    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Stevenaia :))
    stevenaia Michinaga: waves, ELiza
Eliza Madrigal: Nice to see you
stevenaia Michinaga: thanks you too, all quiet here tonight
stevenaia Michinaga: I was to tired for Tai Chi.. thought I'd come sit here for awhile, my car slipped on the ice tonight and swiped a pole... poor car
Eliza Madrigal: thank Goodness you're safe - that's the main thing
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, was expecting to have my first encounter with an air bag, but not that serious
    Eliza Madrigal: imagine quite frightening
Eliza Madrigal: I've slipped in puddles but have no experience driving on ice
stevenaia Michinaga: no, just a sad noise

Eliza Madrigal: Well, whatever the reason, thanks for stopping by ^.^
stevenaia Michinaga: so you are a blond now, notice anything difference?
Eliza Madrigal: am a bit sleepy myself, but musing on satisfaction... wondering where to start with such a topic
Eliza Madrigal: oh hm.... well I do feel different but it may be the new skin
Eliza Madrigal: or, newly found skin rather
stevenaia Michinaga: that too, what was the occasion?
Eliza Madrigal: Over the last few weeks I've gone on a spontaneous shedding spree of sorts
Eliza Madrigal: and pared down inventory - saw you that night.... had spent 3 hrs
stevenaia Michinaga: no small task sorting through inventory
Eliza Madrigal: so I had to try various things on, and at the end I looked like this :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: nods

stevenaia Michinaga: so what is the whatever after the theme?
    Eliza Madrigal smiles.... good question
Eliza Madrigal: whatever... you would like it to be
stevenaia Michinaga: I must have missed that part
Eliza Madrigal: the topic was suggested, and then on another line was "or whatever" so we added that in

stevenaia Michinaga: so satisfaction as it relates to anything?
Eliza Madrigal: as it relates to enoughness
Eliza Madrigal: or yes... anything at all

Eliza Madrigal: when do you feel most satisfied?
stevenaia Michinaga: probably when I am engaged in what I am doing
    stevenaia Michinaga: in whatever
    stevenaia Michinaga: :)
Eliza Madrigal: absorbed? in a flow?
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, creates a neverending completeness
    Eliza Madrigal: nice phrasing

    --BELL--

stevenaia Michinaga: when you have what you need and need what you have, reminds me of my cat
stevenaia Michinaga: they don;t need to be pet, however, they demand it
Eliza Madrigal: mine too.. hah... he closes the laptop often
Eliza Madrigal: and he's taken to licking my arm, and then rubbing his head on it to clean himself
stevenaia Michinaga: mine always sits between me and my laptop
stevenaia Michinaga: or taking up floor space below my feet while I do Tai Chii

Eliza Madrigal: a true peer ^.^
Eliza Madrigal: getting in the flow with you
stevenaia Michinaga: or me to him
    stevenaia Michinaga: purring now

Eliza Madrigal: do you ever put yourself in a state of satisfaction intentionally?
Eliza Madrigal: Wol! What are you doing up? :))
Eliza Madrigal: Nice for you to join us anyway!
stevenaia Michinaga: no, usually I notice more when I am not there
    stevenaia Michinaga: Hi Wol
Eliza Madrigal: we can all be sleepy together
    Wol Euler smiles.

Wol Euler: I#ve taken a baldrian pill, waiting now for it to take effect (and for the milk for hot chocolate to cook)
Eliza Madrigal: :) we'll try not to be too interesting
    Wol Euler: heheheh
    Wol Euler: thank you
    stevenaia Michinaga: baldrian pill?
Wol Euler: the sandal-wearing hippie version of a sleeping pill
Wol Euler: not a knockout-pill, it just encourages you to feel tired
    Wol Euler: herbal stuff
    Eliza Madrigal: a suggestion pill
    Wol Euler: right :)
Eliza Madrigal: I'd just asked Stevie whether she ever intentionally gets herself into a state of satisfaction or flow
    Wol Euler: hmmmmm
    Wol Euler listens.
stevenaia Michinaga: is more my normal state
stevenaia Michinaga: perhaps it;s simple oblivion
    stevenaia Michinaga: very satifying there
Eliza Madrigal: :) intentionally selected obliviousness is quite a skill
stevenaia Michinaga: but I suspect of you accept every twist and turn in the road, the trip is quite satifying

Eliza Madrigal: what about for work, if you feel creativity isn't flowing or the dots aren't connecting well?
stevenaia Michinaga: oh yes, then I am oblivious to every thing else
stevenaia Michinaga: focus and flow work well together
    Wol Euler nods.
stevenaia Michinaga: thinks of the twist in the road tonight that put the pole in my way and the ice inder my tires
    stevenaia Michinaga: a gentle bump

    Wol Euler: really? or example
    Wol Euler: ?
    stevenaia Michinaga: really
Wol Euler: wow, I hope you are safe
stevenaia Michinaga: ruffed up the side of my car abit, was going slow
Eliza Madrigal: things in perspective may encourage sense of satisfaction perhaps
    stevenaia Michinaga: continued driving hom
    Wol Euler nods.
Wol Euler: good, glad you are okay. Cars can be fixed :)
    Eliza Madrigal: exactly
stevenaia Michinaga: perhaps I needed a new bumper anyway
    Wol Euler: heheheheh yes
stevenaia Michinaga: the metal parts are another story
Eliza Madrigal: the bumper did its job well

    --BELL--

stevenaia Michinaga: yes, so will the duct tape in the morning
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: Wol, do you have rituals to get into an engaged state?
    Wol Euler: hmmmmmmm
Wol Euler: not really, no, I find it just happens pretty much automatically
Eliza Madrigal: due to environment? pavlovian?
    stevenaia Michinaga: nods
Wol Euler: due to natural interest in what I'm doing
Wol Euler: assuming that what I am doing is something that interests me
Wol Euler: I've never tried to force it to happen, and I suspect that this might not work
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, some things each of us is destined to do

Eliza Madrigal: Hello Visitor 1, welcome to PlayasBeing
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Visitor 2, welcome
Wol Euler: I get absorbed easily in almost anything I do, this is either fortunate or a mild disability :)
    Eliza Madrigal smiles
Eliza Madrigal: likely both - sides of coin and all that
Wol Euler: it probably helps that I seem to be missing the gland for feeling bored
Eliza Madrigal: Please feel welcome to join us Visitors, if you like
Eliza Madrigal: I get restless.. not sure if it is the same as bored
stevenaia Michinaga: I enjoyed the week discussing boredom
    Wol Euler: no, quite different

Wol Euler: restless is active, bored is passive (to me)
Eliza Madrigal: there is a similar discomfort
Wol Euler: bored says "oh god there's nothing to do", restless says "there is something else I really need to do"
Eliza Madrigal: It often feels like I need to distribute something but don't know where or how
    Eliza Madrigal: ah, snap
Wol Euler: yes, right, well expressed
Eliza Madrigal: or... like in the bookstore recently
    Wol Euler listens.
Eliza Madrigal: I felt "Ack... I want to read people not anymore books!"

    Eliza Madrigal: (that passed)
    Eliza Madrigal: lol
    Wol Euler: heheheheh
stevenaia Michinaga: must have been fun to watch
Wol Euler: reading people is a lovely idea
Wol Euler: (is that what we are doing?)
Eliza Madrigal: it was maddening that people were looking around at each other, maybe half smiling, but terrified to start conversations except with the person behind the counter, who has to talk to them (me)
Eliza Madrigal: I think it is, Wol - nice :))
Wol Euler: oh, you work in a bookstore?
Eliza Madrigal: well I go to work (write), in a bookstore... but I meant that I was not talking to anyone either, except the guy who was helping me find the perfect concoction of green tea
Wol Euler: oh, I see :)

Wol Euler: yes, funny how that happens. People want to talk but feel that it is socially inappropriate, or just don't know how to begin
Wol Euler: there are situations where that permission is granted automatically, like in trains
Eliza Madrigal nods - the cafes are packed because we are obviously social beings
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, and who to choose to talk too
    Wol Euler nods.
Eliza Madrigal: Oh? maybe I need to be in trains more
    Wol Euler smiles.
Wol Euler: I think it's because passengers are captive, but short-term, and not there because of each other
stevenaia Michinaga: like sitting in an airplane for hours next to someone who has the seat nest to you and not having a conversation
Eliza Madrigal: this is the funniest thing... we do that and then no one really talks til the last 10-15 minutes
    Wol Euler nods
stevenaia Michinaga: I think trains are more social
Eliza Madrigal: I think it is because just in case the chemistry isn't great no one wants to have to talk to someone for hours
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Wol Euler: more than airplanes, yes. the captivity factor is far higher in an airplane
    Eliza Madrigal: "captivity factor" haha
stevenaia Michinaga: right, no other place to go
Wol Euler: there is *always* an empty seat in a train, and you can pretend that it's your stop and go to a different carriage
Wol Euler: if you need to get away
Eliza Madrigal: I'm actually taking the younger two on a train trip in March
    Wol Euler smiles.
Eliza Madrigal: I'm hoping it will trap us together to talk
    Wol Euler: great! I approve
    stevenaia Michinaga: :)

    --BELL--

Eliza Madrigal: well, partly... really I just think it will be fun
Eliza Madrigal: ¿Hay algo que pueda ayudar?
Wol Euler: where are you going?
Eliza Madrigal: to NY for a few days
    Wol Euler: very nice!
Eliza Madrigal: "Oldest" has been several times with school events but the younger two haven't been involved in as many clubs n such
stevenaia Michinaga: nice, plenty to do there
    stevenaia Michinaga: :)

[throughout the conversation there had been visitors just out of reach of the listener, having a conversation and not responding to inquiries]

Eliza Madrigal: (I'm going to mute the visitors just since it is quite distracting and they don't seem to want to engage)
    Wol Euler: (already did :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: nods
Eliza Madrigal: took me a while :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: where is that?
Wol Euler: it's called "block" now
Eliza Madrigal: in firestorm it is actually "block"
    Eliza Madrigal: in the pie
Wol Euler: one of the many significant improvements the Lab has made lately
Wol Euler: I gave them quite a few minutes, in case they might notice us
    Wol Euler: only just muted
stevenaia Michinaga: you are within ear range
Eliza Madrigal: I do hope they find what they are looking for

Wol Euler: I discovered something lovely in Firestorm recently: you can turn off facelights
    Wol Euler: !!!!
Eliza Madrigal: really! you must be in heaven, hah
Wol Euler: my greatest peeve and annoyance
    Wol Euler: heheheheh yes
Eliza Madrigal: I know.. as someone who received a picture from you showing what I looked like to your viewer, ha
    stevenaia Michinaga: facelights?
Eliza Madrigal: a long time ago :)
Wol Euler: light sources attached to people's faces
Wol Euler: in 2007 they were a really good idea, but not needed these days
Eliza Madrigal: for a long time I couldn't see my face well without one
Wol Euler: but people still have them, and shops still include them with some outfits
Wol Euler: many people genuinely don't know they are wearing them, unless you've enabled local light sources you wouldn't know that you are blinding everyone else
Eliza Madrigal nods - graphics vary so widely, too
    Wol Euler nods.
stevenaia Michinaga: is that a preference?>
Wol Euler: turning off attached light sources? it's in the Develop menu, ctrl-alt-q
Wol Euler: careful not to leave off the alt :)

    [stevenaia poofs]

Eliza Madrigal: maybe he clicked the wrong thing :)
Wol Euler: the shortcut key is unfortunately chosen.
Wol Euler: wb stevie, sorrry about that
    Eliza Madrigal: you did that?
    stevenaia Michinaga: lol
    Wol Euler: no
stevenaia Michinaga: very close to command + Q
Eliza Madrigal realizes Wol has more superpowers than the rest of us
Wol Euler: ctrl-alt-D to get the Advanced menu, then at the bottom of that is Develop menu
    Eliza Madrigal: oh :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: lol
Wol Euler: in Develop / Rendering / Render attached lights

Eliza Madrigal: How about a three or five minute pause once you settle that, before bed?
    Wol Euler smiles.
Wol Euler: my hot chocolate is half-consumed, the pill is not yet working.
Eliza Madrigal: (or before you two enter 99 days entry then bed) :)
    Wol Euler: heheheheh
Eliza Madrigal is such a nag :P
    Wol Euler: yes mommy :)
    Eliza Madrigal: haha
    stevenaia Michinaga: hehe
Wol Euler: thank you for your kind concern and watchful eye
    Wol Euler: and gentle encouragements
Eliza Madrigal: I would appreciate the pause together, very much, if you both can linger that long
stevenaia Michinaga: will try tomorrow moring, evenings are dificult, I am finding
Wol Euler: yes, I would love that too
    stevenaia Michinaga: ...
Eliza Madrigal smiles... okay will ring visibly and then again in 5 minutes
    Wol Euler smiles.

Eliza Madrigal: actually... will wait for first bell then ring visibly after 5
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Wol Euler: better :)

    Eliza Madrigal: (((thank you)))))
    --BELL--
    Eliza Madrigal: ((((ding))))
    Wol Euler: _/!\_

Eliza Madrigal: or maybe it should be ))))))ding((((((((
    Wol Euler: outwards, yes :)
Wol Euler: thank you, eliza, that was a nice idea
    stevenaia Michinaga: :)
    Eliza Madrigal: *thank you*
    stevenaia Michinaga: smiles, night all
Eliza Madrigal: very nice, so glad
    Wol Euler: goodnight! sweet dreams
    Eliza Madrigal: Night (yawning now)
    Wol Euler smiles.
Eliza Madrigal: sweet dreams too :)
    Eliza Madrigal: (hopefully ;-)
    Wol Euler: thak you :)
    Wol Euler: +n
