    Arisia Vita: welcome Riddle
    Catrinamonblue Resident: Hi Riddle
Riddle Sideways: Hi Cat and Ari

Riddle Sideways: just starting to think of the meaning of Meaning as a topic
    Catrinamonblue Resident: :)
Riddle Sideways: often a dillusional thing
    Catrinamonblue Resident: in what way?
Riddle Sideways: often thinking you got the meaning of anything
    Riddle Sideways: then it changes
Arisia Vita: we each create out own meaning, which changes from moment to moment...
    Arisia Vita: our
Arisia Vita: as we also change...
Riddle Sideways: yet feel that our Meaning is some absolute
Riddle Sideways: and then the new one is the absolute
Riddle Sideways: The Meaning of Life, the Universe and Everything !!!!!
    Riddle Sideways: = 42
    Catrinamonblue Resident: :)
Arisia Vita: I don't believe in absolutes, for to me that requires that we not admit that we could be wrong.
Catrinamonblue Resident: fluid as the sea rolling over the sand
Catrinamonblue Resident: meanings change from hand to hand :)
Arisia Vita: If you really want to rediscover wonder, you need to step outside of that tiny terrified space of rightness and look around at each other, and look out at the vastness and complexity and mystery of the universe and be able to say wow, I don't know, maybe I'm wrong. - Kathryn Schulz: On Being Wrong
Riddle Sideways: internally yes, but externally there seem to be so many that scream absolute meanings at us
Arisia Vita: one wonders why they must scream....
    Riddle Sideways: ty, Ari
Arisia Vita: There is probably more meaning in the sighing of the wind than in the screeching of a peacock.
    Catrinamonblue Resident: nods
Bleu Oleander: 's current display-name is "Bleu".
Arisia Vita: The glory of creation is in its infinite diversity, and the ways our differences combine to create meaning and beauty. Star Trek,"Is There In Truth No Beauty?"
Riddle Sideways: There is a TV show John Stewart's Daily show. that shows vid clips of broadcasters screaming the meaning of whatever at us over time. How those meanings change is really entertaining
    Arisia Vita: welcome Blue
    Riddle Sideways: Hi Bleu
    Bleu Oleander: hi all :)
    Catrinamonblue Resident: Hi Bleu

Arisia Vita: I often watch those show with the sound turned off...
    Riddle Sideways: great outfit Bleu
    Bleu Oleander: ty Riddle :)
    Bleu-outfit_001crop.jpg
Riddle Sideways: are those people around you?
    Bleu Oleander: Magrittish :)
Bleu Oleander: Magritte is one of my favorite artists
                             --BELL--

Riddle Sideways: remembers Pink Floyd cover artwork
    Bleu Oleander: haha yes!
Riddle Sideways: The Artist has the 'Meaning' of the painting, photo, statue, piece
Riddle Sideways: then another Artist re-uses it
    Riddle Sideways: with another meaning
Bleu Oleander: good artists borrow, great artists steal ... is that how it goes?
Arisia Vita: and each person who experiences the art adds his own meaning...
    Catrinamonblue Resident: nods

Riddle Sideways: any 'Meaning' eye receive has passed through so many other redirects
    Bleu Oleander: yes!
Riddle Sideways: yet, eye think it is "THE Meaning"
    Bleu Oleander: :)
    Riddle Sideways: for the moment

Bleu Oleander: found a great quote ....
Bleu Oleander: We cut nature up, organize it into concepts, and ascribe significances as we do, largely because we are parties to an agreement to organize it in this way—an agreement that holds throughout our speech community and is codified in the patterns of our language (…) all observers are not led by the same physical evidence to the same picture of the universe, unless their linguistic backgrounds are similar, or can in some way be calibrated.”" B. Whorf

    Arisia Vita: great, ty bleu
    Riddle Sideways: ty
    Catrinamonblue Resident: neat ty :)
Riddle Sideways: so reminesant of chats Bleu and Pema would have here long ago
Arisia Vita: and for those who worry about not being something...When you define youself by what you aren't instead of what you are, you miss the moments which give life its meaning.
Bleu Oleander: yes, loved our conversations :)
Riddle Sideways: need to go re-read, but am left with the notion Bleu was playing the part of "I don't get your Meaning"
    Riddle Sideways: over and over

Bleu Oleander: another quote ... this one from Magritte on his art ...
Bleu Oleander: My painting is visible images which conceal nothing; they evoke mystery and, indeed, when one sees one of my pictures, one asks oneself this simple question, "What does that mean?" It does not mean anything, because mystery means nothing either, it is unknowable.

Arisia Vita: Sometimes the test is not to find the answer, but to see how one reacts to the realization that there is no answer.
    Catrinamonblue Resident: :)
Bleu Oleander: I think a good conversation is when both people try to get the other's meaning ... come to understand each other
Catrinamonblue Resident: I have told my kids that sometime I just don't know the answer to the question :) and that it's ok not to know
    Bleu Oleander: yes!
    Arisia Vita: so true
Riddle Sideways: interesting uses of the word "one", without meaning "One"
                             --BELL--
Riddle Sideways: So many chats here are about giving and getting the meanings
    Riddle Sideways: we really try
    Riddle Sideways: the sharings
    Riddle Sideways: the bringing along
Riddle Sideways: Few ever say that they have The meaning of it
Riddle Sideways: but willing to converse
Arisia Vita: Believe those who are seeking the truth; doubt those who find it. - Andr Gide
Catrinamonblue Resident: we are always seeking because there really are no answers :)
Bleu Oleander: the truth ... fuzzy subject :)
Catrinamonblue Resident: the three edge sword
Arisia Vita: the best thing about seeking the truth, is having friends along to seek it with you...
    Catrinamonblue Resident: :)
    Riddle Sideways: oooo like that
    Bleu Oleander: :)
Riddle Sideways: Magritte's quote says his paintings have no meanings, but still seem to scream that there is something behind them
Bleu Oleander: ha! you make your own meaning :)
Arisia Vita: when Bleu dances, so do her friends... :)
    Bleu Oleander: ok I'm off
Riddle Sideways: a canvas full of the invite to make your own meanings
Bleu Oleander: have a great day everyone :)
    Catrinamonblue Resident: Bye Bleu :)
    Bleu Oleander ⊱ smiles ⊰
Arisia Vita: when Bleu leaves, I know the meaning of "blue" :)
    Riddle Sideways: :)
    Catrinamonblue Resident: awww hugs ((Ari))
Riddle Sideways: funny how most go off into private meditations on the Meaning
Riddle Sideways: then want to force their's onto everybody
    Riddle Sideways: well, not force
Riddle Sideways: but tell everybody about it
Arisia Vita: instead of being satisfied with holding it in their own heart
    Catrinamonblue Resident: attachment
    Catrinamonblue Resident: validation from others?
    Riddle Sideways: probably
Catrinamonblue Resident: sometimes a discussion on the meaning of a word changes us
    Riddle Sideways: hopefully
                             --BELL--
Riddle Sideways: spending a week on a single word topic.
Arisia Vita: Words are the clothes meaning wears to go out in public, and are as subject to fashion.
Riddle Sideways: Four times a day discussing it or maybe not.
Riddle Sideways: makes very interesting reads
    Catrinamonblue Resident: :)
    Riddle Sideways: not just words
Riddle Sideways: as Bleu points out
    Riddle Sideways: a painting
    Riddle Sideways: a song
    Arisia Vita: life
    Riddle Sideways: nature
    Catrinamonblue Resident: everyone
    Arisia Vita: reality
Riddle Sideways: a cat's eyes trying to point out the obivious
Arisia Vita: a riddle observed from the side... :)
    Riddle Sideways: :)
Riddle Sideways: the words of a poem. so ellusive
Riddle Sideways: a Koan from a different point of view, Ari
Arisia Vita: You express an idea in your own words, but convey it in someone else's.
Riddle Sideways: and the listener might not know that the flutes are carrying the meaning now, with all that orchestra noise going on
Riddle Sideways: must the composer write a thesis on what you should be listening to and get
Riddle Sideways: no, just leave it for exploration
Arisia Vita: is the symphony for the composer? or the listener?
    Arisia Vita: or both?
    Riddle Sideways: and maybe more
Arisia Vita: alas, I must leave at 8...it was great being with you...
Arisia Vita: be well and happy till we meet again, which will be soon I hope
Catrinamonblue Resident: be well Ari ty
Riddle Sideways: have your best day
Arisia Vita: you two have already made that possible... :)
    Riddle Sideways: must leave also
    Riddle Sideways: :)
    Catrinamonblue Resident: bye Riddle :)
Riddle Sideways: bye and thank you
