genesis Zhangsun: its pretty good I recommend it
genesis Zhangsun: it does a nice comparison between insights of science and insights of "eastern mystics"

genesis Zhangsun: sounds kind of orientalist to me

Gaya Ethaniel: eep, orientalists are all dead now I think, more or less.
Gaya Ethaniel: ah ok
genesis Zhangsun: well you know what I mean just the way in which Taoism and Buddhism and Hinduism are sort of lumped together as "easter mysticism"

genesis Zhangsun: seems sort of passe in that sense
genesis Zhangsun: but otherwise very interesting

Fefonz Quan: well, i don't even know where oakland is? And in fact the three days before teh retreat i plan to be in SF anyway

genesis Zhangsun: takes you straight from SF to Berkeley in 30 minutes
