The Guardian for this meeting was Eos Amaterasu. The comments are by Eos Amaterasu.

    doug Sosa: hi eos.
    Eos Amaterasu: Whups! Hi Doug
Eos Amaterasu: You arrived off my viewplane!
doug Sosa: i mentioned you to jack park, hope that is ok.

    --BELL--

Eos Amaterasu: Oh definitely, I've been playing and exchanging with Jack for a long time now
doug Sosa: I am looking for ways to use the software (unspecified) for the sustainability project.
Eos Amaterasu: Ah, yes, we need software that is symbiotic with our intentions :-)
doug Sosa: oslo and all that.
doug Sosa: well, and that supports thinking rather than data. I am too often aware that data has built in assumptions that limit exploration..
Eos Amaterasu: Software to monitor planetary ecology
doug Sosa: whereas real thinking makes every piece of data shift significance..
doug Sosa: or even be useless because gathered..
doug Sosa: under the wrong premises.
doug Sosa: the problem for us is not the facts of the ecology but the numena of political and cultural coonsiderations.
Eos Amaterasu: Indeed - so we need the training of the watchers, the guardians, the custodians, the habitat partners
doug Sosa: I think PaB is a good partner.
Eos Amaterasu: That is the coming together of #3, the planetary, societal concern
doug Sosa: and the fact that people are already there and what prevents change is institutional momentum and raw financial interest.
Eos Amaterasu: with that of Being without limitation (#5)
    doug Sosa: hi pila.
Pila Mulligan: hi Doug and Eos
Eos Amaterasu: Yes, so that type of practice of individual Being needs to also apply to groups of us
doug Sosa: we are talking about the sustainability project and the kind of thinking encouraged by PaB.
Eos Amaterasu: casually and in institutions
    Eos Amaterasu: Hi Pila
Eos Amaterasu: How have you been, Pila!
Eos Amaterasu: (next time, definitely go to the retreat!)
    Pila Mulligan: fine thanks
Pila Mulligan: how are you both :)
    Pila Mulligan: :)
doug Sosa: Pila is in Hawaii so always fine. It is against the law there to be othersise :)
Eos Amaterasu: Meantime, we can be in moment by moment retreat here
Pila Mulligan: my problem with flying is airports and small seats
doug Sosa: I mentnioned yesterday, what if we did a five day retreat here?
Pila Mulligan: I'd be happy to do one here doug'
doug Sosa: itcould be reallyinteresting, if people would stop double tasking :)
Eos Amaterasu: Interesting, Eliza and a couple of other avatars did something like that, shorter per day, during the RL retreat
    Pila Mulligan: how?
Pila Mulligan: oh, yes, I rememeber now
    Pila Mulligan: nice idea
Pila Mulligan: Adams started it i think
Eos Amaterasu: They met at a zendo or something
Eos Amaterasu: But we could schedule more continuous meetings here periodically.
Eos Amaterasu: One key thing at the RL retreat was to have lots of free time
Eos Amaterasu: which could mean going back to "previous-tasking"
Eos Amaterasu: but could also mean genuinely free time, without need to go anywhere
    Pila Mulligan: like a weekend
doug Sosa: well the free time was quite filled with routine.
    Eos Amaterasu: Yes
Pila Mulligan: I do it already :)
    Eos Amaterasu: :-)

Susi and then Corvi join us

    Pila Mulligan: hi Susi
    Susi Alcott: Hi Pila
Pila Mulligan: how have you been?
    Susi Alcott: _/!\_
    Susi Alcott: you ?
    Eos Amaterasu: Hi Susi
    Pila Mulligan: shaka
    Susi Alcott: Hi Eos
doug Sosa: aj i had forgoten suzzie's _/|_
Pila Mulligan: (all is well -- Hawaiian slang)
    doug Sosa: oops, missed.
    Susi Alcott: Hi doug
    Susi Alcott: :)
    doug Sosa: hi:)
Eos Amaterasu: WE were talking about having retreats here in SL
    Susi Alcott: _/!\_
Eos Amaterasu: How about Sunday morning?
Susi Alcott: there's many options to that in SL too
Eos Amaterasu recalls that morning spreads around the globe
    Pila Mulligan: :)
Eos Amaterasu: Maybe that's the key : that you're playing as being _outside_ the formal sessions!
    Susi Alcott: Hi Paul
    doug Sosa: hi paul.
Paul Namiboo: Hi all -- sorry to be late
    Eos Amaterasu: Paul, hi!
doug Sosa: we were talking about siftware and sustainability and the way PaB approaches thinking.
    Paul Namiboo: Siftware?
doug Sosa: sift, not sift, though that might be better :)
Eos Amaterasu: And how the "being" part of PaB relates to action in the world
    Pila Mulligan: hi Corvi
doug Sosa: still can't get ot. soft.
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: Hi all

    --BELL--

    Eos Amaterasu cranes his neck
    Susi Alcott: Hi Cor
Pila Mulligan: hi Paul (was away and di not see you:)
    Paul Namiboo: Hi Pila :)
Eos Amaterasu: We have two threads going: software and PaB for working with the world
Susi Alcott: what might mean this being part of PaB ...
Eos Amaterasu: and doing "retreat" type time, PaB style, here
Paul Namiboo: It certainly adds a little relaxing talk into an otherewise too hectic life
Eos Amaterasu: The suggestion is that catching that tyupe of little relaxation often, and everywhere
Eos Amaterasu: everntually becomes truly "the pause that refreshes"
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: hah!
    Eos Amaterasu: :-)
Paul Namiboo: I know, but it takes a lot of effort to do that -- I'm trying but mostly failing
    Corvuscorva Nightfire laughs.
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: it works out
Eos Amaterasu: the more you fail the more you remind yourself!
Corvuscorva Nightfire: it took me about three months to get started at all
Corvuscorva Nightfire: and I dont' do it all the time.
Paul Namiboo: I have to reveal that Doug and I worked together in RL today and ended it with a quiet chat outside that I found relaxing
    Pila Mulligan: :)
Eos Amaterasu: Susi, you asked about the Being part of PaB?
Corvuscorva Nightfire: that sounds really nice.
    Susi Alcott: yes I did
doug Sosa: taking the feeling here into the rl is almost impossible to avoid.
Eos Amaterasu: Doug, do you mean experiencing it here carries over into experiencing in RL?
doug Sosa: I am needing to go now. so bye for a bit..
    Eos Amaterasu: Ciao!
    Susi Alcott: _/!\_
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: enjoy your evening
Paul Namiboo: So long Doug -- hasta manyana
    Pila Mulligan: bye Doug

Doug exits, and things get multimedia

Paul Namiboo: Pila, I've been enjoying the Chatreau Mouton you gave me (as you may see) and never a hint of a hangover -- another advantage of PaB
    Pila Mulligan: :)
    Pila Mulligan: fun, eh?
    Paul Namiboo: Indeed
Pila Mulligan: did you master SL flying?
Pila Mulligan: that is also fun
Paul Namiboo: Tried, it is fun, but I'm still clumsy. How do we start the onigokko dance?
    Pila Mulligan: :)
Pila Mulligan: first we need to wear the script
    Paul Namiboo: I'm wearing it1
Pila Mulligan: then be sure the sound is on for the music
    Pila Mulligan: anyone else dancing?
    Paul Namiboo: OK
    Pila Mulligan: ready?
    Paul Namiboo: yes
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: smiles
    Pila Mulligan: onigokko

    Avatars dance like mad

    Corvuscorva Nightfire: wheeeeeeeee
    Pila Mulligan: stop
    Pila Mulligan: :)
Eos Amaterasu experiences avatars dancing around him
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: heh *pants,*
Pila Mulligan: do you have the script Eos?
Paul Namiboo: Great! Lost two pounds just before dinner!
    Eos Amaterasu: :-)
    Corvuscorva Nightfire snickers.
    Eos Amaterasu: Felt molecular!
Pila Mulligan: it is quite a fun thing
    Corvuscorva Nightfire snickers again
Paul Namiboo: How does one start it??
Corvuscorva Nightfire: just say the word, paul
Corvuscorva Nightfire: and it will be done
Eos Amaterasu: Heh heh: 90 secs coming up!
Pila Mulligan: if you click the script and then click wear you will joinj the dance Eos
Paul Namiboo: You mean I can't?
    Pila Mulligan: maybe after
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: you can!

    --BELL--

Eos Amaterasu: during is very advanced!
    Pila Mulligan: onigokko

    --DANCING--

Corvuscorva Nightfire laughs all through the dance
    Pila Mulligan: stop
    Paul Namiboo: onigokko
    Paul Namiboo: stop
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: heheh
    Paul Namiboo: :)
    Susi Alcott: ;)
Pila Mulligan: no you are an expert SL dancer, Paul :)
    Corvuscorva Nightfire breathes heavily
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: gosh
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: that
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: is quite
    Eos Amaterasu: How was that?
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: a workout
Eos Amaterasu: Weren't you totally still?
    Eos Amaterasu: In RL?
    Corvuscorva Nightfire laughs
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: nods
    Pila Mulligan: :)
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: does it matter?
Eos Amaterasu: Still, quite a workout!
    Pila Mulligan: vicarious excitement
    Corvuscorva Nightfire is dying laughing
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: in rl
    Eos Amaterasu: call 911!
Corvuscorva Nightfire nods but can't speak
Corvuscorva Nightfire: cause she's laughing too hard
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: woosh
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: ok
Eos Amaterasu: Any more thoughts on the retreat idea?
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: better
Paul Namiboo: My girl friend just came in, so I'm going to show her before I have to leave

    Pema enters, Paul leaves

    Pila Mulligan: aloha Pema-san
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: hey Pema
    Pila Mulligan: dancing
Pila Mulligan: wear your script Pema
    Susi Alcott: Hi Pema
Pila Mulligan: Paul wants to dance
    Paul Namiboo: onigokko
    Eos Amaterasu: Hi Pema
    Paul Namiboo: stop
    Pila Mulligan: :)
Pema Pera: well, hi everybody! Something we missed at the retreat -- we only talked about doing it . . . . .
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: nods
Pila Mulligan: it would have been complicated to do
Eos Amaterasu: I wasn't exactly sure what it was: now I know
    Pila Mulligan: :)
    Pema Pera: :)
Paul Namiboo: Great workout and chat -- gotta go -- see you all again soon I hope. Thx

    More discussion about SL retreats

Eos Amaterasu: Pema , we were talking about doing small retreats here in SL
Pila Mulligan: bye Paul, glad you had fun
    Eos Amaterasu: Ciao, Paul
    Pila Mulligan: me too
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: bye Paul
    Susi Alcott: _/!\_
    Paul Namiboo: Boy, did I!
    Pema Pera: bye Paul!
    Pema Pera: great idea, Eos!
Corvuscorva Nightfire: how will they work, Eos?
Pema Pera: what kind of format were you thinking of?
Pila Mulligan: (by the way, I'm pretty sure Paul gets the title for the oldest (rl) person doing PaB)
    Pema Pera: yes!
Pila Mulligan: he said he is 77
Eos Amaterasu: I think Pila (?) brought it up, and Doug....
Pila Mulligan: dances like a kid
Eos Amaterasu: Five days, Doug said
Pema Pera: Adams constructed a retreat place I believe, where they met last week at 5 pm SLT
Eos Amaterasu: I think we could also do some sessions on a weekend morning (understanding that morning spreads around the globe)
Eos Amaterasu: Re what such a retreat could consist of....
Eos Amaterasu: one thing the RL retreat suggested was that the "free time" was really the "play as being" time
Eos Amaterasu: We could do that here for periods of time
Pema Pera: we also could use the retreat format of having a ten-minute-or-so practice session, followed by a discussion lasting between half an hour and an hour, and then another practice session
    Eos Amaterasu: Yes
Eos Amaterasu: I suppose that could also be done in the context of a regular session
Pema Pera: yes, I was thinking that too
Pila Mulligan: I'd suggest breaks in between, so people can strecth and not get their bodies stuck at the keyboard
Pema Pera: question is who would introduce a particular practice
Pema Pera: during a regular PaB session -- the goc I suppose
    Pema Pera: or a volunteer
Eos Amaterasu: Maxine was suggesting Sunday 13:00 for as many of the RL retreat avatars to be there...
Pila Mulligan: hi Steve -- want to volunteer?
    Susi Alcott: Hi Steve
    Pema Pera: Hi Steve!
Pema Pera: you mean next week Sunday, Eos?
Eos Amaterasu: Maybe we could use that format there? (plus including any SL av's)
stevenaia Michinaga: :) isn't that always the cast, those who aren't on time volunteer
    stevenaia Michinaga: case
    Pila Mulligan: yep :)
Eos Amaterasu: Yes, this coming Sunday (I believe)
Pila Mulligan: Maxine said she was hoping for more dicussion fo the retreat -- this would be consistent with her hopes
    Pema Pera: sounds great

    --BELL--

Pila Mulligan: at her Sunday PaB session
Pema Pera: I won't be able to join though -- will be in Japan again on Sunday afternoon, which will be 5 am for me in Tokyo
    Eos Amaterasu: :-(
Pila Mulligan: wow, Pema you travel more than anyone I've ever knwon
Pema Pera: I'll be in Japan for two weeks only, this time
    Pila Mulligan: oh :)
    Pila Mulligan: then where?
Pema Pera: back to New York City
    Pila Mulligan: ah :)
Pema Pera: where I am now too
Eos Amaterasu: I put my RL body in RL-doing-session-on-retreat mode
Eos Amaterasu: in this 90 sec :-)
    Pema Pera: nice!
Pila Mulligan: and what did it say to you Eos?
Eos Amaterasu: it felt rather than using words :-)
Eos Amaterasu: but it felt bigger and bigger, and more and more opening up
Eos Amaterasu found the retreat really inspiring!
Pema Pera: yes, I also was very happy with how it all went
Eos Amaterasu: That's part of the play - what you do with your RL aspect
Eos Amaterasu: Pila, in RL I am drinking tea :-)
    Pila Mulligan: :)
    Pila Mulligan: a soothing activity
Pila Mulligan: the SL avi animation sips pretty fast :)
Pila Mulligan: needs to lift the cup slowly, admire its direcoration, turn it around
Pema Pera: So shall we make some concrete suggestions?
Pema Pera: for regular sessions as well as special retreat periods?
Eos Amaterasu: One thing might be to have a specific or voiced suggestion for how to do each 90-secs, or however long
Eos Amaterasu: AS we did in RL retreat
    Pema Pera: yes
Pema Pera: we could have a few standard practices, and also leave it to suggestions from the audience
Eos Amaterasu: It was interesting how getting specific really opened things up
Pila Mulligan: earlier (how it started): [19:06] doug Sosa: I emtnioned yesterday, what if we did a five day retreat here?
Pila Mulligan: [19:08] Eos Amaterasu: But we could schedule more continuous meetings here periodically. [19:09] Eos Amaterasu: One key thing at the RL retreat was to have lots of free time
Eos Amaterasu: That's a long time commitment, if that's meant 5 days continuously
    Pila Mulligan: yes, it is
Pila Mulligan: a wekend day may be the most to do realisitcally
Pema Pera: I can see pros and cons -- my life is so busy, that *if* I commit five days, I really would prefer a 5-day RL retreat
    Pila Mulligan: yep :)
Eos Amaterasu: I think some more "intensive" sessions, of one to severl hours, is doable for me
Eos Amaterasu: Pema, would you consider using some of the points used in the RL retreat?
Pema Pera: oh sure, I'd be happy to
    Eos Amaterasu: Starting with 1?
    stevenaia Michinaga: hello Doug
    Pema Pera: hi Doug!
    Pila Mulligan: welcome back Doug
Pema Pera: You mean the five or six steps, from personality to Being?
    Eos Amaterasu: wb, Doug
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: hi Doug
    Susi Alcott: wb D
    doug Sosa: :)
Eos Amaterasu: There were two sets of five
Eos Amaterasu: Also from relaxation to Being
    Eos Amaterasu: & back :-)
Pema Pera: yes, that was the first one
    doug Sosa: a circle.
stevenaia Michinaga: sounds like a lovely trip
Eos Amaterasu: "guaranteed to raise a smile :-)"
    Pema Pera: (^_^)
Eos Amaterasu: First one is just relax

    --BELL--

Eos Amaterasu: Any comments on this one?
Pema Pera: (I see Pila typing but I'm not sure whether that's a bug or whether it will be a long paragraph)
doug Sosa: in many ways the hardest.
    Eos Amaterasu: Yes...
Eos Amaterasu: I tied this again to my RL body stopping
    Eos Amaterasu: that's very powerful!
    Pila Mulligan: (was not typing:)
Eos Amaterasu: Maybe that's part of doing SL retreat-style practice - both your SL and RL bodies stop
Pema Pera: there are so many levels of rest; each time when you find one, you find the beginning of a deeper one, it seems
Pema Pera: yes, EOS, that would make the SL practice more powerful for sure!
    Pema Pera: *Eos
doug Sosa: hm, i dont think of relaxing as body stopping.
doug Sosa: I had a eacher once,
    doug Sosa: a neighbor's cat.
doug Sosa: came and took a nap with me.
doug Sosa: I watched her breathe.
doug Sosa: Very irrgular, went with her dream thinking. vey irregular.
doug Sosa: So i tried it.
    doug Sosa: loved it.
doug Sosa: She stayed with me her awake
doug Sosa: for half an hour.
    Susi Alcott: _/!\_
    Eos Amaterasu: conspiring together :-)
Susi Alcott: she wanted to bring you that
doug Sosa: the body wants to gurgle and burble..
doug Sosa: is it more relaxed to resist the twicht, or to twitch?
Pema Pera: stopping in the wu-wei sense, I think Eos means, Doug; that includes all that is natural, but leaves out all the extras we normally add, in terms of neurotic behavior, including most forms of thoughts, usually
    doug Sosa: yes, and
doug Sosa: many impose regularity of rhythm on breating. this takes energy.
doug Sosa: not natural at all.
    doug Sosa: Extra.
Eos Amaterasu: Ah, yes, no imposition!
Eos Amaterasu: My dog would twitch only when dreaming - I could practically see her running arouind!
Pema Pera: I'll have to get going -- good meeting you all here!
    doug Sosa: ciao.
Pema Pera: thanks for all the new suggestions!
    Susi Alcott: _/!\_
Corvuscorva Nightfire: Good to see you, Pema.
    Pila Mulligan: bye Pema
Pema Pera: concerning practice and retreat sessions in SL
Pema Pera: let's discuss that further on the PaB email group
    Pema Pera: bye everybody!
    stevenaia Michinaga: bye Pema

    --BELL--

Eos Amaterasu: doug Sosa: it could be really interesting, if people would stop double tasking :)
Eos Amaterasu: Group commitment: that makes a difference
Corvuscorva Nightfire looks to see where Doug said that
doug Sosa: yes. a real problem. one night i was here and there were maybe five of us, no, six, and at a point i realized
doug Sosa: no one was paying attention!
    doug Sosa: Felt like sandpaper.
    Pila Mulligan: :)
    Eos Amaterasu: not even 1%?
Corvuscorva Nightfire thinks about real life
Corvuscorva Nightfire: and how she gets distracted there
doug Sosa: for a bit, no.. no response, not just silence, i could feel it.
Corvuscorva Nightfire: from being right in the moment.
Corvuscorva Nightfire: sometimes by thoughts or emotions or daydreams
doug Sosa: we talked about it. cooking, phone, coffee, reading.. eveyone fessed up.
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: nods
doug Sosa: I am always paying attention because..
Eos Amaterasu: so just the literal act of bodies being there not doing anything much made a difrernece
doug Sosa: i can see my avatar wide awake and taking
    doug Sosa: it all in.
doug Sosa: stange use of "literal", you mean in second life?
    doug Sosa: strange
Corvuscorva Nightfire: is that literal like literary?
Eos Amaterasu: I mean that's what happened at the RL retreat, with RL bodies
    doug Sosa: double tasking?
Eos Amaterasu: but it also makes a huge difference for SL 90 sec retereats, if our RL bodies are also present there
Eos Amaterasu: attending as not two
    doug Sosa: very much.
Eos Amaterasu: Shall we try it the next time the bell rings?
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: wait
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: I don't understand?
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: try what exactly?
Pila Mulligan: the psychi and physical attachment to screen and keyboard can be pretty strong and demanding it seems
Eos Amaterasu: When the bell rings, pretend you're in RL retreat doing a session!
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: ah!
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: ok
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: nods to Pila
Susi Alcott: wishing good time to all
Pila Mulligan: bye Susi, nice to see you
    stevenaia Michinaga: bye Susi
    Susi Alcott: _/!\_
Eos Amaterasu: Bid you good night
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: bye
Eos Amaterasu thinks scripting thoughts about camera detecting RL body movements and cueing them back to avatar....
    Corvuscorva Nightfire smiles
Eos Amaterasu: I will try to make Maxine's max avatars get-together Sunday 13:00
Pila Mulligan needs to slip away also -- bye for now Steve, Corvi, Eos and Doug :)
    Eos Amaterasu: Bye Pila
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: bye, Pila
doug Sosa: this is the longest I've been here. world calls.
Eos Amaterasu: I'll leave after the next 90
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: bye Doug
    Eos Amaterasu: Ciao!
doug Sosa: so lots of little tasks before my next rl ,editaion.. :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: I can wait
stevenaia Michinaga: thenoff to bed for me
Eos Amaterasu: okay, here we go!

    --BELL--

Corvuscorva Nightfire grins..feels like a roller coaster waiting at the top of the hilll....
Eos Amaterasu: How was the ride :-)
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: laughs
Corvuscorva Nightfire: nice and rather uneventful
stevenaia Michinaga: alway better when focused
Eos Amaterasu: yes, catching yourself from SL
stevenaia Michinaga: see you all soon
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: bye Stevie
Eos Amaterasu: being playing as you catching your rl being
    Eos Amaterasu: bye steve
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: grins
Eos Amaterasu: okay, gotta pull the plug on myself
Corvuscorva Nightfire: ok, Eos..have a good evening, too.
Eos Amaterasu visualizes one of those cartoons
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: laghs
    Eos Amaterasu: Bye Corvi
Eos Amaterasu: Should I leave the log running?
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: no
Corvuscorva Nightfire: it will stop when I leave
