That morning, I walked from my little hut in Rieul to the tea house, and on my way I passed the new place that Dakini had built. I saw Maxine sitting there, but given that we hadn’t yet officially announced our upcoming move, it seemed better to go back to the tea house.

    Pema Pera: Hi Maxine
Pema Pera: welcome to the new area
Maxine Walden: yes, very very nice!
Pema Pera: but we probably should go back to the old place
Pema Pera: until we have clearly indicated that we have to go here
Pema Pera: otherwise people may be waiting for us there
Maxine Walden: ok, saw the messages and wondered whether here or there

We crossed by foot the eighty or so meters that separated us from the tea house. There we were greeted by Fael, Stargate and Adams.

    Fael Illyar: Hi Pema
Stargate Tone: as …well; never searched anybody, but ‘just found
    Pema Pera: Hi there!
    Fael Illyar: Hi Maxine
Stargate Tone: and was to find
Pema Pera: I picked up Maxine from the new place
    Stargate Tone: Hellp Pema
    Adams Rubble: Hi Pema, Maxine
Pema Pera: she was way ahead of us :)
    Pema Pera: HI *
    Adams Rubble: :)
    Pema Pera: hi Fael
    Maxine Walden: hi, all
    Pema Pera: Hi Adams!
    Stargate Tone: Hello Maxine
Fael Illyar: Yes, better be careful with people going to the new place now :)
Fael Illyar: Trevor would’ve been waiting there yesterday if I hadn’t been there to tell him otherwise :)

We talked about our new meeting place.

    Stargate Tone: new place ?
Pema Pera: Yes, as soon as Moon has his signs up, we’ll have to switch
    Stargate Tone: oh
    Stargate Tone: ok
Fael Illyar: Yes, new place with more room
    Stargate Tone: **
Maxine Walden: it is absolutely beautiful, the new place
    Adams Rubble: and lattes
Maxine Walden: or espresso, i understand
Maxine Walden: interesting, having been in the more open space of the new meeting place, now feeling the smaller sense of the teahouse, changing standards of measure…
    Pema Pera: :)
Maxine Walden: but there is such a fondness for this teahouse, that will linger, I think
Pema Pera: yes, and we can keep meeting here outside the PaB times
Adams Rubble: I found the variety with outside very pleasing
Fael Illyar: It’d also be possible to make scripted objects that sort of combine the two spaces.
Fael Illyar: I mean chat relays
Maxine Walden: Fael, I don’t quite know what scripted objects are
Fael Illyar: Well, for example this teapot is scripted object. Although all the script does is make it move
Fael Illyar: Faenik is also a scripted object, he can talk
Maxine Walden: I see, yes, think I know now what you mean…ah Faenik, yes
    Faenik can talk.

    said Faenik :-)

Adams Rubble: Scripts are the magic that make SL seem real :)
    Maxine Walden: ah…
    Faenik loves wells!
Adams Rubble: and Fael is a magician :)
    Maxine Walden: oh?
Fael Illyar: So what I’m proposing is two linked scripted objects, one here and one in the new place. Both listen to what is said in the other place and relay it to the other and then repeat it
Adams Rubble: That would be a great help if people were in the wrong place
    Faenik: could be
Pema Pera: yes, Storm and I talked about that,
Pema Pera: I believe with some other people
Pema Pera: And forgot the details but I think the feeling was that it could easily lead to a lack of privacy
Pema Pera: if at off-hours some people stop by here
Pema Pera: and some people in the other place
Pema Pera: they might not realize that everything they say can then be heard at the other side
    Pema Pera: :)
    Faenik: why not?
Adams Rubble: could it be turned off and on for meetigns, Fael?
Pema Pera: might lead to us getting to know each other a LOT better, though :-)
Stargate Tone: Hm …well…is there anyway any privacy in SL ???
Fael Illyar: It’s easy to make it so it can be turned off.
    Pema Pera: yeah, right
Pema Pera: and all of us always remembering
Pema Pera: to switch it on and off?
Fael Illyar: could even be timed
Pema Pera: well, but PaB sessions are so different in length
Pema Pera: maybe this is something we should bring up on the pab email group
Pema Pera: to hear what everybody thinks
Adams Rubble: That’s a good point, and sometimes people stay and talk
Pema Pera: personally I think it is too complicated
Pema Pera: and can be very embarrasing or at least unpleasant

We looked at various ways to connect the different meeting places, directly or indirectly.

    Adams Rubble: I have a different idea….
Stargate Tone: well; to me it’s all the same…as I’ve wished myself so often, that people would’ve stay in IM….
Adams Rubble: Could there be some kind of box or something that would tell a meeting is in session at the other place?
Pema Pera: yes, we have thought about that
Pema Pera: but again there are pros and cons
Pema Pera: it is so much simpler to just have one place!
Maxine Walden: the notion of known privacies which creates trust, added trust
Pema Pera: the first few months here
Pema Pera: that after that at the other place
Pema Pera: you don’t have to think
Pema Pera: life is complicated enough already :)
    Adams Rubble: :)
Pema Pera: Also, for this teahouse to have a big box standing around is not so pretty
Pema Pera: After a month, it should revert to its old peaceful style
Pema Pera: But your point is well taken, Adams
Pema Pera: I think that in half a year, when we have developed a lot more forest
Pema Pera: and perhaps have 50 regular visitors instead of 25 or so
    Pema Pera: perhaps even more
Pema Pera: we probably want to have meetings in smaller groups
    Stargate Tone: hm
Pema Pera: and then a kind of box may work
Stargate Tone: U know about the lags of too many AV’s in the sim ?
Pema Pera: teleporting between the beach and the forest, various places
Stargate Tone: as that is that already 20 Av on the sim makes lag
    Pema Pera: yes, *
Adams Rubble: Is there a forest here now?
Pema Pera: a start, in the middle of Magoja
Fael Illyar: *, it depends on the AVs a lot too.
Pema Pera: rather pretty, Storm made it
Maxine Walden: beautiful forest including a gnarly old tree with a serpent-looking root
Stargate Tone: well; for example all them concerst are that not so many AV can move almost at all
Stargate Tone: and like them LInden parties are always such, that it takes ‘half an hour’ to take few steps :)***
Pema Pera: hmmm, thinking out loud now, this tea house is something we borrowed, and should go back to Dakini’s use, but the new tea room is on our PaB land, as is the Magoja pub as is the beach area near the sea
Stargate Tone: even that lag is surely known by them LIndens too
    Faenik: ah :)
    Stargate Tone: **
Pema Pera: SO perhaps having a set of teleport options between those places would already be a good idea
Pema Pera: I just don’t want to clutter this particular tea house
Pema Pera: but in the other there is more space

    Fael addressed Star’s lag concerns.

Fael Illyar: Star, usually most of that lag is caused by a small number of the AVs in there.
    Stargate Tone: oh
Stargate Tone: would U tell how that is ?
Fael Illyar: that are using graphically heavy or script heavy things
    Stargate Tone: hm
Fael Illyar: the next version of the viewer will have a tool for finding out who is graphically heavy
    Stargate Tone: ok
Maxine Walden: respecting the pristine quality of this teahouse, especially given Dakini’s generosity in letting us use it, seems very respectful; and where there is more space
Fael Illyar: I suspect a tool for finding out who is heavily scripted will come too.
Adams Rubble: Yes, of course, I did not know all the details about the different ownership
Maxine Walden: for teleports etc, that sounds quite good and creative planning
Fael Illyar: or if not, the system will limit one AVs effect so they’ll only be laggy themselves
Stargate Tone: well…and this heavily scripted can be what ?
Stargate Tone: thinking that might I be such AV….
Fael Illyar: Well, it can be almost anything. Even if the scripts do practically nothing.
    Stargate Tone: oh
Fael Illyar: Some scripters just can’t produce scripts that perform efficiently for some reason
Fael Illyar: but currently it’s not possible to find out easily how heavy scripts are
    Stargate Tone: ok
    Faenik: could be
Maxine Walden: You seem very knowledgeable about scripting and SL in general, Fael
Fael Illyar: I’ve spent a lot of time reading about things :)
    Maxine Walden: ah…
Fael Illyar: I tend to familiarize myself with new things fast.
    Faenik: why not?
Maxine Walden: I see, very nice trait; I tend to be sometimes very slow at new things…
Adams Rubble: Technology changes so quickly
    Maxine Walden: for sure
Fael Illyar: for me it tends to be that I either dive or then I don’t even touch the surface.
    Maxine Walden: ah…definitive tastes, perhaps

At this point Sky dropped by and we all spoke in unision.

    Fael Illyar: Hi Sky
    Adams Rubble: Hi Sky
    Stargate Tone: Hi Sky
    Maxine Walden: hi, Sky
Maxine Walden: nice to see you again
    Sky Szimmer: hey ya all
Adams Rubble: Unfortunately, keeping up becomes a mater of priorities
    Adams Rubble: matter
Adams Rubble: as opposed to mother
    Faenik: could be
    Maxine Walden: I see.
    Pema Pera: Hi Sky!
Pema Pera: well, shall we go to the new place?
Pema Pera: We generally guarantee presence here for only half an hour
Pema Pera: so we can all test out the tp device
Pema Pera: do you see the cup here
    Pema Pera: to my right?
Fael Illyar: ok, everyone use the teleport teacup :)
Pema Pera: If you left click on it
    Pema Pera: you’ll be there
Pema Pera: do you see which one I mean?
Fael Illyar: I think it’ll only work for one person at a time
Pema Pera: It has white letters over it
    Pema Pera: yes
Pema Pera: left clicking is enough

One by one we disappeared from the room, and finally found each other again in the new place. I was the last one to jump over, and thus dropped into the middle of the conversation there.

Adams Rubble: Nothing like that has ever happened to me before
Adams Rubble: I could feel my muscles working
    Faenik: why not?
Fael Illyar: I didn’t have time to meditate this morning so I tried to do it while walking to work :)
Adams Rubble: and the air going in and out of my lungs
    Adams Rubble: real awareness
Maxine Walden: that must have been an extraordinary experience…such awareness
    Adams Rubble: yes it was
Fael Illyar: Although, I wasn’t concentrating on my body. I started with breath but quickly widened it to … well, everything I hope.
Fael Illyar: Haven’t never quite felt like that walking on the street :)
Pema Pera: could you summarize what you discussed, before Sky and I arrived?
Pema Pera: it sounded interesting :)
Maxine Walden: we were appreciating the new space, and sort of soaking it up,
Fael Illyar: I was surprised it was so easy to get to meditative state while walking
Adams Rubble: I was just saying that while cycling to work this morning I became aware of my muscles working
Adams Rubble: and my breatbing just as if
Adams Rubble: I was doing breath meditation
    Adams Rubble: It was neat
    Pema Pera: wonderful!
Adams Rubble: Fael was recounting her experiences walking
Pema Pera: when these things spill over into everyday life, that’s a great thing to happen
Fael Illyar: I find it interesting that me and Adams both did something similar today :)
    Pema Pera: :)
    Adams Rubble: :)
    Maxine Walden: yes
    Faenik loves wells!
Fael Illyar: I found it harder to drop into meditative state when I was walking on streets that were more crowded so I only managed half the journey when I was returning
Fael Illyar: Somehow felt a lot less noisy with less people around… although, it felt like it wasn’t sound.
Adams Rubble: I wasn’t tryijng to meditate so it happened for a shorter period of time
Adams Rubble: It was the awareness that struck me
Adams Rubble: something new for me
Adams Rubble: a new kind of feeling
Adams Rubble: I don;t think I would want to do too much bicycle meditating with all the trucks around :)
Fael Illyar: Yes, I was thinking that it might be better to not do it while biking :)

    Moon arrived.

    Fael Illyar: Hi Moon
Maxine Walden: I cycle as well and can only ‘meditate’ on quiet roads
    Adams Rubble: Hi Moon
    Moon Fargis: helo everzone
    Moon Fargis: y
    Stargate Tone: Hi Moon
    Maxine Walden: hello, Moon
    Pema Pera: hi Moon!
Moon Fargis: ah my keyboard switched to us layout again …
Fael Illyar: Moon, there should be a key combination to switch those.
    Moon Fargis: no idea really:)
Fael Illyar: probably some combination of ctrl, alt and shift
Maxine Walden: I’ll have to go soon, have really enjoyed this
Sky Szimmer: there seems to be implied that there is a different state of mind, while in “meditation” v. not, but I wonder if by PaB, the lines of the two can be blurred
Maxine Walden: bye, all, see you soon
Sky Szimmer: I am not sure
    Adams Rubble: bye Maxine
Fael Illyar: I do think my normal state of mind is getting closer to meditation
Adams Rubble: My experience gave me the awareness that I get with breath meditation but
Adams Rubble: I dodn;t think it was meditation
    Moon Fargis: brb
Adams Rubble: I mispoke when I decribed it I think
    Faenik loves wells!
Adams Rubble: It came suddenly with no effort on my part
Sky Szimmer: sorry Adams, I am just catching some tailend conversation so I maynot be understanding things right
    Moon Fargis: rehi
    Pema Pera: rehi?
    Adams Rubble: rehi Moon
Sky Szimmer: are we meeting here from now on?
    Stargate Tone: rehi Moon

The English language has never been the same since Moon arrived on the scene.

Moon Fargis: pema yes hehe Re: hi :)
Pema Pera: as soon as Moon can put his signs at the tea house we can shift to here
Fael Illyar: There will be email to the group before that I think :)
Pema Pera: without signs not everybody will understand
    Moon Fargis: ahhyes the signs
Pema Pera: yes, sings + email indeed
Moon Fargis: what do you want for signs? wooden?
Pema Pera: but first the signs before the email
Pema Pera: just not too big
Sky Szimmer: big flashing neon : )

That is all Moon needed to hear . . .

    Adams Rubble: hehe
Pema Pera: it is temporary, for a month or so
    Pema Pera: lol, Sky!
Moon Fargis: ok big flashig neon wodden nit soo laege sign
    Pema Pera: right
Fael Illyar: I think Dakini would have an objection ;)
Pema Pera: with steam coming out yes?
    Pema Pera: steam punk!
    Adams Rubble: and sirens
    Moon Fargis: okidoke and stars
    Pema Pera: hahahaha
Pema Pera: I’m laughing out loud in RL
    Pema Pera: oh no
    Adams Rubble: hehe
Pema Pera: do NEVER give Moon the license to do that
    Pema Pera: Adams!
Pema Pera: You don’t know Moon well enough
    Adams Rubble: hehe
Pema Pera: he only needs the smallest hints
Pema Pera: to do something really outrageous!!!
Adams Rubble: I seen some :)
Pema Pera: all of what we have discussed here in the last minute
Pema Pera: may come to pass
Pema Pera shudders at the thought
    Sky Szimmer: I love it!
    Fael Illyar: :P
Moon Fargis: yes i am a talk killer i know :)
Faenik is a hairy black ball with eyes and ears.

Rapidly a sign appeared, first quite lovely looking, wooden, in Japanese style.

Moon Fargis: ok lets see i got a sign already
Moon Fargis: made for my garden some month
Pema Pera: you could have a talking dinosaur at the tea house, telling visitors where to go
    Adams Rubble: hehe
    Adams Rubble: or east them
    Adams Rubble: eat
Pema Pera: or a bot in the form of a dino leading people here
Pema Pera: yeah, you go into their mouth and then you get teleported
    Adams Rubble: haha
    Adams Rubble can’t stop giggling
Moon Fargis: well.. i prefer todoit to spit out atthe end of the dino with a *splaaaathh* and then the visitors get shooten to the teahouse
Pema Pera wonders what he will find at the tea house when he wakes up tomorrow . . .
    Sky Szimmer: oh my….
Pema Pera: .. and how many emails from Dakini . . . .
    Adams Rubble: haha
    Adams Rubble: poor Dakini
    Moon Fargis: MUHAHAHA
Moon Fargis: ok heres the sign.. too large?
    Pema Pera: nice!!!!!
    Pema Pera: and in style
Moon Fargis: i just have to change the text
Pema Pera: but not “Moon” enough — where is the neon??

    That was the wrong question.

Fael Illyar: oo, even has “Welcome” in Japanese :)
    Moon Fargis: better?:)
Pema Pera wishes he had held his big mouth shut
Fael Illyar: leave the sign part non-glowy so it can be read :P
    Pema Pera: haha
    Fael Illyar: full bright
    Pema Pera: hahahaha
    Moon Fargis: yashhhh
    Moon Fargis: perfect
    Pema Pera: how silly
Fael Illyar: moon? full bright for the sign part?
Fael Illyar: no, not the whole thing :)
    Moon Fargis: fullbright now:)
    Moon Fargis: okidoki
Pema Pera: how about the steam, Moon?

Jeffro walked by, and Sky had to leave.

    Pema Pera: HiJeffro!
    Pema Pera: Jeffro
    Jeffro Andel: hi
Pema Pera: saw our neon sign from afar?
    Jeffro Andel: ???
Sky Szimmer: got to run. ciao
    Pema Pera: bye Sky!
    Jeffro Andel: bye
    Moon Fargis: ciao sky
    Fael Illyar: Bye Sky :)
    Adams Rubble: bye
    Pema Pera: oh oh oh
Moon Fargis: ah one sec my cat wants something
Fael Illyar: a bit less glow I think :)

After the initial blaze that left the sign unreadable, Moon somehow managed to temper the middle part so that most of the words were just barely readible in the middle of the glow . . . .

Jeffro Andel: anyone know where i can get a job?
Pema Pera: what kind of job?
    Jeffro Andel: any
    Jeffro Andel: one for $$$
Pema Pera: I’m sorry, but I wouldn’t know
    Jeffro Andel: just started
    Jeffro Andel: kk
Pema Pera: you were born today?
Pema Pera: and came to SL to find a job?
Stargate Tone: maybe U should go to the clubs and ask them owners
    Faenik loves wells!
Pema Pera: it is very hard to get decent money here
    Stargate Tone: more than hard
Fael Illyar: Pema, that depends on where you’re from. In some places 100L/hour is a lot.
Pema Pera: it is overhyped completely
Jeffro Andel: lol can someone show me where clubs r?
Pema Pera: but in those places you pay more than 100L/hour for internet connection . . . .
Jeffro Andel: wait anyone know where a guitar shop is?
    Pema Pera: wow, Moon!
Stargate Tone: I’ve also seen so many peole given a job, but when it’s been the time to get the salary….oh no
Pema Pera: Dakini will be soooo thrilled .. . . . (I hope)
    Moon Fargis: haha
    Jeffro Andel: lol
Moon Fargis: she will kill me
    Moon Fargis: not only once

That seemed like the most accurate thing Moon had said in quite a while.

Moon Fargis: jeffro: use the search button and seach for jobs
    Moon Fargis: jobcenter
Moon Fargis: or something like this
    Stargate Tone: and be carefull
Pema Pera: we will get many fans of burning man . . . .
Pema Pera: well, moon, I ought to go to bed, it is midnight here
Moon Fargis: oh already? wow.. well then good n8 :)
    Stargate Tone: Good Night Pema
Pema Pera: can you put a sign outside the tea house
Pema Pera: and also one inside?
Moon Fargis: yes i will try to be discrete :)
Pema Pera: ideally the sign should indicate where the tp devices are
Pema Pera: they have white letters over them
    Moon Fargis: yup
Adams Rubble: Good night Pema :)
Pema Pera: but not everybody seems to find it easy to use them.
Pema Pera: Good night Adams, *, Fael, Moon!
    Moon Fargis: ni ni pema
Pema Pera: Shall I send an email announcing that this is the new place?
    Moon Fargis: sure
    Pema Pera: okay, will do!
Pema Pera: Good thing I won’t see my email in the next six hours or so . . . . .
Pema Pera: say hello to Dakini from me :)
    Moon Fargis: hehe ok :)

And in such a way it turned out that we had said goodbye to the tea house, and had moved into the new place, quite a bit earlier than I had expected. I exited from SL, and read my email. Storm and I then quickly exchanged some messages, about the text that should appear on Moon’s signs. I decided then to get back into SL briefly to discuss what we thought with the others there who were still in-world.

    Adams Rubble: for me
    Stargate Tone: to me too
    Moon Fargis: good morning pema
    Pema Pera: Hi again!
    Pema Pera: hahaha
Moon Fargis: tssk you sleep to short:)
    Pema Pera: short sleep
    Pema Pera: yes
    Adams Rubble: hehe
Stargate Tone: only Moons text was whiteM now also Pema’s
Pema Pera: about the name of this place
Pema Pera: I started an email exchange with Storm a bit ago
Pema Pera: and just got an email back
Pema Pera: he is a native speaker after all
Pema Pera: and you are too Adams
Pema Pera: In his sign he called this “tea room”
Pema Pera: which is confusing given that we had a “tea house” before
    Moon Fargis: yes
Pema Pera: I finally suggested, after some to and fros

Just before I could announce what I had suggested and Storm had agreed upon, Adams was already ahead of me.

    Adams Rubble: Pavilion?
    Pema Pera: the word “pavilion”
    Pema Pera: !!!!!!
    Adams Rubble: :)
Pema Pera: did you just guess that?!?!?!?!
    Pema Pera: wow
Adams Rubble: No it is what it is
Pema Pera: well, pavilion it is then
    Adams Rubble: :)
    Pema Pera: hahaha
    Pema Pera: okay then
Pema Pera: Moon: pavilion on the sign please!
    Moon Fargis: Yes sir!
    Moon Fargis: :)
Pema Pera: no further discussion necessary
Pema Pera: Storm liked it too
    Pema Pera: what fun
Pema Pera: see, I wasn’t sure what the word exactly denoted in English
Pema Pera: but now I can sleep reassured
    Adams Rubble: :)
    Moon Fargis: :)
Pema Pera: enjoy your day, everybody!
    Adams Rubble: you too :)
