2012.03.30 13:00 - Friday is here

The Guardian for this meeting was stevenaia Michinaga. The comments are by stevenaia Michinaga.

I grabbed the 7:00 session only to find it included the 1:00 sesson which was quite long (14 bells... 3 1/2 hours.) Boxy was at the Playgoda since the 1:00 session so the log remained active.  My apologies to the Guardian on Call for that session, but feel free to edit and retitle the session to your liking.

Eliza adding a few pictures and thanking Stevenaia for taking and posting the log, which I'll let Yaku know about. This long session also followed the 12pm Voice session in the pub.

Yakuzza Lethecus: you could have stayed a little longer
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
Bruce Mowbray: Well, I'm just learning the ropes. . .
    Bruce Mowbray: Hey, Wol!
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hey wol
    Wol Euler: surprise!
Yakuzza Lethecus: it´s actually not that different and there is often no real subject either, so i hope for one´s to emerge
Yakuzza Lethecus: actually i nearly always ask bleu the question when she´s there, and of course you´ve also been a bit on the spot today bruce
Bruce Mowbray: Are there normally that many avis attending?
Yakuzza Lethecus: no lately a bit more
    Bruce Mowbray: Hmmmm.
Yakuzza Lethecus: often we were only 2-3 and often i started alone
Bruce Mowbray: Are there other voice session in PaB besides that one?
Yakuzza Lethecus: no only the once that ,,just emerge"
    Bruce Mowbray: hmmmm.
Yakuzza Lethecus: the book reading circle of ,,TSK" was also in voice
    Bruce Mowbray ponders the possibilities....
Bruce Mowbray: poetry readings, lectures, discussions on a specified topic.....
Yakuzza Lethecus: did you ever read terry goodkind wol ?
Bruce Mowbray: No, please say more.
Wol Euler: donÄt know the name
Bruce Mowbray: Who is Terry Goodkind, Yaku?
Yakuzza Lethecus: ah, it´s a fantasy author who wrote ,,sword of truth"
Yakuzza Lethecus: when wol came in i first thought of a mord sith
    Bruce Mowbray: Hmmmm.
Yakuzza Lethecus: which is a group fighting woman in red leather dresses :P
    Wol Euler: ah :)
    Wol Euler: heheheh
    Wol Euler: as one does
    Bruce Mowbray: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sword_of_Truth

Agatha Macbeth: Think I'm too lagged for that :p
    Bruce Mowbray: [back]
    Bruce Mowbray: Hey, aggers!
    Agatha Macbeth: Bwucie!
    Bruce Mowbray: Hey, Qt!
    Qt Core: :) Bruce
    Bruce Mowbray: I hope you've all ridden Storm's train. . .
Bruce Mowbray: a fascinating experience, actually.
    Wol Euler: mmhmm
Bruce Mowbray: I love the bi-lingual translations at station stops.

    --BELL--

Agatha Macbeth: I must go and listen to these announcements in Japanese
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
    Alfred Kelberry: hi :)
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hey boxy
Bruce Mowbray: (only one is actually announced in Japanese, I think. . . - - - might be wrong about that, though)... [Kira Japan station]
    Yakuzza Lethecus: gosh, tulip please
    Bruce Mowbray: Hey, Boxy!
    Alfred Kelberry: hehe
    Agatha Macbeth: Woof woof Boxy
    Qt Core: hi Alfred
Wol Euler: that ain't boxy, what are you all talking about
    Wol Euler: hello alf
Wol Euler: nice to see you again
Alfred Kelberry: you fine group of people. good to see you.
Agatha Macbeth: It's the box-less Boxy
Wol Euler: out of the box
Alfred Kelberry: oh, woly's cuteness :) wonderfully futuristic, you and aga :)
    Wol Euler smiles.
Agatha Macbeth: Why thank you sir
    Alfred Kelberry: :)
Alfred Kelberry: aga reminds of trinity :)
Yakuzza Lethecus: thought the same :9
Agatha Macbeth: That the idea :p
    Alfred Kelberry: "dodge this"
    Agatha Macbeth grins
Alfred Kelberry: heh, really like your buns, woly :)
    Alfred Kelberry: *clicks your nose*
    Agatha Macbeth: Don't we all?
    Alfred Kelberry: i suppose so
Alfred Kelberry: sorry i missed the hour, yaku. couldn't come.
    Yakuzza Lethecus: :(
Bruce Mowbray: an excellent hour -- my first ever in voice....
Yakuzza Lethecus: well, of course its fine, next week it´s not going to happen
    Bruce Mowbray: ?
Alfred Kelberry: my greets to bruce for having his voice back. hope to hear it soon :)
Yakuzza Lethecus: at least not with me, everyone is still invited to come anyway tho :)
Bruce Mowbray: I just unplugged the mic... other wise I'd give you a quick samle.
    Bruce Mowbray: sample.
Agatha Macbeth loves a quick samle
    Agatha Macbeth: with chips
Bruce Mowbray: (I've notices thast I make far fewer typos in voice....)
    Agatha Macbeth: Hehe
    Bruce Mowbray: noticed*
Alfred Kelberry: true, yaku. you probably shouldn't announce it as canceled, but simply state that you'll be away :)
    Yakuzza Lethecus: yes :)
Alfred Kelberry: bruce, go ahead! :)
Bruce Mowbray: Oh, that reminds me: do we still have the 5 Bells chats three hoursafter each regular session . . ?
Alfred Kelberry: ah, i don't think so
    Bruce Mowbray: kk.
    Wol Euler: no idea :)
Alfred Kelberry: i think it gradually died long time ago
Agatha Macbeth: Alf you remind me of Otacon in Metal gear solid
    Bruce Mowbray: hmmm. I understand.
    Alfred Kelberry: of who?
    Agatha Macbeth: The geek :p
    Agatha Macbeth: Yay
Agatha Macbeth: He's the mad scientist type
    Alfred Kelberry: er, not familiar
    Wol Euler: that fits
    Agatha Macbeth nods
Alfred Kelberry: well, it's supposed to me my rl av. woly and yaku are to judge of the resemblance :)
    Wol Euler: pretty close :)
Agatha Macbeth: Ah, I can't comment on that!
Alfred Kelberry: except, i had different glasses in berlin
Bruce Mowbray loves the green scarf. . . . coming around for a better view.
Wol Euler: mmhmm, and your RL hair is darker, nearly black as I remember
Alfred Kelberry: i usually wear these
Agatha Macbeth: Do you wear a green scarf in RL?
    Alfred Kelberry: hehe
    Alfred Kelberry: nope :)
Agatha Macbeth: and where are the daffodils may I ask?
Alfred Kelberry: i had my invaders scarf with me, but i think i never wore it
    Wol Euler: good god, yes
    Wol Euler: what happened?
Agatha Macbeth: Being a dog has done something to you...
    Alfred Kelberry: tulips :)
    Agatha Macbeth: Yay
    Agatha Macbeth: from Amsterdam?
Alfred Kelberry: in fact, they might be
    Agatha Macbeth: Aha
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hey druth
    Bruce Mowbray: Hey, Druth!
    Wol Euler: hello drugh
    druth Vlodovic: hey
Alfred Kelberry: re: hair. it's hard to find a rl match in sl.
    Wol Euler: *druth
    Wol Euler: true
    Agatha Macbeth: LTNS Druthy
    Alfred Kelberry: druth :)
Wol Euler: male hair in SL is pretty uniformly lousy or dull
    Agatha Macbeth: Very true
    Qt Core: hi Druth
Agatha Macbeth: pretty much like male avatars in fact
    Wol Euler nods.
    Wol Euler grins.

    --BELL--

Alfred Kelberry: well, i like this hair
druth Vlodovic: generally they don't make nice stuff for males in SL or RL because they don't buy it because it doesn't exist
    Yakuzza Lethecus: onigokko
    Alfred Kelberry: wee!!!
Agatha Macbeth: There seem to be about three basic shapes and skins for guys in SL, and everybody has them
    Alfred Kelberry: wait, no sound?
    Bruce Mowbray: OMG!
    Agatha Macbeth: I have sound
Wol Euler: I had sound until I muted it
Bruce Mowbray: Is my vertigo acting up again!
    Agatha Macbeth: In stereo
Yakuzza Lethecus imagines agatrinity to excape from banana´s a boxbot is fireing in bullettime
druth Vlodovic: go to a vampire RP place if you want nice stuff for guys
    Yakuzza Lethecus: stop
Agatha Macbeth tries to imagine it too
    Agatha Macbeth: (and fails)
Alfred Kelberry: hmm, must be me then
Alfred Kelberry: i hear the birds though
Agatha Macbeth: It's you Alf ;-)
    Wol Euler: must be that
Bruce Mowbray: I hear birds and fountain. . . hard top distinguish birds from AL, though.
    Bruce Mowbray: to*
    Agatha Macbeth: Al who?
    Bruce Mowbray: RL...
    Bruce Mowbray: sry.
    Wol Euler: ah
    Agatha Macbeth grins
Wol Euler: thought perhaps you meant birds from Alabama, and wondered why they'd sound different
Bruce Mowbray: another one of those typos that doesn't seem to happen in voice.
    Alfred Kelberry: :)
Agatha Macbeth: Thought maybe Al Gore made a comeback
Wol Euler: true, bruce, but then um we don't ah type um ah the breaks that um get into speech um all the time
Bruce Mowbray: that would be an inconvenient truth for Al, I'm afraid...
    Alfred Kelberry: woly :)
    Wol Euler: true
Bruce Mowbray wonders how to type [type.. type...type...] echos.
Agatha Macbeth: 'Dead birds fall from the sky'....well, yeah
    Alfred Kelberry: #3 is scary
druth Vlodovic: makes watching them easier
Agatha Macbeth: I would be more interesting in a dead bird that stayed up there
    Wol Euler: heh
Agatha Macbeth: Easy now Bruce ;-)
Bruce Mowbray: An 8th grade student of mine once wrote a haiku about this:
Bruce Mowbray: Suppose the stars farr
Bruce Mowbray: Do you know what will happen?
Bruce Mowbray: A bird will eat them.
Bruce Mowbray: (and it sounds like the dead birds in AL died of indigestion...)
    Agatha Macbeth: Was he japanese?
Bruce Mowbray: SHE was quite American. . .
    Bruce Mowbray: fall*
Agatha Macbeth: I wondered about 'farr'
    Bruce Mowbray: (another typo, alas)
    Agatha Macbeth: Hehe
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
Agatha Macbeth: Now i see why you got voice Brucie!
    Bruce Mowbray: tee hee!
Bruce Mowbray is now wondering if Skype might also work. . .
    roguepsychonaut Resident: Hey everyone.
Wol Euler: hello michael, good to see you again
Yakuzza Lethecus: should, skype usually works even a bit better then sl voice
    Bruce Mowbray: Hey, Michael.
    Alfred Kelberry: hi, mike :)
    Agatha Macbeth: Hello Mike
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hey michael
    Qt Core: hi rogue
    roguepsychonaut Resident: What's up?
Agatha Macbeth: Well not dead birds, that's for sure
    Wol Euler: heheh
Alfred Kelberry: *looks at woly* princess wleia :)
    roguepsychonaut Resident: Dohoho.
    Wol Euler: :)

Wol Euler: man in a hurry
    Wol Euler: psyches to explore
Bruce Mowbray: so many galaxies, so little time.
    Wol Euler nods.
    Agatha Macbeth: Or psychos
Alfred Kelberry: qt, how are things with you and family?
    Qt Core: all as usual
Qt Core: just discovered stress is a wonderful dieting help ;-)
    Wol Euler chuckles.
    Agatha Macbeth: Yes, isn't it
    Alfred Kelberry: yes, it is

Yakuzza Lethecus: hope bruce didn´t get blown away by a sunstorm
Wol Euler: wow, just saw the most amazing illusion/misinterpretation
Wol Euler: the pattern on Druth's t-shirt looked like the huge head of a kid sitting on her lap
    Wol Euler: spooky
    Alfred Kelberry: heh
    druth Vlodovic: zen's easter eggs
    Alfred Kelberry: easter kids
    druth Vlodovic: hatching out :)
    Wol Euler: really

    Wol Euler: aah :)
Eliza Madrigal: feel free to join us if you like Visitor
Eliza Madrigal: we're having a relaxing Friday
Alfred Kelberry: eliza, what is it about "based"? :)
    Agatha Macbeth: What indeed?
Eliza Madrigal: context, ground... what IS the ground out of which all this arises? this image that one...
    Wol Euler nods.
Alfred Kelberry: ah, in this sense
    Agatha Macbeth: Ground zero
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi again oO0Oo
Agatha Macbeth: Hi 0, hi 0
Alfred Kelberry: in this context, all our avs are rl based, i think :)
    Zen Arado: http://shoutcast.tekstuff.net:7950/
    Eliza Madrigal: nods...
    Alfred Kelberry: oh, zen radio

Eliza Madrigal: still a pretty interesting question...
    Wol Euler: wb sam
    Eliza Madrigal: :) thanks Zen
Alfred Kelberry: eliza, i think it stems from two things: character tendency and roles
    Alfred Kelberry: zen, nice!
Eliza Madrigal: and where do those stem from?
    Zen Arado: wb Sam
Eliza Madrigal: maybe a different kind of virtual ground
Alfred Kelberry: eliza, is it the turtles question? :)
Eliza Madrigal: where do the turtles stem from? haha
    Alfred Kelberry: hehe
    Agatha Macbeth: Eggs presumably
Eliza Madrigal: before there were turtles...
Zen Arado: unless you are an outlandish furry
    Eliza Madrigal feels like avastu
    Agatha Macbeth: Avastu me haerties
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    oO0Oo Resident: *me hearties*

Alfred Kelberry: germany is notorious for this, it seems
Agatha Macbeth: 'Not available in Germany'
Zen Arado: non dual thinking...this 'me' just confrms to all it's previous experiences, genetics, interests, abilities etc
    Zen Arado: oh
Wol Euler: ah, got it now
Alfred Kelberry: people expect you to conform with your "previous record" as well
Eliza Madrigal: well what if we let them off the hook from theirs...
Alfred Kelberry: otherwise you're seen as crazy and unstable, unless this is your norm :)
    Eliza Madrigal giggles
    Agatha Macbeth: It is ;-)
    Wol Euler smiles.
Eliza Madrigal: then we get the 'crazy and unstable' role
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Bleu Oleander feels that way today :)
Alfred Kelberry: i think it's great to see an off behavior now and then

    --BELL--

Agatha Macbeth: I'll probably crash if I open it
    Eliza Madrigal: ah
    Wol Euler: probably, yes, alas
Eliza Madrigal: you can imagine the version you like best then
Zen Arado: ha ha risk it
Wol Euler: you seem to be crashy enough without that
Alfred Kelberry: aga, let's see :)
Agatha Macbeth: Or even with it
    Zen Arado: live dangerously
Alfred Kelberry: *notes he's sitting right across woly*

Wol Euler: is it speeded up?
Wol Euler: I remember it slower than this
    Alfred Kelberry: yes, a bit

    --BELL--

Eliza Madrigal: maybe it gets slower at the end
    Zen Arado: no natural speed
    Wol Euler raises an eyebrow.
Wol Euler: I beg to differ, but we won't argue matters of fact
Alfred Kelberry: no, it's definitely faster
    Zen Arado: no....natural speed
oO0Oo Resident: you may be moving toward the sound source at near the speed of light though

Wol Euler: a rose by any other name
Agatha Macbeth: still means 'got up'
    Wol Euler: eh?

Eliza Madrigal: I haven't looked in a while, or at Raffila's addition... will do soon
    Zen Arado: nite Sam
    Eliza Madrigal: Bye oO0Oo :)
Storm Nordwind: Latin is really great live
    Storm Nordwind waves
Eliza Madrigal: guess PaB would do well in Miami... as long as urban retreat ;-)
    Zen Arado: yes :)
Eliza Madrigal: stay on the beach... latin nightclubs... but, no sleep... hah
Storm Nordwind: Miami good. And not too hot.
    Zen Arado: not too hot?
Eliza Madrigal: is very hot, but breezy
Storm Nordwind: Compared to Denver in summer
Eliza Madrigal: the breeze makes a difference maybe

Zen Arado: don't go in July :)
    Zen Arado: it's muggy
Storm Nordwind: Kind of odd to see local temps at 114 degrees
    Zen Arado: is problem
Eliza Madrigal: the heat can be brutal, and humidity... in some months, but agree that places without ocean breeze can be worse in summer
Storm Nordwind worked in Kuala Lumpur and had no problem with the heat
Eliza Madrigal: thanks for the tunes Zen
    Storm Nordwind: Thank you Zen
Eliza Madrigal: looking forward to Sunday :)
    Zen Arado: just one more
    Eliza Madrigal: :))
    Storm Nordwind chuckles
Eliza Madrigal: just one... just one...
    Zen Arado: :)
    Zen Arado: for the road
    Zen Arado: :)
Storm Nordwind: Never take up the game called Civilization. "Just one more turn before bed..." "Is that the sun rising?!"
Eliza Madrigal: I've seen it and it looks too interesting to try
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Zen Arado: must remember
Eliza Madrigal: but then again, I was addicted to Harvest Moon
Eliza Madrigal: lots of turnip planting
    Eliza Madrigal: and Sim City
Storm Nordwind: The latest version (5) is too much of a war game, but earlier versions (esp 2 and 4) were less so and better
    Zen Arado: and SL :)
Eliza Madrigal: well... happiness studies say good to have at least 6 hrs of socialization
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Zen Arado: yep
Eliza Madrigal: So maybe that is a game could make "Socialization"
    Eliza Madrigal: haha
Storm Nordwind: haha! I used to play Civ2 regularly for 6 hours at a stretch. Just one more turn...
    Eliza Madrigal: goodness
Eliza Madrigal: what in particular do you like, story line?
Storm Nordwind: You build your own storyline
    Eliza Madrigal: building? strategy?
Storm Nordwind: You start 6000 years ago with a fledgling civlization. And yo have to nurture it, build, entertain, protect...
    Storm Nordwind: supply, feed...
Storm Nordwind: up to the present day
Zen Arado: wow kind of a big task
    Eliza Madrigal: wow yes
Storm Nordwind: Most addictive game I have ever played
Eliza Madrigal: when adams had the workshop on assassins creed I was surprised at the graphics... amazed really
Eliza Madrigal: can see how absorbing
Storm Nordwind: Was that trun-based too?
    Storm Nordwind: *turn
    Eliza Madrigal: turn?
Storm Nordwind: Turn-based games pause for each player (human or otherwise) to make a play, and turns go round the players. There's no real time. So you can walk away and think about it at any time
    Eliza Madrigal: oooh I see
Eliza Madrigal: not sure at all
    Zen Arado: really must go
    Zen Arado: byee
Storm Nordwind: One turn represents a century or a year or whatever, depending how far you've got
Storm Nordwind: Bye Zen and thanks!
Eliza Madrigal: Bye Zen :) Night
Eliza Madrigal: no video games for you... get some sleep
    Eliza Madrigal: haha
    Storm Nordwind chuckles
Eliza Madrigal: do the people rebel in the game if you haven't designed well?
    Storm Nordwind: Yes.
Storm Nordwind: So you have to make sure they're OK
Storm Nordwind: And that depends on the form of government you've currently chosen
Eliza Madrigal: sounds like you've learned skills that help with PaB
    Eliza Madrigal: haha
    Storm Nordwind smiles
Storm Nordwind: Democracies will get unhappy, for example, if you have too many troops away from home. (At least in the game!)
Eliza Madrigal: it takes the US too long for that
Storm Nordwind: Whereas communist governments are very effective having troops at home to suppress dissent and so MAKE people happy (or else)
    Eliza Madrigal laughs
Storm Nordwind: It's fascinating to play.
    Storm Nordwind: Don't do it!
    Storm Nordwind: No
    Storm Nordwind: Not ever
Eliza Madrigal: seems so, I will definitely stay away
    Eliza Madrigal: :))
Storm Nordwind: We'd never see you here again
Eliza Madrigal: really must be careful :)
Storm Nordwind: Except to ask questions about what to do with factories, or temples, or the problem with that damn dictator in Russia
Eliza Madrigal: hahah... you'd be getting phone calls in the middle of the night
Storm Nordwind: haha! It an interesting game that you can win in several different ways...

    --BELL--

Storm Nordwind: you can take over the world militarily, or you can become the cultural center of the world, or be the first to win the space race to a distant planet... all fascinating. And you start with spades and clubs... not the playing card kind!
    Eliza Madrigal: oooohhhh very complex
    Eliza Madrigal covers ears
    Eliza Madrigal: haha
    Storm Nordwind: very wise
Eliza Madrigal: can't believe have been online this long.... definitely a sign not to look
    Storm Nordwind: haha!
Storm Nordwind looks... more than 4 hours?
Eliza Madrigal: hmm... came on just before 4...
    Eliza Madrigal: so not quite
Eliza Madrigal: but surprisingly easy to do... especially with dancing and friday being
Eliza Madrigal: and kids away for the day
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Storm Nordwind: It's all coming out now
    Eliza Madrigal: hahah
    Storm Nordwind: cats and mice
Eliza Madrigal: and getting concerned for boxy at this point...
Eliza Madrigal: no 'away' sign yet definitely away
Eliza Madrigal: and with strange objects impaling him
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Eliza Madrigal: aw thanks...
Storm Nordwind: It's the least i could do
Eliza Madrigal: have any reflections about 4 years of pab Storm?
Eliza Madrigal: or visions for the future?
Storm Nordwind: Visions? No. Reflections? I'm really really bad at reflecting! A known deficiency. :)
Eliza Madrigal: I have too many
Eliza Madrigal: can go in so many directions
Eliza Madrigal: but you've been here since beginning so must have sense of the whole sprout :)
Storm Nordwind: Wherever I go, I am intensely "there". So many places to go that could be unpleasant. And so unnecessary having discovered happiness always in "now"
Eliza Madrigal: makes sense I suppose... fun to throw out wild ideas too maybe
Storm Nordwind: Wild ideas are my trademark. But I let them go when I throw them. Flying through the air with them (as many people seem to do) is uncomfortable!
    Eliza Madrigal: hahah
Storm Nordwind: Especially when they land!
    Eliza Madrigal: love that analogy
    Eliza Madrigal: Storm's javelin
Eliza Madrigal: have to agree with that light :::looks at many bumps scrapes and bruises::::
Eliza Madrigal: some on other people!

    Eliza Madrigal laughs
    Storm Nordwind chuckles
Storm Nordwind: No. Just give up being attached to being the one that learns.
    Eliza Madrigal smiles
Eliza Madrigal: that's a nice note to sign off on
    Eliza Madrigal: thank you Storm
Storm Nordwind: Thank you dear Eliza :))
