    Aphrodite Macbain: Hey Wol!
Wol Euler: hello aph, back in a sec
    Aphrodite Macbain: k
Bleu Oleander: 's current display-name is "Bleu".
    Bleu Oleander: hiya :)
    Aphrodite Macbain: Hi Bleu
Aphrodite Macbain: I love those masks you put up in druth's build
    Bleu Oleander: oh great :D
Bleu Oleander: druth's idea ... i'm just the tech
Aphrodite Macbain: they look a little bigger than when I saw them last
Bleu Oleander: i have to go look later
Aphrodite Macbain: did you just change the numbers?
Bleu Oleander: druth can edit them
    Aphrodite Macbain: nods
Bleu Oleander: so just stretched them
Aphrodite Macbain: oh I wondered if you changed the diameter
Bruce Mowbray: 's current display-name is "Bruce".
    Bleu Oleander: hi Bruce
    Bruce Mowbray: Hello, everyone!
    Aphrodite Macbain: Hiya Bruce
Wol Euler: back, heloo aph and bruce
    Aphrodite Macbain: wb Woly
Bruce Mowbray: Hello, Woly, Bleu, and Aph.
    Bruce Mowbray loves Aph's mask.
Wol Euler: oh, who's that next to you, Bruce?
    Bruce Mowbray: The masked woman!
Aphrodite Macbain: I'm wearing one of Bleu's masks she made for druth's pavilion

    Pavilion Jan 20_002.jpg

Wol Euler: photo for the log :)
Aphrodite Macbain: It is so bright in here and I have turned the light to sunset. Wonder why
Bleu Oleander: anyone else want a mask?
Bruce Mowbray: I'd love one, Bleu.
Aphrodite Macbain: wonder why mine is stripy
Bleu Oleander: you might have to make yours bigger Bruce
Bleu Oleander: stretch it a bit
    Bruce Mowbray: kk.
Bruce Mowbray: I lost my antlers somewhere along the way...
    Aphrodite Macbain: OK smile everyone

    Bleu Oleander: same attachment point
    Aphrodite Macbain: lol
Aphrodite Macbain: Bruce the explorer with pith helmet

    BELL

Aphrodite Macbain: are you a little warmer now Wol?
Wol Euler: yes, thanks, after 30 hours it's toasty warm at last
Aphrodite Macbain: good, well insulated windows?

Wol Euler: windows leak air like nobody’s business, I'm going to draft strip them this week

Aphrodite Macbain: What is the theme this coming week - I'm unable to focus on the board
    Bleu Oleander: "hidden Layers"
    Wol Euler: "hidden layers"
    Bleu Oleander: :)
Aphrodite Macbain: ahh layers of insulation keeps us warm
Bleu Oleander: it's warmed up to the 70's here :))
    Aphrodite Macbain: OMG
    Aphrodite Macbain: Layers of Ozone...
Bleu Oleander: lovely to have doors and windows open
Aphrodite Macbain: bet the dogs love it too
    Bleu Oleander: oh yes!
Aphrodite Macbain: What can we say about hidden layers?
    Bleu Oleander: can't see them
    Aphrodite Macbain: lol
Wol Euler: they’re hard to see
    Wol Euler: snap
    Bleu Oleander: :)
Aphrodite Macbain: how do we know they're there?
Aphrodite Macbain: touch? smell? 6th sense?
    Wol Euler: observation?
Bleu Oleander: can test for them
Bleu Oleander: invent tools to see them
Aphrodite Macbain: hmmm what kind of tools?
Bleu Oleander: i.e. vision has many layers to the process that we're not able to see
    Aphrodite Macbain: listening tools?
Bruce Mowbray: Then they wouldn't be hidden, would they?

    Layers of scopes

    Bleu Oleander: microscopes, telescopes etc.
Aphrodite Macbain: what, Bruce, the tools?
Bleu Oleander: we uncover new layers all the time
Aphrodite Macbain: but if they were invisible (hidden) microscopes wouldn't work
Bruce Mowbray: Not the tools - the layers.
    Aphrodite Macbain: same same
Bleu Oleander: invisible to us with our limited senses
Wol Euler: then we'll invent an unhideoscope
    Aphrodite Macbain: :-D
    Aphrodite Macbain: a discernoscope
    Wol Euler: revealoscope
Bleu Oleander: for example atoms - never could see them until now
Bruce Mowbray hides among the hidden layers.
Aphrodite Macbain: we'd have to look for traces of where they have been
Wol Euler: one could say that they definitely exist
Wol Euler: electrons and protons are the hidden layer behind atoms
Wol Euler: atoms are the hidden layer behind molecules
Bleu Oleander: and quarks behind that
Wol Euler: molecules are the hidden layer behind cells
Aphrodite Macbain: so the smaller they are the more hidden they become?
Wol Euler: not just small, subsumed in the higher level
Bleu Oleander: our senses are limited
Bleu Oleander: even the very big can be hidden
Wol Euler: elephant in the kitchen
Bleu Oleander: we used to think that our galaxy was it
    Wol Euler nods.
Bleu Oleander: now we know there are billions of galaxies
Aphrodite Macbain: yes it is so large we are not even aware of it
Aphrodite Macbain: How would we see that?
Bleu Oleander: my dog hides his head and thinks we can't see the other 90 lbs of him he  he
    Aphrodite Macbain: lol
    Wol Euler smiles.
Aphrodite Macbain: like a canine ostrich
    Bleu Oleander: exactly
Aphrodite Macbain: we cant see our faces
    Bleu Oleander: right
Aphrodite Macbain: unless we look in a mirror, but even so we never see how we really are
Bleu Oleander: trust the mirror :)
Aphrodite Macbain: I'd prefer not to!
Aphrodite Macbain: So - we can't judge a book by its outer layer
    Bleu Oleander: never could
Aphrodite Macbain: Unless we learn more about the writer
Aphrodite Macbain: and then we can make a better guess
Aphrodite Macbain: I wonder how successful I would be if I judged each of you by how you look like right now
Bruce Mowbray: afk for a sec.... gotta stir crock pot.
    Aphrodite Macbain: what's cooking?
    --BELL--
Bruce Mowbray: Just a simple sort-of stew: Brussels sprouts, onions, carrots, chicken . . . Makes a nice smell in the kitchen.
    Wol Euler: mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
    Aphrodite Macbain: yum
    Bleu Oleander: brb
    Aphrodite Macbain: :-)

    Smell layers

Aphrodite Macbain: nothing like a nice smell in the kitchen
Bruce Mowbray: ooops.. I almost threw off my mask with that laughing.
Aphrodite Macbain thinks that even smell can cover up other layers of smell
Bruce Mowbray: In MY kitchen, yes, it surely can!
Bruce Mowbray ponders smells coming in layers.
Aphrodite Macbain: what are some of the other levels Bruce?
    Aphrodite Macbain: Perhaps Bear
Bruce Mowbray: I notice the scented candle more when I stand up.
    Aphrodite Macbain: hot air rises
Bruce Mowbray: Bear smells it all without judgments.
Aphrodite Macbain: maybe we need to stand up more
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, he probably can't smell the candle.
Aphrodite Macbain: or doesn’t need to stand up to smell it
Bruce Mowbray: Yeppers, that's probably it.
Aphrodite Macbain: I think we need patience to discern other layers, and a willingness to look/smell/listen
Aphrodite Macbain: I tend to make snap judgments- unconsciously
Bleu Oleander: I think most do
Bruce Mowbray: This morning we said that every "up" or "lower" or "hidden" layer is a matter of relative circumstance of the observers... and that would hold true for Bear, also.
Aphrodite Macbain: nods. Attitude is almost everything as well as circumstance
Bruce Mowbray: If I were the size of a molecule, I wouldn't be able to see Bear at all.
    Bruce Mowbray: nor he, me.
Bruce Mowbray: Well, even a molecule with an excellent attitude....
Bleu Oleander: what its like to be an ant :)
Bruce Mowbray: wouldn't be able to see him.
Aphrodite Macbain: yes- we need to stand back, waaaay back to see some things clearly
Aphrodite Macbain: especially if we are "inside" them
Aphrodite Macbain: in fact we would have to step outside
Bruce Mowbray wonders if "seeing clearly" is even possible, considering all those hidden layers.
Bleu Oleander: think of all the microbes that live inside us ...
Aphrodite Macbain: maybe dropping some of them can help
    Bleu Oleander: we're their universes
    Aphrodite Macbain: yes
    Bruce Mowbray: ohhhiccckkkyyyypooooo!
    Bleu Oleander: hahaha!
    Aphrodite Macbain: why yuk?
Bruce Mowbray: But what are THEY dropping in there???
    Aphrodite Macbain: lol
Wol Euler: useful enzymes, a lot of the time
Bleu Oleander: 10x as many microbes as human cells in us
    Aphrodite Macbain: laughs hysterically
Aphrodite Macbain: no matter how many showers we take
Bruce Mowbray: I hope they all feel at home.
Bleu Oleander: that would be a good thing
Aphrodite Macbain: well - I wish my flue microbes would go away
    Bleu Oleander: me too!
Bruce Mowbray: Ohhh. I'm sorry, Aph.
    Aphrodite Macbain: still sick Bleu?
    Bleu Oleander: getting there
Bruce Mowbray: I've been staying away from other people, trying not to catch it.
Bruce Mowbray: So far, so good.
Aphrodite Macbain: It's just at that stage where my body aches and I feel dizzy
    Bruce Mowbray: Oh my.
Bleu Oleander: two weeks already ... yuck
    Bruce Mowbray: OH MY GOSH!
Bleu Oleander: and I had a flu shot
Bruce Mowbray: So did I, Bleu.
Aphrodite Macbain: maybe I'll lie down; so did I
Aphrodite Macbain: read a book: The Shift
Bruce Mowbray: I'm not leaving the farm until this epidemic breaks.
    Wol Euler: hello korel

    Korel Laloix: Heya
    Bruce Mowbray: Heya, Kori.
    Aphrodite Macbain: Hiya Krel
    Bleu Oleander: hey Kori :)
    Aphrodite Macbain: Korel GTSY
    Korel Laloix smiles

    Pavilion Jan 20_001.jpg

Aphrodite Macbain: how are you feeling?
    Bruce Mowbray: I can't see you very well, actually. . . .
Aphrodite Macbain: that's because you're wearing a mask Bruce
Bruce Mowbray: This mask makes another "hidden layer" -- or covers some up, anyway.
    Aphrodite Macbain: nods
    Bruce Mowbray also nods.
Korel Laloix: It is only mildly creepy.
Aphrodite Macbain: a visible layer so it's easier to remove
Bruce Mowbray: This is Bleu's "explorer mask."

    Fifth Anniversary Celebrations

Aphrodite Macbain: Anyone have ideas about how we can celebrate our 5th anniversary?
Bruce Mowbray: You think it's creepy from out there, you should see it from in here!
Wol Euler: hidden layers of Aph's mind :)
    Korel Laloix smiles
Aphrodite Macbain: ah- pretty thin layers then
    Aphrodite Macbain: :-]
Aphrodite Macbain: I have been compiling a chronology of PAB
Aphrodite Macbain: learning about all the old timers.. like you Wol, and Bleu
Bruce Mowbray: cake, ice cream, balloons, drama, art, tours, dancing, fun stuff....
Wol Euler: referring to the change of topic :) clearly that had been building up on a hidden layer under the current conversation

    Aphrodite Macbain: he he
Bruce Mowbray listens for hidden topics.
    Bleu Oleander: back
    Aphrodite Macbain: wb
    Bruce Mowbray: wb, Bleu!
    Bleu Oleander: ty :)
Aphrodite Macbain: when did you start in PAB Bleu? 2009?
    Aphrodite Macbain: Wol? 2008?
    Wol Euler: yep
Bleu Oleander: hmmm started in Kira first
Bleu Oleander: that was 4 years ago
Aphrodite Macbain: and then you met Pema
    Bleu Oleander: met Pema first
    Aphrodite Macbain: ah
Bleu Oleander: then came into sl and kira
    Bleu Oleander: then PaB
Aphrodite Macbain: there was no PAB when you met Pema?
    Bleu Oleander: yes there was
Bleu Oleander: but I didn't get to PaB right away
Bleu Oleander: participated in Kira for a while first
    Aphrodite Macbain: at MICA?
    Bleu Oleander: Kira
Aphrodite Macbain: MICA was part of Kira wasn't it?
Bleu Oleander: we did salons there like we do in rl
    Bleu Oleander: yes
Aphrodite Macbain: oh didn’t know that
Aphrodite Macbain: Wol - did you start in 2009?
Bleu Oleander: for about a year
    Wol Euler: 2008
    Aphrodite Macbain: ah
Aphrodite Macbain: layers of layers: Kira/PAB/Mica/
    Bleu Oleander: 2009 for me
Bruce Mowbray: March 9, 2010 for moi.
Aphrodite Macbain: when did the art exhibits start?
Korel Laloix: Trying to think when I first started here.
    Aphrodite Macbain: 2010?
Korel Laloix: Will have to check the logs.
Bleu Oleander: about 3 yrs ago?
Wol Euler: no, I'm sorry, you are right, 2009
Aphrodite Macbain: yes. Where did you meet first Korel, here?
    Wol Euler: hello eos
Aphrodite Macbain: Eos- another old timer!
    Bruce Mowbray: Hello, Eos.
    Aphrodite Macbain: Hello Eos
Bleu Oleander: no ... May of 2010
    Eos Amaterasu: Hi beings
    Bleu Oleander: hiya Eos

    Layers of History

Aphrodite Macbain: we are plumbing the layers of PAB's history
Aphrodite Macbain: not visible but memorable for some
Bleu Oleander: visible on the wiki :)

Aphrodite Macbain: true Bleu - the records are
Aphrodite Macbain: Bertram's meditation happens in 7 minutes

    Wol Euler: ty aph
Wol Euler: is that perhaps typical of hidden layers, that their visibility is a matter of where you stand?
Wol Euler: clearly visible to some
Aphrodite Macbain: I like that Wol -
Eos Amaterasu: layers lived and layers re-lived may be different
Aphrodite Macbain: It depends on one's perspective
Bleu Oleander: also a matter of how good your senses are
Aphrodite Macbain: and how sensible you are
Bruce Mowbray: Is "history" synonymous with "original documents," or are there always "hidden layers" to it?
    Bleu Oleander: history ... tricky
Bruce Mowbray: Layers perhaps more vital to the "reality" of the events...?
Aphrodite Macbain: well there is oral history too
Eos Amaterasu: our story of viewing back
    Aphrodite Macbain: history rewritten
    Aphrodite Macbain: re-remembered, retold
Eos Amaterasu: like that every time you exercise a memory you change it
Bruce Mowbray ponders history as narrative. . . Probably depends a lot on who's telling the stories which stories actually get told.
    Eos Amaterasu: re-story
    Eos Amaterasu: mystory, herstory, history
Aphrodite Macbain: usually powerful men have told our history powerful white European men
Eos Amaterasu: they drop the extra s
Bruce Mowbray: Seems like the "winners" get first grabs at telling it, though.
Eos Amaterasu: many of them heavily powdered
    Aphrodite Macbain: yes
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
Bruce Mowbray: Layers and layers of powder.

Aphrodite Macbain: thinks about skiing in powder snow
Aphrodite Macbain: is the world divided into winners and losers?
Bruce Mowbray: afk to stir crock pot again.
Korel Laloix: Some people really want it to be that way.
Wol Euler: I'm not sure what "divided into" means. Say perhaps that there are winners and losers, who seldom overlap
Eos Amaterasu gets crystal blue and white image
Wol Euler: and a fairly large middle ground
Aphrodite Macbain: of sometimes winners sometimes losers
Wol Euler: or neither and neither
Eos Amaterasu: the people who tell the widespread stories rule
Bruce Mowbray: I tell my own stories.
Aphrodite Macbain: :-) there is a play being performed on this subject here in Vancouver, called winners and losers
Wol Euler: somebody earning 85k has clearly not won the income game but they are far from having lost it
Bleu Oleander: we turn our own stories into winners :)
Eos Amaterasu: that's why Hitler elevated Goebbels to Minister Plenipotentiary for Propaganda and Total War
    Aphrodite Macbain: why?
    Eos Amaterasu: stories win wars
    Eos Amaterasu: or start them
Aphrodite Macbain: plenipotentiary - lovely word
    Aphrodite Macbain: propaganda..
    --BELL--
Wol Euler: time for Bertram :)
    Aphrodite Macbain: yes
    Wol Euler: goodbye, dear pabonauts
    Bleu Oleander: bye Wol, Aph
Bruce Mowbray: Is Bertram having his meditation tonight?
Aphrodite Macbain: bye everyone. See you later
Bleu Oleander: bye all ... take care
    Bleu Oleander: feel better Aph
Aphrodite Macbain: I'm off to explore more hidden layers
    Korel Laloix: ciao
Bruce Mowbray: Bye for now, everyone!
    Bleu Oleander: ciao
Korel Laloix: Everyone off to the meditation?
Eos Amaterasu: ciao bellissimi...... they fell into the gap
Korel Laloix: Off to church I think...
    Korel Laloix: Take care.
