2012.03.03 07:00 - Starting to prepare our Garden area

The Guardian for this meeting was Xirana Oximoxi, joined by Korel, Raffi, Boxy and Tess.

    Xirana Oximoxi: hi Korel! :-)
    --BELL--
    Korel Laloix: osiyo
Korel Laloix: What you up to today?
Xirana Oximoxi: how are you anoying woman?
    Korel Laloix: Dirty.
Korel Laloix: Been doing some lawn work today.
Xirana Oximoxi: I came to take the session...but the weather is stormy here :(... maybe I will have to disconnect
Korel Laloix: Ab out to start in on some carpentry.
    Korel Laloix: No worries.
Xirana Oximoxi: lawn work ...I like to do so...working outside:)
Korel Laloix: It is a bit cold for me, but Grandma is in the mood.
    Xirana Oximoxi: :)
Korel Laloix: Really starting to prepare our Garden area.
Xirana Oximoxi: yes... a garden needs a lot of time to take care
Korel Laloix: Especially when you have over and acre of it.
Xirana Oximoxi: I do it like some gimm... but it's still early and cold here... must begin ending next month
Korel Laloix: One of her sons comes and tills the place... but we have a lot to do still.
Korel Laloix: We already have about 30 trays on the pourch and a lot have sprouted.
Xirana Oximoxi: yes... always something to do...my fahter and mother do take care of it...but I must do the big work:)
Korel Laloix: The garden is Grandma's hoby maily.. so she does most of the work.
Korel Laloix: I help with what she wants though.
Korel Laloix: And I do enjoy eating most of the proceeds.
Xirana Oximoxi: what do you mean 'trays' ?
    Xirana Oximoxi: hello Raffi:)
Raffila Millgrove: hi korel and xirana.
Korel Laloix: Planting trays with 72 seedling pots.
    Korel Laloix: Heya
    Korel Laloix: Plastic with covers.
Xirana Oximoxi: ohh yes...I understand :)
Korel Laloix: So it is a big effort.
Korel Laloix: But fun when it all grows.
Xirana Oximoxi: do you like gardening Raffi? we are talking about it now
Korel Laloix: I spent a bit of time this morning pulling the vines off the fence.
Raffila Millgrove: yes. strange i was just asking my husband to get me more planting mix. as i garden in pots .. i love to garden.
Xirana Oximoxi: in Spain it's beginnin a mode to have a small garden at the balconies
Raffila Millgrove: what are you planiting korel? with the seedlings.
Korel Laloix: We normally do about an acre.
Korel Laloix: But this year, I think we are going to try a big pumpkin and watermellon patch not in a tilled area.
Xirana Oximoxi: in Germany I think it's a long time some people do it
Korel Laloix: Listening to some German music.
Raffila Millgrove: yes. i lived in Germany long ago.. and they do balcony garden. and they have wide window ledges inside. i had huge garden inside the house. with plastic planters..
    Korel Laloix: Nice.
Korel Laloix: We have a lot of plants inside as well.
Korel Laloix: And we do have a perineal spice patch as well that is very lovely.
Raffila Millgrove: i got those strips of like cloth, embedded with seeds from a US garden catalgoue.. and i lay them on the dirt in these long planters.. and omg.. the lush crazy... garden that grew.. my landlord was astounded.
Korel Laloix: Lots of humming birds and lovely scents.
Xirana Oximoxi: yes... it's nice to see the plants growing...it's like a relaxing work for some people
Raffila Millgrove: i find it so engergizing and relaxing at same time. I have butterfly and bee, humming bird. i am right at forest.. oak trees. we call it chapperal.
    Korel Laloix: Lovely.
Raffila Millgrove: not much flat land.. so that's why i do so much in pots.
Korel Laloix: We have problems with rabbits and dear so we have to fence off the garden.
Xirana Oximoxi: I muss confess I like it very much at the beginning...but after a while I get tired and all kind of plants not good to eat grow between...:)
Raffila Millgrove: in fact.. this rose expert with a website.. on roses. he asked me to write much info for him.. on roses in pots. and if you type roses in pots in your browser.. that article is stil the first to come up even tho it's six yrs old at least.
Raffila Millgrove: growing roses in pots. it's so fun to see it's still all there.
Raffila Millgrove: this is before they start to sell the bush roese for patios... made to grow in pots.
Raffila Millgrove: you must have lots of vegetables Korel? with a whole acre to fill?
Korel Laloix: Most of our indoor plants are cactus and other I think they are called suculetns.
Korel Laloix: Yes, we give a way alot.
Xirana Oximoxi: I have some very old roses here...they have a wonderful smell...much better than the new ones I've bought
Korel Laloix: Be it depends on the year.
Korel Laloix: Like tomatoes... some years we can't give them away fast enough.
Korel Laloix: Other years, varely any.
Raffila Millgrove: old roses can be so beautiful... now they work on having some that will bloom more than once a year.
Korel Laloix: Corn always does well.
Korel Laloix: Okra and devils claw always do good.
Raffila Millgrove: probaby the weather.. tomatoes need so much sun..and not too much rain.
Korel Laloix: Pumpkins and watermellon are great.
    Korel Laloix: Cucumber good.
    Korel Laloix: Onions good.
Korel Laloix: Beans always do well, but we have bug issues.
Raffila Millgrove: do you do carrots. home grown ones are so sweet compared to store bought.
    --BELL--
Xirana Oximoxi: oh... nice ..these old roses only bloom once... I have another one that is all summer blooming,..
Korel Laloix: Yes...and parsnips and horsraddish I think as well.
Korel Laloix: NOt sure all what some of the stuff she plants is.
Korel Laloix: But one thing I do love is making pasta sauce with all fresh stuff including spices from the garden.
Xirana Oximoxi: do you have a way to irrigate all what you plant...
Xirana Oximoxi: ahhh yes.... pasta made with fresh vegetables is the best
Korel Laloix: We have a creek on the land, but we also have a roof water catching tank thing.
Xirana Oximoxi: same here :)... but also water coming of inside the earth... from a hole they made to get it and it's distributed to all houses
Korel Laloix: YOu mean a well?
    Xirana Oximoxi: moment, I see
Korel Laloix: We have a well, but we dont' use it much. As we have city water as well.
    Xirana Oximoxi: yes... a well
Korel Laloix: The next couple of weekends we will get a truckload of manuer to put around the garden so it can be tilled in as well.
Korel Laloix: Not good on the nose... but nice for the garden.
    Raffila Millgrove: nice!
Korel Laloix: It works out for us and the horse owners both.
Korel Laloix: I am a member of a seed bank and I always plant some from them.
Xirana Oximoxi: ah yes:)... it's a good way to fertilise
Korel Laloix: If you are interested....
    Korel Laloix: http://www.nativeseeds.org/
Raffila Millgrove: oh terrific. seed bank.
Raffila Millgrove: those are such important way to protect heritage seeds.. in case all this monkeying about.. goes awry. to save the rich old variety.
Xirana Oximoxi: there's also an association here to try to preserve ancient types of seeds
Raffila Millgrove: it's going to matter someday.. to have them. i think.
Xirana Oximoxi: and trees and all kind of plants that are desapearing
Korel Laloix: That is part of what Native Seeds does.
Raffila Millgrove: so cool you can be a part of that, korel.

Raffila Millgrove: you plant with your mom or your grandma?
Korel Laloix: You can be a part as well... smiles
    Korel Laloix: My grandma.
Korel Laloix: WEll, actually my step grandma.
Raffila Millgrove: my mom inspired me. she was a test rose grower.. i gained my love of them from her.
Korel Laloix: But it is lovely thing we do together.
Raffila Millgrove: when she died.. i made a rose garden.. in her memory as she insist on being buried at this horrible cemetary that was too far for us to go visit her.
Xirana Oximoxi: oh yes... it's a wonderful work to share
Raffila Millgrove: i kind of pretended we had her out front in the garden ... instead of where she really was.
Korel Laloix: And keeps her active and thinking.
Raffila Millgrove: also it gave us a happy way.. to remember her.Korel Laloix: That must be anice feeling.
Raffila Millgrove: i was so glad that subsequent owners.. kept it and took care of it.
Korel Laloix: My mom and I don't get along at all... so I am happy to hear when others have that sort of relationship.
Raffila Millgrove: my mom.. she meant everything to me. all our family was gone.. just the two of us.
Korel Laloix: I think I should have said "your" sort.
Korel Laloix: Sometimes my English looses a bit.
Raffila Millgrove: well... it's luck. mostly i think. that you get born into a good situation.. where they love you unconditionally.
Xirana Oximoxi: :) I am sure my English looses far more than yours:)
    --BELL--
Korel Laloix: My problem is that I know what I want to say... and I have words in my mind in English... but my English awareness knows that there is a shade of meaning I am missing.... so it is a strange sort of frustration.
Raffila Millgrove: i had a person.. french speaking. we learn much from each other--so hard sometimes to get those fine shades.. of meaning.
Xirana Oximoxi: it's always difficult to express qhat we feel and think in our language and get exactly the same meaning in another
Raffila Millgrove: like the word "pep". this really.. was hard for her to get a grip on how to use it correctly...
Korel Laloix: I think I have had quiet a few dissagreements here becuase I missundersould shades of meaning.
Raffila Millgrove: the words.. they don't mean the same even tho the dictionsary gives the word--there are such sublties.
Korel Laloix: But it all makes sense eventually.
Raffila Millgrove: my german landlord--one time i said her youngest had a "gut hertz" which means good heart. but she said.. oh we don't know this--but she said. i think i will use it--i really like the meaning of that..
Xirana Oximoxi: it's important here to talk a lot and ask to clarify situations... in RL we have also body language that's missing here
Korel Laloix: It is a lot more straightforward in Tsalagi...
Korel Laloix: ABout 20, 000 words.
Korel Laloix: Bode'wadmimwen only about 2500.
Raffila Millgrove: i read somewhere they we get some high percentage of understanding.. from body language cues alone. my husband said that avatars here.. they use it.. he sees people standing in dfiferent ways. moving. respecting space/boundaries.
Korel Laloix: There is a certain way people move their AVs that you can read... in the folks that havae been around a bit.
Korel Laloix: New folks, not so though.
    Raffila Millgrove: yes.
Xirana Oximoxi: yes... that exist also here... and we have also emoticons...but the comunication, in my view, never get's a high level..I mean, it's more limited
Korel Laloix: And I do think Sl acts like alcohol... the anonymity gives a certain lowering of inhibitions.
Korel Laloix: And that changes the way we interact.
Raffila Millgrove: would agree on that.
Raffila Millgrove: i goto a sim where people use voice a lot.. and when you are in voice.. seems like less anonymous.
    Korel Laloix: True.

    Alfred Kelberry: hi :)
    Korel Laloix: Bozho Box
    Alfred Kelberry: ms raff :)
Raffila Millgrove: oh finaly..Boxy. i missed you!

Alfred Kelberry: aww... it's good to be missed :) thank you, raff *hugs*
Xirana Oximoxi: seems we can not comunicate the same
Raffila Millgrove: when will the ribbon come back? we miss it too!
    Xirana Oximoxi: hi boxy!!! :)
Alfred Kelberry: oh, the ribbon. i think it should be ready. let me see...
Raffila Millgrove claps her hands gleefully.
    Alfred Kelberry: :)
Xirana Oximoxi: yes... missing boxy too!! :) where have you been hiding??? :)
Korel Laloix: Voice is OK.... but for my connection speed, it is usually not very good... So if I wantt o chat... I just pck up the phone....
Raffila Millgrove: haha. korel jumps on right away!
Alfred Kelberry: ok, it works :)
    Raffila Millgrove: yeah!

Alfred Kelberry: yes, just a little cold
Raffila Millgrove: oh you're antlers. they are gone!
Raffila Millgrove thinks it's a sign to her she better get her Xmas tree down too.
Alfred Kelberry: i took them off. replaced with the pab halo :)
    Alfred Kelberry: raff, don't! :)
Raffila Millgrove: oh i don't see the halo?
Alfred Kelberry: i'm sure it looks lovely at your place
Xirana Oximoxi: korel...I just see your nice SL knees!!! how is so?
Alfred Kelberry: um, took it off as well :)
    Korel Laloix: Star gazing animation.
    Xirana Oximoxi: ahhh :)

Alfred Kelberry: it's in the form of the pab's logo, raff

    Korel Laloix: brb

Xirana Oximoxi: it's really nice:) ...the halo makes me feel the big PAB party coming :)

Alfred Kelberry: oh really? i thought it was bleu
Raffila Millgrove: sunshine vayander.. on mine.. yeah i thought it was bleu
Xirana Oximoxi: ahh yes... Sun is a great creator too
Raffila Millgrove: maybe she commision Sun to do it. lol
Alfred Kelberry: well, it resembles the sun :)
Raffila Millgrove: it's the.. PAB logo i heard.

Raffila Millgrove: oh also let me give you this LM to an astonishing beautiful new artist installation called Spirit. based loosely on Bosch.
Alfred Kelberry: ah, seen nice mesh avs?
    Alfred Kelberry: aha
Raffila Millgrove: they give you a mesh avi free there.. so if you wear it.. you will blend in with the place. also be sure to FLY up to see close.
Xirana Oximoxi: ohhh ... can I have the LM Raffi?...I like the works of Bosch :)

Raffila Millgrove: some of the girls from here. Aphro and someone else. they took a look from the LM also.. that i give them and they liked it well.
Alfred Kelberry: that reminded me. i had an idea for the art as being, where people make a drawing in rl and then upload in sl and present in the dome.
