    Blissful Badger: Hi there steve
    stevenaia Michinaga: hiya
    Blissful Badger: Productive day?
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, just had Latkas w/ friends
stevenaia Michinaga: no update on Aphrodite?
Blissful Badger: same old same old
    Blissful Badger: yum
    stevenaia Michinaga: yes very
Blissful Badger: never made them. They are grated potatoes aren't they?
    stevenaia Michinaga: yes, fried
    Blissful Badger: with a sauce?
stevenaia Michinaga: or cooked in oil
stevenaia Michinaga: apple sauce and sour cream
Blissful Badger: sounds a bit like Ukrainian food
stevenaia Michinaga: probably eastern European in origin
Blissful Badger: good for cold climates!
    stevenaia Michinaga: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Potato_pancake
    Blissful Badger: thanks! :-)
stevenaia Michinaga: mine looks like the bottom photo :)
    Blissful Badger: the bottom, photo?
stevenaia Michinaga: bottom photo on the wiki page
Blissful Badger: oh on the web site. :-)
    stevenaia Michinaga: nods
Blissful Badger: can we talk for a bit about the space project. I'm a little unclear what we are doing
stevenaia Michinaga: that was my next topic
    stevenaia Michinaga: here or IM?
    Blissful Badger: goody
Blissful Badger: here until someone arrives. I can edit it out of the blog
stevenaia Michinaga: I know Sophia brought it up initially
Blissful Badger: It was all a bit vague to me
stevenaia Michinaga: Eos had a thought we meet at the tavern right before, but this is fine, you have been to theme sessions before , right?
Blissful Badger: No, I don't think so. You mean the regular ones like the dream sesions?
Blissful Badger: Do we present a proposal?
stevenaia Michinaga: I haven't been to a Dream session, but they way they have worked before, is we, you me and Sophia begin with a dialogue, or Q&A about the topic
Blissful Badger: and then facilitate the following discussion?
stevenaia Michinaga: setting it up for follow up questions by anyone else who may be there later, after say 20 minutes
Blissful Badger: Perhaps we need to be a bit more specific on the topic
Blissful Badger: like space in SL
stevenaia Michinaga: I have done topical session with others here about space
Blissful Badger: or outer space in SL
    Blissful Badger: or personal space
stevenaia Michinaga: I will try to bring focus to it  since I can only relate my thoughts on Space
stevenaia Michinaga: My topic will be more towards RL space
    Blissful Badger: to what?
    stevenaia Michinaga: what it is
stevenaia Michinaga: how is it defined
Blissful Badger: Oh and RL space as outer space? Inner space?
    stevenaia Michinaga: what makes space
stevenaia Michinaga: when does it exist and overall it's impacts on "us"
stevenaia Michinaga: space that lifts us up
stevenaia Michinaga: space that is recogizable
Blissful Badger: I have such a hard time with big broad topics. My failing I guess
stevenaia Michinaga: not at all, it is a go thing
Blissful Badger: I need for things to get clearly defined or I'll be swimming in a muddy soup
stevenaia Michinaga: I know how to generate questions, not to have all the answers
Blissful Badger: so you will ask a set of questions? That's an excellent start.
stevenaia Michinaga: I think Lucinda's box is a great example of what I am talking about
    Blissful Badger: Luci's box??
stevenaia Michinaga: I will start with what my thoughts are on space, you will follow up with any of yur thoughts and questions
stevenaia Michinaga: the box by the dome (more space) with the star/universe enclosure
Blissful Badger: so it will be a form of dialogue with no particular purpose in mind
Blissful Badger: That box is very much about outer space, don't you think?

stevenaia Michinaga: well the purpose would be to .... have a thematic discussion on Space
stevenaia Michinaga: it can be elusive
Blissful Badger: what would the theme be?
stevenaia Michinaga: it soes not really exist except in terms of its definition by something other than space
    stevenaia Michinaga: does
Blissful Badger: I think more in terms of atomic space. hat there is in fact more space than solids
    Blissful Badger: in the universe
Blissful Badger: inside us and out there
stevenaia Michinaga: perhaps it can be related to "Boundaries" that will be discussed on Monday at Hana's session
    Blissful Badger: Boundaries?
    stevenaia Michinaga: nods
    Blissful Badger: defining spaces
stevenaia Michinaga: what is space but that which is defined by boundries
Blissful Badger: separating space from space
    stevenaia Michinaga: nods
    Blissful Badger: scale
stevenaia Michinaga: or how can you have boundaries w/o space it defines
stevenaia Michinaga: a boundary without space is not a boundary
stevenaia Michinaga: space without a boundary is not space
    stevenaia Michinaga: hello Cal
Calvino Rabeni: Good evening Blissful and Stevenaia
Blissful Badger: Hi Calvino. Good to see you
    Calvino Rabeni: Whats happening :)
Blissful Badger: How is the talking stick going? I mentioned it to the group today
stevenaia Michinaga: we're just prepping out Theme session for Wednesday
Calvino Rabeni: Oh, which group was that?
Blissful Badger: Space - a rather broad subject
stevenaia Michinaga: There is a Playing with Space theme
stevenaia Michinaga: on Wednesday at 19:00
Blissful Badger: when our brains are fuzzy
stevenaia Michinaga: Bliss, Me and Sophia Host
Blissful Badger: and maybe arabella who I think expressed an interest. She's in Manchester right now
Blissful Badger: A big topic for a short meeting
    Calvino Rabeni: The Final Frontier
Blissful Badger: Any suggestions about addressing the subject of space?
    Blissful Badger: Haha Cal
Blissful Badger: Beam me up scotty
stevenaia Michinaga: we will entertain all comers
Blissful Badger: we will make space for all of them
Calvino Rabeni: You must already have ideas about it ?
    stevenaia Michinaga: Puns of space
    Blissful Badger: Too many
stevenaia Michinaga: we may have too many
    stevenaia Michinaga: hehe
Calvino Rabeni: As in - suppose I'm an interviewer - "Tell me Ms Badger, what interests you in the topic of Space" ?
Blissful Badger: I thinkwe should start with a few subject areas and then expand from there
Blissful Badger: Or. tell me ms badger, do you believe that space exists?
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, a good begining
Blissful Badger: Is space divided? Is there more space than solid in the universe?
Calvino Rabeni: Astrophysics and mathematics then?
Blissful Badger: well - that's where my mind goes to. Others may want to talk abot interior and exterior space
Blissful Badger: Is there space in our bodies? Is there space in a vacuum?
stevenaia Michinaga: is there space w/o boundries?
Calvino Rabeni: Or is it an abstract metaphor - for a "parameter space"
Blissful Badger: or the need for more social space...
    stevenaia Michinaga: :)
stevenaia Michinaga: oops, we just missed sophia sharon
Blissful Badger: Oh too bad.  Is there space in SL?
Blissful Badger: I would like to talk abot space in relation to something else
stevenaia Michinaga: is there space in this playgota
Blissful Badger: Does our being occupy space?
    stevenaia Michinaga: or...displace it
Blissful Badger: Yes. these are more interesting question. They're Koans

Calvino Rabeni: It's defined by freedom to move, which has some "hidden variables" - who or what is moving, in what, where to, and to what ends?
Blissful Badger: Is there space needed for thought
stevenaia Michinaga: I like the idea of each of us chosing an aspect of space... and going on from there
Blissful Badger: yes. me too. We just need to decide who is doing what and give each of us a time line
    stevenaia Michinaga: lost in space
stevenaia Michinaga: maybe mix them up, relate them.. or not
Calvino Rabeni: Have you ever noticed when there is too much space, it is inhibiting? (or is that true)?
    Blissful Badger: Yes cal
Blissful Badger: sometimes space can be intimidating
Blissful Badger: just like a boundary or barrier
stevenaia Michinaga: or some space can move you
Blissful Badger: Perhaps it's the quality of the space
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, maybe qualities of space
stevenaia Michinaga: space can be purposfully depressiong
Calvino Rabeni: A friend said recently - "lately there's a lot of space between my fiance and me" ... so he was asked - you mean an open feeling, or a feeling of distance and remoteness?
    Blissful Badger: yes
stevenaia Michinaga: interesting aspect of space Cal, emotional Space
stevenaia Michinaga: the discussion may just be showing aspects of space we each can see for themselves
Blissful Badger: But it does involve physical space
    Blissful Badger: they are connected
Blissful Badger: different values given to the same states
stevenaia Michinaga: like showing someone a color pallete, everyone can leave and make use of it
Calvino Rabeni: Then there's claustrophobia, and agoraphobia ....
stevenaia Michinaga: but all of thse spaces require definition.. boundaries
Blissful Badger: yes. "definition" is a good word. defined space
Calvino Rabeni: And don't shapes speak of space also ? Like if someone says an idea is one-sided, or two-dimensional (meaning flat)
stevenaia Michinaga: then we open the discussion up for whoever attends and see where their thoughts take us
Calvino Rabeni: Or if someone's feeling or expression is "flat", what space is that referring to?
Blissful Badger: yes. the inner and outer.
stevenaia Michinaga: is that space or something metaphorically physical?
    stevenaia Michinaga: (expressions or ideas)
Blissful Badger: The word has been used in many ways. Maybe we start with a definition?
Calvino Rabeni: If it is metaphoric, doesn't that reference some real space?
    Blissful Badger: yes.
    Blissful Badger: Platonic stuff this
    stevenaia Michinaga: :)
Calvino Rabeni: So what is the spatial information in the idiom "back off!" or "settle down" or "rise up!"
stevenaia Michinaga: movement... which also relates to time
Blissful Badger: The need for more space/time/ openness
    Blissful Badger: fewer restrictions, boundaries
stevenaia Michinaga: interesting how at some point, loss of boundries (openness)no longer definds space
Blissful Badger: That is a beautifl necklace Cal. Did you make it?
stevenaia Michinaga: Interesting in tai chi there is much definign space with your hands, capturing Qui (CHi)
Blissful Badger: For me space is tied in with all my senses: space to feel and move, space to hear silence, space without obstrusive smells

    stevenaia Michinaga: yes
Blissful Badger: clear, clean untrammelled space
Blissful Badger: space to stretch - physically, emotionally, intellectually
Blissful Badger: these chats and those 90 second breaks giveus space to pause and think
    stevenaia Michinaga: visually
    Blissful Badger: visually?
stevenaia Michinaga: space to think, visual-less space
    Blissful Badger: modernist space?
stevenaia Michinaga: space you do not need your eyes to appreciate
Blissful Badger: unsullied by history - a balnk page

    Blissful Badger: un interrupted
    Blissful Badger: words words words
    Blissful Badger: fill up space
    stevenaia Michinaga: boundless space.... hmmm
stevenaia Michinaga: seems space can be bounded and boundless, so many aspects
Blissful Badger: personal space - that's what I want to talk about. It's loaded with connections
    Blissful Badger: personal/physical/spiritual
Calvino Rabeni: embodied, pushy, me-centric, in-your-face space
    stevenaia Michinaga: cuddle space
Blissful Badger: Sometimes space (and time)seem so short (like his past hour at the fountain)
    stevenaia Michinaga: short space?
Blissful Badger: cuddle space. :-) only with those you want to cuddle
    Blissful Badger: space race
Blissful Badger: I need a new keyboard. That's my excuse (for bad typing)

stevenaia Michinaga: I''ll have to try that, next laptop
    Blissful Badger: :-)
Blissful Badger: How do you clean your keyboard?!?
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, but it doesn't seem to have an affect on my typing
Blissful Badger: Yes, but it's a handy excuse
stevenaia Michinaga: damp towel with a toothpic to remove cat hair between the keys
Blissful Badger: OK so tomorrow (after the  8AM meeting) we'll ask our group to stay afterwards and agree on what we'll all do
Blissful Badger: Who will introduce the topic? You steve?
stevenaia Michinaga: sounds like a start, sure, happy too
Blissful Badger: Great. We can practice betweeen Sunday and Wednesday
stevenaia Michinaga: smiles, the hours usually go fast, like this one
Blissful Badger: Wednesday at 7 Cal. Hope you can make it
Blissful Badger: OK It's time for me to head home.
    stevenaia Michinaga: by Bliss
    Calvino Rabeni: Is that PM?
stevenaia Michinaga: hope Aprodite can join us on Wednesday
Blissful Badger: Me too but I'm not holding up any hope
Blissful Badger: Wonderful talking with you both. Yes Cal
    stevenaia Michinaga: yes, Cal, PM
stevenaia Michinaga: what's with the fish? (Blissful is carrying a fish)
Blissful Badger: Got to go and cook a fish
    stevenaia Michinaga: awww, dinner
Blissful Badger: fish. My codpice. he he
    stevenaia Michinaga: lol
Calvino Rabeni: Thanks, Bliss and Steve, I shall fly hither to spaces unknown
Blissful Badger: Bye sorry I interrupted the 90 seconds
Blissful Badger: Have fun in hither. I'm going to thither
    Blissful Badger: :-)
    Blissful Badger: Bye steve
    stevenaia Michinaga: bye Blissful
