Dakini, the guardian for that afternoon, sent me the following log, with her comments. The title is also hers.

Fael, Adams, Pia, Isen and Dakini chatted, while visitors dropped in and out.
Fael wore an interesting new outfit which seemed to combine a few Japanese themes.

    Fael Illyar: Hello Dakini :)
    Dakini Rhode: hi Fael :-)
Fael Illyar: My outfit is a bit conflicting in some ways :)
Dakini Rhode: haha waiting for it to completely rez
Fael Illyar: Although, you’ll only see it if you look closer
    Dakini Rhode: hi Adams :-)
    Fael Illyar: Hi Adams :)
    Adams Rubble: Hi Dakini :)
    Adams Rubble: Hi fael :)
Dakini Rhode: FAel, it looks like what some schoolgirls might wear :-)
    Fael Illyar: :)
Adams Rubble: SWe are all here to learn :)
Fael Illyar: I didn’t notice the skull emblems or spikes from the picture in the shop and I was initially a bit put off when I noticed them but then I later decided that I’ll use it since I did like it from the distance :)
    Dakini Rhode: :-)))
Dakini Rhode: Adams, indeed we are learning like children in school…
Adams Rubble: I am anyway :)
Dakini Rhode: i have a lot to learn :-)
    Adams Rubble: Yes me too
    Fael Illyar: Everyone has :)
Adams Rubble: I got my copy of Minding Minds in the mail yesterday < Dakini
Fael Illyar: More things to learn than any single person could possibly learn :)
Dakini Rhode: i’ll be interested to know how you enjoy it, Adams…
Dakini Rhode: I’m traveling again next week, maybe will have time to read again :-)
    Fael Illyar: Hi Pia
    Dakini Rhode: hi Pia :-)
Adams Rubble: Well it already has said something the parallels what Pema said to me the other day
    Adams Rubble: Hi Pia
    Dakini Rhode: oh good!
    Pia Iger: Hi,
Adams Rubble: about shedding things to get at ones inner Buddha…or God…or one’s inner mind….or the light
Dakini Rhode: the stuff i need to learn seems to come at me from all directions…
    Pia Iger: same here:)
Fael Illyar: You can see it everywhere once you’re looking for it
Dakini Rhode: especially if you look in similar places :-)
    Adams Rubble: :)
    Fael Illyar: Yes :)
Dakini Rhode: the different buddhist traditions seem different from the outside, but the core is the same
Fael Illyar: Yes, it looks like it’s te same thing wrapped in different packages :)
Dakini Rhode: I’ve not enough familiarity with all spiritual traditions to say the same…
    Dakini Rhode: yes :-)
Pia Iger: I am quite new to all these,
Adams Rubble: Well the end result is much the same
Pia Iger: but I do see the similarities
    Pia Iger: which is relief
Dakini Rhode: i see similarities and also some differences between the “eastern” and “western” traditions
Dakini Rhode: but the eastern traditions do seem to have a commonality in general
Pia Iger: can you say more about diff of eastern an western
Adams Rubble: More willing to take what is best from each “religion” than in the west
Dakini Rhode: not with any accuracy Pia, since i’ve focused on the Eastern for a long time
Adams Rubble: In the west, the three main religions are from the near east
Adams Rubble: the reliogions of the “book” as the Muslims like to say
Adams Rubble: Judaism, Christianity and Islam

We were joined by the buddhist monk Isen just in time to help us dissect the word “being” (or was it “bean”?)

    Fael Illyar: Hi Isen
    Dakini Rhode: Hi Isen :-)
Adams Rubble: All derived from much the same source
    Adams Rubble: from Judaism
    Adams Rubble: Hi Isen
    Isen Enzo: Good afternoon!
    Pia Iger: afternoon, Isen
    Isen Enzo: Playing at Being?
    Dakini Rhode: good question….
Isen Enzo: Can I play too?
Dakini Rhode: care to join us
Adams Rubble: In the western traditions the relationship between man and God is paramount
    Adams Rubble: ???
Fael Illyar: there is this master -> servant setting on the surface at least.
Adams Rubble: well man is a sinful creature and needs guidance
    Adams Rubble: in Christianity redemtion
    Adams Rubble: redemption
    Adams Rubble: with Gid’s help
    Adams Rubble: God’s
Fael Illyar: hmmh,,, master servant … it kind of fits the way I currently see the relationship between me and Being. Not exactly but anyway.
Dakini Rhode: it’s interesting to see how many understandings there might be of the word “Being”
    Adams Rubble: I don;t have any :)
    Isen Enzo: “one who bes”?
Dakini Rhode: haha in this group, that may be an advantage, Adams :-)
Fael Illyar: if you think that we are Being and “I” is an illusion, just the being getting so into the role that being Being is forgotten.
Dakini Rhode: see and now i always thing that it’s a verb P:P
Fael Illyar: that’d, in a way, make Being the master.
Dakini Rhode: as in whatcha’ doin’? - I’m “be” ‘ ing
    Isen Enzo: A verb and a noun….
    Isen Enzo: like “google”..
Pia Iger: I am being Being?
    Isen Enzo: lol
    Dakini Rhode: is that redundant?
    Dakini Rhode: :-)
Pia Iger: no. Dakini, not redundant.
    Isen Enzo: that’s the question…
Adams Rubble: I once thought I was a human bean :)
Dakini Rhode: well there is the basic “I am” part…
    Isen Enzo: play as bean?
    Adams Rubble: :)
Dakini Rhode: and then “being” and “Being” added on…
    Dakini Rhode: beans yes
Dakini Rhode: and don’t you zennies talk about “Is”ness and “Such”ness?

To illustrate his point, Isen donned his sunglasses…

Isen Enzo: “being” could also be adopting a state…
    Isen Enzo: I’m being cool…
    Dakini Rhode: i’m hanging….
    Adams Rubble: me tooooo…….
Dakini Rhode: Isen are we blinding you again?
Isen Enzo: the sun always shines when your cool….
    Dakini Rhode: (noticeing the shades…)
    Fael Illyar: :)
Dakini Rhode: oh, cool! get it
    Dakini Rhode: hello Max
    Fael Illyar: Hello Maxime
    Adams Rubble: Hell Maxine
    Fael Illyar: Nice typo :)
Dakini Rhode: lol ive mad that typo myself
    Dakini Rhode: made
    Isen Enzo: Hello Max!
    Adams Rubble: Oh
    Isen Enzo: hm…
Fael Illyar: you also typoed the name :)

Maxime (not our Maxine) made a brief appearance… we surmised he had been attracted by green dots on the map

    Isen Enzo: pal anglais?
    Isen Enzo: hm..
Fael Illyar: I guess he wasn’t interested
Dakini Rhode: not what he was looking for>
    Adams Rubble: I insulted him?
    Pia Iger: no money here
Dakini Rhode: all these green dots on the map…
Dakini Rhode: look like camping or… other crowd-type things
Isen Enzo: I think of it as radar blips…
Fael Illyar: I went to look at the closest green dot collection in the neighboring sim.
    Isen Enzo: lol
Dakini Rhode: lol that’s an interesting one…
Fael Illyar: seems to be some sort of a sex place.
    Isen Enzo: a dance club?
    Isen Enzo: ah..
Dakini Rhode: when i see large collections of green dots…
Dakini Rhode: i usually think “weird sex”
Dakini Rhode: but maybe that’s just me… jaded
    Dakini Rhode: :P
Fael Illyar: Well, wouldn’t surprise me if that’s the thing that draws most crowds
    Dakini Rhode: that or camping…
Isen Enzo: I’ve heard that a large part, if not majority of internet traffic is for sex…
Dakini Rhode: with the exception of a few other events
    Adams Rubble: not Buddhism?
Isen Enzo: So, maybe that is reflected here in SL…
Dakini Rhode: i hear that it is, Isen
Dakini Rhode: in fact, that’s often the first thought when a person hears about a world where they can do anything they want….
Isen Enzo: Well, I’m looking at the most popular places in SL…
Isen Enzo: first is freebie beach..
    Dakini Rhode: human nature :-)
Adams Rubble: sex is just xes spelled backward
Isen Enzo: second is sex resort brazil..
Dakini Rhode: lol as in excess?
    Isen Enzo: then hippie pay..
    Isen Enzo: brb
Dakini Rhode: for awhile there was a dance club that showed up in the top 10 - just a normal dance club
Dakini Rhode: but the lag was horrific
    Pia Iger: became slooow dance?
    Adams Rubble: :)
    Dakini Rhode: haha
Dakini Rhode: if you could get there with your hair on… :P
Fael Illyar: Yes, the most popular places aren’t a good place to go to. guaranteed lag
Pia Iger: no wonder it is off top 10
    Adams Rubble: hehe
Dakini Rhode: has anyone gone to the SL birthday stuff?
    Pia Iger: no.
Fael Illyar: I was thinking of maybe going to take a look but haven’t gone yet.
Pia Iger: no experience with big crowd yet.
Pia Iger: how to get personal contact? so many ppl
Dakini Rhode: i tried going to last year’s but with my old computer it was like one step forward every 5 minutes
    Adams Rubble: :)
Dakini Rhode: i think ppl go to see the stuff there…
Fael Illyar: I’m trying to wait until the worst crowd is over :)
    Adams Rubble: what stuff?
Dakini Rhode: exhibits, demos, and things…
    Adams Rubble: ah
Dakini Rhode: showing some of the creativity and technologies in this world :-)
    Dakini Rhode: probably freebies, too
Fael Illyar: it’s an excellent way to get wider visibility for shops if they manage to get a place
Adams Rubble: lkike a state fair
Dakini Rhode: or a conference :-)

    The 9-second practice bell rang…

Fael Illyar: wow, I just had a strange exploration.
    Adams Rubble: yes?
Fael Illyar: Like, I close my eyes the same time the bell sound rings, then open them when it ends but no recollection of the middle
Fael Illyar: just a feeling like a long time just passed
Dakini Rhode: you know what they say about that…
    Fael Illyar: yes?
    Faenik: could be
    Dakini Rhode: Good! keep practicing…
    Adams Rubble: :)
Fael Illyar: interestingly, I think that happened because my conscious mind wasn’t paying any attention when I dropped things off and the next things it knew is … well, it’s over.
Dakini Rhode: probably.. i would relate it to brainwaves
Dakini Rhode: in my experience, when you get very, very relaxed as in deep dreamless sleep
Dakini Rhode: there is no conscious memory
Dakini Rhode: and i find that in meditation, you can reach someting like that at first
Fael Illyar: it did sort of feel like I had just woken up
Fael Illyar: after that was over
Dakini Rhode: and with practice, you can learn to keep more than one level of brain activity going at the same time
    Pia Iger: 9 sec sleep.
Dakini Rhode: so that you can remember
    Dakini Rhode: it seems
Pia Iger: cool, that is efficient.
Adams Rubble: quicker than a cat nap
Dakini Rhode: lol even better than a power nap!
    Adams Rubble: a mouse nap?
Fael Illyar: really short nap, yes :P
Dakini Rhode: i do the 10 minute naps
Dakini Rhode: when i am really, really tired during the daytime
Dakini Rhode: i can lie down and tell myself to wake up in 10 minutes
Pia Iger: 10 mins can be plenty time.
    Dakini Rhode: yes - refreshing
Adams Rubble: That’s neat that you can tell yourself that
Dakini Rhode: well listening to myself is the trick…
Adams Rubble: and your body listens
    Dakini Rhode: yes
Fael Illyar: It is plenty of time when you’re meditating.
    Adams Rubble: yes
Pia Iger: beyond those time, we are mostly zombies, maybe.
Fael Illyar: Although, this morning, I meditated after waking up, I stopped it after what I thought felt like 5 minutes and then noticed it’d been 15
    Dakini Rhode: interesting…
Pia Iger: like my snooze, feel like 5min, but already 30min
Fael Illyar: Something new about meditation again :)
Fael Illyar: losing the sense of time
Dakini Rhode: or expanding and shrinking the perception of time
Pia Iger: I just found I can really savor in term of minutes now.
Fael Illyar: thinking about my exploration just now, might be related
    Pia Iger: not by hours.
Pia Iger: I can live very slowly..
Pia Iger: if that make sense to you all.
Adams Rubble: I don;t know what you mean by “live slowly”
Pia Iger: Like time slows down, every min is a good depth and length for me to taste it, or swim inside it.
    Pia Iger: min has… (correction)
Adams Rubble: That is a nice feeling to have…savoir life :)
    Adams Rubble: savor
Pia Iger: also the silence, solitary
Pia Iger: are becoming more tasteful
Adams Rubble: You all are having experiences I haven;t had yet
Pia Iger: maybe everyone feels in different ways.
Fael Illyar: I think I’m again being excited without being excited :)
    Adams Rubble: :)
Pia Iger: a lot of time, I envy other’s advantage, too.
Dakini Rhode: i think, if you continue exploring, you will have different types of experiences…
Fael Illyar: I’m not sure if I’d say it’s envy but I do feel something when others talk about experiences I haven’t had yet.
    Dakini Rhode: always something different…
    Fael Illyar: fascination I think
Adams Rubble: I am not worried about it…I am very new at this….I find it interesting
Dakini Rhode: the traditional instruction is not to cling to experiences…
Pia Iger: to me, I do feel envy, in RL, too.
Dakini Rhode: that’s why I said the traditional answer is “very good! keep practicing…”
Dakini Rhode: maybe someday we’ll all sit here together…
Dakini Rhode: and not have anything to chat about…
Fael Illyar: The experiences themselves I find interesting and they certainly add to the motivation to keep doing these.
Dakini Rhode: that would be interesting
    Adams Rubble: :)
Fael Illyar: but, they’re not the main reason, no
Pia Iger: how about only type what comes up in our mind from 9 sec stopping?
    Pia Iger: blog to blog,
    Pia Iger: real time sharing
Dakini Rhode: that would be interesting, Pia

Nexie came upon our group while floating about…

    Fael Illyar: Hello Nexie
    Dakini Rhode: hi Nexie

    Dakini Rhode: hi Don :-)
    Adams Rubble: Hi Don

Fael Illyar: I like using it for entrances :)

    Nexie Raviprakash: that sounds interesing

Adams Rubble: No, you’re not intruding at all
Nexie Raviprakash: il leave you to your peace
Dakini Rhode: we were just hanging out
Pia Iger: not at all, Nexie
Nexie Raviprakash: i dont want to upset your group status quo
Fael Illyar: do we have status quo?
Dakini Rhode: oh dear, i don’t think we have one
Nexie Raviprakash: i came here because i want to be japanese
Adams Rubble: or eill ever have one
    Adams Rubble: will
Fael Illyar: I don’t think we want one
Nexie Raviprakash: i want to try to be a gisha
Dakini Rhode: do you speak Japanese Nexie?
    Nexie Raviprakash: le
    Fael Illyar: 日本語読めますか?
    Nexie Raviprakash: thats beautiful

Hmmm… it looked like a sequence of squares to me :->

Dakini Rhode: oh! try the billboard in front of Ryusho’s shop
Nexie Raviprakash: thankyou but i do not have that kind of money
Dakini Rhode: i think it’s a new geisha place
Nexie Raviprakash accepted your inventory offer.
    Dakini Rhode: ?
Nexie Raviprakash: i just float about with no money
Dakini Rhode: does it take money to be a geisha?
Nexie Raviprakash: can i landmark here please
