The Guardian for this meeting was Riddle Sideways. The comments are by Riddle Sideways.
This first half is a little different.
It just came out this way.
I arrived a little early and sat alone.
The SL sign on picture made me think.
And it started from there.
Riddle Sideways: good Morning, Master recorder,</bell>
Riddle Sideways: I wanted to tell you about my thoughts about the SL sign-in background picture today.<bell>
Riddle Sideways: There are train tracks
Riddle Sideways: tracks leaving a station platform
Riddle Sideways: going over another set of tracks then into a tight corner
Riddle Sideways: then through a switch and another thight corner
Riddle Sideways: heading off in what the mind completes as a large loop
Riddle Sideways: It is like the model toy train sets of my youth
Riddle Sideways: only I could maybe find that place here in SL
Riddle Sideways: I could be a flying Av over those trains, train tracks, lichen trees, etc.
Riddle Sideways: Just I flew over those treasles, stations, trees and tracks of my youth.
Riddle Sideways: A Lionel moment re-lived
Riddle Sideways: I was over at Clark's house
Riddle Sideways: He had the most complete train setup
Riddle Sideways: an entire world that the imagination could live in.
Riddle Sideways: I placed my virtual self on that train and in those streets
Riddle Sideways: then Mom would say "time to go now" and I would be jerked out of that world.
Riddle Sideways: think on the Doll Houses that nearly everybody have built here in SL<bell></bell>
Riddle Sideways: the doll houses of my youth
Riddle Sideways: the doll house I spent hours/days in
Riddle Sideways: and yet next to it is another bigger doll house
Riddle Sideways: Susan had a doll house that was passed down from her grandmother with really old furniture in it
Riddle Sideways: Linda had one that her Dad made in his basement shop
Riddle Sideways: I would lay on the floor and be in the little house
Riddle Sideways: but it was not so little
Riddle Sideways: That front room was an entire worldd
Riddle Sideways: I started listening to old phonographs in that front room
Riddle Sideways: Then Mom would say "Time to go home now"
Riddle Sideways: And I would leave my virtual mind environs of that deluxe house
Riddle Sideways: BUT, look over there...
Riddle Sideways: right next to my little grass shack on the beach
Riddle Sideways: Celondra has put up a mansion of a doll house
Riddle Sideways: She is not there very often
Riddle Sideways: I fly over it, my Av stands on the perfect lawn and looks in the windows
Riddle Sideways: The front doors really opens !
Riddle Sideways: I walk up and down the grand stairway
Riddle Sideways: oh dear, this is somebodies bedroom
Riddle Sideways: In the huge living room ...
Riddle Sideways thinks deep about that funny phrase...
Riddle Sideways: [we have a room that is the living room...]
Riddle Sideways wonders what goes on in all the other rooms?
Riddle Sideways: Here I sit on the sofa in a grand high cealinged living room and looks at a picture of many people sitting in this room
Riddle Sideways: I think there is a picture on the PaB wiki of Pema in this room
<bell>
Adams enters.
Just as Master Listener has tired of hearing my monologue.
</bell>
Adams Dubrovna: Good morning Riddle :)Think about those places. The Bar (and not the legal profession) down at the end of the block.
Riddle Sideways: Good Morning, Adams
Riddle Sideways: Is that a tie?
Riddle Sideways: did you have a business meeting today?
Adams Dubrovna looks. yes, I haven;t quite gotten it off :)
Adams Dubrovna: I've been busy on some projects :)
Riddle Sideways: perfect for that "had a hard day at the office" look
Adams Dubrovna: yep, it does have that look
Riddle Sideways: welcome home, dear... How was your day
Adams Dubrovna: haha
Adams Dubrovna: or maybe just out for a stop at the favorite watering hole
Riddle Sideways: remember to remove your pocket protector before going in some bars
Adams Dubrovna: OK, why?
Riddle Sideways: some rough places that a Bic might not survive
Adams Dubrovna: I'll try to avoid them :)
Adams Dubrovna: Thanks
Riddle Sideways: the generation past, went to watering holes<bell><bell><bell>
Riddle Sideways: we don't seem to go now
Adams Dubrovna: yes, that seems to be the case but we still talk about them
Riddle Sideways: have not been to a bar in twenty years
Adams Dubrovna: hmmm. a bit longer for me
Adams Dubrovna: someone is going because they still are around
Riddle Sideways: oops, no I did go to one of those ultra fancy cocktail places
Riddle Sideways: oh and I forgot that I play music in those dives
Adams Dubrovna: unless they are fronts
Adams Dubrovna: haha
Adams Dubrovna: easy to forget
Riddle Sideways: In town there is a dark narrow place that looks like the bar on the Simpsons
Adams Dubrovna: Hello is Homer there?
Riddle Sideways: Everytime I am walking down that street I stop and look in
Adams Dubrovna: Homer who?
Riddle Sideways: I don't see Homer
Riddle Sideways: hehehe
Riddle Sideways: There is always this guy at the end of the bar
Riddle Sideways: he is the only one left of that generation
Riddle Sideways: each bar stays in biz by that one guy
Adams Dubrovna: oh my
Riddle Sideways: we don't have the time in our livies to be at that bar
Riddle Sideways: so he does it to keep them in biz
Adams Dubrovna: :)
Riddle Sideways: some people have those occupations
Adams Dubrovna: yes like guardians in PaB
Riddle Sideways: exactly
Adams Dubrovna: we're the guy at the end of the bar
Riddle Sideways: oh dear
Adams Dubrovna: drunk with APAPB
Riddle Sideways: appreciates being drunk
Riddle Sideways: <bell>
Adams Dubrovna: (btw, that will leave a blank space next to your name but it does show where the break was)
Riddle Sideways: ok
Adams Dubrovna: Interesting to compare the drowning of one's sorrows at a bar and PaB
Riddle Sideways: I'd rather have a Being in front of me then a frontal lobatomy
Adams Dubrovna: people looking for the same thing but finding something very different
Adams Dubrovna: oh yes!
Adams Dubrovna: oh dear
Riddle Sideways: looking for love in all the wrong places
Adams Dubrovna: :)
Riddle Sideways: sorry, I fell in a vat of cliches
Adams Dubrovna: looking for an end to unhappiness
Adams Dubrovna: :)
Adams Dubrovna: almost the same thing
Riddle Sideways: each has a favorite adiction
Riddle Sideways: somebody lst week mentioned intelliual adiction
might have finally made the connections...
each of us do repeated things that others do not.
we have our part to play, our place, our station, our duty and we pin that part to reality.
The bar down the street is still open and available to me to visit once a year because that guy's habit of being there every day. .
Riddle Sideways: That lady that is always sitting on the end table in the library[Jackie Gleason reference].
Adams Dubrovna: haha
Adams Dubrovna: shhhhhh
Riddle Sideways: those old timers sitting at that same table down at the coffee cup
Riddle Sideways: the lady at the end of the block that is always out watering her plants
Adams Dubrovna thinks there is a difference between habits and addiction
Riddle Sideways: earlier I thought so too, not so sure now
Adams Dubrovna wonders if he is addicted to work since he always seems to be there
Riddle Sideways: seems to be adicted to washing dishes
Adams Dubrovna: part of cigarette addiction is habit but there is the nicitine too
Riddle Sideways: part of work addiction is the avoidance of home or other life, but there is the pay too
Adams Dubrovna: oh my, yes
Riddle Sideways: part of the watching TV addiction is the mindless escapism, but there are informative shows on PBS
Adams Dubrovna: but in these econimic times there is some pressure to be relevant or one's job might disappear. hard to tell when enough is enough
Riddle Sideways: yes, we have 2 people that are just putting in their time. And 2 people that can't retire or the company would fold
Adams Dubrovna nods
Adams Dubrovna: where downsizing is taking place, there are other pressures
Riddle Sideways: if that guy didn't sit at the end of the bar, the place would close
Adams Dubrovna: :)
Riddle Sideways: If Jonathan did not come in, we would close
Riddle Sideways: <bell>
Riddle Sideways: if Adams did not come in...
Riddle Sideways: well, we'll keep that lights on for ya
Adams Dubrovna: :)
Adams Dubrovna: Nice to know someone is here when we want to come to PaB
Riddle Sideways: You have a goodnight, Mr. Dunahee
Adams Dubrovna: :)Our habits, adictions, traditions, customs, rituals, etc. keep us coming to [SL, PaB, bar, library, church, etc.] even when a small crowd or just us. So that the place stays open for weeks. Eventually, that infrequent visitor will come by. They wil stop in for a while and it will make a difference. That instant flash, the Ah-ha moment, Satori for them/us/you that comes in an instant, but took your entire life to approach.
Adams Dubrovna: On that note, I must return to my other world :)
Adams Dubrovna: (where I never wear a tie)
Riddle Sideways: Storm, thebartender will close up andAn over night success with 20 years of experience.
Riddle Sideways: Turn Out The Lights, turn out the lights
Adams Dubrovna: :)This was my first time playing with the BELL tags and it sure was not very smooth, will try better next time.
Adams Dubrovna: Have agood day Riddle :)
Riddle Sideways: You too :)
Adams Dubrovna: thanks and bye :)
Riddle Sideways: Thanks
