stevenaia Michinaga: hi Pema
Pema Pera: hi Steve!
stevenaia Michinaga: how was your weekend?
Pema Pera: fine!
Pema Pera: I guess yours is still ongoing?
stevenaia Michinaga: ending
Pema Pera: Here in Tokyo it is 11 am on Monday
Pema Pera: Hi Syl!
stevenaia Michinaga: was in the city on Saturday,
Pema Pera: “the city” = ?
Steve and Pema were already chatting in the Pavilion when winged Syl and I walked in. Then Fred arrived.
Sylectra Darwin: Hello Gentlemen.
stevenaia Michinaga: hi Syl
stevenaia Michinaga: NYC
Pema Pera: !
Pema Pera: best candidate, yes
Pema Pera: for “the city” :)
stevenaia Michinaga: nice wings, Sly
Pema Pera: nice colors, Syl!
Pia Iger: hi,
Sylectra Darwin: thankya, I have fun with them
Pema Pera: hi Pia!
stevenaia Michinaga: hi Pia
Sylectra Darwin: Hi Pia!
Sylectra Darwin: ooo, before I forget, let me make a landmark
Pema Pera: Hi Fred!
Sylectra Darwin: i love that this pavilion has a hole in the top.
Sylectra Darwin: Hello Fred!
stevenaia Michinaga: hello Fred
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: hey everyone! what’s shakin?
Pema Pera: yes, and still it has a sense of shelter, not just only open air
Pia Iger: Fred.
Sylectra Darwin: A “hole” lotta shakin goin on.
Pia Iger: heehe
Pema Pera: no earth quakes here, Fred
Pema Pera: could simulate them, I guess
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: looks like the ceiling already fell
Pema Pera: haha
Pema Pera: yes
Pema Pera: or blown out?
Sylectra Darwin: It was useful to fly through on the way in.
Naturally our tech team started talking about new wiki.
Pema Pera: Syl, thank you for finding that great new wiki
Pema Pera: yesterday in the guardian meeting
Pema Pera: we unanimously adopted it
Pema Pera: so now we can move forwards
Sylectra Darwin: Oh, I can’t take any credit, I am just looking from the perspective of the journalist with no tech skills
Sylectra Darwin: But thanks.
Sylectra Darwin: I did the best I could.
Pema Pera: well, that was great :-)
Sylectra Darwin: It really seems a great fit for us.
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: i think it’s a great fit
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: heh
Pema Pera: I’m glad it is open source and has complete backup option for us
Sylectra Darwin: I love that you can show Flickr photos because I already have PaB photos in a group pool
Pema Pera: so that we can reconstruct it even if the organization disappears
Sylectra Darwin: And now my little postcard system is going to run like a champ.
Sylectra Darwin: …well, once my friends the techies figure out how to configure that part.
Sylectra Darwin: :)
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: that flickr trick is actually possible in lots of places - i’ll bet it would even work in our existing blog
Sylectra Darwin: really?
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: yeah - that’s something that flickr makes possible.
Sylectra Darwin: Where is that info, because I have spent HOURS looking for useful cross posting info.
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: deki just makes it easy and convinient
Sylectra Darwin: I know that Snapzilla works with SL to do something similar.
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: i’ll send you details. remind me if i forget
Sylectra Darwin: OK! Exciting.
Sylectra Darwin: I love Internet toys.
Pema has a really long-term concern!
Pema Pera: One question that I occasionally wonder about is how much of current information will be available, say, 25 years from now . . . . . . unlike printed paper. Will flickr be there? Will our blogs be there? Will our wiki be there?
Sylectra Darwin: oh - I mean “professional networking and productivity tools” - hehe
Pema Pera: Hi Terri!
Sylectra Darwin: hello, Terri
Terri Holrych: hi sorry i am late
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: hello.
Pia Iger: Hi, Terri,
Terri Holrych: hi
stevenaia Michinaga: how can you answer such a question Pema?
Pema Pera: One argument for maintaining your own web site might be that you can then (try to) be sure to maintain it forever
Sylectra Darwin: Pema, I think the info will be there if we are careful to take care of it as it evolves from platform to platform.
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: 25 years…. i hope that preserving archival photos is our biggest concern
Sylectra Darwin: hahaha, funny but sad, Fred
Pema Pera: for example, our Kira web site is still up, after more than 10 years
Pema Pera: but by far most web sites of ten years ago aren’t
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: at times, i argue that we are embarking on an era I call “the end of forgetting”
Sylectra Darwin: It might be argued that this group grows every day and today’s info is not relevant to tomorrow. We must live in the moment, so to speak.
Pema Pera: Steve, you can’t answer such a question but you can think about it and do what you can to improve the odds :-)
stevenaia Michinaga: my aol infor is more than 15 years old
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: but, i also work in the libraries, and understand how absurdly fragile this stuff is
Sylectra Darwin: I still have Word docs that I created in 1991.
Sylectra Darwin: I just converted them as the platforms and formats changed.
Pema Pera: Syl, I think our blog/wiki serves two purposes, quite different from each other
Pema Pera: One is what you just said
Pema Pera: I completely agree: for the moment, or this week say
Pema Pera: but the other purpose is for the next generation :-)
Pema Pera: and anything in between
Sylectra Darwin: awww
Pema Pera: much of what we say has relevance in a timeless way
Sylectra Darwin: oh sure
Sylectra Darwin: how about I write a book?
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: so does a sand mandala….
Pema Pera: If I would have come across a blog like ours a few decades ago, it would have saved me a lot of time and exploring . . . .
Sylectra Darwin: good point
Pema Pera: a book can’t fit all that we do
Sylectra Darwin: smiles
Pema Pera: but I think that it should not be too hard to preserve what we do
Pema Pera: the open source nature of our new wiki is a crucial point
Sylectra Darwin: As long as we make it a priority to preserve that info, we will do it.
Pema Pera: so as long as we make several backups, a few times a year, we’re in business
Pema Pera: yes.
Sylectra Darwin: Exactly. Just need to add it to the critical path.
Pema Pera: Fred, do you have a sense how hard it would be to make a full backup
Pema Pera: including the indirectly linked photos like in flickr?
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: of the current state of the wiki, or its full history?
Pema Pera: good question!
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: snapshots of the current state are… a snap
Pema Pera: presumably history too
Pema Pera: not necessary, but better for sure
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: i don’t think it would be /too/ hard to get their software running…
Pema Pera: internally that should be no problem — linke photographs harder
Pema Pera: *d
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: in terms of longevity, they even distribute their application as a “virtual appliance” - which is handy
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: and, separately, there are programs floating around out there to save off flickr images
Pema Pera: sounds great!
Pema Pera: who are these people?
Pema Pera: do you know their background?
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: well, i recognized an endroser, Miguel
Pema Pera: I love our typos, end roser — making everything rosy in the end :)
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: he was a rock star gnome developer, who went to work for ximian and novell. they are very committed to Mono, which is the open source port of microsoft’s .NET
stevenaia Michinaga: ….smile
Sylectra Darwin: I think it would be a good idea to have a blend of Flickr linked images and archived photos, don’t you think?
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: (the deki wiki is kinda experimental - but looks like a very fun experiment)
Pema Pera: yes, we are using mono now in connection with OpenSim
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: neat. so this might “just work”
Pema Pera: how hard would it be to make a code/script to construct a full stand-alone reproduction of “everything” say once a month? — Question is what “everything” is ; obviously not every outside site we link to . . . .
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: stop me if we want to talk about something else, but it seems like they are trying to deal w/ the fact that mediawiki is quite difficult to “farm” (run lots of wikis off of)
Pema Pera: off of in what way?
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: well, depends on how much they give us access to. there is the superficial backup, of just the html, and the database backup, if we wanted to run the site elsewhere on the same software
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: mediawiki is a fine peice of software if you want to run one wiki, but its not easy for an isp to run lots of instances off the same codebase. That’s what I meant by “off of”
Cale came in and he was born today!
Pema Pera: Hi Cale
Pema Pera: come join us!
Cale Andel: hi
Terri Holrych: hi cale
Sylectra Darwin: Hello Cale
Cale Andel: hello
Cale Andel: what are yall doin out here
Pia Iger: Hi, Cale, born today?
Cale Andel: y yes mam i wuz
Terri Holrych: yay
Pema Pera: We’re chatting, about the nature of reality, and many other things too :)
Pema Pera: http://playasbeing.wordpress.com/ is our blog
Pema Pera: with background
Pema Pera: we get together four times a day here
Cale Andel: so you talk about politics and stuff?
Pema Pera: not much politics :)
Cale Andel: mentality and state of being?
And followed by Nash.
Nash Fraenkel: hello
Pia Iger: hi, Nash
Pia Iger: come join us
Pema Pera: Hi there Nash!
Terri Holrych: hi nash
Cale Andel: hello nash
Nash Fraenkel: hello again, Cale
Cale Andel: ironic
Pema Pera: We talk about things related to meditation and science and other ways to probe reality :)
Cale Andel: then again this is a small world lol
Nash Fraenkel: well, not so ironic perhaps.
Cale Andel: perhaps
Nash Fraenkel: I was curious to see what would attract the attention of a newbie.
Sylectra Darwin: Do any of you mind if I take a few photos and name you in captions?
Cale Andel: no
Pema Pera: Nash, I was just explaining to Cale what we are doing here; we get together four times a day to chat; http://playasbeing.wordpress.com/ is our blog
Nash Fraenkel: and it seems that my instinct was right in that you found something very interesting indeed.
Terri Holrych: thats hot fine with me
Nash Fraenkel: that’s fine.
Pema Pera: And talking about permissions, Cale and Nash, I like to add some parts of our conversations to our blog, is that okay with yourboth?
Sylectra Darwin: Cool, thanks
Nash Fraenkel: I’d be honored.
Pema Pera: Thanks, Nash!
Cale Andel: as you wish… this is your establishment
Pema Pera: But it’s your privacy :)
Pema Pera: Thank you!
Pema Pera: We never include people who don’t like to be mentioned
Cale Andel: if i needed privacy i would just step out of the room
Pema Pera: haha
Pema Pera: perhaps we’re too careful, but better that way :-)
Nash Fraenkel: i believe it is also a TOS violation to quote someone without permission in many instances.
Pema Pera: that would make sense!
Cale Andel: yes as long as i get the credit for my ideals
Terri Holrych: :)
Pema Pera: :>)
Pema Pera: Nash, you’ve been in SL a long time!
Nash Fraenkel: so then you view ideas as a proprietary thing, Cale?
Pema Pera: what have been your main interests and activities, if I may ask?
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: ideas or ideals ;-)
Nash Fraenkel: not so very long, but an eternity in SL time.
Pema Pera: yeah
Nash Fraenkel: i’m sorry, i assumed a type.
Cale Andel: it depends on what particular circumstance your talking about
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: they both kinda made sense
Nash Fraenkel: so ideals, ideas, the question applies equally well.
We learned more meanings of “sim”.
Cale Andel: i have yet to edit my sim lol
Terri Holrych: u have a sim already
Cale Andel: except for wings
Terri Holrych: oh
Terri Holrych: u mean ur avatar?
Cale Andel: well yea my b
Terri Holrych: body?
Terri Holrych: butt?
Cale Andel: bad
Terri Holrych: :o)
Terri Holrych: ooo
Cale Andel: its an expression
Terri Holrych: k
Terri Holrych: i was just trying to figure out if u meant avatar or land
Terri Holrych: my bad
Nash Fraenkel: sim is SL jargon, short for simulator, which is a server running a region of the grid.
Cale Andel: so who is the loner out there?
Terri Holrych: loner?
Cale Andel: the one green arrow on the coast
Terri Holrych: um
Cale Andel: well nvm he flew away
Terri Holrych: lol
Sylectra Darwin: I remember sim being used in the Tad Williams Otherland series meaning avatar.
Terri Holrych: oh
Cale Andel: nice wings lol
Nash Fraenkel: we are near to a welcome area, Cale, so there will be much traffic at times, I imagine.
Cale Andel: your right
Cale Andel: ……..
Pema explained more of PaB to Cale and Nash.
Pema Pera: Nash and Cale, our main activitiy is minimail: every fifteen minutes stopping what we are doing for 9 seconds
Pema Pera: and later we talk about it here — when we feel like
Cale Andel: hmmmm
Nash Fraenkel: i’m not sure i understand
Pema Pera: I’m not sure I explained :)
Pema Pera: sorry, very short
Pema Pera: the main idea is to do a kind of micro-meditation
Pema Pera: or exploration/investigation
Pema Pera: doesn’t have to be spiritual
Pema Pera: could be more scientific
Pema Pera: 1%of the time
Pema Pera: 9 seconds every 15 minutes
Pema Pera: the idea is to drop whatever engagement you have in the activity at hand
Pema Pera: and try to get a wider perspective
Nash Fraenkel: i see
Pema Pera: shooting holes in your standard way of looking at reality, so to speak
Pema Pera: dropping conventional identifications, at least briefly
Nash Fraenkel: although, i think that it might take me longer than 9 seconds at times to disengage
Pema Pera: interestingly, many people here report that already in teh first few days a lot happens
Pema Pera: and inspiringly so
Nash Fraenkel: quieting my mind can be quite a challenge
Nash Fraenkel: but i find the concept intriguing
Pema Pera: oh yes, but the frequency and repitition turns out to be extremely powerful
Pema Pera: every 15 min
Pema Pera: traditionally half an hour a day or so
Pema Pera: but every 15 min 9 sec takes less time
Pema Pera: but seems mroe intense
Pema Pera: *more
Pema Pera: worth trying!
Pema Pera: would love to hear how it would work for you
Fred had an interesting thinking.
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: i spent the afternoon w/ my 2.5 yr. old niece, and was wondering at what age a practice like this would make sense
Nash Fraenkel: i’ll try it, but i imagine that I will forget some times to stop
Pema Pera: oh sure, no rigid format
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: (guess i’ll have to wait for my own kids to come along ;-))
Nash Fraenkel: i don’t often pay attention to the passage of time.
Pema Pera: a few times an hour is fine
Pema Pera: you fit in well in SL then :>)
Cale Andel: well guys i gotta go do some stuff so I’ll be back later
Pema Pera: Fred, I think a 2.5 is still being trained to forget reality — in order to fit in the constructs we call civilization — and then later we have to untrain
Pema Pera: buy Cale, thanks for stopping by!
Sylectra Darwin: OK, Cale, good to see you
Pia Iger: bye, Cale
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: yes, she seemed continually aware ;-)
Terri Holrych: bye cale
Nash Fraenkel: nice to meet you, cale.
Cale Andel: you too
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: g’night Cale
Pema Pera: interestingly, reality is a lot more powerful than civilization it seems — 1% time for reality is able to undermine the 99% for civilization, as far as we are experiencing here . . . .
Nash Fraenkel: i suppose it doesn’t take much to remind oneself that we view the world through a prism of rules called civilization that has little to do with reality.
Sylectra Darwin: Good point, Nash.
Pema Pera: yes, once you start looking at the world (and yourself and others) that way . . . the trick is to get started
Pema Pera: and not as an idea, but to actually see
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: hmm… I would be cautious about venerating reality, at least if its construed as external to us. If we our included in the equation, I suppose that’s slightly different.
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: (I’m not disagreeing, just trying to be precise and cautious about language)
Pema Pera: I use reality loosely as All, or Being, or Universe :)
Nash Fraenkel: well, can there be reality without ourselves?
Pema Pera: in the widest sense
Sylectra Darwin: I love it when you guys start defining terms.
Pema Pera: I guess Fred was refering to a so-called objective view??
Fred then brought up an essay while Jay came in.
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: there was an essay floating around the web this week - by the editor of wired, Chris Anderson, on the End of the Scientific Method…
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: somewhat provocative, though problematic, and its been on my mind
Terri Holrych: hi jay
Sylectra Darwin: Oh cool, would love to read that.
Pema Pera: never-ending talk about the end of science . . . . . for centuries already :)
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: i think this conversation triggered it
jaymystic21 Baxton: wats hey
Terri Holrych: :)
Pema Pera: Hi Jay!
jaymystic21 Baxton: hey
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: heh. he makes the claim , that in the petabyte era, we no longer need models. correlatoin is sufficient
Sylectra Darwin: Jay, do you mind if I take your pic?
jaymystic21 Baxton: go ahead man
Sylectra Darwin: thankya
Sweet Terri gave each of us a gift, while Pema took his leave. In between, Fred and Syl continued their talk about the essay.
Terri Holrych: i made my first little box with stuff in it this week
jaymystic21 Baxton: no promblem to share myself
Pema Pera: Jay, we get together here a few times a day,
http://playasbeing.wordpress.com/ is our blog — okay to include our conversations in there?
Terri Holrych: its a bunch of buddhist lm’s and notecards and stuff
Terri Holrych: do ppl want it to give to ppl
jaymystic21 Baxton: cool cool
Pema Pera: thanks :)
jaymystic21 Baxton: this very peaceful
Sylectra Darwin: Thanks Terri!
Pia Iger: Fred and Jay look like twins
Terri Holrych gave you Free Buddhist Resources for SL noobz.
jaymystic21 Baxton: twins
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: heh. pass the peace pipe.
Terri Holrych: thanks did everyone get it
Nash Fraenkel: thank you.
Terri Holrych: hehe
Terri Holrych: yw
Nash Fraenkel: Hello, Jay, I didn’t notice you arrive. I was distracted for a moment.
Terri Holrych: LOL
jaymystic21 Baxton: hello
jaymystic21 Baxton: fred if ya had some dreads you would look just like me
Pema Pera: I just got a lunch call here, have to leave now
Terri Holrych: ok peace
Terri Holrych: ttyl
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: this was the peice I was talking about -
http://www.wired.com/science/discoveries/magazine/16-07/pb_theory - i almost want to give him the benefit of hte doubt, and think he was just being provocative
Pema Pera: nice talking with you all!
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: g’night
Pema Pera: c u soon!
Nash Fraenkel: nice talking to you, pema
Terri Holrych: thank you Pema
Sylectra Darwin: Nite, Pema, always a pleasure.
Pia Iger: bye Pema
jaymystic21 Baxton: hey sylectra what was the pic for
Sylectra Darwin: Thanks Friedrich for the article link
Pema Pera: Pia, I look forward to the chat log
Pema Pera: Pia had it easy today
Pema Pera: with us chatting about wikis and stuff right from the start :)
Sylectra Darwin: this will give me something fun to discuss with my dad the science teacher
Pema Pera: but normally she runs a very tight ship!
Pia Iger: thx.
Pema Pera: keeping us all honest about PaB
Pema Pera: :)
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: heh. i’m hoping to write a little response to it soon ;-)
Pia Iger: where will you post your response,Fred?
Nash Fraenkel: the idea intrigues me, but until i read the article, I can’t say much more
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: on my alter ego’s blog? alchemicalmusings.org
Pia Iger: ok. Will check it out.
Sylectra Darwin is harvesting URLs for later consumption
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: well, i have been thinking about ways that technology has been affecting epistemology for a little while now… namely, what’s knowable and how we go about knowing
Sylectra Darwin: Cool, Friedrich!
It’s the second time I met Caspian today. He hit off with Jay.
Sylectra Darwin: Hello Caspian
Caspian Inglewood: hai!
Pia Iger: Hi, Caspian, good to see you again
jaymystic21 Baxton: hi
Caspian Inglewood: Bob Marley!
Caspian Inglewood: oh, no
Caspian Inglewood: just a rasta
Nash Fraenkel: i imagine his thesis along the lines that there is too much information for a human being to truly be able to from a thought-model that adequately captures it?
jaymystic21 Baxton: who ya callin bob
jaymystic21 Baxton: yah rasta
Nash Fraenkel: form*
Caspian Inglewood: this more people than usual
Friedrich Ochsenhorn is Offline
jaymystic21 Baxton: do you guys always come here
Pia Iger: yes, 4 times a day
Caspian Inglewood: often, yes
jaymystic21 Baxton: ah very nice
Pia Iger: 1am, 7am, 1pm, 7pm slt
Caspian Inglewood: and Little Yoshiwara
Caspian Inglewood: we have zendo in Little Yoshiwara, too
Caspian Inglewood: Douiou-ji
jaymystic21 Baxton: cool cool
Caspian Inglewood: come someday
Caspian Inglewood: no smoking indoors, however
Pia Iger: Nash, Jay, we’d love to have you back next time and share with us how you experience from our mini meditaion experiment
Sylectra Darwin: I’ve been hanging with these lovely people for a few weeks and they are golden.
jaymystic21 Baxton: definitly brother
Sylectra Darwin: Cool
jaymystic21 Baxton: ill come back
jaymystic21 Baxton: for sure
Nash Fraenkel: i’m curious myself to hear what I get from it.
Pia Iger: cool!
jaymystic21 Baxton: sylectra what was the photo of me for
Friedrich Ochsenhorn is Online
Nash Fraenkel: wb, friedrich
Caspian Inglewood: Konnichiwa Ochsenhorn-san!
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: CRASH! sorry about that.
Pia Iger: Nash, you can use this website for 15min reminder:
http://www.mindfulnessdc.org/bell/index.html
Caspian Inglewood: you are long way from New York here!
Pia Iger: welcome back, Fred
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: actually, the statue of liberty gave this to me
Caspian Inglewood: ganja man needs some sake
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: (someone even recreated the Twin Towers in here)
jaymystic21 Baxton: ganja is all i need
Caspian Inglewood: I give you good kind
jaymystic21 Baxton: to keep me close to whats true
Caspian Inglewood: this knock you off feet
jaymystic21 Baxton: thank you brotheren
Sake (Junmai-Shu): Junmai-Shu: 100% pure rice wine…enjoy it jaymystic21 Baxton
Caspian Inglewood: sai
Caspian Inglewood: mmmm…
Caspian Inglewood: sake put hair on my chest as young man
jaymystic21 Baxton: what is sake exactly
Caspian Inglewood: I was known as gangster in Tokyo
Caspian Inglewood: sake is very potent alcoholic beverage
Nash Fraenkel: a friend just sent me this message out of the blue: “your fine nash..dont worry..:) your beautiful.”
Nash Fraenkel: :)
Pia Iger: that is nice
jaymystic21 Baxton: cant have that against the rasta
Sylectra Darwin: That’s always a good message.
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: anyways, its actually getting a bit late. i just came back to make sure you knew i hadn’t disappeared.
Caspian Inglewood: it is always made from rice
Friedrich Ochsenhorn: g’night!
stevenaia Michinaga: I must go, see you again
Sylectra Darwin: Me too. Thank you all for the lively discussion!
Sylectra Darwin: Good night Friedrich
jaymystic21 Baxton: peace unity my friend
Nash Fraenkel: it’s like a hug from cyberspace
Nash Fraenkel: good night, Friedrich
Pia Iger: which is also true, what you friend said
Caspian Inglewood: goodbye to all who are departing
Nash Fraenkel: goodnight
Sylectra Darwin: Good night (or afternoon) everyone
Nash Fraenkel: good night or afternoon, Sylectra
Fred, Syl and Steve left. I wanted to go too, but was quite intrigued by Nash’s unusual way of finding us.
Pia Iger: I am leaving, too. You are free to stay as long as you want
Nash Fraenkel: so, you meet here 4 times a day?
Caspian Inglewood: so, for what reason has everyone come?
Pia Iger: yes, Nash,
Caspian Inglewood: sometimes more
Pia Iger: every 6 hrs
Nash Fraenkel: I discovered it in an unusual way
Pia Iger: welcome back some time.
Caspian Inglewood: do tell
Nash Fraenkel: finding myself seeing nothing of immediate interest
Pia Iger: It always great to discover something by accident.
Nash Fraenkel: i went to the newbie welcome area
Pia Iger: and?
Nash Fraenkel: because they are filled with wonder for everything here
Nash Fraenkel: it reminds me of the wonder that I have inside but so often do not see from familiarity
Caspian Inglewood: there is no better way to swim then to swim
Nash Fraenkel: and i met Cale who was exploring
Nash Fraenkel: so i decided to watch and see what he found interesting to look at
Pia Iger: interesting, Nash!
Nash Fraenkel: and when he stopped here, I came to see.
Pia Iger: Your approach
Nash Fraenkel: i’ve done this for a long while now
Nash Fraenkel: come to the welcome area to remind myself of how the world is filled with wonders
Pia Iger: help you to find places?
Nash Fraenkel: it is like children
Nash Fraenkel: well, this is the first time I watched to see where someone would go
Pia Iger: children can lead you to wonders
Nash Fraenkel: usually, I just talk to them
Pia Iger: It is not easy to follow ppl in SL,
Pia Iger: they fly, run, tp
Nash Fraenkel: i find that children like me because I am open to the wonder of things as they are and yet have understanding of things that they seek.
Pia Iger: excellent!
jaymystic21 Baxton: ah i know exactlly what you talking about
Nash Fraenkel: many adults have understanding but are closed in a way
Pia Iger: right
jaymystic21 Baxton: no imagination
Nash Fraenkel: and sometimes that closedness prevents seeing that other understandings are possible
Pia Iger: children can be inspiring.
Nash Fraenkel: so example
Nash Fraenkel: i would not have spent time looking in this area for something interesting
Nash Fraenkel: and yet, here I am now.
Pia Iger: wonderful story.
Pia Iger: I’d like to hear more of your exploration next time.
Nash Fraenkel: i’ll come again as I am able.
jaymystic21 Baxton: yeah i belive that as you get older you lose the ability of imagination
jaymystic21 Baxton: so you lose the ability to belive there is more
Nash Fraenkel: i think that imagination is a muscle
Nash Fraenkel: the strongest muscle we are born with
Nash Fraenkel: but from lack of use, it attrifies
Caspian Inglewood: how was your sake Baxton-san?
jaymystic21 Baxton: good but i had to leave its against my beliefs
jaymystic21 Baxton: no alcohol for me
Caspian Inglewood: hmf
Pia Iger: only Pipe?
jaymystic21 Baxton: no disrespect
Nash Fraenkel: i seldom drink myself.
jaymystic21 Baxton: only pipe
Nash Fraenkel: i’ve never understood its appeal
Caspian Inglewood: okay then
Caspian Inglewood: at least your beliefs have reason then
jaymystic21 Baxton: i smoke something that is the healing of all nations
Pia Iger: healing?
Caspian Inglewood: yes, and grew on Jesus grave, too
Caspian Inglewood: have heard the story
jaymystic21 Baxton: yes
Caspian Inglewood: ha ha
Caspian Inglewood: what was famous King name?
jaymystic21 Baxton: solomon
Caspian Inglewood: no no
Caspian Inglewood: Silacia
Caspian Inglewood: something like this
jaymystic21 Baxton: haile sellasie i
Pia Iger: ok, I have to go. You guys keep chatting.
Caspian Inglewood: my chuckle is feminine
Nash Fraenkel: good night, Pia
Caspian Inglewood: this is unacceptable
jaymystic21 Baxton: let happiness be with you
Pia Iger: thanks, bye
Caspian Inglewood: goodbye Iger-san
jaymystic21 Baxton: see ganja brings enlightenment
Caspian Inglewood: may the Buddha bring you many blessings this evening
jaymystic21 Baxton: you know
Caspian Inglewood: ganja is only temporary medicine
jaymystic21 Baxton: yes
I left Jay and Caspian at the Pavilion to keep chatting. My mind was still delighted by Nash’s story.
