[01:23] Wol Euler: we gather here daily to talk about meditation and matters arising, and sometimes just to chat

[01:27] Hopefia Fayray: Some argue you can separate 'the character' from the 'self' and perhaps they are more astute in this than me - but I prefer not to create even more contrast
[01:27] Wol Euler: but it is a stretch and it starts to feel uncomfortable

[01:27] Wol Euler: there comes a point when roleplay shades into "acting", I think they are separate things
[01:27] Qt Core: it is harder trying to be someone else if you haven't acting talents
[01:28] Wol Euler: roleplay is expressing a different me, acting is being somebody else
[01:28] Hopefia Fayray: I think everything affects everything - even if you think of 'separation' in effect you are creating another 'self' that affects consciousness?

[01:29] Qt Core: even here we orbit around the known ourself, our idea of ourself or our unknown ourself

[01:33] Hopefia Fayray: there are lots of questions in Buddhism that are unanswerable? no? stills the mind rather than the chatter. Not for the question to be answered it cannot. But to still the mind

[01:34] Hopefia Fayray: are you familiar?

[01:34] Wol Euler: what did it remind you of?
[01:34] Qt Core: they are like magnets, making ideas moving around them, if you let the things stuck to it, like a definitive answers movements (life) ends

[01:42] Hopefia Fayray: it's funny - I always had arts background but increasingly books appear - such as on visit to library etc that are purely scientific - to do with quantum physics and more and more links between spirituality and science or nature - such as Fibonacci patterns ( always I have known this for a while) - but seems by chance lots of this revealing itself to me.

[01:43] Hopefia Fayray: like I go to library and find myself reading about electrons
[01:43] Wol Euler: you know the expression "the teacher will appear when the pupil is ready"? I guess this is the same effect, you are ready now to see those books

[01:44] Wol Euler: oh, Alan Watts is just talking about "non-dual", this is also something htat comes up here all the time. I never knew where it was from :)

[01:47] Hopefia Fayray: with duality you always had the escape of 'blame'

[01:53] Wol Euler: finding the Tao and the Eight Noble Paths felt the same way (though not in nature), it seemed obviously true

[01:54] Wol Euler: I mean that I found them as an intellectual exercise through reading, rather than in the world at large

[01:59] Wol Euler: these days it's becoming impossible to read the papers in a single discipline

[01:59] Wol Euler: another word that we love to use :)
