Eos Amaterasu: architecture as angels
Paradise Tennant: lol saw him perform live too .. 5 encores ... had everyone dancing in the aisles .. from 20 somethings to 80 somethings :)
Eos Amaterasu: I like it when you run into those musical moments that are just some unknown or little known musician, playing as good as it gets
Bruce Mowbray: "In the clearing stands a boxer - and a fighter by his trade, and he carries the reminders. . . " -Simon.
Paradise Tennant: smiles how does wol put it .. "music is the wine that fills the cup of silence .. :)
Bruce Mowbray: ;-) -- beautiful.
Eos Amaterasu: yes, really nice one
Calvino Rabeni: @Eos, I know what you mean - maybe it's something to seek out
Eos Amaterasu: or be open to, so you can listen without credentials
Bruce Mowbray: @ Eos and Cal: as in the subways of New York. . . Live - and as good as it gets.
Calvino Rabeni: Yes
Eos Amaterasu: it's not about Joshua Bell, it's about great music
Eos Amaterasu: Yes, last March I had a great experience with some early morning blues between Times Square and Grand Central
Bruce Mowbray: Ahhh. . . gasp at the memories of that!
Paradise Tennant: smiles at eos ...
Eos Amaterasu: Just a few days ago I was walking through Halifax's public garden with a friend, and in the gazeebo could hear some great vocal harmonies
Bruce Mowbray: I have been in that park and at that gazebo. . . right next to the Citadel...
Eos Amaterasu: turned out to be five sisters from Newfoundland; their mom was selling CDs; they were as good as it gets: magic happening!
Bruce Mowbray: go on, please.
Bruce Mowbray: wonderful!
Eos Amaterasu: You feel "good spirit" coming through
Eos Amaterasu: sometimes coming from the earth itself
Paradise Tennant: smiles ...very fond of good spirit :)
Eos Amaterasu: or feeling gratitude that the earth could keep producing such fresh, vital spirit
Calvino Rabeni: In Seattle there are a couple of *very* talented percussionist/panhandlers that play on found objects.
Eos Amaterasu: Actually was listening to M.I.A. earlier today and really enoying their energy/her energy
Eos Amaterasu: Any suggestions for approaching upcoming 90 secs?
Paradise Tennant: was walking in the park with the dog on the weekend and a young teenager was running and doing summersaults mid air and land on his feet every time .. almost like a spinning top ... alive with energy :) made me smile .. made the dog bark with one ear up and one ear down .. so to speak .. :)
Calvino Rabeni: Music of the Spheres is my thought for the break
Paradise Tennant: moments ?
Paradise Tennant: smile perfect cal :
--BELL--
Eos Amaterasu: Hi Casey, we're in a 90 second gap....
Casey Silvershade: hi, ok
Eos Amaterasu: Whups, I gave her a notecard and she vaporized!
Bruce Mowbray: Welcome, Casy.
Bruce Mowbray: May I share a sonnet I wrote recently -- ?
Bruce Mowbray: a quick one...
Paradise Tennant: smiles please
Eos Amaterasu listens
Bruce Mowbray: Forest Chat
A week ago I wandered in the wood
With no intent, instruction, or incline
Than friendship with the forest as I stood
Among the willow, sycamore, and pine.
A giant oak and I had just begun
A confidential conversation there
Beside the creek, beneath a shadowed sun,
When two heroic hunters stopped to stare.
I only saw them as the ancient oak
Was branching out beyond his usual themes.
For fear of interrupting, neither spoke,
Though wonder on their faces uttered reams.
The heart of nature speaks to him who hears
As saplings sing the music of the spheres.
-- by Bruce Mowdray 6-8-10
Calvino Rabeni: Calvino Rabeni waves hands claps and whistles like wind in the trees
Paradise Tennant: sychronicity ? very beautiful sychronicity :)
Eos Amaterasu: Wow, great!
Eos Amaterasu: Love those last two lines!
Bruce Mowbray: Thanks. Very much. I live and breathe with trees, my brothers and sisters.
Eos Amaterasu: Our Real Life "Avatars in the Forest" retreat is coming up in two weeks....
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, in Nova Scotia!
Eos Amaterasu: http://www.windhorsefarm.org/
Paradise Tennant: with 700 year old trees ?? is that right ?
Eos Amaterasu: retired trees :-)
Eos Amaterasu: Special place - seems to be right up your alley, Bruce!
Bruce Mowbray: Gosh -- I so wish I could be there.
Paradise Tennant: love the motto .. : everyone can bring everyone along ...
Eos Amaterasu: I think it will be interesting to PaB in nature, so to speak
Eos Amaterasu: enveloped directly in it
Eos Amaterasu: NL (Natural Life) as distinct from RL (natural plus electronics) as RL is from SL
Calvino Rabeni: I second that, Eos :)
Bruce Mowbray: How long will the retreat last?
Eos Amaterasu: 5 full days, bracketed by Sunday night and Saturday morning
Eos Amaterasu: Day of silence in the middle
Bruce Mowbray basks in his envy. . .
Eos Amaterasu: Jim Drescher, caretaker of Windhorse Farm, has a "forest practice" that fits in well with "appreciate the presence of appearance"
Calvino Rabeni: During the pause I realized how close "nature" can be - as in right here right now :)
Eos Amaterasu: ideallly we are the freshest expression of nature
Eos Amaterasu: Let's go there!
Bruce Mowbray: Ashland, Oregon -- I think it is - - amazingly beautiful state.
Calvino Rabeni: I'm am very fond of it
Calvino Rabeni: :)
Bruce Mowbray: and the Shakespeare so close, too.
Paradise Tennant: smiles ..looks like a wondeful place to be one with nature :)
Calvino Rabeni: All Ashland's a Stage
Eos Amaterasu: Shakespeare...Rosalind leaving messages on tree trunks
Calvino Rabeni: Theater is the main industry there, really
--BELL--
Eos Amaterasu: a play attempts to capture the poetry of our nature
Eos Amaterasu: Is that where you are now, Calvino?
Calvino Rabeni: No, I was there in May, but not now
Paradise Tennant: smiles and looks out at the array of city lights .. huge walls of windows reflecting the shadows of lights ..thinking on all the different types of nature :)
Eos Amaterasu: Toronto nature, Paradise?
Paradise Tennant: yes ..one of movement .. and a myriad of reflective surfaces :) .. lots of energy
Eos Amaterasu: energy connected to basic wildness, as in wilderness
Paradise Tennant: always find it hard to understand why human creation is sometimes seen as unnatural .. we are part of nature .. our creations as natural as spider web .. a honey comb ..usually just noisier :)
Hokon Cazalet: =)
Hokon Cazalet: id agree paradise
Eos Amaterasu: music seems to be one high-tech global medium for connecting to basic wildness in that sense
Paradise Tennant: hiya hokon :)
Hokon Cazalet: hi =)
Bruce Mowbray: Welcome, Hokon.
Hokon Cazalet: =)
Eos Amaterasu: HI Hokon
Eos Amaterasu: Have you been here, to Play as Being, before?
Hokon Cazalet: yup
Eos Amaterasu: Cool - so you know we log the text chat, etc.
Hokon Cazalet: yup
Bruce Mowbray: We've recently experiences several wake-up calls from Nature -- major earthquakes, hurricanes, tsunamis, oil spill -- and I hope that the consciousness of humankind is aroused to be more sensitive to our connections through all of this.
Eos Amaterasu: Hmm... it's a bit like being in a dream where disaster is immanent but your motions are suddenly slow and mired and there's nothing you can do about it
Paradise Tennant: hmm
--BELL--
Paradise Tennant: always things you can do .. starting with your first thought .. aspiration ..
Paradise Tennant: smiles .. getting weary .. think I will say good night .. thank you all for the conversation .. the company .. the poetry .. the music of the spheres :P
Eos Amaterasu: I will also disperse, thanks gang!
Bruce Mowbray: Thank you, Paradise. Be well.
Paradise Tennant: smiles and goes poufie :)
Bruce Mowbray: Walk in beauty, Eos.
Eos Amaterasu: :-)
Calvino Rabeni: Bye (belatedly) Paradise
Bruce Mowbray: and so it is.
Bruce Mowbray: a mid-summer's night -- and a good one for dreaming, too.
Bruce Mowbray: Druth -- I'm sorry. I did not see you arrive. Welcome.
Calvino Rabeni: Hello Druth :)
druth Vlodovic: guess I missed the party
Calvino Rabeni: Maybe, but the best might be yet to come :)
Bruce Mowbray: a quiet sort of party -- and a good one. How are you tonight?
druth Vlodovic: not bad, in the strange time between vacation and back to work
Calvino Rabeni: Hi, Cinda :)
Bruce Mowbray: Hey, Lucinda -- Hi!
Lucinda Lavender: Hi Druth, Cal, Bruce!
Lucinda Lavender: And Blub of course...
druth Vlodovic: :)
Bruce Mowbray: Blub bubbles his greetings to druth and Luncinda.
Lucinda Lavender: :)
Bruce Mowbray: welcome back, Hokon.
Hokon Cazalet: ty =)
Lucinda Lavender: Hi Hokon!
Hokon Cazalet: =)
Calvino Rabeni: Are there any thoughts "in the air"?
Calvino Rabeni: Earlier there was one floating around - music of the spheres
Calvino Rabeni: If we could only be aware of it - it would be fascinating to know the true overlaps of all the thoughts we consider "private"
Lucinda Lavender: yes!
--BELL--
Calvino Rabeni: Cinda's alert to the collective dreaming mind I believe
Lucinda Lavender: Has anyone else had a predominent theme going on...?
Lucinda Lavender: In the dream circle last night there seemed to be a themes of a sort. Not as many that mirrored each other.
Bruce Mowbray: In some sense, your t-shirt resonates a similar message: "An injury to one is an injury to all."
Calvino Rabeni: It does refer to a collective and some idea of solidarity, doesn't it?
Lucinda Lavender: yes
Calvino Rabeni: I've always thought, it woudl be interesting in a group of people, to ask each to think of maybe 5 or so images currently floating in the back of their mind, then write them on cards and mix them, then lay them out as a "collective picture" and see the overlaps and relationships
Lucinda Lavender: nice idea
Calvino Rabeni: It would seem like synchronicity, I suspect
Lucinda Lavender: and if the picture came from listening deeply there might be more connection...
Calvino Rabeni: Yes, true
Lucinda Lavender: what if we were to try it...
Calvino Rabeni: But we don't really know - maybe even our trashy, disrespected thoughts have resonance
Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
Lucinda Lavender: after the bell...
Lucinda Lavender: yes I know what you mean
Bruce Mowbray: You mean, so it is not for public viewing - or reading?
Lucinda Lavender: oh not sure there...
Bruce Mowbray: . . . Hey, Ben.
Lucinda Lavender: HI Ben
Benjamin Greycloak: Hi room!
Calvino Rabeni: There is the option to use a private chat that is not put in the public permanent log, if that might help the process
Hokon Cazalet: hi ben
Benjamin Greycloak: Hi Hokon, Lucinda, Bruce!
Bruce Mowbray: Are you cooling off, there in the fountain, Ben?
Benjamin Greycloak: And Lucinda, srry1
Lucinda Lavender: I would think that it would be interesting to see what suprised people most in their day.
Benjamin Greycloak: Just my ass!
Lucinda Lavender: Hii Ben
Benjamin Greycloak: and feet
Bruce Mowbray: OK -- What surprised each of us most this day?
Lucinda Lavender: yes
Calvino Rabeni: Bye the way, Ben, you're sitting on a chat recording device
Bruce Mowbray: OK to answer now -- taking turns?
Benjamin Greycloak: I might be an atheist!
Calvino Rabeni: everything said here is published on the internet
Bruce Mowbray: you will not be the only atheist present, Ben. . . if that's what you are.
Calvino Rabeni: And we generally need to advise visitors there's no privacy of what is said here
Lucinda Lavender: sometimes the unplanned or fresh things are more universal to my way of thinking
Bruce Mowbray: OK -- What surprised me most today was. . . .
Bruce Mowbray: discovering that my living room ceiling was leaking -- from all the rain we had today.
Calvino Rabeni: Yes that's a *great* question, Lucinda :)
Lucinda Lavender: ah!
Benjamin Greycloak: Well, I don't know that I ever believed in the Judeo-Christian God, but I've always been spiritual...but I don't know that I have good enough reasons now
Bruce Mowbray: What surprised you most today, Ben?
Lucinda Lavender: was this a new thought then Ben?
Benjamin Greycloak: No, when I was about 14 that was my first foray into atheism
Lucinda Lavender: ah
Hokon Cazalet: what suprised me today was playing an old game from 1998 would still be just as fun as it was 10 yrs ago =)
Lucinda Lavender: but it appeared again today?
Lucinda Lavender: :) nice Druth
Calvino Rabeni: What surprised me today was - I was riding a bicycle and suddenly ran into a monarch butterfly
Hokon Cazalet: i love those kind of butterflys =)
Lucinda Lavender: me too
Benjamin Greycloak: Well, I'm a big fan of youtube and I disocovered the Austin Atheist Experience
Benjamin Greycloak: What game Hokon?
Hokon Cazalet: half-life, the first one
Hokon Cazalet: a pc game
Lucinda Lavender: it is always a nice surprise to find the common interst and language understanding.
Benjamin Greycloak: Iknow it...played counterstrike
Benjamin Greycloak: which uses halflife engine
Hokon Cazalet: i used to play counterstrike also
--BELL--
Lucinda Lavender: My surprise today...very mundane but...that my glasses would work better with a nosepad adjustment.
Hokon Cazalet: hehe
Benjamin Greycloak: sure...I'm not too much of a gamer now (no tv) but I'm excited for starcraft2
Benjamin Greycloak: if youre familia
Benjamin Greycloak: r
Bruce Mowbray: You're not wearing them now, Lucinda. . . so, did the nosepad work?
Lucinda Lavender: :) it was a RL thing actually...new computer ground glasses were giving a big problem till this adjustment. So sensitive are they!
Bruce Mowbray thinks: "I am probably the only male in the Western Hemisphere who has never played a computer game."
Bruce Mowbray: ahh I see. . . well, I hope they do work for you in RL, then.
Lucinda Lavender: much better
Lucinda Lavender: thank you
Lucinda Lavender: ok
Lucinda Lavender: I am wondering what the most surprising thing in the games were?
Benjamin Greycloak: Not even "Leisure Suit Larry"?
Calvino Rabeni: Not at all Bruce - Until a couple of months ago I hadn't either - and the one I played was pure Nature
Bruce Mowbray: I have written a few simple computer game, but - honestly - I have nevber played one.
Bruce Mowbray: Pure Nature --- sounds like my cup of teas.
Lucinda Lavender: or cup of trees
Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
Calvino Rabeni: You might like it - in the game you get to be the Wind, and travel over grasses
Calvino Rabeni: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flower_%28video_game%29
Bruce Mowbray: Druth, did you have a surprise today?
Bruce Mowbray: TY, Cal -- I'll check it out.
druth Vlodovic: I guess the closest is that I'm starting to like driving, listen to music and it takes up enought of my concentration to "clear" my mind a bit
Lucinda Lavender: quite a task driving
Bruce Mowbray: mmmmm..... Hey, Regis.
druth Vlodovic: I normally detest it, but after 6 hours it starts to grow on you :)
Lucinda Lavender: ah:)
Lucinda Lavender: getting in to the flow
Calvino Rabeni: I like long-distance driving
Lucinda Lavender: finding a fun thing where there once was struggle..
Calvino Rabeni: yes
Lucinda Lavender: time can fly by with music I have found..especially when I know the notes and words and sing along
Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
Lucinda Lavender: a trip of three hous is much shorter
Lucinda Lavender: hours
Bruce Mowbray muses to self: "I am probably the only person in the Western Hemisphere who has an iPod with over 400 Dharma talks on it - but not a single song."
Hokon Cazalet: lol
Lucinda Lavender: :)))
druth Vlodovic: :)
Bruce Mowbray says, "True."
druth Vlodovic: I choose music that keeps me awake and doesn't steal my concentration,
Lucinda Lavender: would you want to say the genre?
Bruce Mowbray: That would be "a Middle Way," for sure.
Lucinda Lavender: curious
Calvino Rabeni: Calvino Rabeni perks up at "Middle Way"
druth Vlodovic: lady gaga, mary poppins, ozzy ozborne, wizard of OZX :) I like a mix
Lucinda Lavender: nice!
Lucinda Lavender: a spoonful of sugar
Calvino Rabeni: Does anyone care to throw images into the pool?
Lucinda Lavender: how?
Lucinda Lavender: words?
Calvino Rabeni: Find an image online, then chat the link
Calvino Rabeni: http://www.biocrawler.com/w/images/9...ngton,_usa.jpg
--BELL--
Calvino Rabeni: http://echostains.files.wordpress.co...1-magician.jpg
Lucinda Lavender: this might chalenge my sskills...
Calvino Rabeni: One that reflects something floating in thye back of yr mind
Calvino Rabeni: well, just think the word, then google it, then click on Images, is one way to do it
Bruce Mowbray: I'm going outside to gaze at stars and hug my dog -- and thence to bed. Thank you all.
Hokon Cazalet: =)
Lucinda Lavender: http://www.viecoballoons.com/beach.htm
