01:06] Wol Euler: buongiorno, qt
[01:06] Qt Core: Hi Wol
[01:06] Wol Euler: just a sec, need coffeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
[01:06] Qt Core: ok
[01:08] Wol Euler: back :)
[01:08] Qt Core: never been a fan of dragonball Z, or its music theme, but this is acoustic coffee: http://www.wimp.com/dragontheme/
[01:08] Wol Euler: ah :) listening
[01:11] Wol Euler: nice :) thank you
[01:11] Wol Euler: impressive.
[01:11] Wol Euler: I always find myself wondering, when I see somebody doing something difficult with apparent ease, how many thousands of hours it took them to get there.
[01:12] Qt Core: well, the note at the end of the page say he started teaching himself guitar in 2011...
[01:12] Wol Euler: O.O
[01:13] Qt Core: so there must be something called natural talent too ;-)
[01:13] Wol Euler: clearly he has a talent for it, then
[01:13] Wol Euler: yes
[01:13] Wol Euler: undeniably so
[01:13] Wol Euler: but still ... I doubt that he did that multi-string plucking on his first afternoon with the guitar
[01:16] Qt Core: yes, remind me about someone asking me if i ever tried to play guitar a couple days ago, as i was driving i almost had an accident from laughing too much at the idea ;-)
[01:17] Wol Euler: hehehehe
[01:17] Wol Euler: by the way, the proper answer to that is "I don't know, I've never tried" :)
[01:17] Qt Core: while i love music i'm so bad at it i was exonerated from the practical part of the compulsive music lessons we have in middle school
[01:18] Wol Euler: sorry, that is the answer to the question "can you [do whatever]", I misread that
[01:18] Wol Euler: heh
[01:18] Qt Core: on last year we discovered i al least had some rhytm sense and played the triangle ;-)
[01:18] Wol Euler smiles.
[01:20] Qt Core: then at a "concert" we did the rhythm section accidentally doubled the pace of an already quick piece... the ones playing flutes loved that
[01:21] Qt Core: (only time i saw our teacher getting angry)
[01:21] Wol Euler laughs.
[01:22] Wol Euler: hello hopefia, have you been here before?
[01:22] Hopefia Fayray: hello, no I haven't
[01:22] Wol Euler: okay, then let me give you a notecard about us, and a little intro
[01:22] Hopefia Fayray: k
[01:22] Qt Core: then, first of all welcome, hope
[01:23] Wol Euler: this is a meeting of a discussion and medtation group called Play as Being
[01:23] Wol Euler: we gather here daily to talk about meditation and matters arising, and sometimes just to chat
[01:23] Hopefia Fayray: ok
[01:24] Wol Euler: that notecard gives the basics about what we do, but we also have a website, http://wiki.playasbeing.org/
[01:24] Wol Euler: we record these sessions and publish them on the wiki, so that absent members can see what was said.
[01:24] Hopefia Fayray: k
[01:24] Wol Euler: may we have your permission to include your SL name and your comments in the published log?
[01:24] Hopefia Fayray: yes sure
[01:24] Qt Core: and make a fool of ourselves too ;-)
[01:24] Wol Euler: thank you :)
[01:25] Wol Euler: and yes, that too :) ehehehehh
[01:25] Wol Euler: my usual alignment is "lawful good" too, I usually play healers or paladins :)
[01:26] Wol Euler: but in a different game :)
[01:26] Qt Core: i usually end up whatever chaotic, whatever depending on the mood
[01:26] Hopefia Fayray: if in roleplay character, I try to only roleplay what wouldn't cause a fracture in my normal vibe.
[01:26] Wol Euler nods.
[01:26] Wol Euler: though I have to admit that playing rogue can be a lot of fun occasionally
[01:27] Wol Euler grins.
[01:27] Qt Core: (and chaotic leaves you with more options)
[01:27] Hopefia Fayray: Some argue you can separate 'the character' from the 'self' and perhaps they are more astute in this than me - but I prefer not to create even more contrast
[01:27] Wol Euler: but it is a stretch and it starts to feel uncomfortable
[01:27] Wol Euler nods.
[01:27] Wol Euler: there comes a point when roleplay shades into "acting", I think they are separate things
[01:27] Qt Core: it is harder trying to be someone else if you haven't acting talents
[01:28] Wol Euler: roleplay is expressing a different me, acting is being somebody else
[01:28] Hopefia Fayray: I think everything affects everything - even if you think of 'separation' in effect you are creating another 'self' that affects consciousness?
[01:28] Wol Euler nods.
[01:28] Qt Core: agreed
[01:29] Hopefia Fayray: ..even if you know there is no self
[01:29] Hopefia Fayray: chuckles
[01:29] Wol Euler: heheheh
[01:29] Qt Core: even here we orbit around the known ourself, our idea of ourself or our unknown ourself
[01:29] Wol Euler: the absent centre
[01:31] Wol Euler: (we do that every quarter-hour :)
[01:31] Qt Core: have you ever seen the center of a circle (if not for the little home made by the compass ?
[01:31] Wol Euler: sometimes people talk through them
[01:31] Wol Euler listens to Qt
[01:32] Qt Core: nothing to listen to, it was a rhetorical question :-)
[01:32] Wol Euler: ah :)
[01:33] Hopefia Fayray: there are lots of questions in Buddhism that are unanswerable? no? stills the mind rather than the chatter. Not for the question to be answered it cannot. But to still the mind
[01:34] Wol Euler: indeeed
[01:34] Hopefia Fayray: the title of this group/meditation reminds me of an Alan Watts lecture
[01:34] Hopefia Fayray: are you familiar?
[01:34] Wol Euler smiles.
[01:34] Wol Euler: I know the name but haven't read much of his work
[01:34] Wol Euler: people here do refer to him often
[01:34] Wol Euler: what did it remind you of?
[01:34] Qt Core: they are like magnets, making ideas moving around them, if you let the things stuck to it, like a definitive answers movements (life) ends
[01:35] Hopefia Fayray: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BQRIIeMwfR0
[01:36] Hopefia Fayray: reminded me of a lecture 'play as self'
[01:36] Hopefia Fayray: but he talks a lot generally about 'playing the role' playing at life
[01:36] Hopefia Fayray: that we think its the 'other' when it is in fact all One -playing at being separate
[01:37] Wol Euler nods.
[01:37] Wol Euler: that is very much our spirit
[01:38] Wol Euler: (listening)
[01:40] Hopefia Fayray: ((reading elements of reality))
[01:42] Hopefia Fayray: it's funny - I always had arts background but increasingly books appear - such as on visit to library etc that are purely scientific - to do with quantum physics and more and more links between spirituality and science or nature - such as Fibonacci patterns ( always I have known this for a while) - but seems by chance lots of this revealing itself to me.
[01:42] Wol Euler nods.
[01:43] Hopefia Fayray: like I go to library and find myself reading about electrons
[01:43] Wol Euler: you know the expression "the teacher will appear when the pupil is ready"? I guess this is the same effect, you are ready now to see those books
[01:43] Hopefia Fayray: <<<<never a="" been="" br="">
[01:43] Hopefia Fayray: maybe
[01:43] Wol Euler: whatever "ready" means :)
[01:43] Hopefia Fayray: maybe its just focus too
[01:44] Hopefia Fayray: because we are creating our reality
[01:44] Hopefia Fayray: then we create the 'accessories' that endorse our developing beliefs?
[01:44] Wol Euler: mmhmm
[01:44] Hopefia Fayray: so effect is it all dark matter
[01:44] Hopefia Fayray: and then we are making the rest up?
[01:44] Wol Euler: oh, Alan Watts is just talking about "non-dual", this is also something htat comes up here all the time. I never knew where it was from :)
[01:47] Hopefia Fayray: yes Wol, I don't know of I find it reassuring or disturbing that there is no duality
[01:47] Hopefia Fayray: with duality you always had the escape of 'blame'
[01:47] Hopefia Fayray: now there is none
[01:47] Wol Euler: indeed
[01:47] Wol Euler: and what a double-edged sword that is
[01:47] Hopefia Fayray: and you think whhhhhhy? would I do that to myself lol
[01:48] Wol Euler nods.
[01:50] Hopefia Fayray: I disagree that nature/science/spirtuality are incompatible
[01:50] Hopefia Fayray: I would say each very much celebrates the other
[01:50] Hopefia Fayray: and balance the key
[01:50] Wol Euler: giving up on blame is a good thing in any case, whatever philosophy one wishes to follow (IMHO)
[01:50] Wol Euler: agreed
[01:51] Hopefia Fayray: I would agree intellectually - harder to really FEEL this which is where the key lays in some cases of 'forgiveness'
[01:51] Qt Core: not sure, but we don't know enough yet
[01:51] Hopefia Fayray: but I guess you can be willing to and even if dont know how to do you can give it up to the universe
[01:52] Hopefia Fayray: some things you just KNOW though? like innnately 'this is right, this is beauty'? - like fibonacci patterns
[01:52] Wol Euler nods.
[01:52] Hopefia Fayray: watch the patterns in nature
[01:52] Hopefia Fayray: beautiful
[01:52] Wol Euler: exactly
[01:53] Wol Euler: finding the Tao and the Eight Noble Paths felt the same way (though not in nature), it seemed obviously true
[01:53] Hopefia Fayray: why not the Tao in nature?
[01:54] Wol Euler: I mean that I found them as an intellectual exercise through reading, rather than in the world at large
[01:54] Wol Euler: they do exist in nature as well
[01:54] Hopefia Fayray: nods
[01:55] Wol Euler: I circled around this for thirty years before finally landing here :)
[01:55] Hopefia Fayray: it seems to me baffling that some cannot see the beauty and intended pattern in it all - but just different percpetions maybe
[01:55] Hopefia Fayray: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P0tLbl5LrJ8
[01:55] Hopefia Fayray: I didnt mean you lol))
[01:56] Hopefia Fayray: in past days - artists and scientist were one?
[01:56] Wol Euler: understood :)
[01:56] Hopefia Fayray: Im not sure why disciplines have become seemingly seprated in the modern world now?
[01:57] Qt Core: too much informations to held
[01:57] Hopefia Fayray: Da Vinci? Great mathematician/great artist
[01:57] Hopefia Fayray: beauty in both
[01:57] Hopefia Fayray: beauty was/is the key?
[01:57] Wol Euler nods to qt
[01:57] Wol Euler: plus our love of quantifiability
[01:57] Hopefia Fayray: information held back or too much to hold at once Qt?
[01:58] Wol Euler: plus our rush to "get on" -- to what?
[01:58] Hopefia Fayray: nods
[01:58] Qt Core: to much to hold
[01:58] Hopefia Fayray: rushing - modern symptom
[01:58] Hopefia Fayray: I say this sometimes to people bleeping me off in traffic lol]
[01:58] Qt Core: but then you miss link between two things if you don't or can't know both
[01:58] Hopefia Fayray: "what are you rushing to?" " we're all gonna die anyway"
[01:58] Hopefia Fayray: chuckles
[01:58] Wol Euler: it was entirely possible five hundred years ago for one person to be at the peak of ALL scientific development, because there wasn't much of it to master
[01:59] Wol Euler: these days it's becoming impossible to read the papers in a single discipline
[01:59] Hopefia Fayray: maybe hold could be replace by 'appreciate'?
[01:59] Wol Euler: indeed
[01:59] Wol Euler: another word that we love to use :)
[01:59] Hopefia Fayray: humans love to possess
[01:59] Hopefia Fayray: why not let it go
[01:59] Wol Euler nods.
[01:59] Hopefia Fayray: then you just appreciate the beauty of it
[02:00] Hopefia Fayray: without the need or impulse to contain it?
[02:01] Wol Euler nods.
[02:01] Qt Core: you can't only appreciate a tool if you need to do something with it, you have to hold it
[02:02] Qt Core: too
[02:02] Hopefia Fayray: the sun is a tool then?
[02:02] Hopefia Fayray: because I appreciate that but it does its job quite well without me!
[02:02] Qt Core: not everything is a tool
[02:02] Hopefia Fayray: nods
[02:03] Hopefia Fayray: humans made time into a tool
[02:03] Hopefia Fayray: chuckles
[02:03] Qt Core: i need to go hold some cooking tools that now lay just appreciated in my kitchen ;-)
[02:03] Wol Euler: heheheheh
[02:03] Wol Euler: take care, qt, enjoy the day
[02:03] Qt Core: bye all, have fun
[02:03] Hopefia Fayray: lol I need to go drive the tool that is my car and get my shopping
[02:03] Hopefia Fayray: thanks guys x
[02:03] Wol Euler: nice to meet you , hope</never>
