The Guardian for this meeting was stevenaia Michinaga. The comments are by stevenaia Michinaga.
Pema joined me when I arrived... we talked for a moment about schedules, then I mentioned a way I been thinking abut seeing recently....
Pema Pera: Hi Steve!gina Broono joined us
stevenaia Michinaga: hi
stevenaia Michinaga: I'm back from my travels but on phone at the moment
Pema Pera: np!
Pema Pera: take your time
stevenaia Michinaga: back...
Pema Pera: wb!
stevenaia Michinaga: sorry for the confused schedule, July is a strange month
Pema Pera: on the contrary, I deeply appreciate that you are willing to take on a second weekly slot again!
Pema Pera: I hope and expect that someone will soon take over one of the two slots
stevenaia Michinaga: it seems that Wednesdays are now covered?
Pema Pera: Well, that is not clear yet.
Pema Pera: The latest email was from Eliza
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, say that
stevenaia Michinaga: saw
Pema Pera: she suggested to take Wednesday evening *if* someone else would take her Thursday morning
Pema Pera: so let's see whether someone bites -- it's nice that we have two options now for guardians to take a new slot, either Wed eve or Thur morn
stevenaia Michinaga: see how many balls can be juggled by how many people
Pema Pera: yes, it's an interesting combinatorial problem!
Pema Pera: musical cushions :-)
stevenaia Michinaga: ...nods
Pema Pera: or: "onigokko cushions"
stevenaia Michinaga: Hi gina, log time
gina Broono: hello all
stevenaia Michinaga: thanks for joining us
Pema Pera: Hi Gina, good to see you again!
gina Broono: it is good to be here again
stevenaia Michinaga: I has an interesting thought the other regarding presentation that, for me seated itself deeper with me
stevenaia Michinaga: had
stevenaia Michinaga: I do from time to time contemplate the thought of what and how we see
stevenaia Michinaga: the surface, the light the projection of the movie metaphors you use
gina Broono: and how we interpret that surface
stevenaia Michinaga: sorry, typical bad typing
gina Broono: as in SL for one
gina Broono: seems 3-D
gina Broono: the way we see has to do with your point of view too and the physiology of the eyes
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, and recently I have been using my computers camera and screen as a mirror of sorts in my back yard while I do my Tai Chi
stevenaia Michinaga: so I can see myself
stevenaia Michinaga: to practice my form
gina Broono: that is wonderful Steven
stevenaia Michinaga: and while doing that I began to think about the image on the screes being me, but not me, but the screen, I am the movie
Pema Pera: fascinating, Steve!
stevenaia Michinaga: but it's not even a reflection
gina Broono: and you are reversed too
stevenaia Michinaga: my mac's correct that
gina Broono: wow
stevenaia Michinaga: otherwise I would go crazy practicing, it's like a mirror
stevenaia Michinaga: so it was like the Patty Duke Show, for those is us who remember the twins doing the refection of each other in RL
Pema Pera: or the binars in Star Trek, the Next Generation :-)
gina Broono: has your form improved now that you do this?
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, in class we have a mirrored wall, this works great outside
stevenaia Michinaga: when alone
stevenaia Michinaga: so seeing the screen as different layers, in addition to the even stranger point that I ma broadcasting my exercise to someone else sometimes makes it a multi layered event
stevenaia Michinaga: gives surface a new dimension
gina Broono: < nods
Pema Pera: yes, multiple realities interwoven . . . . interesting challenge as to what to identify with and how!
stevenaia Michinaga: brings the movie screen on degree closer when you are the movie, the screen, the "actor" the entertainment, the audience,
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, and how the person on the other end, which is me and someone in another location, sees things in the same ways or differently
gina Broono: friends, I need to go , was nice seeing you
Pema Pera: by Gina!
Pema Pera: *bye
stevenaia Michinaga: let me know when you.... oop
stevenaia Michinaga: she said she was construction a Frank Lloyd Wright house in SL
Pema Pera: quick departure :-)
Pema Pera: do you feel oscillating sometimes between different identities, in that case, Steve, or are you aware of them simultaneously?
stevenaia Michinaga: but then inadvertently deleted them
Pema Pera: sounds like fun! Is she an architect too?
stevenaia Michinaga: for now it's more like a fan deck of successive impressions of each viewpoint
stevenaia Michinaga: yes
Pema Pera: more kaleidoscopic?
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, in a linear way, one perception leads to another
stevenaia Michinaga: but yes, as a kaleidoscopic, each is compose of the parts of the same thing
stevenaia Michinaga: just viewed differently
stevenaia Michinaga: and the screen is just electronics and light
stevenaia Michinaga: even if it is also me
stevenaia Michinaga: or the image of me
Pema Pera: I wasn't sure, from your description above, whether you mirror reversed the picture on your Mac screen, or whether you left it in the normal way -- if you left it, was it not confusing to deal with a non-mirror-reversed image, which must be very different from practicing with a mirror during class?
stevenaia Michinaga: no the preview image is a mirror image
stevenaia Michinaga: so it appears as a reflection, the viewer that I send the image to sees it as a corrected image (my right is my right to them)
Pema Pera: ah, that makes sense!
stevenaia Michinaga: each concept eventually needs to individually "seated" within the person
Pema Pera: yes
stevenaia Michinaga: this one was something I felt earlier from your words, eventually my mind made this of it, which brought it a bit closer to me
stevenaia Michinaga: and makes it applicable in a broader sense now
Pema Pera: yes, I'm glad you mentioned this, it's a much better analogy than just a passive movie!
stevenaia Michinaga: not "applicable", but conceptually applicable
stevenaia Michinaga: yes
stevenaia Michinaga: will need a bit of editing tonight
Pema Pera: hehehe
Pema Pera: still perfectly understandable, Steve!
Pema Pera: well, I'll be off to lunch here in Japan
stevenaia Michinaga: enjoy
Pema Pera: with the timing of the sessions here, I'm always off to some kind of meal, it seems :-)
Pema Pera: thank you!
stevenaia Michinaga: thanks for joining me , I thought sophia was going to me here
Pema Pera: see you soon again!
stevenaia Michinaga: yes
