I, Pema, was the guardian that morning, but I would run into severe internet connection problems a few times. As a result, I was in only during the first ten minutes or so, and then after a break of fifteen minutes for another five to ten minutes. Riddle kindly sent me the chatlog. Given my very sparse presence, I decided not to attempt to comment the session.

    doug Sosa: morning!
Pema Pera: Hi Doug and Maxine!
Maxine Walden: hi, Pema and Doug
    Pema Pera: Evening!
    doug Sosa: :)
    Pema Pera: :)
doug Sosa: so you ust still be in Japan?
    Pema Pera: yes
    Pema Pera: 11 pm here
    doug Sosa: civilized.
Pema Pera: but it's my duty this evening, as guardian on call :)
Pema Pera: I'm not sure whether 11 pm is civilized, but yes, Japan definitely is :-)
Maxine Walden: more civilized that the Western countries or some western countries?
    Maxine Walden: than
Pema Pera: I'd say so, yes
doug Sosa: hm, an op-ed in a nuance...
Maxine Walden: in what ways or is that an easy question?
    doug Sosa: western or some..
Maxine Walden: confusing to follow the thread, I was wondering in what ways more civilized than the West
Pema Pera: oh, that is a matter of taste of course
doug Sosa: more attention to detail, manners.
Pema Pera: but esthetic sensibility definitely is high here
    Riddle Sideways: good morning all
Pema Pera: I find Paris and Kyoto similar, for example, in that sense
    Maxine Walden: hi Riddle
    Pema Pera: hi Riddle!
doug Sosa: hi. didn't see you come in i was watching my navel, ah, keyboard.
    Riddle Sideways: lol
Maxine Walden: I've seen some of the discussion you both have been having in the blog, doug and Pema
    doug Sosa: oops vaporized.
doug Sosa: i don't read the blog so i am like the kid in the back of the class.
Riddle Sideways: maybe you should hold that thought maxine
    Maxine Walden: ah...
    doug Sosa: yet..
Riddle Sideways: speaking of cities... I was awoken today by my son needing me to lookup directions
Riddle Sideways: he was on a train and needed bus stops
Riddle Sideways: I could look that up from california
Riddle Sideways: the internet is great
Maxine Walden: in which city? yes, internet is great
Riddle Sideways: then a little 15 min gong went off
Riddle Sideways: and I fell into a meta-hole
doug Sosa: is he still onthe train :)
Riddle Sideways: my parents thought the greatest thing they could get me
    Riddle Sideways: was the encyclopedia
    doug Sosa: ouch.
Riddle Sideways: we had the whole set
    Adams Rubble: Hello Everyone :)
    doug Sosa: adams!
    Maxine Walden: hi, Adams
    Riddle Sideways: hi Adams
    Adams Rubble: Wow maxine!
    Maxine Walden: ?
Adams Rubble: You lokk different...very nice!
Maxine Walden: cut my hair and did some clothes making...thanks
Maxine Walden: having more time, getting more into the SL swing so to speak
    Adams Rubble: :)
Riddle Sideways: Adams your braclet is very sparkly
Maxine Walden: overcoming perhaps a chronic habit of not paying much attention to my appearance in RL
Adams Rubble: Yes, I hope it is not distracting Riddle :)
    Riddle Sideways: :)
Maxine Walden: yes, Adams, you look quite elegant
doug Sosa: you are both distrating, let's face it. But in a very friendly way.
Adams Rubble: It is an old outfit :)
Maxine Walden: we into 'appearances'? as in a presentation of Being?
    Adams Rubble: Ah :)
doug Sosa: yes, being gives you all to me .. :) and I am appreciattive.
Riddle Sideways: hmmmm, doug and I might not be there
Maxine Walden: in appearances or Being, Riddle?
    Riddle Sideways: :)
Riddle Sideways: ah oh bad connection
doug Sosa: can one do the 9 sec this week and not have politics be present, at last in atmosphere?
Adams Rubble: Good question, Doug :)
Maxine Walden: Interesting what being in the moment sometimes brings: the other day I read a brief thing Pema had written in RL, "There are no things" in which he mentions that all 'things' are energy packets of various sorts...and pondering that increasingly familiar notion really brought Being more into focus at that moment and subsequently
    Riddle Sideways: hi Syl
Adams Rubble: hello Sylectra. Quite an appearance :)
    doug Sosa: that's you ?
    Maxine Walden: hi Syl
    Sylectra Darwin: Hi all!
Maxine Walden: a bit of Kafka?
Sylectra Darwin: Sorry for the abrupt appearance.
Sylectra Darwin: Just some shape experimentation.
Riddle Sideways: Maxine, I immediately thought of Dark Matter that use to be thought of as Not energy packets
doug Sosa: baryshnikov once did a dnace based on the bug, extraordinary. over the top.
Sylectra Darwin: I am attending the Second Life Community Convention in Tampa right now! :)
Maxine Walden: a typing bug, never seen one before!
    Sylectra Darwin: grin
doug Sosa: how is the convention? are we missing?
    Sylectra Darwin: It just started!
Sylectra Darwin: But we have about 400 people here.
doug Sosa: they are all watching us!
Sylectra Darwin: I am sitting next to one of the education presenters. This should be great!
    doug Sosa: First session :)
Sylectra Darwin: haha - only the people at my table :)
Maxine Walden: (have to leave in about 4 minutes)
Adams Rubble: Maxine, could you tell more about what the energy pockets mean to you?
doug Sosa: gad, so interesting how "appearance" can shift the atmosphere.
Adams Rubble: the statement, that is
    Sylectra Darwin: Greetings, Keilor.
    Keilor Shelman: hi, Sylectra.
    Adams Rubble: hello Keilor
    Keilor Shelman: Hello, everyone.
    Riddle Sideways: hi Keilor
    doug Sosa: welcome.
Riddle Sideways: yes, appearances can be disruptive
    Riddle Sideways: deceiving too
    Adams Rubble: Hello Pema :)
    Pema Pera: hi everybody!
    Adams Rubble: yes Riddle
Maxine Walden: meant to say energy packets, does that clarify, Adams?
    Riddle Sideways: WB
Sylectra Darwin: Hi Pema! I'm in Tampa.
Pema Pera: (thanks! very unstable internet connection here)
doug Sosa: i know i am deceived yet the eenrgy of syl's bug is powerful.
Pema Pera: Yes, Syl, how is the conference!
    Pema Pera: Syl's bug?
Sylectra Darwin: Just started! They are streaming the education track live today.
    Keilor Shelman: mmmm
Sylectra Darwin: I am a bug today. hehe
Keilor Shelman: in what sense is the bug deceptive?
Adams Rubble: Hmm. Maxine. it is an interesting idea that I haven;t thought about
doug Sosa: i know it is syl but the appearance reminds me of childhood i New York and the roaches..
Sylectra Darwin: oh dear....not a pleasant connotation then.
Adams Rubble: I hear they have big roaches in New York :)
Riddle Sideways: software bugs are very disruptive :)
Pema Pera: (sorry, internet connection still sloooooow - may crash again!)
    Riddle Sideways: mine too
doug Sosa: i thought japan was ahead of us..
Maxine Walden: I need to leave in about a minutes
Pema Pera: ah!! now I finally see, Syl is bugged -- turned into a cute bug :-)
    Maxine Walden: one minute
Riddle Sideways: lets see I have lost some threads here
Riddle Sideways: are we on bugs in the appearances of energy pockets?
    Adams Rubble: packets Riddle hehe
Keilor Shelman: In order for something to be disruptive, there have to be expectations.
doug Sosa: lets weave them all into a persian rug of stories and desires, and then sit on it with being.
    Adams Rubble: yes Doug :)
Maxine Walden: have to go, all, hope the threads are not making a tangle, yes, Doug
    Sylectra Darwin: ooooh, yes.
Pema Pera: Maxine and Riddle, could you send me the parts that I missed in the chatlog? And/or Adams? I have to put it up on the wiki
    Adams Rubble: bye Maxine :)
Riddle Sideways: Doug, I really like that
Sylectra Darwin: Maxine, see you soon I hope.
    Maxine Walden: bye all
    Pema Pera: buy Maxine!
    Pema Pera: Or Doug?
    Pema Pera: (chat log)
Adams Rubble: Maxine is for sale?
    Maxine Walden: lol
Keilor Shelman: Is the disruption the problem, or the expectation?
    Maxine Walden: bye
doug Sosa: i am technically challenged today..
Riddle Sideways: yes, pema I will send that part
    doug Sosa: thanks!
Pema Pera: thanks, Riddle -- but I also need a bit before you came
Pema Pera: Doug, if you send me yours, I should be complete!
Pema Pera: And I had so much trouble getting back in, if I crash again I probably will give up
Pema Pera: sorry to bore you all with my internet problems . . .
Pema Pera: Nice meeting you Keilor!
Sylectra Darwin: not at all. We've all had them
Riddle Sideways: those disruptions are getting worse for you, pema
    Keilor Shelman: Likewise, Pema.
Pema Pera: well, SL does not have local servers outside the US
Riddle Sideways: or are the expectations that you can remain online the problem?
Pema Pera: it is a legal problem mostly
doug Sosa: no idea how to do that. i highlite the text but it won't copy.
    Pema Pera: it seems
    Adams Rubble: Use control-C Doug
    Pema Pera: control-A first
    Pema Pera: to highlight everything
    Pema Pera: then control-C
Pema Pera: to copy it to your buffer
    doug Sosa: ok sent..
Pema Pera: (but much easier to set your default to saving all chat logs)
    Pema Pera: thank you!!
Pema Pera: I like your profile quote, Keilor - fits with our theme of Play! (Play as Being)
    Adams Rubble learns something new
Riddle Sideways: ok maybe it is the interruptions that are the distractions of our expectations :)
    Sylectra Darwin: lol
Sylectra Darwin: Pema spoke and then disappeared.
Keilor Shelman: I like the idea that almost every aspect of one's manifestation in SL is chosen.
Riddle Sideways: Doug, you prolly should keep recording
doug Sosa: i also need to go..
    Riddle Sideways: o
Riddle Sideways: I need to go too
Riddle Sideways: this has been very disruptive morning
Adams Rubble: I will stay as long as I can but I may need to go suddenly too
Adams Rubble: It has been a most interesting conversation
Sylectra Darwin: I will save my log and send it to whoever is the guardian - ?
Riddle Sideways: ha, I had such an "ah ha" moment this morning too
    Sylectra Darwin: Oh really, Riddle?
Adams Rubble: Yes Riddle? Thanks Syl
Riddle Sideways: but got interrupted before writing it down
Adams Rubble: Pema is guardian Syl
    Riddle Sideways: hi ichigo
    Adams Rubble: Hello Ichigo
    ichigo Breen: hey
    ichigo Breen: hows u??
ichigo Breen: can u explain me a bit of this game
Keilor Shelman: Riddle, do you lose things that way?
ichigo Breen: i cant figure out where am i rite now....
    Keilor Shelman: ah.
Keilor Shelman: ichigo, have you been to New Citizens?
    ichigo Breen: ya
Keilor Shelman: They were very helpful when I was getting started.
Adams Rubble: Every thought seems to have had some kind of interruption this morning :)
Riddle Sideways: back, had to send log to pema but more loss from distractions
Riddle Sideways: ha, yes I lose many things
Keilor Shelman: For a while I carred a voice recorder with me.
Keilor Shelman: when I had ideas, I would just talk to it.
Riddle Sideways: I did too, never got the time to play the recordings :)
    Adams Rubble: :)
Keilor Shelman: then I used a transcription service to turn it into text.
Adams Rubble: What is that Keilor?
Riddle Sideways: I used dragon speak to transcribe
Riddle Sideways: very interesting typos inserted
Keilor Shelman: There was a service I used that would take MP3 or WAV files
Keilor Shelman: for a flat rate per word, they would send you the text in email.
    Adams Rubble: thanks :)
    Sylectra Darwin: pretty cool.
Adams Rubble: what is dragon speak, Riddle?
    Riddle Sideways: voice recognition software
Keilor Shelman: The one I used was at http://www.idictate.com/
Riddle Sideways: trouble finding the nuance url for dragon speak naturaly
Riddle Sideways: but it works better then microsofts
Adams Rubble: Oh, that's OK, Riddle. I was just wondering about it
Adams Rubble: When I did more walking, I could have used something like that :)
Adams Rubble: Always had ideas while walking....
Riddle Sideways: wirh bluetooth, smartphone and walking we could be mumbling great thoughts all the time
Riddle Sideways: I just love to see the great bluetooth mumblers in Costco these days
Sylectra Darwin: bluetooth mumbler... is that your choice of words, Riddle? I like it.
Riddle Sideways: yes will take credit for this moments words
Riddle Sideways: use to be able to tell which were the crazy street people mumbling to themselves
Riddle Sideways: now everybody mumbles on the streets And in the starbucks
Adams Rubble must get out more
Riddle Sideways: most people are wearing the new earrings
Riddle Sideways: some people that seem to not be able to find clean cloths are wearing the sharpest of bluetooth earrings
    Sylectra Darwin: nods
Adams Rubble lives a sheltered existence
Riddle Sideways: they might be looking at you, but are talking to somebody else
Riddle Sideways: please stay sheltered Adams :)
Adams Rubble: Ah, we're talking cellphones!!?!
