I spent 50 minutes at the empty pavilion, then Tycho arrived and greeted my frog. The first few lines he said were out of autologger range so they're missing.

Fael Illyar: you caught me just in time. I was just thinking to leave :)

Tycho Foxclaw: ah, well don't let me keep you from something good, I'm jsut waiting to go to sleep
Tycho Foxclaw: Insomnia is nothing to loose sleep over I hear
Fael Illyar: Well, I do like saying a word or two when meeting new people :)
Tycho Foxclaw: How's your store doing?
Fael Illyar: Starting to have some sales :)
Tycho Foxclaw: in this economy that is good
Fael Illyar: Yes, I guess it is :)
Fael Illyar: the direction has been up for my shop.
Tycho Foxclaw: I know a lot of people who didn't go up even though they were talanted
Fael Illyar: Yes, being good at making things is not enough.
Tycho Foxclaw: nope, hard to get into sales here and impossible to really make money unless you are big
Fael Illyar: Yep, it's exponential effect. The bigger you are, the easier you will sell. Even if it's not as good as some smaller shops sell.
Tycho Foxclaw: The girl who runs Bear@Rose is doing well but she puts out new outfits daily
Fael Illyar: Yes, I use her outfits a lot :)
Fael Illyar: She's very talented.
Fael Illyar: and I keep being eyes wide at her putting new outfits out at the speed she does.
Tycho Foxclaw: and cheap, the prices have really come down
Fael Illyar: I think she's been selling for those prices for over 2 years now
Tycho Foxclaw: your av is very well done, is it one of yours?
Fael Illyar: shape is mine, Skin, hair, clothes are bought :)
Fael Illyar: except the golden design on my breast, that's my own.
Fael Illyar: and the flower
Fael Illyar: the frog is by a friend

Fael Illyar: I made it to be a tattoo but noticed this morning it works pretty well on top of this red sweater too :)
Tycho Foxclaw: yes is does.
Tycho Foxclaw: A friend of mine is big on tats. Mostly asian style

Fael Illyar: I've been working on getting it released.
Fael Illyar: for sale at my shop.
Fael Illyar: Takes more work than making it in the first place :)
Tycho Foxclaw: yes that it can
Fael Illyar: well, the bonus is that the end result is a bit better than I'd go for otherwise :)
Tycho Foxclaw: There are a lot of talented artists here but also alot of hack steal it off of DA types
Fael Illyar: I added some shading to the tattoo this morning.
Fael Illyar: Well, it's a "cost" of doing business here.

Tycho Foxclaw: that and keeping up with the latest tools and tricks
Fael Illyar: Yep :)
Tycho Foxclaw: I know of some who didn't keep up and got passed by
Fael Illyar: yes, that can happen too.
Fael Illyar: I mostly create for myself but placing the things for sale is a kind of for others thing.
Tycho Foxclaw: have you spent any time on DA?
Fael Illyar: DeviantArt?
Tycho Foxclaw: yea
Fael Illyar: I had a thought of uploading some samples of my work there.
Fael Illyar: but, they'd have to be snapshots as I haven't really made anything besides in SL
Fael Illyar: I could show you an example if you don't mind full frontal nudity :)
Tycho Foxclaw: why snapshots?
Tycho Foxclaw: that's fine, Im an old decrepid artist
Fael Illyar: snapshots because ... I haven't made anything I can really portay any other way.
Tycho Foxclaw: Nice shot, but I'm still confused about the snapshot, you can take high quality shots in SL
Fael Illyar: umm... why can't snapshot be high quality?
Tycho Foxclaw: well I"m confused at the term snapshot. in Da that is a unsearhable pic
Fael Illyar: Ah, I'm not familiar with DA terms
Fael Illyar: so it was strictly in SL snapshot sense
Tycho Foxclaw: I see.
Fael Illyar: and in my mind covers what I just gave you
Tycho Foxclaw: Though DA would be a good place to get ideas
Fael Illyar: I've browsed DA sometimes :)
Fael Illyar: my sister has an account there and has uploaded a lot of her work.
Tycho Foxclaw: Sl shots in DA usually don't get much response
Tycho Foxclaw: although I have added a couple as humor
Fael Illyar: yes... I'd propably need to do something to them before they'd look good enough :)
Fael Illyar: by DA standards they're a bit low grade I guess :)
Tycho Foxclaw: For DA they are looking for more artsie fartsi stuff so a shot ina garden etc

Tycho Foxclaw: It was my last, I liked clay but it killed my hands
Tycho Foxclaw: I just decided one day to take up art and signed up for the AAU online university
Tycho Foxclaw: Tough learning art when starting off without knowing how to draw a circle
Fael Illyar smiles 'My starting point too ... I still have trouble making a circle with my hands that looks like one.'
Fael Illyar: even if I did use my trackball to draw what I'm wearing on top of my sweater
Tycho Foxclaw: Its one of the reasons Im in SL I make avies to pose for me
Fael Illyar: ah, you use that to help you draw?
Tycho Foxclaw: and study, the sliders make for some intersting study tools when working on proportions
Fael Illyar: Ah yes, I've spent a lot of time with shapes :)
Fael Illyar: Often when I decide my shape needs a change, I go through every slider, move it around and let it settle where feels appropriate :)
Fael Illyar: it's been a while since that happened last though
Tycho Foxclaw: I am still working on proportions. Very hard to get right in the brain and on paper

Fael Illyar: working on my AVs shape has helped my sense of proportions though.
Tycho Foxclaw: Funny how we admire the opposite sex since the time we became teens but put a piece of paper in front of us and it all goes blank

Tycho Foxclaw: I keep learning but I still have such a LONG way to go. I am still a beginner being looked at funny in class
Fael Illyar: heh... I just had someone tell me my AVs face in the snapshot looks scary.
Tycho Foxclaw: Holy hoofta batman I have 83 messages in my DA account! I'm a bad boy for letting that pile up
