stevenaia Michinaga was guardian tonight the the comments are stevenaia's

I arrived to Adelene's greeting, Threedee and Rowan arrived thereafter.  We began with discussing some computer related issue of mutual interest.

     Adelene Dawner: Hi Steve
    stevenaia Michinaga: evening Adelene
Adelene Dawner is coloring a mandala, so she's here, but not using the keyboard for the most part.
    Adelene Dawner: hi Three :D
stevenaia Michinaga: why do people who don;t even use a keyboard still type better than I do?
    stevenaia Michinaga: hello Three
    Threedee Shepherd: hi
Threedee Shepherd: typing is arcane, keyboards have minds of their own
stevenaia Michinaga: I used to "write" using my PDA and a stylus. it was very effective for text
stevenaia Michinaga: I also use a graphics tablet sometimes and there is a similar writing recognition software but very difficult to master
Threedee Shepherd: eventually just thinking will be adequate
stevenaia Michinaga: only if others can read your mind
    Adelene Dawner: ^.^
Threedee Shepherd: when I turn like that, I am looking at the mac screen, which has your broadcast (and mine) on it
    stevenaia Michinaga: hello Rowan
Adelene Dawner chuckles at Three. "Wrong box, love."
Rowan Masala: greetings, Steven, 3, Adelene
    Adelene Dawner: hi Rowan
Threedee Shepherd: sorry folks, I was telling Ade about my new webcamera and broadcast channel
Adelene Dawner and Threedee are moderately distracted... new toys yay ^.^
stevenaia Michinaga: oh, was wondering how she knew, thought it was mind reading
    Adelene Dawner: ^.^
stevenaia Michinaga: what kind of camera did you get for your mac, I may be in the market for one...
stevenaia Michinaga: hmmm, must be focusing on his video chat, I;m sure it;s quite fun
Threedee Shepherd: I got the Logitech Vision Pro. Pricey but works well with absolutely minimal setup
Adelene Dawner: The quality is nice - I need a better one.
    stevenaia Michinaga: you use mail-order?
stevenaia Michinaga: you have a mac as well Adelene?
    Threedee Shepherd: Local Apple Store
    Adelene Dawner: nope
Adelene Dawner: PC with Vista - I'm using a cheap logitec camera.
Adelene Dawner: Which I'm not very satisfied with.
Rowan Masala: is this the first time you've seen 3 on a webcam, Adelene?
    Adelene Dawner: mmhmm
stevenaia Michinaga: I was heading in that direction (cheap) as my next computer will have built-in camera
Adelene Dawner: I've seen still pics before but it's not the same
    Rowan Masala nods
Rowan Masala: well, congratulations on your new vista!
    Rowan Masala: I mean view
    Adelene Dawner: :P
stevenaia Michinaga: I wonder how different it will be if these meeting were video conferenced
    Adelene Dawner: Very, I'm sure.
    Rowan Masala: very very different
stevenaia Michinaga: but I guess you two are working on that
Adelene Dawner: I've considered making my webcam a little more widely available but... meh. Doesn't seem like entirely a good idea.
Threedee Shepherd: totally different and cognitively confusing, is my prediction. However, if my race via camera was on my Av, that's a different story, I think.
Rowan Masala: well, and bear in mind that some among us wouldn't be able to participate if hearing were required
Adelene Dawner: Bad signal to noise ratio issues.
stevenaia Michinaga: similar to RL (a joke)
    Adelene Dawner: Quite!

One of the guardians recently posted some excerpts from the meetings that sparked my interest in the subject and the abilities and energys of the people in our group.

stevenaia Michinaga: have any of you been trough Pia newest excerpt page. I found these groups of comments very focused and interesting
Threedee Shepherd: no opportunity yet to do so
Rowan Masala: only the pages you sent me
    Adelene Dawner: only briefly
    Adelene Dawner: *briefly
stevenaia Michinaga: she has a knack for isolating key snippets from the conversations
    Adelene Dawner: good :)
    Rowan Masala: chime
stevenaia Michinaga: thank you Rowan, I had my sound off
stevenaia Michinaga: I think it great that people in our group can each apply their strengths to give gifts to the group, from simple observations shared to editing excerpts for the group to gain from as an ongoing resource
    Rowan Masala smiles
    Adelene Dawner: definitely.
stevenaia Michinaga: I couldn;t imagine taking on some of these tasks, bit each when applied together, well for one, get us meetings and guardian 4x a day
PaB Listener Master: I've been touched by someone I don't recognize.
    Adelene Dawner: ^.^ Teamwork's a good thing. :)
Rowan Masala: Adelene, what are these?
stevenaia Michinaga: like programing THAT thing too
PaB Listener Master: I've been touched by someone I don't recognize.
    Adelene Dawner: which these?
Adelene Dawner: the thing that chats when you touch it?
Rowan Masala: these listeners on the table
Adelene Dawner: It's a prototype of part of the autorecorder system.
stevenaia Michinaga: the part that will work someday?
Adelene Dawner: That's the base - it generates the balls that we all have floating over our heads, which will eventually record and transmit our chat to the wiki automatically.
stevenaia Michinaga: does it know three is a human under there?
    Adelene Dawner: yup
    stevenaia Michinaga: (sees no balls)
    stevenaia Michinaga: above three
    Rowan Masala: I see them
    Adelene Dawner: Three's got one.
stevenaia Michinaga: I mean above Three
Adelene Dawner: They tend to hide in the name bubbles if you've got those turned on.
    stevenaia Michinaga: hmmm
    Rowan Masala nods
stevenaia Michinaga: I was zoomed in to close, he has a colorful one
stevenaia Michinaga: are there any burning topics out there?

A long pause of quiet falls over the group for quite a few minutes, the the silence is broken by a question from ThreeDee regarding my RL profession.

For clarification, AIA=American Institute of Architects, a professional organization that any architect can choose to join.  Not all architects are AIA members, however all AIA members are architects.

Rowan Masala: I feel really quiet tonight, not sure why
Adelene Dawner: I read something interesting about books earlier but it may be a bit long for this.
Adelene Dawner: I'm mostly with Rowan tho. Just sitting is nice.
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, a pleasant change
stevenaia Michinaga: just remember to breathe
    Adelene Dawner: hehe
    Rowan Masala: chime
Rowan Masala: I have a birthday party I need to head over to. Be well, Adelene, 3, Steven
    Threedee Shepherd: enjoy
    stevenaia Michinaga: bye Rowan
Threedee Shepherd: Steve, I'll ask: Has PaB influenced your "AIA" work?
stevenaia Michinaga: my percertion of PaB seem very much in alignment with my nature, so no, in the sence that PaB hasn't arrived to me, but was already here
    Threedee Shepherd: mmhmm
stevenaia Michinaga: as least as I sense things, drawing/designing/ creating is a natural state of mindfulness
    Adelene Dawner: ^.^ agreed
    stevenaia Michinaga: non-verbal work
    Threedee Shepherd: :)
stevenaia Michinaga: it's when you asign words to the definition is ;;;; things change and evolve with greater understanding of the shared vocbulary
Threedee Shepherd: what about the shared pictorial vocabulary?
Adelene Dawner: not sure I completely understood that, Steve, but I don't entirely agree with it if I did; it's very true in one sense and very false in another
stevenaia Michinaga: so no words, i.e. drawing.... Being gives you an unencumbered freedom within Being to be self define
Adelene Dawner: Being able to discuss things with others allows for novel combinations of ideas, but it also limits the accuracy of the ideas - words are nowhere near accurate enough to fully describe the details of most things.
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, sitting here for months makes that point clear Adelene
    Adelene Dawner: ^.^
stevenaia Michinaga: a personal view of reality and Being is difficult to share accurately
    Adelene Dawner: impossible, actually.
Threedee Shepherd: Interesting that in Buddhist practice, one is advised to have a teacher, even though being can't be verbally expressed
Adelene Dawner: I dunno, Three... I see a whole other set of very good reasons for that.
stevenaia Michinaga: but I do believe I am seeing being clearer through PaB,  has it helped me personally, only from an experimentally state, , I'm always open to a larger view
    Threedee Shepherd: yes, "other"
    Adelene Dawner: :)
stevenaia Michinaga: care to share "the other set"
Adelene Dawner: well, this kind of exploration can be dangerous. Some of these ideas can be harmful, either to the explorer or to the people around them, if not handled correctly.
stevenaia Michinaga: Freidrick had similar thought a while back
Adelene Dawner: 'enlightenment' is one like that actually
Adelene Dawner: The thing with enlightenment is that basically you reach it when you realize you've reached it. (Yes, I know that's recursive. It is.) But if you realize that when you're still conflating enlightenment with relative-type perfection (a myth)... not a good thing. BAD ego trip.
stevenaia Michinaga: that;s when Avastu says there is no enlightenment and brings us back to earth
    Adelene Dawner: Yes :)
Adelene Dawner: But what if Avastu weren't here?
Adelene Dawner: It's solitary practice that's dangerous, more than not having a teacher.
Adelene Dawner: (I can fill that role too, if needed. Why I'm making such a point of being around now that he's not coming.)
stevenaia Michinaga: not sure what you are obligating yourself to, Adelene
    stevenaia Michinaga: Guardian support
Adelene Dawner: mm... not obligation as such. I see a potential need, I feel a need to be available to handle that need if it arises.
Adelene Dawner: It's not a choice I made.
    stevenaia Michinaga: then who;s>?
Adelene Dawner: whose choice? Nobody's. Just happened.
stevenaia Michinaga: I see, like a reason for comming, what draws me here? something for me to ponder
Adelene Dawner: That's certainly not the only reason I come.
    stevenaia Michinaga: I understand
    Adelene Dawner: :)
stevenaia Michinaga: this has become part of my living room, people and discussion that would be welcome in my house
    Adelene Dawner: ^.^ yes
    Threedee Shepherd: me too
stevenaia Michinaga: but a difficult group to keep fed, a diverse palette, which keeps things from ever getting static
Adelene Dawner: yes, isn't it neat? ^.^
    stevenaia Michinaga: of-course
Threedee Shepherd: A quiet and peaceful session, and I need to go :)
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, it is time
    Adelene Dawner: ^.^
stevenaia Michinaga: thanks for a simple question Three :)
    Threedee Shepherd: :)
stevenaia Michinaga: night, seems I have a larger than normal number of typos to look after
    Adelene Dawner chuckles.
    Threedee Shepherd: ^.^
