That evening, Threedee was the guardian. He sent me (Pema) the chatlog, which I put up. I provided the title.

    Adelene Dawner: hi :)
    Thorberg Nordlicht: Hello Adelene
    Threedee Shepherd: Hi Ade, thor
    Thorberg Nordlicht: Hello Threedee
    Adelene Dawner: Hi again, Three
    Thorberg Nordlicht: Hello Neela
Neela Blaisdale: Hello Adelene, Thor and nce to meet you Threedee
    Neela Blaisdale: *i
Thorberg Nordlicht: Threedee, are you prepared to take over as host tonight (a week early) as we discussed?
    Threedee Shepherd: Hello Neela
    Threedee Shepherd: yes, Thor
Thorberg Nordlicht: Got your chatlog running?
Threedee Shepherd: yes, just checked it
Thorberg Nordlicht: OK, let's wait a few minutes, and I'll make a brief announcement, and turn it over to you to start the discussion.
    Threedee Shepherd: OK.
    Sturge Thorne: hello
    Neela Blaisdale: Great av Three
Threedee Shepherd: Neela, I don't recall that we have met before.
    Sturge Thorne: i am new
    Adelene Dawner: hello, Sturge
    Thorberg Nordlicht: Hello Sturge; welcome
    Sturge Thorne: thank you
Threedee Shepherd: Welcome Sturge, and join us
    Sturge Thorne: where am i?
    Neela Blaisdale: Hello Sturge
Threedee Shepherd: You are at the 7 PM discussion meeting of the group PlayAsBeing
Threedee Shepherd: Ade, do you have the URL, or Thor?
Sturge Thorne: ok I think I will walk around some more..bye
Neela Blaisdale: Yes Three, I have been away for several weeks
    Adelene Dawner: http://playasbeing.wik.is/
Thorberg Nordlicht: I'd like to make a quick announcement. Starting next week, Threedee will be officially taking over as Guardian-host for this Monday night, 7 PM, PasB discussion. My real life schedule will change as of Sept. 1, so I can no longer commit to serving as host after this week. I'd like to thank Threedee for volunteering to take over. And finally, since we're both here tonight, Threedee has agreed to start a week early and serve as host tonight also. So, with no further delay, here's Threedee, your new host. Take it away, Threedee!
    Adelene Dawner: ... :P
    Threedee Shepherd: gee
Thorberg Nordlicht: didn't mean to put you on the spot, threedee
Threedee Shepherd: Neela, have you experience the 9-sec practice in the past, or recently?
Neela Blaisdale: Sorry having some lag
    Threedee Shepherd: np
Neela Blaisdale: Since I first joined about 3 months ago I think
JM Rexen shouts: Nice to meet you.
Threedee Shepherd: Neela, looks like lag is delaying your message.
    Threedee Shepherd: Hello Corvu
    Threedee Shepherd: Hi again Neela
    Neela Blaisdale: Hello Corvu
    Thorberg Nordlicht: Hello
    Neela Blaisdale: Back again
    Threedee Shepherd: Hi steve
    stevenaia Michinaga: hello
Corvuscorva Nightfire: Hello, Threedee, Thorberg, Neela, Steve, Adelene
    Neela Blaisdale: Hello Steven
    stevenaia Michinaga: hello
Threedee Shepherd: Neela, you seemed to be saying something when lag 'struck'?
Neela Blaisdale: Before I crashed I was saying that finding PaB and the Zen Retreat have been very significant for me
Threedee Shepherd: Would you like to say how?
Neela Blaisdale: Is anyone else having trouble?
Threedee Shepherd: Things seem ok at my end
Thorberg Nordlicht: So far, so good, here.
stevenaia Michinaga: sorry, not rezzed yet
Threedee Shepherd: I suspect SL is slower than usual tonight
stevenaia Michinaga: I've been having lag issues earlier
Neela Blaisdale: Significant in helping me focus on inner thoughts and experience and also helping to clarify ways to change my approach to things
    Threedee Shepherd: Was that unexpected?
Neela Blaisdale: By that I mean both the 9 sec and meditation show me a way to have some perspective and to pause in the moment.
Neela Blaisdale: In other words both teach me mindfulness. Unexpected in that when I started here I had no expectations, wasn't sure what to expect.
Threedee Shepherd: Neither was I :)
    Neela Blaisdale: :)
Threedee Shepherd: I have noticed, too, how daily doing clouds perspective
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: please say more?
Threedee Shepherd: It is easy to get lost in the doing and lose the perspective of why I am "there" in the first place.
    Corvuscorva Nightfire considers this.
Corvuscorva Nightfire: I am confused...I thought partly the idea is to get lost?
Neela Blaisdale: Yes, today was my first day back at work and I noticed how hard it was to try to stay in the moment. Much easier when on vacation. Of course the point is to make it a natural and continuous part of you
Threedee Shepherd: perhaps we have a different sense of using the word lost Corvu.
Corvuscorva Nightfire nods. I suspect so?
Neela Blaisdale: How would you descibe lost Corvu?
Threedee Shepherd: Corvu, to observe and be in the Now, dropping judgement differs for me from the idea of being lost and ungrounded
Corvuscorva Nightfire nods. "Ok, I think I understand, a little.
Neela Blaisdale: Very well put Three
Threedee Shepherd: please, let's all focus on "lost" for a moment and provide perspectives
Adelene Dawner: Is it even *possible* to 'get lost' from Being?
Corvuscorva Nightfire: I have only been practicing for two days...I have no perspective at all.
Neela Blaisdale: Maybe not lost from Being but lost in the sense of being unaware
Threedee Shepherd: ahh, Corvu, the first days are the hardest (except for the days about 3-weeks later, of course.)
    Corvuscorva Nightfire snickers.
stevenaia Michinaga: there is no difference beween lost and any other point of view, another side of the same coin
Threedee Shepherd: Corvu, would you like to ask all of us questions about the practice to help get oriented?
Adelene Dawner sticks her toungue out at Corvus. "Just because you don't think your perspective is *relevant*, doesn't mean you don't *have* one."
Corvuscorva Nightfire sticks her tongue out at Adelene...but acknowledges the point.
    Adelene Dawner: ^.^
Corvuscorva Nightfire: I am so very lost..that I don't know what I would ask...I am trying to understand from listening and reading.
Threedee Shepherd: Corvu, to me there is a difference between the "letting go" and a sense of "lost"
stevenaia Michinaga: Three, letting go is what turns "lost' into jsut another place to be
    Adelene Dawner grins at Steve.
    Threedee Shepherd: mmhmm
Corvuscorva Nightfire: so..put that back into the perspective of getting lost to...It is easy to get lost in the doing and lose the perspective of why I am "there" in the first place.
Corvuscorva Nightfire meant to paste back in Threedee's name there...
stevenaia Michinaga: lost be be uncomfortable or confusing but lost even in the real world is just a new or unfamiliar place, next time you are there it will not be unfamiliar
    Threedee Shepherd: np
Adelene Dawner: 'lost' can be fun, if you know how to not worry.
Threedee Shepherd: there is a saying (slightly rephrased) that "when you are up to your neck in alligators it is easy to remember that you came to drain the swamp in the first place."
Threedee Shepherd: easy to FORGET I meant
stevenaia Michinaga: one person's sence of lost is another's adventure
    Adelene Dawner: ^.^
stevenaia Michinaga: yes Adelene, it can be fun, new and exciting
Corvuscorva Nightfire smiles at Threedee's analogy.
Neela Blaisdale: But sometmes for me I can be"lost" even in a familiar place if I am responding to a situation in an automatic, non thoughtful way
Threedee Shepherd: Corvu, is there something any of us could say about our specific practice experience that would be useful to you?
Adelene Dawner: Three... is there something intrinsically better about being aware of the intention to drain the swamp, over being aware of the alligators?
Corvuscorva Nightfire: I can imagine that there is alot to be said that would be useful to me...but I can't figure out what the question might be.
    Corvuscorva Nightfire looks to Adelene..."that
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: s it!
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: the question.
Threedee Shepherd: Ade, depends on the context, of course
Adelene Dawner: 'intrinsically' implies without context... so the answer is 'no'. ^.^
Neela Blaisdale: Not to worry Corvu, it's the exploration that's exciting even when confusing
Corvuscorva Nightfire: I guess...I was kinda hoping I'd notice the alligators.
Threedee Shepherd: Corvu, what do you mean "that's it, the question"
Corvuscorva Nightfire: Adelene asked the question I most wanted the answer to, in that moment...
Adelene Dawner: I think she means I've managed to read someone's mind again. ;)
Corvuscorva Nightfire grins. You and Neela both, actually, today. I found her experience helpful to hear, too.
Threedee Shepherd: Wait, I'm the host and I'm totally "lost" now :)
    Adelene Dawner grins.
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: sorry.
    stevenaia Michinaga: hello Sky
Neela Blaisdale: Speaking only for myself, the awareness allows me to see my choices better
    Neela Blaisdale: Hi Sky
Thorberg Nordlicht: Excuse me for interrupting, but real life is calling, so I'll have to say good night, now. Thanks again for taking over, Threedee. Will you post tonight's chatlog (or send it to Pema)? Thanks.
    Neela Blaisdale: Bye Thor
Threedee Shepherd: Corvu, not to be sorry :D
    Sky Szimmer: Hi Everyone
    Threedee Shepherd: OK
Corvuscorva Nightfire: bye, Thorberg, and Hi Sky!
    Threedee Shepherd: Hi Sky
Adelene Dawner: Are you still lost, Three?
Threedee Shepherd: Corvu, please help me and restate the question/or need?
Thorberg Nordlicht: Don't forget to periodically take time out to "observe without judging." Good evening, everyone. _/!\_
Adelene Dawner: [19:28] Threedee Shepherd: there is a saying (slightly rephrased) that "when you are up to your neck in alligators it is easy to forget that you came to drain the swamp in the first place." [19:30] Threedee Shepherd: Three... is there something intrinsically better about being aware of the intention to drain the swamp, over being aware of the alligators?
    Threedee Shepherd: bye thor
Threedee Shepherd: Intrinsically no, depends whether you want alligator meat or drained land to plant on. Purely a relative choice, of course.
Threedee Shepherd: Corvu, perhaps there was something you want to "find" in the 9-seconds?
Threedee Shepherd: Sky, we are pondering over what the word "lost" might mean, in the context of the 9-sec practice.
Corvuscorva Nightfire keeps reading back, trying to understand...and find the right ideas to communicate.
Sky Szimmer: that's a great question
Corvuscorva Nightfire: I think...I am trying to "lose" some thing.
Adelene Dawner: A good start :)
Corvuscorva Nightfire: so "lost" sounds more desirable than otherwise.
Threedee Shepherd: do you have a sense of what that *thing* is?
    Threedee Shepherd: Hello Rowan
    stevenaia Michinaga: hi Rowan
    Rowan Masala: hi 3D, all
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: Hi, Rowan.
Threedee Shepherd: Rowan, we are pondering over what the word "lost" might mean, in the context of the 9-sec practice.
    Sky Szimmer: Greetings
    Neela Blaisdale: Hi Rowen
    Rowan Masala smiles
Rowan Masala: don't let me interrupt--please continue
Neela Blaisdale: Might lost be the first step of separating , to stand back and observe?
Corvuscorva Nightfire: I guess, I can think of so many things worth losing...that I am nearly speechless to answer that.
    Adelene Dawner hmms.
    Adelene Dawner: Name a few?
    Rowan Masala: inhibitions?
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: hmmm.
    Corvuscorva Nightfire laughs.
Corvuscorva Nightfire: I seem to be pretty inhibited right now.
    Rowan Masala smiles
Adelene Dawner: No worries, Corvus. We don't bite. Not even the lion.
    Corvuscorva Nightfire smiles.
    Neela Blaisdale: :)
Sky Szimmer: sorry all. but i got to run. good night.
    Neela Blaisdale: Bye Sky
Threedee Shepherd: see you again Sky
Threedee Shepherd: Corvu, the word loss often evokes the word 'sadness'. Is that relevant here?
Corvuscorva Nightfire: hmmm. No. I think I would celebrate throwing some things overboard.
    Neela Blaisdale: :)
    Threedee Shepherd: mmhmm
Rowan Masala: but we pair the word loss so narrowly in English
Corvuscorva Nightfire: I think..what I wondered about in your sentence was that you sounded like you did not want to be lost in the event?
Rowan Masala: throwing overboard has a very different sense, a much more intentional thing
    Rowan Masala: ahhh
    Corvuscorva Nightfire nods...that's true.
Threedee Shepherd: I try to not *want* in the event, just to observe, and that is HARD
Rowan Masala: but losing oneself IN something--oh yes, that's much more positive sounding
    Corvuscorva Nightfire nods.
Corvuscorva Nightfire: to both Rowan and Threedee.
Neela Blaisdale: By lost do you mean lost as in totally immersed or lost as in uncertain?
Rowan Masala: that sort of surrender is so powerful
    Rowan Masala: immersed
Adelene Dawner: Three, wherever you find yourself being, there you are... if you find yourself wanting, fine! Be there. It's all Being.
Neela Blaisdale: Yes lost as in immersed can be thrilling
Threedee Shepherd: Yes, immersed is my sense
Neela Blaisdale: So lost doesn't necessarily mean in an unpleasent way
    Rowan Masala nods
Rowan Masala: but before Corvus said the thing about being lost in something, the only positive thing I could think of to associate with loss was weight :)
    Corvuscorva Nightfire laughs.
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: preconcieved ideas?
    Rowan Masala nods
    Neela Blaisdale: :)
Threedee Shepherd: preconcieved ideas got there by serving a purpose, just tossing them is harder than perhaps more carefully reconcieving?
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: hmm.
Corvuscorva Nightfire: hmmmhmmm. I have spent alot of time on that approach...reconcieving.
Corvuscorva Nightfire: I seem to have no better knack for it than original conception.
    Neela Blaisdale: Who hasn't?
Adelene Dawner: Dropping 'em altogether works, too. The best answer to a lot of questions is "I really have no idea". ^.^
Corvuscorva Nightfire sighs happily with that answer.
Neela Blaisdale: Even to the questtions you ask yourself!
    Adelene Dawner: Yes!
Rowan Masala tries to refrain from making bad jokes about conception v. immaculate conception
    Corvuscorva Nightfire laughs...Yeah.
    Neela Blaisdale: :)
    Threedee Shepherd: ^.^
Corvuscorva Nightfire: so...Threedee...what is it that you are doing when you are not lost?
Corvuscorva Nightfire: That is the second part of my question, I think.
Threedee Shepherd: during the 9-sec practice or the rest of the time :) ?
Corvuscorva Nightfire laughs..during the 9 seconds.
Adelene Dawner: Speaking only for myself, I spend the not-lost time pondering better ways of getting lost. Lost is fun!
Adelene Dawner thinks that if you think you know what you're doing, you're probably doing it wrong. ^.^
Threedee Shepherd: During the 9-sec I TRY to observe the Being of the now, whatever that turns out to be. I "think about it" later
    Threedee Shepherd: Others?
Neela Blaisdale: For me it , at least right now, it simply feels like a very strong sense of general connection. Also with a greater sense awareness, in that I hear, feel , smell etc more sort of at the same time
Corvuscorva Nightfire nods to each. Thank you.
Neela Blaisdale: My sense, no pun intended, from listening to others here, is that what we experince in the 9 sec varies a lot from person to person. No one particular experience
Corvuscorva Nightfire: It does seem that way. I am relieved to hear it.
Threedee Shepherd: Thanks Neela, I was just about to say that :)
Neela Blaisdale: No right or wrong experience, just whatever it is
Adelene Dawner: ^.^ @ Neela. "Exactly!"
Threedee Shepherd: So folks, this seems like a nice point at which to end. Is It?
    Corvuscorva Nightfire nods.
    Rowan Masala nods
    stevenaia Michinaga: thanks
Neela Blaisdale: Yes good night everyone
Corvuscorva Nightfire: Thank you all very much.
Threedee Shepherd: Thank you all. Goodnight (or good "whatever your time zone" :)
Neela Blaisdale: Thanks for leading Three, a great debut!
    Threedee Shepherd: :)
Corvuscorva Nightfire: this was your debut? Wow.
Corvuscorva Nightfire smiles at the Lion..thank you again.
Neela Blaisdale: Lions are very stout hearted
    Threedee Shepherd: :)
Threedee Shepherd: and us old ones also try to be easygoing
Corvuscorva Nightfire: Not to mention...good guides.
Threedee Shepherd: We ALL led the way ^.^
    Neela Blaisdale: :)
    Adelene Dawner: ^.^
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: :-)
Threedee Shepherd: I will sit here even though the Official log is closed, as is my habit
Rowan Masala: goodnight, all. be well
Jax's free AO: Could not find animation 'Preen'
    Threedee Shepherd: night
Jax's free AO: Could not find animation 'Preen'.
    Adelene Dawner: 'night, Rowan
    Threedee Shepherd: night Corvu
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: Goodnight.
