: yes, just 2 weeks ago!:)

Eliza Madrigal: Yay! :) So things should begin to even out a little one hopes, Fox...

Eden Haiku: Wow! So he will bounce back being a Dad and helping out more I guess...

Fox Monacular: and i find it hard to get back on track after so much time without thinking much

    Fox Monacular: hopefully, yes

Fox Monacular: right now im in Montreal, trying to get my thesis back on track

Fox Monacular: and he's in Boston, doing his work

Lucinda Lavender: knowing that there is a period of adjustment .

    Fox Monacular: so chaos!

Eden Haiku: You need time to adjust, yes, it is a new situation.

    Eliza Madrigal nods

Eliza Madrigal: The main thing is that you can see it Fox... the imbalance... that you would like to keep many channels flowing...

Archmage Atlantis: And if things change constantly, as the young say, ......what is adjustment?

Eden Haiku: So it is a good time for us tom meet in RL Fox! And it could ease my fear of RL retreats also :)

Eliza Madrigal: When my children were little I lost sight of that quite a bit

    Lucinda Lavender: :)

Bleu Oleander: sorry ... sl still giving me problems .... will try to come back :(

    Fox Monacular: :)

Fox Monacular: yes, it's a great practice for appreciating change

**Eden Haiku: Sorry for that Bleu. Hope it is ok for this afternoon meeting.

Fox Monacular: and for appreciating that agency or planning or control are really just illusions!

Fox Monacular: and that identities are really dynamic and shifting

Eden Haiku: Shifting all the time yes...

Archmage Atlantis: For me, this is a powerful meeting........that no one else may share that is no burden

    Fox Monacular: :)

    Eliza Madrigal: :)

Eden Haiku: What do you mean Arch?

Lucinda Lavender: wondering if the Butterfly effect is a helpful image...something about attraction.

Archmage Atlantis: All happens in the flow of existence

    Archmage Atlantis: Fair question Eden

    Archmage Atlantis: Will ponder

Eliza Madrigal: well it does seem helpful... as though there are layers of looking at things.. layers of patterns that may seem to be unfolding too slowly or too quickly ....

Eden Haiku: Cloudy thinking here too I'm afraid :))

Fox Monacular: yes, layers sometimes get stripped off too quickly, and one might not be quite ready to see what's underneath!

    Archmage Atlantis: Computer clouds?

Eliza Madrigal: yes, unearthing the unknown :)

    Lucinda Lavender: showing threads

    Lucinda Lavender: not seen before

Eden Haiku: I'm going to join back my guests now. Will see some of you at the Being as Time meeting at 2SLT I suppose. I will receive the log. Have a nice day all!

"Once upon a time they lived happily ever after"

Archmage Atlantis: my ex SL bf said something like that to me

Storm Nordwind was going to greet the midsummer sunrise this morning on top of a 14000 feet mountain, but there was too much thick low cloud to make the journey safe

Eliza Madrigal: Nice to see you Eden!

Fox Monacular: take care Eden, see you soon!

    Storm Nordwind waves

Archmage Atlantis: Taking off the mask

Eden Haiku: Oh nice Storm. Want to hear your story through the log.:)

    Lucinda Lavender: bye Eden!

Archmage Atlantis: Read me a story pls :)

Storm Nordwind: Once upon a time, they lived happily ever after (**(Great story, Storm, the classics are always the best, from Alpha directly to Omega!**)

    --BELL--

Archmage Atlantis: Yes, and then what happened?

Storm Nordwind: Please excuse me - I must make a final adjustment to the exhibition. See you all then!

Fox Monacular: see you later, Storm!

    Yakuzza Lethecus: bye strom

    Lucinda Lavender: bye!

    Archmage Atlantis: good luck Storm

Yakuzza Lethecus: bye everyone who's going to teave

    Eliza Madrigal: Bye Storm

Archmage Atlantis: the bottle is uncorked

Eliza Madrigal: Yes, I've got to go :) Nice to see you again Fox, and Ya, and Arch

Archmage Atlantis: And I need to go also

Eliza Madrigal: Nice to see you Lucinda :) Enjoy work and sorry you'll miss the theme later

Eliza Madrigal: but we'll get it posted quickly!

Fox Monacular: take care Eliza, very nice to see you!

Lucinda Lavender: :) thank you..I will miss the opportunity:)

    Lucinda Lavender: good day all

Eliza Madrigal: Fox I may send you an email re the mommying thing :) ((((( Fox ))))) Hang in there

    Fox Monacular: thanks, Eliza!

Eliza Madrigal: you are handling the restlessness really well even if you don't know that... just seeing it :))

    Fox Monacular: :))

    Eliza Madrigal: Bye for now

    Fox Monacular: anicha:)

Lucinda Lavender: How old is your child Fox?

    Lucinda Lavender: walking?

Lucinda Lavender: no need to say...I was just imagining whether there are any places that help watch children on a drop in basis.

Lucinda Lavender: I wam working in this kind of place just for the summer

Fox Monacular: :), we'll soon celebrate her 2nd birthday

Fox Monacular: walking, talking and all that:)

Lucinda Lavender: Near the university we are

Lucinda Lavender: and so students can drop the child for 4 hours

    Fox Monacular: that's cool

Lucinda Lavender: it is on an hourly basis

Yakuzza Lethecus: is it free or are there costs for the students ?

Fox Monacular: the reason she's not in the daycare is that we are between 2 cities, so it would be too stressful to handle that much change and adapt to different people all the time

Lucinda Lavender: it costs by the hour

Fox Monacular: we just didnt plan things properly:) we're very chaotic and spontaneous people, so there:)

Lucinda Lavender: but some families are on special finacial aid from our porgram

    Fox Monacular: that's nice:)

Fox Monacular: we'll have to investigate, once we have something that resembles an actual schedule

Lucinda Lavender: We are located at a church that decided childcare programs we its mission

Lucinda Lavender: but we are not religious as a program

    Fox Monacular: :)

Lucinda Lavender: Chrches have the classroom space sometime to set up drop in childcare

Lucinda Lavender: also near universities there are more possible programs to help students with kids

Fox Monacular: yes, definitely, although in Boston I wont have any student privileges

    --BELL--

A very interesting discussion about RL and SL, real human connection and trust issues involving Yaku, Lucinda and Fox

Yakuzza Lethecus: you don't have any more classes in canada or can you do that through teleteaching ?

Lucinda Lavender: When you go to Boston will you be writing during that time?

Fox Monacular: no, no more classes, just the thesis left

Fox Monacular: yes, exactly, will be writing mostly:)

Fox Monacular: so while i'm in Montreal I really need to get everything together... and it's tough to get back on track

Fox Monacular: good thing I have such an understanding and awesome thesis director!

    Lucinda Lavender: yes!

Fox Monacular: by the way, he mentioned that he might come by the dream seminar and give a talk

    Lucinda Lavender: great!

    Lucinda Lavender: interesting...

Fox Monacular: i've been asking him for a while, and he might finally be interested... just the whole SL thing is a big mystery for him

    Lucinda Lavender: ah..yes

Lucinda Lavender: seems like there is much possibility for learning.

Lucinda Lavender: I enjoyed trying to explain about dream circle in the wiki for example

Fox Monacular: yes, it was a big surprise for me initially

    Fox Monacular: :)

    Lucinda Lavender: 2L?

Fox Monacular: how did it go, by the way? sorry i had to leave so suddenly last week

    Lucinda Lavender: its ok

Fox Monacular: yes, sl had more to offer than i expected

Lucinda Lavender: I was thinking afterwards..

Fox Monacular: my baby was ill....

Lucinda Lavender: that when in rL we can just look across to see someone wave to get the stone as the commenting winds down...

Lucinda Lavender: there is something we could do like type text to kkkkkkkkget another turn

    Lucinda Lavender: oops

Lucinda Lavender: sorry your child was ill

Lucinda Lavender: that can be very challenging

Fox Monacular: thanks, no it's ok, just a cold... but I see what you mean... a nonverbal aspect is very important especually when people are sharing something personal

Lucinda Lavender: some typed and some were in voice

    Fox Monacular: right

Lucinda Lavender: I just think that 2L brings special challenges that need to be acommadated by being flexible.

    Fox Monacular: yes, definitely

Fox Monacular: in the beginning i was not sure if any real human connection was even possible

Lucinda Lavender: I have enjoyed watching how quickly and sweetly people partiipate here...

Fox Monacular: but i was wrong, I made some friends that seem pretty real to me:)

    Lucinda Lavender: I know...

Lucinda Lavender: not to be dismissed because it is on a computer

    Fox Monacular: yes

Lucinda Lavender: except in that really big view I suppose.

    Lucinda Lavender: An illusion...

    --BELL--

Yakuzza Lethecus: /the communication is real, the only issue is sometimes that there are ppl who see rl and sl as the same thing and ppl whom see sl as a roleplay in general, so that sometimes creates trust issues for me

    Lucinda Lavender: ah

    Lucinda Lavender: good point

Fox Monacular: i know what you mean

Fox Monacular: i guess i've not really used sl as roleplay, but I definitely 'play' with my avatar

Yakuzza Lethecus: for me it's sometimes even hard to tell somebody "where" i talked to a new friend or somebody

Yakuzza Lethecus: because i conciously know that i end up in a "what in a videogame?" discussion

Lucinda Lavender: many people are not able to make that leap

Yakuzza Lethecus: i think i also would have left sl if i haven't had found kira

Yakuzza Lethecus: nice to see ppl are still around like i remember when fox came in bleu's happy hour :)

Fox Monacular: me too, Yakuzza, there is no other reason, really, for me to use sl... although i haven't explored it much, i confess

    Fox Monacular: yes, me too!

Fox Monacular: you guys convinced me to stay! thanks, Yakuzza!

Yakuzza Lethecus: i am just always around

Fox Monacular: and thanks for showing me around in my first days:)

    Fox Monacular: :)

Yakuzza Lethecus: the work is done by ppl like storm, bleu and so many others

Yakuzza Lethecus: i am the true cloud :)

    Lucinda Lavender: :)

    Fox Monacular: :)

Lucinda Lavender: 2L seems like a place for exploration...

Lucinda Lavender: I was attracted after the exposure to Dream circle happening in the new venue

Lucinda Lavender: It was a good way to have the possibility to be in dream circle with someone very experienced

Lucinda Lavender: then I saw that Calvino was here in this community

Lucinda Lavender: another person I know from rL

Lucinda Lavender: so I have had the opportunity to explor different philospohical view...

    Fox Monacular: :)

Fox Monacular: yes, sl seems a great platform to explore many different approaches

Yakuzza Lethecus sneaks away, cya both!

    --BELL--

Fox Monacular: me too i have to go

Lucinda Lavender: I think I shall go tho for now...bye Yaky

    Fox Monacular: take care
