    Raffila Millgrove: hello xirana
Xirana Oximoxi: hi Raffi! nice to see you :)
    Raffila Millgrove: you too.
Xirana Oximoxi: it seems a quite Saturday :)
    Raffila Millgrove: oh?
    Raffila Millgrove: something special happens?

    --BELL--

Xirana Oximoxi: I was wondering if it is the right hour... I think in USA you change time this weekend...isn't it?
Raffila Millgrove: oh yes we do. not til tomorrow tho.
Raffila Millgrove: on Sunday. we turn clocks ahead.
Xirana Oximoxi: nothing special...just that I was sitting alone:)
Xirana Oximoxi: ok... I will be aware and change it too to come to SL at right times:)
Xirana Oximoxi: in Europe I think we do a week later
Xirana Oximoxi: strange how we do 'play' with time:))
Xirana Oximoxi: I went to visit the Art installation you recomended..it's amazing....the one inspired by Hieronimus Bosch works
Raffila Millgrove: oh i am glad. wasn't it something.
Raffila Millgrove: you see.. why maybe it was hard to describe. Spirit.
Xirana Oximoxi: well I knew the paintings of Bosch...so it's easy to relate the installation...really well done)
    Xirana Oximoxi: ooops....you've crashed!! :)
    Xirana Oximoxi: wb:)
    Raffila Millgrove: ty
Raffila Millgrove: oh this crashing. it's difficult to exercise patience after so many years here of stabiolity. now. i am crashing. constantly.
Raffila Millgrove: i submit a ticket to LL finally.. to ask their help. they could not find the reason.
Xirana Oximoxi: oh! sorry to hear that...it's an awful sensation...I know..I hate it
Xirana Oximoxi: do you think it's because of LL ?
    Raffila Millgrove: yes.
Raffila Millgrove: i think.. partly is LL, and the other part is my connection. My cable.. service has been extremely bad lately.
Raffila Millgrove: dropping speeds to nearly zero.. suddenly.
Xirana Oximoxi: yes....usually connection is also a reason...
Raffila Millgrove: anyway i was saying. may i friend you.. as i see you have your own gallery in your picks.
Xirana Oximoxi: oh yes...thank you :)
Xirana Oximoxi: well I do paint in a more traditional way:)
Raffila Millgrove: i went to see Zen Arado's gallery. now i go to visit yours.
Xirana Oximoxi: ahhh wonderful! thank you very much :)
Xirana Oximoxi: today Zen has an opening
Raffila Millgrove: when i was a newbie here. my first group... i joined this art group where SL artist brought their work.. and put on wall and we all talk about it.
Raffila Millgrove: it was such a wonderful group. lasted maybe a year . fabulous
    Raffila Millgrove: then we'd vote
    Raffila Millgrove: and ...
Xirana Oximoxi: yes...SL is a nice place to share what we do:) I love it
Raffila Millgrove: all the work that rec'd firsts.. at these meets. we had exhibit .. wonderful.
    Xirana Oximoxi: hi steve:)
    Raffila Millgrove: hi Steve
    stevenaia Michinaga: waves

    --BELL--

Xirana Oximoxi: are you also a painter or artist in some way Raffi?
Xirana Oximoxi: well...in some way we all are:)
Raffila Millgrove: i used to represent artists.
    Xirana Oximoxi: oh! very nice:)
Raffila Millgrove: but not fine arts--advertising. tho all my artists were fine artists as well. they just pay the bills by working commercially.
Xirana Oximoxi: a lot of artists must do what they can to pay the bills:)
Raffila Millgrove: and i curated exhibits etc.. too and judged.
Raffila Millgrove: so.. i was the only one who did not bring work.. to those meets, but was there as "critic". lol
    Xirana Oximoxi: :)
Xirana Oximoxi: what I love of SL is that, if you want, you can avoid critics and curators:))...you share what you do with friends and have fun...
Raffila Millgrove: and you know Xirana.. even tho I know Bosch's work.. when i went to see Spirit.. i saw it differently. even tho it's influenced. i saw something else. you know what i mean?
Raffila Millgrove: the immersive angle.. being "inside". being 3D.. suddenly it was something else entirely.
Xirana Oximoxi: absolutely Raffi....first it's a 3D work...you can immerse yourself in the ambience.... what with paintings is more difficult
    Xirana Oximoxi: yes!!! :)
Raffila Millgrove: steve..we are talking on this Sl installation called Spirit. i think i gave you the LM to it?
stevenaia Michinaga: I don;t think I got to it, although we did take a field trip to your place the other night :)
stevenaia Michinaga: I tend to loose LM's
    Xirana Oximoxi: :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: dissappear into inventory
Raffila Millgrove: oh gosh.. it was so unfinished. please come over again next month. i pass you the Spirit one.
Xirana Oximoxi: this one is really amazing:)
Xirana Oximoxi: can I have the LM to your place Raffi?..I also would like to visit!
Raffila Millgrove: this is.. the Spirit exhibit.
Raffila Millgrove: Xiri.. i feel awful that people came to see.. before the place was even half done.. it was awful!
stevenaia Michinaga: hmmm, yes, I have it and I do think I saw it
    stevenaia Michinaga: (remembers now)
Raffila Millgrove: come when i get my cherry blossoms up.. i have the whole place torn down.. and up right now.
Xirana Oximoxi: ahhh ok...I understand...I can wait:)

Raffila Millgrove: i was reading the log.. from a quote that boxy's ribbon gave yesterday.
Raffila Millgrove: it was so interesting.. that page--because it was Maxine (the dream lady).. she was brand new here and Pema was helping her to learn to walk and move camera.
Xirana Oximoxi: yesterday I went to Happy hour with Yaku :)...it's nice to meet using voice too...it feels a little different...
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, nice variety here
Raffila Millgrove: oh yes. how was that? I miss it. Yaku says he will send notice the friends next time. he forgot this time.
    Xirana Oximoxi: it's every friday.....:)
Xirana Oximoxi: we have been talking about women's day...and a book of an Iranian woman that has been in prison and explains her experience...
stevenaia Michinaga: there should be an interesting talk tomorrow at 1 at the kira cafe, historical in nature
    Raffila Millgrove: oh?
stevenaia Michinaga: there is an Art History Workshop that takes place there, I will look up the email
Raffila Millgrove: yesterday we celebrated with readings, the International Women's Day.. Here in US, they dont mark the day at all. never mention it.
Raffila Millgrove: I went over to the last art history talk.. about trade with China.

    --BELL--

Xirana Oximoxi: Ghosts of revolution writen by Shahla Talebi
stevenaia Michinaga: perhaps not, sometime things dissappear in my email inventory as well

Raffila Millgrove: getting back to the log--if i may. The sections I read were when PAB was only one month old.. and Pema was helping people.. one at a time.. to learn about his nine second exercise. Lot of insights in it.

Xirana Oximoxi: that's the book...and as usual in PaB...we jumped from one subject to others:)
    Raffila Millgrove: hehe.
Raffila Millgrove: well it's likely there is relationship between the two.
stevenaia Michinaga: :) nods, early days of PaB were as interesting
Raffila Millgrove: (be helpful if i knew the book.. to draw the comparison. lol)

Raffila Millgrove: what i notice.. is how Maxine. she ask him immediately.. if she did not understand to repeat.
stevenaia Michinaga: met her in RL, a wonderful person
Raffila Millgrove: and he patiently would repeat in different ways--until she was clear.. then they move to next point. Aside from the content.. the dynamic was fascinating. It was a very good picture of communication--of patience to take time to get each point clear before going to next.
Raffila Millgrove: and also impressive that she would stop him.. each time she needed help.
    Raffila Millgrove: most people don't.
Raffila Millgrove: they listen and they don't interrupt. and .. miss things. as result. very fascinting to watch this communication style.
stevenaia Michinaga: I was always impress how pema can begin at the begining in any subject in that way
Raffila Millgrove: i liked how easily he could rephrase. say same thing in different ways til he found one--that resonate with Maxine.

stevenaia Michinaga: ... sorry, it;s next Sunday

stevenaia Michinaga: March 18 - "Weird Copies of Carnage": Re/Membering the Union Soldier in Granite and Bronze - Sarah Beetham (Papagena Pevensey), University of Delaware In the years immediately following the American Civil War, a new monument type emerged: the memorial to the citizen soldier. These columns, obelisks, triumphal arches, and carved and cast figures for the first time recognized the common American man on a massive scale. In this workshop talk, Beetham explores how soldier monuments in the former Union states presented a sanitized ideal, and how this ideal sculpted soldier contrasted with the veteran's real and horrifying bodily experience of war. In exploring the often one-to-one relationship between the sculpted body and the veteran's body, Beetham reveals disturbing tensions that blur art and reality. The workshop will meet in the Kira Cafe at 12 noon SLT. http://slurl.com/secondlife/Mieum/212/43/103 For a teaser photo, see: http://rci.rutgers.edu/~beetham/art_..._SL/index.html

    stevenaia Michinaga: hi San
Raffila Millgrove: wow. that sounds good, doesn't it?
    Xirana Oximoxi: sounds really interesting:)
    Xirana Oximoxi: hi San :)
    Raffila Millgrove: Hello santoshima.
    Santoshima Resident: hello
stevenaia Michinaga: it should be on the Kira Cafe Schedule, these talks are usually very interesting

    Snapshot_004_2.jpg

Xirana Oximoxi: we have been talking about art and also about some quotes of the beginning of PaB... how Pema has the patience to explain everything...
Xirana Oximoxi: and now Steve explains of a talk that will take place tomorrow:)
    stevenaia Michinaga: next week
    Raffila Millgrove: er.. next Sunday.
    Santoshima Resident: hmm, here
    Raffila Millgrove: week from tomorrow.
    Santoshima Resident: ?
    Raffila Millgrove: at Kira cafe.
    stevenaia Michinaga: march 18th
    Santoshima Resident: oh, what time?
stevenaia Michinaga: Adam's Art History Workshop
    stevenaia Michinaga: 1:00
    Xirana Oximoxi: ahh ok:)
    Santoshima Resident: oh, right

stevenaia Michinaga: I think Pema set the tone for the exploration, that of listening, questioning, observing, learning

    Xirana Oximoxi: 'listening'...important point:)
stevenaia Michinaga: I find it is much better to understand what you even disagree with than argue with it
Raffila Millgrove: yes. understanding. to know the other's perception. even if you can't share it--to understand. means a lot to me.

    --BELL--

Xirana Oximoxi: SL has teached me to be more patient..and to take my time to observe and to listen ... maybe it has also something to do with English language (that is not easy for me) and of writen chat... but I think that I have learned to go slowly in my RL too...
    Xirana Oximoxi: that's good :)
    Raffila Millgrove: it is good.
Xirana Oximoxi: and now I must go...I wish you all a nice day!!!
    Xirana Oximoxi: :)
    Xirana Oximoxi: see you soon!
    stevenaia Michinaga: bye, thanks
Raffila Millgrove: long ago i was on the board of directors of my church. our pastor--he was dragging us down.. awful. I was urging .. that we do something. And no one seem to listen.. and this elder took me aside and explain--that I could see .. all the reasons.. but that we had to wait til each person on the board could also see from his/her own view.. and then when we had consensus.. then we would take action. It was a difficult lesson to learn. but i obeyed his advice.. and waited quietly as he said. and he was right in how much better it was that everyone was in same understanding.
stevenaia Michinaga: :), yes patience accomplises much
stevenaia Michinaga: the breakfast dishes await me... good seeing you again Raffila, and wb San
Raffila Millgrove: when you are young.. maybe you think faster, you want quicker action... and I was young. Now i understand better that time must pass for everyone to agree--
Santoshima Resident: bye stevenaia, see ya
Raffila Millgrove: you too Steve. have a great day. I must run also. Bye Santoshima.
    Santoshima Resident: so long
Raffila Millgrove: i love your outfit!
    Santoshima Resident: ty
    Raffila Millgrove: bye
Santoshima Resident: am in awe of your boots
    Raffila Millgrove: old Bax ones.
    Raffila Millgrove: ty
Santoshima Resident: g'day PaB recorder ~ everyone out there: go see "Pina" if you can. Namaskar ~ ~
