2010.06.28 13:00 - Clothe your Personality

The Guardian for this meeting was Mickorod Renard.

    Wol Euler: hello cal
    Calvino Rabeni: hi Wol
    Bleu Oleander: hi Wol, Cal
    Wol Euler: hello bleu
Wol Euler: nice outfit today, bleu
    Calvino Rabeni: yes
    Bleu Oleander: ty :)
Bleu Oleander: are you still changing yours everyday?
    Wol Euler: mmhmm
Wol Euler: and posting them on flickr
    Mickorod Renard: Hi
    Wol Euler: hello mick
    Bleu Oleander: cool
    Bleu Oleander: hey mick
    Wol Euler: http://www.flickr.com/photos/24049707@N06/sets/72157624152041883/
Mickorod Renard: how r u all?
Wol Euler: kewl thx & u?
    Mickorod Renard: pretty good ta
Bleu Oleander: great thanks mich, you?
    Bleu Oleander: sry mick*
    Mickorod Renard: :)
    Bleu Oleander: hi ara
    arabella Ella: Hiya!
    Wol Euler: hello ara
Mickorod Renard: I sort of miss the guided direction from Pema, he used to be here so often
Calvino Rabeni: Nice photo collection Wol ... I wonder what it all means ... :)
    Mickorod Renard: Hi Ara
Calvino Rabeni: Label me - fashion oblivious :)
    Wol Euler grins
Bleu Oleander: does each look make you feel different?
Wol Euler: I think it means that I buy a lot more than I actually wear.
Wol Euler: yes, there are some that are comfortable and others that I can't wait to change out of
Mickorod Renard: nice t shirt Cal
Wol Euler: some just don't feel like Wol.
Bleu Oleander: funny how that is
    --BELL--
Wol Euler: there have been surprises.
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hey everyone
    Zon Quar: helloo
Bleu Oleander: I have many pics of past "Bleu looks" that felt like Bleu at the time that don't anymore
    Wol Euler: hello zon, yaku
    Mickorod Renard: Hi Zon
    Bleu Oleander: hey Zon, Yaku
    Wol Euler nods
    arabella Ella: Hiya Zon, Yaku
Wol Euler: some of these things, I can't imagine what I was thinking when I bought them:)
Bleu Oleander: relates to that hehe
Wol Euler: others I've loved. THe purply silks, for example, I expected to hate wearing that, but it was fun.
    Bleu Oleander: late night purchases
Wol Euler: empowering, for want of a word.
    Mickorod Renard: Hi Yaku
Bleu Oleander: relates to self confidence, like rl
    Wol Euler: mmhmm
Wol Euler: the relation goes both ways
    Bleu Oleander: true
Wol Euler: some clothes require you to be in a strong mood to wear them
Wol Euler: there are others that enable you to be strong when you wear them
Wol Euler: I had an overcoat in RL many years ago that was like that
Bleu Oleander: and some no matter how strong you feel don't feel good
Calvino Rabeni: Hmmm, I don't see the pajama sleep outfit in that collection :)
Wol Euler: I loved wearing it, it made me feel like royalty or some kind of warrior aristocrat
Wol Euler: and I realized eventually that it was because it enforced a particular posture
Bleu Oleander: over basic clothing needs, attitude pulls off fashion
Wol Euler: the weight and balance of it pulled my shoulders back, made me stand straighter :)
Wol Euler: no, cal, the pyjamas wasn't the day's outfit :) that was in response to conversation
Wol Euler: I had worn it before in public, so it can't be part of hte project
Mickorod Renard: I had a coat once that was so big I lived in it with my girlfriend
    Wol Euler grins.
    Bleu Oleander: :)
    Mickorod Renard: :)
Mickorod Renard: it was very romantic
Wol Euler: warm, too, I expect.
Calvino Rabeni: I realized that Wol, after my remark ...
Mickorod Renard: it did get very hot in there at times
Mickorod Renard: there could be a huge environmental benefit to living in a big coat with your family
    Wol Euler: :)
Wol Euler: you'd all have to stick together all the time though. No privacy
Wol Euler: have to take the kids to work with you
Wol Euler: or go to school with them :)
Mickorod Renard: yes,,i see the drwawbacks now,,it was much simpler a long time ago
Mickorod Renard: If I wear some clothes that I do not feel comfortable in I sense a huge loss in confidence

    sometimes
    Wol Euler nods.
Mickorod Renard: yet other times I feel quite rebelious and dont care what I look like
Wol Euler: have you tried wearing "uncomfortable" clothes on a "don't care" day?
Mickorod Renard: and there is a certain way that you can look cool weven if u wear rags
Wol Euler: are they still uncomfortable?
    Wol Euler: wb ara
    Mickorod Renard: some are yes
    --BELL--
Mickorod Renard: but some dont feel part of my character
    Mickorod Renard: oops
    Mickorod Renard: have i crashed?
    Wol Euler: nope
Mickorod Renard: looks like Ara has
    Wol Euler: again
Mickorod Renard: i dislike that lapse in time when u think u r still here but have crashed
Wol Euler: I wonder why we buy things that don't suit us. Do we subconsciously hope they'll change us, improve

    us?
    Wol Euler: hello darren
    Mickorod Renard: Hi Daz
    Darren Islar: hi everyone
Mickorod Renard: yes,,I sometimes buy stuff with a view of changing my persona
Mickorod Renard: and then discover that I am too stuck in my ways
    Mickorod Renard: Hi Ara
    Wol Euler: re-wb ara
    Bleu Oleander: hi darren
    Darren Islar: hi Ara
Mickorod Renard: darn,,she has gone again
Wol Euler: perhaps clohtes can only move us in a direction that we are already facing?
Mickorod Renard: its a facinating thought
Wol Euler: or turn us to face a different path, but not push us along it (to continue the metaphor)
Mickorod Renard: and sometimes u see the trend in families,,through generations
Wol Euler whispers to Mick "Apparently we've bored the others to sleep."
Mickorod Renard: I remember the good ol day i was connected to social service type stuff,,incl training,,the cycle

    of poverty or deprivation
    Bleu Oleander: listening :)
Mickorod Renard: its hard to break family paterns
    Wol Euler nods
Mickorod Renard: and part of this must extend into dress sense too
    Darren Islar: also listening :)
Mickorod Renard: an emplyer still takes into account what or how a person presents themselves
    Wol Euler nods
    arabella Ella: Hallo
    Mickorod Renard: halloooo
    Wol Euler: re-re-wb ara
    arabella Ella: ty
    Darren Islar: hi Ara
arabella Ella: SL barred me for coming back for 5 mins
    Wol Euler: heh
arabella Ella: and normally i can override that but not this time
arabella Ella: both with emerald and 2.0
Mickorod Renard: one day they will kick me out for not changing at all
    Wol Euler: :)
Wol Euler: you're in a very large minority, Mick.
    Mickorod Renard: wow,,thats comforting
    Wol Euler: :)
Wol Euler: right here in PaB I'd say the non-changers are probably half of the group.
Mickorod Renard: there has been some discussion in certain circles of late that a person cannot really change
    Bleu Oleander: haven't changed
    Wol Euler raises an eyebrow.
    --BELL--
Bleu Oleander: viewers, that is :)
    Mickorod Renard: ahh
Bleu Oleander: somehow lost the thread of the conversation
Mickorod Renard: I am sure I have changed in personality
Darren Islar: oh, we are not talking about people who might change :)
Mickorod Renard: but then maybe not
    Bleu Oleander: people or viewers?
    Bertram Jacobus: hi everybody ! ... :-)
    Bleu Oleander: hi Bert
    Darren Islar: hi Bert
    arabella Ella: Hiya Bert
Mickorod Renard: I think i tried to change the conversation on chang of viewers to change of people stemming

    from change of clothes
    Wol Euler: hello bert
Mickorod Renard: that change people,,or not
Darren Islar: Throw me a frikkin bone here!
Darren Islar: ah, okay, thx for the Mick :))
Darren Islar: I'm the boss, need the info!
    Mickorod Renard: hi Bert
    Darren Islar: what was that??
Wol Euler: a gesture, probably :)
Wol Euler: you accidentally hit a hotkey
Darren Islar: Throw me a frikkin bone here!
Darren Islar: I'm the boss, need the info!
    arabella Ella giggles
Bleu Oleander: Darren, where did that come from?
Calvino Rabeni: Calvino Rabeni wonders if it was translated from Japanese
Darren Islar: well, my guess it is a gesture, but didn't know I had this one :))
    Bleu Oleander: ha!
Calvino Rabeni: as in "all your base are belong to us!"
    Wol Euler: indeed.
Darren Islar: had something activated, sorry :)
Mickorod Renard: now then,,does anyone know who I need to report to, to relinquish my duties here,,as a session

    guardian?
Calvino Rabeni: It would have been exciting :)
Wol Euler: write to the email group, Mick.
Mickorod Renard: and scribe writter not writing
Wol Euler: or rather, please don't :)
Bertram Jacobus: hey fael ! :-)
    Mickorod Renard: hi Fael
    Wol Euler: hello fael
    Darren Islar: xhi Fael
    Bleu Oleander: hey Fael
    Fael Illyar: meep meep! :)
    arabella Ella: Hiya Fael
    Mickorod Renard: meep meep
Mickorod Renard: how many u got for the germany trip Wol?
Wol Euler: four and two possibles at last count
Mickorod Renard: ok,,well the malta trip became much more active in takers at the last moment
Wol Euler: care to join us?
Mickorod Renard: I wud luv to
Mickorod Renard: I must check my dates
Mickorod Renard: whats happening there Wol,,anything extra?
    Wol Euler: nothing very unusual.
Mickorod Renard: like sites to see?
Wol Euler: the retreat centre is on farmland, pretty well isolated
    Mickorod Renard: ouch
Wol Euler: with woods to walk in
Mickorod Renard: sounds very nice actually
Wol Euler: they run yoga sessions too, on their own as it were, and it may be possible for retreaters to do yoga

    each morning
Wol Euler: (depends on their bookings)
    Wol Euler: http://wiki.playasbeing.org/PaB_Retreats/2010-10_Stuttgart%2c_DE
Mickorod Renard: do they do massage?
Wol Euler: there is a wellness centre on the premises too, so I guesthe answer is "yes"
Mickorod Renard: I dont think my joints will extend to yoga at the momment
Yakuzza Lethecus: my only issue is the isolated part, but things like yoga would be at least a really new

    experience
Mickorod Renard: do they do the rieki stuff,,have u heard of it?
Wol Euler: heard of, yes, but not enough to be knowledgeable about it
Wol Euler: their style is ... lemme check
    Mickorod Renard: ok
    Wol Euler: "pranic healing"
    Wol Euler: prana yoga
    --BELL--
Mickorod Renard: ok,,i must leave,,remind me to check on my dates i am off Wol,,in the commin weeks
    Mickorod Renard: bye guys
Yakuzza Lethecus: is there a deadline until we have to know if we come ?
    Bertram Jacobus: bye mick
    Darren Islar: bye Mick
    Bleu Oleander: bye mick
    Yakuzza Lethecus: bye mick
    arabella Ella: bye Mick
    Mickorod Renard: take care
    Wol Euler: damn, missed him
    Fael Illyar: meep!
Wol Euler: it would be good if you could confirm at least four weeks before the start, i.e. by September
Wol Euler: because otherwise the places may go to other people
Wol Euler: we won'T be the only ones retreating at Rineck that week
Wol Euler: and there is a conference in Stuttgart the second weekend, so that hotel may fill up
Wol Euler: so let's just pick a date and say that Decision Day is 1. September :)
    Wol Euler: SOGOP :)
Yakuzza Lethecus: for malta it was actually the deadline that made me fly :P
arabella Ella: September 1 should be fine Wol
    Wol Euler: well!
Yakuzza Lethecus: since the temple had to be booked *looking at ara*
Wol Euler: then let's say the deadline is August 1!
    Yakuzza Lethecus: :)
    arabella Ella: excuse me Yaku?
    Yakuzza Lethecus: nothing serious :)
arabella Ella: oh yes the hypogeum now i get it ... he he
Yakuzza Lethecus: i had to make my decision :)
    Yakuzza Lethecus: yes
Bleu Oleander: cu .... bfn :)
Wol Euler: bye bleu, take care
    arabella Ella: bye Bleu
    Bertram Jacobus: bye bleu
    Darren Islar: bye Bleu
Wol Euler: hmmmmm, what could I use as a lever like that?
Wol Euler: "the fox won't come out of the woods unless we get eight people there."
    arabella Ella: LOL
    Fael Illyar: meep meep? fox?
Wol Euler: "the larks only sing for large groups"
Wol Euler: I saw a fox on the farm road when I was there checking it out a few months back
Yakuzza Lethecus: can´t you drag aga over the channel ? :)
Wol Euler: apparently not. She is resisting heroically (heroine-ically)
Wol Euler: as are some other people too (looks intensely at Yaku).
arabella Ella: Well there are quite a few Europeans who are guardians
arabella Ella: and it is likely to be easier for them
Yakuzza Lethecus: i am thinking of it, maybe there are some interesting things around heidelberg but the ,,real

reatreat" envrionment is an negative aspect to me
arabella Ella: altho i heard from Paradise she may be interested to join too
    --BELL--
Yakuzza Lethecus: yes, she told me the same
    Qt Core: hi all
    Wol Euler: hello qt
    Darren Islar: hi QT
    Fael Illyar: Hi Qt :)
Yakuzza Lethecus: hmm, but i also don´t have the real reatreat environment experience as well :P
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hey qt
Wol Euler: it would be great to have Paradise again
    Bertram Jacobus: hi qt :-)
    Yakuzza Lethecus: retreat
    arabella Ella: yes
    arabella Ella: Hiya Qt
Wol Euler: neither do I, to be honest :)
Wol Euler: Malta was my first.
    arabella Ella: :)
Darren Islar: what is a real retreat environment?
Yakuzza Lethecus: for me it´s the aspect that ur away from the public places the whole time
    Yakuzza Lethecus: excluding sightseeing
    Wol Euler grins
    Darren Islar: ah, okay
Wol Euler: you see the inner sights all the more vividly :)
arabella Ella: maybe cut off to some extent from the rest of the world
    Darren Islar: hmmm, yes
Wol Euler: hang on, just a moment, this isn't a mountaintop in Siberia.
Wol Euler: there is wifi in the retreat centre, and cellphone access.
Yakuzza Lethecus: still i could cheat since i would come with my car anyway *speaks to himself*
    Fael Illyar: how's that cheating?
    Darren Islar: sneaking away :)
Wol Euler: and if you get absolutely desperate, there is a train station 5km away where you can get to Mannheim

in an hour or so, four times a day
    arabella Ella: gtg goodnight all
Wol Euler: bye ara, take care
Fael Illyar: good night ara :)
    Darren Islar: bye Ara
    Fael Illyar: meep! :)
    Yakuzza Lethecus: sleep well ara
    Yakuzza Lethecus: gute nacht
    Qt Core: 'night ara
Yakuzza Lethecus: and actually i also need to drop myself to bed
Darren Islar: now it starts to sound like a psychiatric hospital, with grazy and desperate people :))
    Yakuzza Lethecus: by everyone
Wol Euler: 'nacht yaku, schlaf gut
    Darren Islar: bye Yaku
Wol Euler: you'd sleep really well there, btw
Wol Euler: with al that fresh air and exercise
Yakuzza Lethecus: hehe darren *remembers ur freudian slip today*
Yakuzza Lethecus: even tho i haven´t read that mail in time
Darren Islar: ah, that one :)
    Qt Core: exercise ?
    Wol Euler: at the retreat.
Wol Euler: there are woods to walk in, and yoga sessions to stretch in
Qt Core: you spoke about some yoga class, rightr ?
    Darren Islar: oops
Wol Euler: yes, the retreat centre doesn't just host retreats like ours, they also run pranic yoga

    classes/sessions/courses too
Qt Core: woods are good to support an hammoc too ;-)
    Wol Euler: :)
Wol Euler: it might be a bit chilly for that in October
    Darren Islar: heheh
Calvino Rabeni: Pehaps there's a saua then
    Wol Euler: surely.
Wol Euler: they seem to hvae pretty well everyhting.
Calvino Rabeni: all set up - a good combination - meditation, plus the "laying on of hands"
Darren Islar: I;m going on a retreat and I take with me a sauna, a hammock, a wiki, a cell phone, a car
    Wol Euler: heheheh
Wol Euler: well, the urban retreat in downtown San Francisco "proved" that the retreatery happens in you, not in

    your environment
    Darren Islar: true, just joking
Darren Islar: in fact there is no real retreat environment, but a feel of silence can help
Darren Islar: can help a lot
Darren Islar: as a nice environment can
Wol Euler: Zen retweeted somebody talking about spending a whole week in silence
Wol Euler: saying you can learn a lot about yourself in that way
Darren Islar: yes, I suppose so, didn't do it myself
    --BELL--
Darren Islar: But it looks real swell, to me the environment is a selling point
Darren Islar: or woud be anyway
    Darren Islar: need to go
Wol Euler: 'night darren, take care
    Darren Islar: bye all :)
    Qt Core: bye Darren
Wol Euler: I hope it'll be a good place, and a good time
    Fael Illyar: meep! :)
    Wol Euler: meep indeed.
Calvino Rabeni: Most of those centres also support "personal retreats" if you want to go without a group
Calvino Rabeni: Or, you might know a hermit with a remote mountain cabin, to borrow for a week or so
    Wol Euler: :)
Wol Euler: yes, I'm sure they would do that too
Qt Core: while he go to Las Vegas to take a break ?
Calvino Rabeni: I had a friend with such a cabin; no he got married and left the cabin for the big city :)
Qt Core: two tragedy with a ring ;-)
Calvino Rabeni: I liked it well, for the first week or so ... however, things did occasionally go "bump in the night"
    Fael Illyar: meep meep! :)
    Fael Illyar: bump?
Calvino Rabeni: But at 3200 M elevation, and a long drive, it was pretty quiet
Calvino Rabeni: Yes, unknown noises at night
    Calvino Rabeni: like "thump" sound
    Fael Illyar: Ah :)
    Wol Euler: :)
Calvino Rabeni: And the silence was nice
    Qt Core: DRASTICAL RETREAT:

    http://www.watoday.com.au/world/swiss-explorer-casts-away-in-pacific-tonga-20090715-dkym.html
Wol Euler: not to worry, just a cougar falling off the roof after failing to break in the skylight
Calvino Rabeni: Although target practice has been known as a spiritual exercise for concentration
Calvino Rabeni: Since the time of the great archers
Qt Core: YES, BUT LESS NOISY WEAPONS
Wol Euler: zen and the art of archery, and all that
    Qt Core: ops
Calvino Rabeni: I did learn, that some use guns for the same purpose in modern times
Calvino Rabeni: Not that I am advocating, of course
Calvino Rabeni: I don't know what it would be like to live a purely urban life style
Calvino Rabeni: because I've always alternated between urban and remote environments
Fael Illyar: I'll start preparing for bed :) have fun everyone :)
Calvino Rabeni: it is I suppose one of the affordances of the West
Calvino Rabeni: or maybe Finnland too?
    Calvino Rabeni: Good night :)
Wol Euler: 'night feal, take care
    Wol Euler: *fael
    Qt Core: 'night Fael
Fael Illyar: yes, Finland too :)
    Fael Illyar waves.
    Calvino Rabeni: Bye :)
Wol Euler: a retreat in finnland in midsummer might be pretty cool
    --BELL--
Qt Core: in midwinter even cooler...
Calvino Rabeni: Yes, I suspect, it would be popular
Calvino Rabeni: as you wouldn't for example, need a flashlight
    Qt Core: hi Johnny
    Wol Euler: yep
Wol Euler: but you might have a lot of trouble sleeping
Wol Euler: I did in Leningrad
Wol Euler: *St Petersburg, sorry :)
Calvino Rabeni: Winter is good to catch up on sleeping
Calvino Rabeni: Do you follow the seasons, or try to regulate?
Wol Euler: I wish I could regulate, I hate high summer :(
    Calvino Rabeni: LIke right now?
    Wol Euler: yeah
Calvino Rabeni: The days are getting shorter again
Wol Euler: I really suffer inthis heat and humidity
Calvino Rabeni: OH, that would be nasty
Calvino Rabeni: This area has low humidity in the summer
Calvino Rabeni: I did nearly get used to hot season in SE Asia, but ... it is pretty wearing
Calvino Rabeni: the houses don't have AC in this area either
Wol Euler: I start to wilt if the temperature gets over 28 or so
Calvino Rabeni: except maybe, the wealthy
Qt Core: after a taste of china summer i'm not complkaining of italian's
Calvino Rabeni: I'm ok up to a few degrees under body temperature
Calvino Rabeni: Yes, and advantage of travel
Calvino Rabeni: I considered the California climate nearly ideal
Qt Core: i lost 5 kg in 3 days there (all sweat i presume)
Calvino Rabeni: you almost forget there is seasons and weather
Calvino Rabeni: What is your latitude, Qt?
Qt Core: 45 something i think
    Wol Euler: wow
Wol Euler: google would know :)
    Qt Core: 45'30''
    Qt Core: more or less
Calvino Rabeni: The places I live are at 42 and 47
Qt Core: you know, in google earth i can see my car in my garden ;-)
    Calvino Rabeni: funny
    Wol Euler: wow
Calvino Rabeni: I saw my car on google "street view"
Wol Euler: my mother is in street view, twice :)
Wol Euler: blurred of course, but if you know the house you can tell it's her
Qt Core: i once got the phone number of a shop i could not found in yellow pages as i knew where it was with

    google street view
    Wol Euler: :)
Qt Core: it was a mechanic where i leaved my car without taking note of shopname or phone number... silly me
    Wol Euler: very trusting.
Qt Core: it is still 100 meters from home
    --BELL--
Qt Core: that is a reason why if on a idealistic level i would like a rural life i would never have one, in town (center

town like where i live) i have almost everything in few 100 meters range
    Wol Euler nods.
Qt Core: and i can fake rural life with nearby parks... if i win my lazyness
    Wol Euler: :)
    Qt Core: sleeptime
    Qt Core: 'night all, ciao!
Wol Euler: ciao, qt, buona notte
Wol Euler: well, it's just thee and me, lad.
Wol Euler: and I think I should head towards bed too.
    Wol Euler: goodnight, take care
    Calvino Rabeni: :)
    Calvino Rabeni: asdfqr2
    Wol Euler: :)
    Calvino Rabeni: Good night Wol
Calvino Rabeni: Break time for me also
    Calvino Rabeni: Bye
