This morning, Riddle was GOC and the comments are mine.

[thank you Gaya for the capture and posting of the original chat after a computer crash took my edits and raw logs files away]

This morning Fael and Gaya were already there. Maxine joins right after me.

    Riddle Sideways: good morning all
    Fael Illyar: Hi Riddle :)
    Gaya Ethaniel: _/!\_
    Fael Illyar: Hi Maxine :)
    Gaya Ethaniel: _/!\_
    Maxine Walden: hi, Fael, Gaya
    Maxine Walden: hi Riddle
Gaya Ethaniel nudges Riddle to sit by her

Riddle Sideways: I might poof unexpectedly, am having network problems.
    Gaya Ethaniel: k

As it turned out my network stayed up until after the session.  Then several things crashed.

Fael Illyar: Poofing is a rule of nature in SL :)
    Gaya Ethaniel smiles
Maxine Walden: well, me too, sitting closer even tho it means in the air

I wanted to get into subject matter, but seating / sitting was a problem.

Riddle Sideways: I have noticed RL "poofs" too
Fael Illyar: RL poofs? ok, that takes more effort :)
Riddle Sideways: please remind me how to kneel?
    Gaya Ethaniel smiles
Gaya Ethaniel: 'Touch' I think Riddle
Fael Illyar: apparently these seats don't have kneeling
    Riddle Sideways: oh well...
    Riddle Sideways: hi Bella
Gaya Ethaniel: If you click touch while sitting Riddle, you can sit cross legged

Bella had troubles entering and staying a couple times.

    Bella Utu: hello
    Gaya Ethaniel: _/!\_
    Maxine Walden: hello, Bella
    Riddle Sideways: oh, TY
    Gaya Ethaniel: yw!
    Riddle Sideways: anyway,
Riddle Sideways: poof usually meant disappear like in the star trek transporter
Riddle Sideways: but, I have been noticing mental poofs
    Maxine Walden: mental poofs?
Riddle Sideways: I would be in contact with conversations / people
    Riddle Sideways: and then poof
Riddle Sideways: I go somewhere / sometime else
    Gaya Ethaniel listens
    Maxine Walden: also listening
    Riddle Sideways: happens at parties
    Gaya Ethaniel nods
Riddle Sideways: I am in a group of people
Riddle Sideways: then poof I am gone
Riddle Sideways: I might as well go get food
Maxine Walden: deliberately gone or surprisingly?
    Maxine Walden: deliberately
    Riddle Sideways: not sure
Gaya Ethaniel finds 'chit-chats' hard to focus
Riddle Sideways: yes, that is it
Riddle Sideways: if talk turns to chit then I "space-out"
Fael Illyar never quite found chit-chat worth doing... especially with unknown people... well, except lately.
Riddle Sideways: which is now like poof

I really appreciate all you PaB chatters.  I don't really have to spell everything I mean out.  You just get it.  In SL if a place is boring I poof somewhere else.  In RL boring situations I poof mentally to something else.

Maxine Walden: maybe chit chat is already a kind of spacing out
Maxine Walden: not really focussed on anything, keeping a kind of distance
Fael Illyar tends to be silent if others in the group chit-chat.
Maxine Walden: I also find chit chat distancing, not much really being said
Riddle Sideways: then started noticing others drift off for probably same reason
    Maxine Walden: maybe so
Riddle Sideways: if they are not part of deep conversation
Gaya Ethaniel: Often it's useful to start a conversation but if it goes on for a while, I run out of things to say (chit-chat topics list)
Riddle Sideways: then they start looking for more food or drink
Gaya Ethaniel nods and laughs at 'more food or drink'. Been there...
Maxine Walden: chit chat is not very nourishing

Yes, to the meat of the matter.

Maxine Walden: whereas deep conversation, at least for me, is food and drink of a sort in itself
Riddle Sideways: when you know a group or meeting or party
Riddle Sideways: will only last an hour
Riddle Sideways: you need to go where the depth is
    Maxine Walden: like these sessions?
    Riddle Sideways: yes
Riddle Sideways: like the guardian meeting I missed
    Riddle Sideways: :(
Riddle Sideways is reading it now
Gaya Ethaniel is surprised to hear that Riddle can last an hour of chit-chat
Fael Illyar: Yes, deep conversation is food of sorts :)
    Gaya Ethaniel nods
Riddle Sideways: oh, no did not mean that I could last
    Gaya Ethaniel: oh?

A long silence...  I force the subject back to something.

Riddle Sideways: so what were your takes on what guardians should do
Riddle Sideways: especially during silent times
Fael Illyar: in my experience, trying to force conversation started doesn't work too well. That is, unless something pops up naturally.
Maxine Walden: probably depends on the guardian, some may feel silent times are part of creative time, others may feel differently
Gaya Ethaniel: Silence doesn't bother me... at times it's nice to sit and ponder
Fael Illyar: silence is fun too, in a way :)
Maxine Walden: sometimes I also find if I can sense what may be behind the silence I may try to comment on it
Maxine Walden: but of course may not be on the mark. Think for me to strain at doing anything is not good for the conversation
Fael Illyar: Well, at least when it's not what I'm saying that's making everyone silent ... well, that's kind of mixed :)
Gaya Ethaniel: I'd be uncomfortable to 'force' a conversation
Riddle Sideways: yes, there is that deep silence while all contemplate your words of wisdom
Riddle Sideways: and there is the light silence of how do I go get more food

Bella poofs in and out again.

    Fael Illyar: Hi Bella
    Gaya Ethaniel: _/!\_
    Riddle Sideways: Hi Bella
Bella Utu: damnn,i am stuck my apologies
    Gaya Ethaniel smiles
Maxine Walden: that may be another kind of poof
Fael Illyar: Yes, kind of :)
Maxine Walden: maybe bearing silence lightly or observing it as in a 9 sec practice may be interesting to consider
    Gaya Ethaniel nods
    Riddle Sideways nods
Fael Illyar: sometimes you just get in the mood for being silent and sitting.
    Maxine Walden: right
    Gaya Ethaniel nods
Riddle Sideways: if, as guardian, I thought that all were being contemplative
Riddle Sideways: that would be good
    Riddle Sideways: however
Riddle Sideways: sometimes I think that you are checking your email
    Riddle Sideways: :)
    Fael Illyar: Hi Pema :)
Maxine Walden: ah, yes that is a topic that came up the other day

There is a lot to talk about silence.  Not enough talk about silence.  Nor should there be.
Did you ever get trapped by somebody that wanted to talk to you all about their silence sessions?

    Riddle Sideways: Hi Pema
    Gaya Ethaniel: _/!\_
    Maxine Walden: hi, Pema
    Pema Pera: hi everybody!
Pema Pera: don't let me interrupt!
Riddle Sideways: we were observing silence for you
Riddle Sideways: or did we poof
    Pema Pera: :-)
Fael Illyar: Ah, now that we've got a suitable interruption, what do you think of my new look? (skin+shape)
Maxine Walden: we're considering silence from different vantage points as guardians and participants
Gaya Ethaniel feels everyone should feel free to do whatever they need to do during PaB whether it's keeping silence, listening or shifting focus to RL at times.
    Maxine Walden: nice look, Fael
    Riddle Sideways: very nice Fael
Maxine Walden: how does not your new appearance feel to you?

Interesting question, Maxine.  We know it is a typo, but a most interesting question in it's own right.

    Gaya Ethaniel smiles
Pema Pera: yes, I'd say so too!
Maxine Walden: sorry how does your new appearance feel to you?
Fael Illyar: When I got it to this form, I finally realized I've been closing in on how one of my childhood friends looks like. :)
Fael Illyar: well, mother's cousin. but just a bit older
    Maxine Walden: interesting
Pema Pera: the new look feels softer, somehow

Adams enters.  He also has a new look and has not read the previous remarks.

    Fael Illyar: Hi Adams :)
    Riddle Sideways: Hi Adams
    Maxine Walden: here is Adams
    Gaya Ethaniel: _/!\_
    Pema Pera: hello again Adams!
    Adams Dubrovna: Hello Everyone :)
Riddle Sideways: interesting... did you mean to go for that look/person
Adams Dubrovna: Ah, you talking to me?
Fael Illyar: I realized it looks like her yesterday but it's been close for a long time.
Riddle Sideways: sorry, I meant Fael
    Adams Dubrovna: Ah
Fael Illyar: Adams, try turning sit override off :)
Adams Dubrovna: I am trying :)
Maxine Walden: a couple of new appearances, Fael and Adams
Fael Illyar: not new really ... well, ok, it is :P
Fael Illyar: the sound of thinking :)

    Couple other notes.
1.I had not noticed and was missing Faenik.  I never does fit into the conversation for me to ask.  I keep staring at Fael's shoulder.  There is a black mass there, but not sure if it has eyes.  Even in SL I can not stare at a women without being uncomfortable about her catching me staring :)
    2. both Fael and Gaya have fish swimming around them.  They were sitting next to each other and ...

Maxine Walden: and looking at the marine life so nearby
Riddle Sideways: I've noticed many people have several avs for different occasions
Riddle Sideways: yes, the jelly is great
Gaya Ethaniel smiles 'I've changed skin too'
Maxine Walden: ah, Gaya, sorry I had not noticed
Riddle Sideways: does the one character poof when another av is put on?
Gaya Ethaniel: It's a very small change so not surprised Maxine <smile>
Adams Dubrovna: I am still learning Riddle
Maxine Walden: ah, still might like to have had it seen
Riddle Sideways: I am way behind... I still can't change my face
Riddle Sideways: not very good at two-faced ness
Fael Illyar: That's just moving a few sliders around :)
Riddle Sideways: a few sliders... and we are different people?
    Gaya Ethaniel smiles
Maxine Walden: if appearances make us different people
Fael Illyar: whether it changes you or not is entirely dependent on you :)
Gaya Ethaniel: Since coming to SL, I've been able to see beyond ppl's appearances in SL and RL
    Riddle Sideways: yes.
Adams Dubrovna: Not different people, do they change the way we look at things?
Maxine Walden: what is your experience there, Adams?
Adams Dubrovna: My working hypothesis is that it doesn’t
Gaya Ethaniel: Adams, I don't follow that question. Could you rephrase please?
    Riddle Sideways: possibly both
Adams Dubrovna: Gaya, I was answering Maxine :)
    Gaya Ethaniel: ah ok

Virtual Worlds being an extension of the Role Playing games and worlds.

Fael Illyar: SL emphasizes the possible ways the way you look can mislead ... but also how it can be quite truthful.
Adams Dubrovna: I think that it does not make a difference in the PaB group
Riddle Sideways: not in the usual sense
Riddle Sideways: but sometimes we might contemplate why a neon green seahorse was chosen
    Fael Illyar falls down laughing.
    Adams Dubrovna: :)
    Gaya Ethaniel smiles
Riddle Sideways: PaB members often watch what each of us is playing...
Adams Dubrovna: Yes, I guises our choices do affect the group
Riddle Sideways: but not in the usual RL ways
    Adams Dubrovna hopes not
Riddle Sideways: we have built a different social [word]
    Adams Dubrovna: world?
Fael Illyar: One thing different tricks you can have for your AV allow is topics for conversation that doesn't quite classify as chit-chat :)
Riddle Sideways is not sure of word of put there

Norm is a good word to insert.  I was thinking of so many words that could have fit.

Adams Dubrovna: Of course PaB takes place in SL with different norms
Adams Dubrovna: A bit like walking down the street in NYC. :)
Fael Illyar: each place in SL has it's own norms :)
Gaya Ethaniel: London is much like that Adams
Adams Dubrovna: Yes, I imagine it would be Gaya :)
Gaya Ethaniel nods 'one turns a corner of streets and it's totally different...'
Riddle Sideways: and one poofs out of one chit-chat into some other deep conversation
    Gaya Ethaniel nods
Riddle Sideways: whether waiting for a bus or watching the neighbors weeds grow
Maxine Walden: (I'll need to leave in about 5 min or so, just mentioning it beforehand)
    Gaya Ethaniel thanks Maxine
Riddle Sideways: I too can't stay 6 hours today :)
    Adams Dubrovna: :)
Adams Dubrovna: Riddle, could you elaborate?
Adams Dubrovna: on the bus and weeds
Riddle Sideways: hmmm, was thinking it didn't have to be big city
    Adams Dubrovna: ah
Riddle Sideways: turn a corner into different neighborhood
Riddle Sideways: this tube in front of me
Riddle Sideways: keeps changing my thoughts
Riddle Sideways: a 15 min. gong goes off
    Riddle Sideways: I go off
Riddle Sideways: poof and I write something
Fael Illyar: Oh no, I'm not staying 6 hours anymore :P
    You: 'off' Riddle?
    Adams Dubrovna: like a bomb
Riddle Sideways: hmmm. Off-track, off-current subject
    Gaya Ethaniel laughs
Gaya Ethaniel: But you do come back Riddle yes?
Fael Illyar: Staying 6 hours was mostly to have Pema go "o.O" :P
    Pema Pera: hehe
    Pema Pera: it worked
    Gaya Ethaniel smiles
Adams Dubrovna thought Riddle was getting on to subject
Pema Pera: and then I stayed up two and a bit hours late at night to read it all
    Adams Dubrovna: :)
Pema Pera: since it was actually quite interesting
    Riddle Sideways: oh yes...
Pema Pera: talking about that, I went to ten sessions in a row last week
Gaya Ethaniel: Think it's healthy what you do Riddle...
    Fael Illyar: That's a few :)
Pema Pera: the wonders of jet lag
Maxine Walden: wow! 10 in a row
Pema Pera: napping twice a day in between sessions :)
Riddle Sideways: ah, not napping 4 times :)
Pema Pera: but actually it is not much, given that in April, when we did not have midnight sessions, I was the guardian on call for all the sessions -- almost 100 in a row :)
Pema Pera: good old days -- I wonder how I did it :>)
    Gaya Ethaniel looks shocked... 100
Riddle Sideways: we stood in awe
Pema Pera: it didn't know better in those days
    Riddle Sideways: lol
Pema Pera: but was sure relieved with the arising of the guardians!
Pema Pera: seriously, I'm so grateful to you all
Riddle Sideways: your need drew us
Pema Pera: to make this work
    Pema Pera: :-)
Gaya Ethaniel: And thank you too Pema
     Gaya Ethaniel smiles
    Pema Pera: yw Gaya!
Maxine Walden: yes, sorry I have to go at this point, difficult to leave mid-conversation. Bye all
    Gaya Ethaniel: _/!\_
    Adams Dubrovna: bye Maxine
    Pema Pera: bye Maxine!
Pema Pera: I really enjoy your comments on the blog, Riddle
Pema Pera: they are some of the funniest in the whole blog!
    Pema Pera: you and Cal
Riddle Sideways: oh I sometimes get carried away
    Pema Pera: and many others
    Gaya Ethaniel smiles
Pema Pera: but Cal and you have this type of dry humor
Fael Illyar: Yes, Riddle and Cal do make funny comments :)
    Pema Pera: self-depricating
Fael Illyar: I was kind of disappointed to have Cal remove hers from that one log though.
Riddle Sideways: better to pick on yourself then have others do it
Pema Pera: like a good novel, where you really get a feel for the speaker's state of mind
Gaya Ethaniel: Very English that in fact...
    Pema Pera: :)
    Pema Pera: YES Fael
    Pema Pera: ahaha, idea!!
Pema Pera: Do we have a title for this session?
    Fael Illyar: nope
Pema Pera: can you guess ?
    Adams Dubrovna: Cal ake comments
    Adams Dubrovna: make
Pema Pera: "We want Cal's comments back" -- yes!
    Fael Illyar: :P
    Gaya Ethaniel smiles
    Adams Dubrovna: :)
Gaya Ethaniel: Which log was it Fael?
Pema Pera: A Call for Cal Comments
    Gaya Ethaniel smiles
Fael Illyar: moment, I'll see if I can find it fast
Pema Pera: Calling Cal for Comments
    Gaya Ethaniel: ty
Riddle Sideways: yet, there is much to be said for not coloring the chat sessions
Riddle Sideways: I often feel I have taken something away
Adams Dubrovna: There always is the danger of misinterpreting something someone said
    Pema Pera: http://playasbeing.wordpress.com/200...ough-about-me/
    Gaya Ethaniel: ty
Fael Illyar: ah, yes, that one
Pema Pera: I don't think we have to worry about that, Adams
Pema Pera: anything we say here can be seen that way too
Riddle Sideways: Pema, you are getting really fast at finding those
Pema Pera: and then we can't say anything anymore
Fael Illyar: We always misinterpret :)
    Pema Pera: keywords search, Riddle
Pema Pera: I remembered Tahuti was in there
Adams Dubrovna: Sometimes we can note we ourselves misinterpreted in a session
Gaya Ethaniel: I see comments as what they are... subjective notes from the GoC. And sometimes they make me to re-read the log as well with certain comments on the log in mind, which can be useful
    Pema Pera: yes, Adams :)
Pema Pera: we can consider it a perk of the goc
Fael Illyar realizes she hasn't seen Tahuti around lately.
Pema Pera: wanna make comments yourself? Become a goc!
    Adams Dubrovna: :)
    Riddle Sideways: :)
Pema Pera: alphabetically goc comes just before god
Gaya Ethaniel: ah... read this one yes
    Pema Pera: close
    Gaya Ethaniel smiles
    Fael Illyar: :P
    Pema Pera: a wrathful and jealous goc . . . .
Gaya Ethaniel also hasn't bumped into Cal lately either... shame
    Gaya Ethaniel laughs
    Adams Dubrovna: goc the creator
    Pema Pera: goc the destroyer
    Riddle Sideways: goc the overseer
    Gaya Ethaniel laughs
    Pema Pera: oh my goc!
Gaya Ethaniel laughs out real loud
Fael Illyar: goc the ... well anything you want.
    Pema Pera: for goc's sake
Adams Dubrovna: goc surrounded by angels and archangels
Gaya Ethaniel: Goodness me... so funny
    Pema Pera: goccamped
    Riddle Sideways: careful
    Pema Pera: hehe
    Adams Dubrovna: Hello Gilles
Gaya Ethaniel thanks all for the laughs
    Pema Pera: Hi Gilles
    Gaya Ethaniel: _/!\_
    Fael Illyar: Hi Gilles
Gilles Kuhn: hello ladies and gentlemen
    Riddle Sideways: Hi Gilles
Pema Pera realizing it is past midnight
    Gilles Kuhn: ao on
Fael Illyar: Ah, see you later Pema :)
Pema Pera: Gilles, you tend to come here just when it's time for me to go!
    Gaya Ethaniel: _/!\_
Adams Dubrovna: by Pema. Thanks :)
Pema Pera: and I do want to continue our conversation
Gilles Kuhn: alas pema next time i will try to be here sooner
Pema Pera: we start normally at 1 am 7 am 1 pm 7 pm SLT
Riddle Sideways reallizing I have a conference call soon
Adams Dubrovna noticing that Gilles is not a bear
Pema Pera: tomorrow I'll be here at 1 am SLT, let's see, in Holland that is 10 am
Gilles Kuhn: ok but i have unpredictable schedule these days
Pema Pera: see you all soon again!
    Pema Pera: np, Gilles
    Pema Pera: sooner or later!
Fael Illyar waves goodbye to Pema.
    Gilles Kuhn: yes sure
    Gilles Kuhn: sleep well pema
    Gaya Ethaniel smiles at Pema
    Gilles Kuhn: goodbye
[Riddle Sideways: I go to 5 days in the woods
    Adams Dubrovna: Great Riddle
    Gaya Ethaniel: Woods?
    Riddle Sideways: no internet
    Adams Dubrovna: :)
    Gaya Ethaniel smiles
Riddle Sideways: up in the redwoods of California
Adams Dubrovna: Ah, they are beautiful
Gaya Ethaniel: Where you have those needles with red barks?
Riddle Sideways: with 3000 of my closest music making friends
Gilles Kuhn: mmmh nice i lived in a wood before but in europe
    Gaya Ethaniel: Sounds lovely Riddle
Riddle Sideways: been going to this music festival since my 21 year old was 2
Riddle Sideways: mid-day I float on a nice like with a beer
Riddle Sideways: and play music until dawn
    Adams Dubrovna: lake?
    Gaya Ethaniel smiles
Riddle Sideways: just outside Yosesmite park
    Riddle Sideways: sp?
    Riddle Sideways: Yosmite
Riddle Sideways: anyway... I need to go
Gaya Ethaniel silently shift focus to read Gilles profile 'interesting'
    Adams Dubrovna: Yosemite
    Riddle Sideways: could somebody
    Gaya Ethaniel: _/!\_
Riddle Sideways: get this chat back on track :)
    Gaya Ethaniel smiles
    Gilles Kuhn: which track?
Riddle Sideways: and paste the log onto mine?
Riddle Sideways: right, there was no track
Adams Dubrovna: Some things may be best ended
    Riddle Sideways: was it poof
Fael Illyar: Well, I was thinking of going to a hair fair event so I'll excuse myself now :)
    Gaya Ethaniel: _/!\_
Adams Dubrovna: bye Fael. Good to see you ::)
    Riddle Sideways: "hair Fair"?
    Gaya Ethaniel: Have fun Fael
Fael Illyar: Yes, lots of hair there :)
Gilles Kuhn: good luck fael these are fair lag feast usually
Fael Illyar: yes, I'll switch to less laggy outfit first :)
Adams Dubrovna: and FRiddle, I hope you enjoy your 5 days :)
    Adams Dubrovna: Riddle

Fael Illyar: Yes, have fun Riddle :)
Gilles Kuhn: yes have fun riddle
    Gilles Kuhn: lol
Riddle Sideways: every time I leave here for a few
Gaya Ethaniel remembers the film 'Butterfly's Tongue after watching the video clip from Gilles' profile
    Riddle Sideways: everything changes
    Gaya Ethaniel: Have fun Riddle
    Adams Dubrovna: :)
Adams Dubrovna: We'll try to behave this time Riddle :)
    Riddle Sideways: TY, bye
Adams Dubrovna: Tome for me to go too. Good to see you all :)
    Gaya Ethaniel: _/!\_
    Fael Illyar: Bye Adams
Gilles Kuhn: ah yes the video Gaya almost forget i have put it in my profile
    Gaya Ethaniel: Wondering why Gilles...interesting
    Gilles Kuhn: why its obvious
Fael Illyar: ah, yes, this one works better.
    Gaya Ethaniel smiles
    Gaya Ethaniel: Obvious?
Gilles Kuhn: i have the highest sympathy for the Spanish anarchist
Gaya Ethaniel: Care to say more?
    Gilles Kuhn: yes no problem
    Gaya Ethaniel: Thanks
Gilles Kuhn: have you specific question ?
Gaya Ethaniel: You mean those in Pan's Labyrinth yes?
Gilles Kuhn: well those are fictional and not necessarily anarchist they are republican marquis after the fascist victory
Gilles Kuhn: yes very good movie
Gaya Ethaniel: I don't know too much about Spanish Modern History... to ask specific question. Bits and pieces, films and about Hemingway and so on... Just wondering why you have 'highest' sympathy
Gilles Kuhn: if you want to see a movie about anarchist militia during the civil war look at ken loach "land and freedom"
    Gaya Ethaniel nods
Gaya Ethaniel: ah ok. Will do
Fael Illyar: Ok, see you later :)
    Gilles Kuhn: ah personally
    Gaya Ethaniel: bfn
    Gilles Kuhn: ok
    Gaya Ethaniel: yes
    Gilles Kuhn: bye fael
Gaya and Gilles stayed behind and talked a little more about Spanish anarchists and so forth.
