stevenaia Michinaga: I was on the roof slightly distracted until I saw you
stevenaia Michinaga: have you been ehre before?
    Dream Wrexan: yes, twice before
    stevenaia Michinaga: welcome abck

    Dream Wrexan: thank you
    stevenaia Michinaga: pardon my typing
Dream Wrexan: I've enjoyed the discussions here so far
Dream Wrexan: Do you pick topics ahead of time?
stevenaia Michinaga: no, topics usually arise
stevenaia Michinaga: if yu read the logs, you know topic come from just about anywhere at anytime
Dream Wrexan: actually, I haven't read the logs
Dream Wrexan: but trusting in whatever happens is a good approach
    stevenaia Michinaga: nods
stevenaia Michinaga: do you have the wiki link?
Dream Wrexan: yes, I just haven't prioritized a visit there
Dream Wrexan: there is so much to see and do in SL
Dream Wrexan: I'm fairly new to the sim environment
Dream Wrexan: my online experience in the past was IRC
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, I spent time on irc and aol before I found SL
    stevenaia Michinaga: http://wiki.playasbeing.org/
stevenaia Michinaga: there is much information on our group in this wiki
Dream Wrexan: I was a chat host at a place called Talk City
Dream Wrexan: I will check it out
stevenaia Michinaga: I've been coming here almost from the begin of this group over 2 years now
Dream Wrexan: This is one of the best groups I've found so far
stevenaia Michinaga: what are your interests that had you discover this group?
Dream Wrexan: My interests are quite varied - but tend toward philosophy and spiritual thought
Dream Wrexan: The room I hosted previously was an Interfaith discussion group
Dream Wrexan: I believe the world is becoming smaller - and it is time for us to all get along together
    --BELL--
Dream Wrexan: finding similarities rather than differences
stevenaia Michinaga: my computer is lagging tonight
stevenaia Michinaga: has anyone explained to you about our 90 second pauses?
Dream Wrexan: yes, I'm familiar with them
Dream Wrexan: sometimes in midthought I don't realize the time has started and still "send"
stevenaia Michinaga: I veiw them are as a sort of mental rince cycle
Dream Wrexan: yes, time to think is so precious
stevenaia Michinaga: nice to see what shines through after
Dream Wrexan: the environment is so visually stimulating
stevenaia Michinaga: see what comes out in the wash
Dream Wrexan: I guess I'm in a quiet mood tonight... I really thought I'd come and listen :-)
Dream Wrexan: any soliloquys you'd care to share? :-)
stevenaia Michinaga: I do too, I could babble but that can get chaotic if try to ollow
stevenaia Michinaga: what I find so intreaging about this place... (how's that for a topic)
Dream Wrexan: I'd like to know
Dream Wrexan: Right now, what appears to be a sunset for me is mesmerizing
Dream Wrexan: or perhaps morning - hard to tell
Dream Wrexan: I used to live in Arizona - we had some amazing sunsets
stevenaia Michinaga: Play as Being.... is the increadible about of creativity that arises when talking about topics in terms of sharing knowledge, creative metaphors while trying to communicate ideas etc
Dream Wrexan: I was in an interesting discussion at Philosophy Island earlier discussing time
stevenaia Michinaga: sometime idea w/o description need to be described, this palce allows that development
Dream Wrexan: and our concept of linear time
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, that has been a topic touched on often here
Dream Wrexan: does the group engage in projects of any sort?
Dream Wrexan: or is it more free flowing?
stevenaia Michinaga: something so affecting everyone that we know so little about
stevenaia Michinaga: both, actually, there are specific themes at times, original cncepts that continue to re-appear
stevenaia Michinaga: Play as Being is about learning to understand Being from the outside in
    Bleu Oleander: hi steve, dream
Dream Wrexan: That's an interesting concept - outside in
stevenaia Michinaga: what is being, I don;t know, let's discuse it and see, let's play.... etc
Dream Wrexan: what does it mean to you?
    stevenaia Michinaga: hello Bleu
Dream Wrexan: hi, bleu - good to see you again
stevenaia Michinaga: early on there were some simple "excercises that the group did initially withing 9 second micro meditations and dicussed what was seen
stevenaia Michinaga: soemtimes very vivid images would arise with wonderful clearity
stevenaia Michinaga: let me see if I can find one, to lazy to rely on my memory :)
stevenaia Michinaga: while I'm looking, think of a topic for the next 90second bell
    Bleu Oleander: hi Paradise :)
    Dream Wrexan: hi, paradise
Paradise Tennant: hiya .. steve .. bleu .. dream :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: hi Paradise
    --BELL--
Dream Wrexan: the sunset I was viewing faded to dusk - a magical time of the day.
    Paradise Tennant: smiles :)
    Bleu Oleander: :)
stevenaia Michinaga: the time that was most profound was with another friend here Adams, who interviewed me for the "Chronicles" on the Wiki, so it was convenient to find....

stevenaia Michinaga: I will copy/paste, it was from July 2008

stevenaia Michinaga: when we were discussing Being and you told about a dream (I think) about coming out of the water and seeing clearly...do you remember that?

stevenaia Michinaga: in this moment I was underwater which represented Self to me

stevenaia Michinaga: the I emerged above the surface , springing out of the water straight upÉ which represented Being

stevenaia Michinaga: not flying, just head above water

    stevenaia Michinaga: an interested contrast

Pia Iger: then how do you feel, in each case, under and above the water?

stevenaia Michinaga: stevenaia Michinaga: fresh air, clear sight of distance

    Adams Rubble: :)

stevenaia Michinaga: under water was self reflective and somewhat contained.. defining self as somewhat introspective and contained

stevenaia Michinaga: but head above water was externally focused

    stevenaia Michinaga: refreshing

Adams Rubble: that sounds great Steve

stevenaia Michinaga: worth the wait of not doing 9 second moments for that one

    stevenaia Michinaga: :)
stevenaia Michinaga: some meditative moments more memorable than others
Dream Wrexan: yes - and they always seem to lose something in the telling
Dream Wrexan: the old adage "I guess you had to be there" rings true
stevenaia Michinaga: visual moments usually do
Dream Wrexan: I believe it's because those moments are out of linear time
Dream Wrexan: and occur more vertically, within and above
    Paradise Tennant: listens
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, what are your thoughts on time Dream?
Dream Wrexan: it follows logically that to explain the situation in linear fashion falls short
stevenaia Michinaga: you speak of linear time as if there are other flavors
Dream Wrexan: I've been a student of time all of my life
Dream Wrexan: and yes, I do believe that time is a convention of our current experience
stevenaia Michinaga: I think in high school I tried to do a report of some class on time, seemed there really wasn;t much written on it that I could find or understand, so it became a report on the developement on time measurement and calendars
Dream Wrexan: that's where I started as well :-)
Dream Wrexan: with my 2nd grade science project
    stevenaia Michinaga: yes, looking :)
Dream Wrexan: Right now I'm reading a book that addresses time from the viewpoint of A Course in Miracles
stevenaia Michinaga: it was interesting that development of time was linked the religion and the pope
Dream Wrexan: you mean like Julian and Gregorian calendars?
Bleu Oleander: you mean measuring time?
stevenaia Michinaga: or the emperors of Rome
    stevenaia Michinaga: yes
stevenaia Michinaga: yes to both of you
Dream Wrexan: but the measurement goes much earlier - tied to the cycles in nature
stevenaia Michinaga: ofcourse, stonehenge and other early observatories
Dream Wrexan: it's interesting to me that the whole world uses minutes and hours etc. - but linear measurement varies between cubits and millimeters and inches
    Dream Wrexan: etc
stevenaia Michinaga: and so many temples to deities we can only begin to speculate about
Dream Wrexan: surely there must have been other ways to divide up a day
stevenaia Michinaga: yet the years and month vary from place to place and religion to religion
Paradise Tennant: we have to measure time mechanically it seems :) where length is not so mechanical :)
Dream Wrexan: yes, paradise, perhaps you are right
Dream Wrexan: well, thank you for the discussion, Stevenaia - unfortunately it's late on the east coast and I must say goodnight
Dream Wrexan: bye, blue and paradise, too
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, 24 hours is an unusual place to begin dividing things
    Bleu Oleander: nite Dream :)
    Paradise Tennant: in anite dream
    Paradise Tennant: nite dream :)
    --BELL--
Bleu Oleander: can either of you come to Pema's new session on time .... fridays at 6am slt?
stevenaia Michinaga: that's 9:00 am here
Bleu Oleander: it's early for me, but i'm going to try to get up for it :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: checking calendar :)
stevenaia Michinaga: if my alarm works I might be able to make it
stevenaia Michinaga: is this the first one?
Bleu Oleander: it's 6am for me .... my puppy is my alarm :)
Paradise Tennant: nope will be in the park walking the dog and then off to work
Bleu Oleander: yes this friday is the first one
Paradise Tennant: lovely that we have logs :)
stevenaia Michinaga: if you had a phome that runs "Sparkle" app you could join us remotely :)
Bleu Oleander: have to look into that
stevenaia Michinaga: Calvino might disagree, Paradise
    stevenaia Michinaga: :)
    Paradise Tennant: lol
Paradise Tennant: well .. I do enjoy reading them even though I am posting challenged :)
    Bleu Oleander: me too
stevenaia Michinaga: me too, and I've been doing it for years
stevenaia Michinaga: formating is a nightmare
stevenaia Michinaga: I've obliterated a month of logs in error that Wol had to recover
    Paradise Tennant: sometimes
Bleu Oleander: I've not had a problem yet
Paradise Tennant: lol ooooo that makes me feel so much better .. :)
stevenaia Michinaga: see, I am skilled
stevenaia Michinaga: but if I see a misplaced log I can but it in its rightful place, usually
stevenaia Michinaga: and just ask if you need help
    stevenaia Michinaga: :)
Paradise Tennant: nice to have friends :)
Paradise Tennant: I got a call out of the blue tonight .from a friend I have not talked to in a long time but have been thinking about a fair bit over the last couple of days
Paradise Tennant: funny how our very thoughts can prompt things it seems
stevenaia Michinaga: before I go to the list with this, if anyone is available on wednesday, July 21, I will be on vacation that week w/ no interent at night
    Paradise Tennant: ok
    Paradise Tennant: will cover
Paradise Tennant: will put it in my book
    stevenaia Michinaga: thanks paradise :)
stevenaia Michinaga: Pila belives in that sort of thing more than most, Paradise
    Paradise Tennant: smiles
Paradise Tennant: was reading my iching book last night
stevenaia Michinaga: I picked up a little case for my iChing "tools" and my notebook so I can take them comfortably on vacation with me, loaded the pdf's from the site into my phone for reference
stevenaia Michinaga: which iChing book do you have?
    Paradise Tennant: smiles
Paradise Tennant: you are so organized
    --BELL--
Bleu Oleander: that's the opening party of that art piece we had a salon on
Bleu Oleander: it's now in a new location
stevenaia Michinaga: no, just like little "things" that can organize themselves
Paradise Tennant: thanks bleu that looks like fun
stevenaia Michinaga: will try to remember, thanks
    stevenaia Michinaga: where is it?
Bleu Oleander: the lm is in the notecard, isn't it?
Bleu Oleander: oops one minute .... let me find it
stevenaia Michinaga: in my inventory, ofcourse
    Paradise Tennant: smiles
Paradise Tennant: was looking at indi
    Bleu Oleander: my indi?
Paradise Tennant: such a profound look of intelligence there yes :)
Bleu Oleander: he's at my feet right now
    Paradise Tennant: smiles
    Bleu Oleander: hi Cal
Paradise Tennant: smiles hiya cal :) gtsy
Calvino Rabeni: Hi! Paradise, .. Bleu & Steve :)

Calvino Rabeni: I was reading that notecard - looks like fun
Calvino Rabeni: Is the landmark in it?
Paradise Tennant: smiles yes went to their last one .. really interesting
    Paradise Tennant: yes
Paradise Tennant: we were talking of time again tonight I arrived for the last bit of it :)
Calvino Rabeni: If only I could go back ... :)
    --BELL--
Calvino Rabeni: These art installations are one of my favorite things about SL
Paradise Tennant: yes you can interreact
Calvino Rabeni: How did Time come up - was this a theme session?
    Paradise Tennant: not sure
Calvino Rabeni: SL has had some legendary art sims at one time or another
    Paradise Tennant: yes
Paradise Tennant: robbie dingo has created some lovely ones
Calvino Rabeni: I suppose it would have been possible to archive them - I wonder if anyone did?
    Paradise Tennant: hmmm
Calvino Rabeni: Some of them I heard about too late, but would have liked to see, like the Tarot themed one
Paradise Tennant: hm not sure I knew about that one
Calvino Rabeni: I saw some pics on the internet - it looked like very high art quality
Calvino Rabeni: a kind of animated Tarot world you could interact with
Calvino Rabeni: maybe and "be" one of the cards
    Paradise Tennant: wow
Calvino Rabeni: like Alice in Wonderland, but better cards
    Paradise Tennant: nods
Paradise Tennant: was looking for a link to a great clip of one of the art sims
Paradise Tennant: the starry night one
Paradise Tennant: did you see it
Calvino Rabeni: SL is amusing / shocking when someone suddenly goes Away, and the avatar slumps over in a zombie like fashion...
Calvino Rabeni: No, is it still there ???
Calvino Rabeni: And, I like the spaceport one also, have you seen it?
    Paradise Tennant: hmm
Paradise Tennant: well there use to be a clip on youtube
Paradise Tennant: that pretty much captured it
    --BELL--
Calvino Rabeni: At the space park there are slow drifting orbits to take around the "universe"
Calvino Rabeni: I also like the Doll House
    Paradise Tennant: smiles
Paradise Tennant: use to like the space centre . you could walk around mars
Paradise Tennant: smiles and fall to earth from the moon
    Paradise Tennant: smiles
Calvino Rabeni: You know that one - a toybox you are inside, plus an alice and wonderland theme above ?
Calvino Rabeni: It only slowly reveals all its secrets, which makes it fun to linger in
Paradise Tennant: nope do not know that one
    Paradise Tennant: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=memW5zjGyFs
    Paradise Tennant: lol
Paradise Tennant: amazing what you find on you tube when you are looking for something comletely different
Calvino Rabeni: ummm, yessss, I have one for you ...http://www.youtube.com/user/ImprovEverywhere#p/u/1/wKB7zfopiUA
Calvino Rabeni: Do you know that group? Their vids get millions of hits
Paradise Tennant: not opening for me
    Paradise Tennant: one sec
    Paradise Tennant: lol
    Paradise Tennant: very good
Calvino Rabeni: There is another in which 200+ people suddenly "freeze" in Grand Central Station
    Paradise Tennant: lol
Calvino Rabeni: (For the Log Readers - they are basically, large-scale planned theatrical pranks)
Paradise Tennant: yes I saw one where they burst into song
    Paradise Tennant: and dance
    Paradise Tennant: lovely
Calvino Rabeni: I found them surprisingly evocative also
Paradise Tennant: so many surprised faces
Calvino Rabeni: I suppose the reason is, we all get so bored with the predictability of public life, and the lack of "teamwork"
    --BELL--
Calvino Rabeni: So to see unexpected, highly cooperative, public Art is an unusual experience
    Paradise Tennant: yes
    Paradise Tennant: it is
Paradise Tennant: smiles well cal .. I think I should trundle off to bed ..even though tomorrow is a holiday Yay !
Paradise Tennant: will dig up that link for you know Ihave it somewhere :)
    Calvino Rabeni: Nice visiting, Paradise
    Calvino Rabeni: Thanks
    Paradise Tennant: smiles waves :)
    Paradise Tennant: namaste :)
Calvino Rabeni: Sleep and dream well, bye :)
