Eliza Madrigal: there are so many things I thought I wanted for her... but her happiness itself exceeds my hopes
Eliza Madrigal: that she is very appreciative and happy where she is

Paradise Tennant: complicated in a way .. a jumble of tom boy .. ferocious reader and jock :)

Paradise Tennant: no not really meditative but observant.. very sensitive to others

Eliza Madrigal: and I was spiritual at my daughter's age, but also ambitious about it... perfectionist even.

Eliza Madrigal: 18 was a transformative year... started it off by going father away from home than I'd ever been...

stevenaia Michinaga: I always felt there was something I missed out on in my youth, more education , for instance

Eliza Madrigal: hmmm... I may be too superstitious to answer ...
Calvino Rabeni: What occurred to me is - I had a fear of (foreign) travel. A friend of mine was hitchhiking on tramp steamers to Africa, visiting Lebanon - I stayed home
Calvino Rabeni: Would have liked to go to Beirut
Eliza Madrigal: I can think of things but they all seem theoretical
Calvino Rabeni: or a lot of places that just seem more stressed and dangerous now
Eliza Madrigal: Ah, wow... yes amazing opportunities and adventures
stevenaia Michinaga: we have far too much ability to enjoy wasting it our youth
Calvino Rabeni: Or a year in Europe as a student or something
Calvino Rabeni: I did travel later, but that's one thing I'd trade
Paradise Tennant: smiles at Cal same here my brother packed a bag and toured for five years :) all over new guinea .. India ..Tibet... when it was still Tibet ! -  I stayed home :)
Calvino Rabeni: Wish I'd had the experience younger
Bleu Oleander: would have taken education more seriously, but am doing it now so maybe it turned out OK

Paradise Tennant: really liked the energizer bunny part the springiness .. I'd  like that back but back then I was very sensitive to what other people thought -   now .. pretty much not :)
Calvino Rabeni: A similar question ... if you could travel back in time and secretly influence your younger self, what would you do?

Calvino Rabeni: Time travel to connect knowledge
Eliza Madrigal: I sometimes think we do that actually... can remember times that it felt I peeked in on myself...
Calvino Rabeni: I might try to find my younger self a mentor in the humanities

Eliza Madrigal: there is this older woman who shows up in my dreams now... really like her
