The Guardian for this meeting was Eliza Madrigal. The comments are by Eliza Madrigal, who opted for the 'wrong' spelling of mistique, to point to the heart of our fountain circle.

    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Santoshima :)bleu_001.png
    Bleu Oleander: hi :)
    Santoshima Resident: good morning :)
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Bleu :)
Eliza Madrigal: great to see you both
    Santoshima Resident: likewise :)
Eliza Madrigal zooms around to see presentations of appearances
Bleu Oleander: nice to see you both!

Eliza Madrigal: I thought to enlist the help of Boxy's ribbon to find my quote for the gates today, but it says:

                   "Oh noooos" "not working"

    Bleu Oleander: short cut :)
Bleu Oleander: nice to pick a date and read through it
Eliza Madrigal: well, this was after a while of looking into the wiki and thinking "Oh, this one... no, this one"
    Bleu Oleander: yes, sooo many
Eliza Madrigal: I set the timer today, for the first time in a while... thought to find something which highlighted the central idea of continual pauses
    Bleu Oleander: hi Raffila

    --BELL--

    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Raffila :)
Eliza Madrigal: Welcome back from travels, San
    Santoshima Resident: ty :)
Santoshima Resident: glad to be back
Raffila Millgrove: Hi bleu, Eliza, santoshima.
    Santoshima Resident: hello
Raffila Millgrove: was that your first visit to India or have you been before?bleu_002.png
Santoshima Resident: i've been on three other trips
Santoshima Resident: mostly to Maharashtra region, staying in one place
Bleu Oleander: what draws you to India?
    Santoshima Resident: study, my teachers
Bleu Oleander: what are you studying?
    Raffila Millgrove: hi Xirana
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Xirana :)
    Bleu Oleander: hi Xirana :)
Santoshima Resident: hmm ... yoga ...
Raffila Millgrove wrote down the name of the institute to learn more about it.
    Santoshima Resident: RIMYI
    Xirana Oximoxi: hi everyone :)
    Santoshima Resident: hello Xirana :)
Eliza Madrigal: enjoy that feeling of returning... familiar and new at once
Santoshima Resident: yes, very much so

Raffila Millgrove: "where" do you return santo? (doesn't know where you live)
    Santoshima Resident: canada / vancouver
Raffila Millgrove: oh what could be more different than India!
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Santoshima Resident: came back to the soft rain and grey skies
    Eliza Madrigal: a gentler place?
Santoshima Resident: clearer air, from passing over the pacific
Raffila Millgrove: I think of vancouver as soft.. i remember most the Bouchard Gardens and how good the fish and chips were.
    Santoshima Resident: :)
Santoshima Resident: never had before but take that as a tip to try
Santoshima Resident: bouchard gardens, in victoria, i think
    Santoshima Resident: on the island
Raffila Millgrove: yes, very near to Vancouver. beauitful. among the best in the world.
Eliza Madrigal: wonderful opportunity to be away for a time of concentrated practice
Santoshima Resident: yes, a blessing and privilege
Santoshima Resident: how is the event planning going, Bleu?

Eliza Madrigal: are there, in the yoga world, empowerments, as in Tibetan practices? I would guess there are particular skills to hone which may be similar
Bleu Oleander: we're still in the planning stages Santo
Santoshima Resident: hmm ... not quite, but perhaps similar in that it is conveyed by direct transmission. not so formalized as empowerments.
Bleu Oleander: the gates are just the first stage
Eliza Madrigal: ah, I see, thanks
Xirana Oximoxi: I am following with my camera the gates... they look nice....
Bleu Oleander: reminds me to remind you all to send me your favorite quotes :)
Eliza Madrigal: the gates are wonderful... really enjoying them

Raffila Millgrove: should that be everyone who could send quote or only Guardian?
Bleu Oleander: yes, nice to walk through

    --BELL--

Eliza Madrigal: Oh, please send along Raffila
    Xirana Oximoxi: everyone!!!!
Xiri_006.pngXirana Oximoxi: I think the most nice is to share the celebration with everyone that is taking part in our PaB sessions
    Bleu Oleander agrees
Eliza Madrigal: yes :) I was in bed the last few days and have enjoyed reading sessions
Eliza Madrigal: nice to see you returning a lot Raffila
Bleu Oleander: hope you're feeling better?
Eliza Madrigal: am getting there, thanks :)
Xirana Oximoxi: oh yes.... I hope you're recovered Eliza!!

Eliza Madrigal: feel for your loss of inventory Raffila
Eliza Madrigal: but also informed by the discussion which brought up interesting questions
Raffila Millgrove: i am starting again after much thought. It's invigorating and despressing at the same time. lol But i decided not to give up and retire.
    Eliza Madrigal nods
    Eliza Madrigal: understandable
Eliza Madrigal: guardians here don't need too many tools :)
Raffila Millgrove: my friend said to me, the new items RAffi will be better.. better scripted and they Are. found some amazing equiptment with wonderful animations. so richly designed. so it's ok.
Bleu Oleander wonders what happened to your inventory

Xirana Oximoxi: I find it very positive and the best attitude raffi...but, I see always SL as a 'programm' that maybe one day desapears...and what will rest are the most important for me...friends you've made here
Xirana Oximoxi: and that we can meet in another programm or chat or RL..or... :)
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Raffila Millgrove: these are tools.. that connect me with others.. that allow me to teach and share--and play. so I need them. It's like a caprtenter with no hammer or nails. that is how i think of it. it IS important.
    Xirana Oximoxi: ohhh wonderful!!! :)

Eliza Madrigal: have been thinking about Pema's metaphor of films... and the way one may be able to be caught up in content but then also, sort of underlying the content is the light... and of course the light doesn't negate the importance of the story
Raffila Millgrove: oh dear did Xirana crash suddenly there?
    Bleu Oleander: think so
    Eliza Madrigal: mhm

Eliza Madrigal: Another idea that has come up for the celebrations is envisioning PaB in 8 years... that's tricky
Eliza Madrigal: certainly suggests holding the SL context lightly
Raffila Millgrove: yes. that's a very hard.. idea to think on for me.

    --BELL--

Bleu Oleander: must slip out ... take care all :)
    Raffila Millgrove: bye
Santoshima Resident: best day, Bleu ~ peace
    Bleu Oleander: bye for now
    Eliza Madrigal whispers bye Bleu

Raffila Millgrove has a question for Eliza and Santo--how long have you been in PAB?
Eliza Madrigal: just over 3 years Raffila
Santoshima Resident: since this past summer
Eliza Madrigal: I found PaB just a few weeks after finding SL in general... and lingered... lingered...
    Santoshima Resident: brb

Raffila Millgrove:i think the 8 yrs.. that is a question those who already made rl connections--who have seen and been with one another--would answer very differently from those who only have participated in SL and for shorter time than since beginning.

Eliza Madrigal: that's partly why it seems interesting to me...
Eliza Madrigal: because we can become familiar
Eliza Madrigal: and it is refreshing to hear hm, off-the-cuff imaginations

Eliza Madrigal: the community aspect is more at the center of PaB lately than the explorations, which were/are the basis
    Santoshima Resident: *
Raffila Millgrove: this seems true to me.. as when i read the logs--comparing old with newer--then i don't read much about the practices.. the things that intersted everyone at the start.
    Raffila Millgrove: wb Xirana.
    Xirana Oximoxi: ty :)
    Eliza Madrigal: wb Xirana
Eliza Madrigal: It is a balance because the explorations are still in the conversation... but more in a dispersed way

Raffila Millgrove: Eiza brought up the imagining PAB 8 yrs out.. question.
Santoshima Resident: and for you, Raffila, how long at PaB?
Raffila Millgrove: oh i am brand new. only coming for about a month.

Xirana Oximoxi: ahh I guess PaB will be very different:) even if we are still here...we also change
    Eliza Madrigal: nods
Eliza Madrigal: and in ways we only guess at... still fun to guess :)

    San, Eliza, Raffila_005.png

Raffila Millgrove: i think it is a hard nut to crack for the newbie with so many who know one another so well. but very friendly and welcoming.
Eliza Madrigal: :) glad to hear Raffila, re friendly and welcoming

Eliza Madrigal: I felt very puzzled by the group when I first arrived... by the language... still remember vividly
Santoshima Resident: what puzzled? what do you remember of it?
Xirana Oximoxi: I come for more long...and I also have the feeling I don't know very well the people... :)
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Xirana Oximoxi: but I know what is important....nice people with whom I can learn and share and chat and have fun... :)
Eliza Madrigal: I was curious about the mixture of science terminology and "life as a lab"... I'd not really partaken in any sort of direct contemplation in a group way

    Xirana Oximoxi: hello druth:)
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Druth :)
    druth Vlodovic: hey
    Santoshima Resident: hello Druth :)
Eliza Madrigal: Druth how long at PaB? We've been talking about first impressions of the group and what it may be 8 years out
    Raffila Millgrove: hi druth.
druth Vlodovic: not sure, I think I found out about it from a friend
druth Vlodovic: the whole idea of spirituality without religion kind of interested me at the time

Eliza Madrigal: think you put your finger on something
Eliza Madrigal: I've sometimes described PaB as a group of non-group joiners
Eliza Madrigal: even though some of us have particular traditions and practices we are devoted to, etc
    druth Vlodovic: no-group lol
    Eliza Madrigal: :))
    Eliza Madrigal: pretty dress Xiria

    --BELL--

Eliza Madrigal: I see SL as a kind of leaky container (more so than RL?) so a vision 8 years out would spill out in various ways yet to be seen
    Alfred Kelberry: hi :)
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Boxy :))
    Xirana Oximoxi: hi Boxy! :)

Raffila Millgrove: nice analogy Eliza. it's hard to figure that time period when SL plays such a key role in the calculation.

Eliza Madrigal: you've been hiding, and the ribbon won't talk to me
    Santoshima Resident: hello Boxy :)
    Raffila Millgrove: hi boxy
    Eliza Madrigal: exactly Raffila
Alfred Kelberry: you fine elegant ladies :)
Raffila Millgrove: hehe. boxy is surrounded by beauty!
Eliza Madrigal: :) you're such a ladies box
    Alfred Kelberry: :)
    Alfred Kelberry: wuff!
Alfred Kelberry: a lot of creative souls
Alfred Kelberry: ah yes... the ribbon
Raffila Millgrove: excuse me ladies and boxy.. i must run along now. have a great day/eve all!
Eliza Madrigal: Nice to see you again Raffila
Santoshima Resident: me too, good to see all of you
    Alfred Kelberry: aww, ms raff...
Eliza Madrigal: Bye Santoshima, welcome back
Santoshima Resident: ty, take good care
Xirana Oximoxi: bye bye Raffi!! have a nice day

Alfred Kelberry: um, right, it's end of the session
    Eliza Madrigal: :) great timing

Eliza Madrigal: wow, timely quote for this session!
    Eliza Madrigal: [08:05] red ribbon:
Adams Rubble: I came in to SL looking for the art sites and then I found this group and I spend most of my time here http://wiki.playasbeing.org/Chat_Logs/2008/09/2008.09.14_07:00_-_Watching_Actions
    Alfred Kelberry: :)

Eliza Madrigal: we've been talking about how long we've been here and "8 years out"
Alfred Kelberry: ah, reflecting and dreaming :)
    Eliza Madrigal: mhm
Eliza Madrigal: also due to hunting for quotes for the gates
    Alfred Kelberry: :)

Eliza Madrigal: haha, what a koan... nice job Ribbon:
    [08:07] red ribbon:
Pema Pera: there are different degrees of ignoring Being. So-called outer knowledge ignores Being in a stronger degree than inner knowledge http://wiki.playasbeing.org/Chat_Logs/2008/12/2008.12.30_19:00_-_Prehistory_of_PaB_Dialogues_#1:_Pema_and_Stim

Xirana Oximoxi: I've hanged a quote from you boxy:)
    Eliza Madrigal: Oh?
Xirana Oximoxi: well Bleu has hanged it :)
    Alfred Kelberry: me?
    Xirana Oximoxi: yes...you..clever boxy :)
Alfred Kelberry: i'm afraid to ask... which one? :)
    Eliza Madrigal: :))) me too
    Eliza Madrigal: hahaha
Xirana Oximoxi: hehe you'll have to walk aroubnd to find:)
    Alfred Kelberry: um, ok :)
    Alfred Kelberry: i'll tread carefully
Xirana Oximoxi: it's just in front of the pavillion where we meet
Eliza Madrigal: ooh I found it but am not telling
    Eliza Madrigal: Nice quote
Xirana Oximoxi: I mean at the guardians sessions
    Xirana Oximoxi: :)
    Alfred Kelberry: *looks*
Xirana Oximoxi: hehe...what a wonderful tool the zoom :)
Alfred Kelberry: no zoom for me. i like walking :)
    Eliza Madrigal: world at fingertips
Eliza Madrigal: "who is zooming who"

    gates_007.png

Eliza Madrigal: I'm feeling a little dizzy again and need to lay down for a bit
Eliza Madrigal: Was so nice to see you all, enjoyed the session
    Xirana Oximoxi: ok...take care Eliza!!!!
Xirana Oximoxi: I also will go ...
    druth Vlodovic: bye guys
    Alfred Kelberry: hehe
Eliza Madrigal: Bye Druth, Xiri, Boxy (when he wonders back)
    Alfred Kelberry: neat :)
    Xirana Oximoxi: bye bye :)
    Xirana Oximoxi: you've found it?
Eliza Madrigal: maybe see you later at story time Druthy
    Xirana Oximoxi: :)
    Alfred Kelberry: yes :)
    Eliza Madrigal waves
    Alfred Kelberry: a bit lengthy
    druth Vlodovic: story time?
    druth Vlodovic: ah PP
druth Vlodovic: I was wonderign if Pab was doing it too lol
Xirana Oximoxi: welll sometimes you say something more than wufff :))
    Alfred Kelberry: yes, apparently :)
    Xirana Oximoxi: :)
Alfred Kelberry: i should pick something too
Xirana Oximoxi: I go now... see you soon!!! :)
    Alfred Kelberry: bye :)
druth Vlodovic: I guess we have one last crack at the theme, too bad I missed most of it
druth Vlodovic: what brought you here and kept you boxy?
    Alfred Kelberry: to pab?
    druth Vlodovic: yes

    --BELL--

    Alfred Kelberry: um...
    Alfred Kelberry: careful curiosity :)
    druth Vlodovic: curiosity about what?
Alfred Kelberry: of this group of people. i heard from pema about this group, but had an impression of it being overly spiritual, so i was reluctant to step in at first.

druth Vlodovic: you don't like spiritual?
Alfred Kelberry: in moderate amounts :)
druth Vlodovic: the spirituality here is pretty moderate :)
Alfred Kelberry: as it turned out :)

druth Vlodovic: I had the impression that you came from PI during the troubles
    Alfred Kelberry: pi?
druth Vlodovic: lol, I guess not
druth Vlodovic: how did you know pema?
    Alfred Kelberry: from kira
Alfred Kelberry: he hosted various astronomy events that i was interested in
druth Vlodovic: so you prefer the science angle?
Alfred Kelberry: then he delegated the astronomy business to mica and moved on with the pab
    Alfred Kelberry: very much so

Alfred Kelberry: a little mix of "zen" is good, but it's science that keeps the framework going :)
druth Vlodovic: the way i figure it anything that requires a touchstone to reality gets accused of being "science" :)
Alfred Kelberry: accused... well, i try to stay on the pragmatic side of things

druth Vlodovic: do you find pab pragmatic?
    Alfred Kelberry: hell no! :)
    druth Vlodovic: lol
    druth Vlodovic: I noticed
druth Vlodovic: "all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy"
druth Vlodovic: so there is pragmatism if you want there to be :)

Alfred Kelberry: i see it as an experiment of sorts. in social, psychology context.
    Alfred Kelberry: balance
druth Vlodovic: is it producing results?
Alfred Kelberry: oh yes, lots of data
Alfred Kelberry: datamining can be tricky though :)

    Alfred Kelberry: what about you?
druth Vlodovic: reams and reams, I find it very hit and miss :(
Alfred Kelberry: did you come from the enigmatic "pi"? :)
    druth Vlodovic: lol, no
druth Vlodovic: "philosophy Island" a discussion sim that suffered a lot of politics back in the day
druth Vlodovic: I generally avoided it
    Alfred Kelberry: oh

    --BELL--

druth Vlodovic: for some reason i had you associated with it
Alfred Kelberry: philo talks can be heated
druth Vlodovic: it's a lot of fun
druth Vlodovic: I was talking to pila one time about it and he showed me a Buddhist exercise where people debated at the tops of their lungs :)
Alfred Kelberry: no, for that, i have folks like gilles, pila, and pab as well :)
Alfred Kelberry: pila is awesome. i like him.
Alfred Kelberry: sadly, he doesn't come here often
druth Vlodovic: I don't get to talk to him very often
    Alfred Kelberry: yes

druth Vlodovic: I manage to miss kira all the time
Alfred Kelberry: but whenever i do, it's always a very pleasant philo discussion :)
Alfred Kelberry: well, only a handful of workshops left. easy to miss.
druth Vlodovic: I think they are set every second week on my work days lol
    Alfred Kelberry: oh well :)
    Alfred Kelberry: oh! brb
druth Vlodovic: time for me is very malleable, so it can be hard to keep track of things
    druth Vlodovic: hb
Alfred Kelberry: ah, sorry. i was actually going to have a snack and you kind lady distracted me with a wonderful talk :)
druth Vlodovic: ah poor starving thing
Alfred Kelberry: so, i thank you and will have to scoot
    Alfred Kelberry: :)
druth Vlodovic: ok, have fun boxy
    Alfred Kelberry: bye!
