    Bleu Oleander: hi Eden :)
    Eden Haiku: Good morning Bleu!
Bleu Oleander: such a great skater you are!
Eden Haiku: A week later, I'm still twirling :)
Bleu Oleander: did you have a nice Christmas?
    Bleu Oleander: hey Yaku
Yakuzza Lethecus: hey the two of you
Eden Haiku: Yes, it was great. How was yours?
Yakuzza Lethecus: i hope your both christmas has been great
    Eden Haiku: Hello Yaku
Bleu Oleander: very nice day .... warm and sunny
Yakuzza Lethecus: i liked ur picture eden! very colorful and stylish room you have there :)
Bleu Oleander: cold everywhere else probably
Eden Haiku: Here, too, a bit cold but good weather, easy for people to travel.
    Eden Haiku: Thanks Yaku:)
Bleu Oleander: so much snow back east
Bleu Oleander: eastern us that is
Eden Haiku: We are having 20 guests for Three Kings day on Sunday brunch, it will be fun but a lot of preps.
Bleu Oleander: wow a lot of work, but fun!
Eden Haiku: Yes, so sad when people are stranded in airports
Eden Haiku: How was your Christmas Yaku?
Yakuzza Lethecus: Pretty well, i had 4 christmas dinners :)
Yakuzza Lethecus: well 2 lunches 2 dinners
    Bleu Oleander: nice Yaku!
Eden Haiku: Wonderful, at Dad's, at Mom's and so on I suppose?
Yakuzza Lethecus: but 3 different places
    Yakuzza Lethecus: yes, an aunt's
Yakuzza Lethecus: another was simply to finish off the left overs
Bleu Oleander: sometimes left overs are the best!
Eden Haiku: That's always fun too ;)
Yakuzza Lethecus: yes, then it's not as formal
Yakuzza Lethecus: so you can let urself let go a little bit mroe
Eden Haiku: I'm going to see my nieces and nephew in their jammies, many are traveling from far away and sleeping over :)
    Bleu Oleander: sounds fun Eden
Yakuzza Lethecus: to stranding at airports, at christmas eve 30k ppl were stranded in paris at charles de gaule
Eden Haiku: My mother used to insist they all sleep over...
Eden Haiku: Oh my God, no foie gras, no champagne for them I suppose…

Making meaning vs looking for meaning

Bleu Oleander: heard a very interesting podcast this morning on "meaning"
Bleu Oleander: making meaning vs looking for meaning
    Eden Haiku: Meaning. Hummm
Eden Haiku: How interesting, "making meaning"
Eden Haiku: What would it be compared to looking for meaning?
    Bleu Oleander: great perspective
Bleu Oleander: a switch from how we've been thinking about meaning
Eden Haiku: Thanks Bleu. I will download it after the session. Sounds interesting.
    Eden Haiku: Can you summarize?
Bleu Oleander: what do you think about meaning?
Eden Haiku: My feeling is that it is everywhere, in tiny little things. IT's a way of looking at things.

    --BELL--

    Bleu Oleander: yes
Eden Haiku: What do you think about meaning Yaku?
Bleu Oleander: instead of "looking for meaning" he says: That is, it's time to make decisions on a daily basis about where we want to invest ourselves, and how we want to spend our time, and how we want to represent ourselves, and to take a more active, and proactive, and instrumental look at living.
Bleu Oleander: meaning is not something we find, it's something we create.
Yakuzza Lethecus: meaning, actually i was looking into the page about obsessions
    Bleu Oleander: very empowering
Yakuzza Lethecus: and i thought about positive and negative stress
Eden Haiku: And know that our life has meaning, every choice we make, every step we take?
Bleu Oleander: the part on positive obsessions is interesting too
Eden Haiku: An empowering thought indeed :)
Yakuzza Lethecus: i thought about the aspect that stress and obsession both imply something negative for me and simply to stay that something negative is postive isn't helpful
Yakuzza Lethecus: but i know what ppl mean with it
Yakuzza Lethecus: i simply wouldn't use positive stress or obsession as a word
Eden Haiku: Every year, I list 100 of my accomplishments in the year past between Christmas and New Year.
Eden Haiku: And then on New Year, I choose one (and only one) resolution for the next one.
Eden Haiku: It gives my upcoming year some frame of meaning.
    Bleu Oleander: nice idea Eden
Eden Haiku: A few others played that game with me last year. This year, Eliza started early.
Bleu Oleander: I think by positive obsession he means that one has to find depth in an area of passion to be creative
Eden Haiku: She inspired me to do so do but I'm still only at mid-way.
Bleu Oleander: 100 is a lot
Bleu Oleander: I would be happy with a few accomplishments in a year
Yakuzza Lethecus: maybe that forces us to remember the little ones :)
Eden Haiku: She cheated a bit she say, counting all the Time reports and WOK reports...:))
    Bleu Oleander: yes, exactly Yaku
Bleu Oleander: an accomplishment each .... just getting through it
    Bleu Oleander: each day
    Bleu Oleander: so there's 365
Eden Haiku: Yes, the point is to remember these little minute accomplishments that go unnoticed but that can change our life tremendously.
Bleu Oleander: in concept, each day is an opportunity to accomplish something right?
Eden Haiku: MY resolution of last year was to "Travel light of heart",
Bleu Oleander: what does that mean Eden?
Eden Haiku: It's still a work in process but I took giant steps.
    Eden Haiku: To travel light
    Bleu Oleander: carry-on luggage?
Eden Haiku: As in carrying only a carry-on, yes, in emotional terms.
Eden Haiku: It requires a lot of sorting out...
Bleu Oleander: can you talk more?
    Eden Haiku: Hum...
Bleu Oleander: how do you make a conscious effort to do that?
Eden Haiku: With an excellent therapist and then in daily awareness
    Bleu Oleander: living more mindfully?
Eden Haiku: It takes a lot of energy to face things, to go to the core of things.
Bleu Oleander: we are meeting with an excellent person on that subject when we take our group to LA this spring
Eden Haiku: And then to let go
    Bleu Oleander: Dan Siegel
    Eden Haiku: Dan Siegel…
Bleu Oleander: his book "the Mindful Brain" is great
Eden Haiku: Oh, great. Along the lines of "The Buddha's Brain" maybe?
Yakuzza Lethecus: i always wonder about the externalization of learning "lightness"
Bleu Oleander: didn't read that, but sounds possible
    Eden Haiku: Taking notes :))
Bleu Oleander: what is the externalization of learning?

    --BELL--

Bleu Oleander: http://www.upaya.org/dharma/tag/dan-siegel/ (interesting workshop Siegel did that's on line) http://drdansiegel.com/
Eden Haiku: Not sure if you  "learn" lightness Yaku, I think you just unload too heavy luggage :)
    Eden Haiku: Oh thanks Bleu.
Bleu Oleander: I think you can learn mindfulness
Yakuzza Lethecus: well the difference of "sitting put" and "really learning" is a big subject for me
Eden Haiku: Here is the reference to Buddha's Brain; http://www.amazon.ca/Buddhas-Brain-P.../dp/1572246952
Yakuzza Lethecus: i don't multitask because i think i would actually learn 10 things at a time
    Bleu Oleander: ty Eden
Yakuzza Lethecus: i multitask because i am very likely to get stuck and have the feeling to enforce and nurture me stuckness
Eden Haiku: It might be an excellent way for you to learn Yaku, yes. It's natural for you it seems.
Yakuzza Lethecus: i often have the feeling that i am more mindfull when i multitask and play even with my new mindfulness bell that i just installed on my ipod
Bleu Oleander: studies now are showing multitasking is not a great way to accomplish anything .... the brain is not that good at doing more than a few things at a time
Yakuzza Lethecus: and see a new subject in the chat and that subject is really "fresh" for me that moment
Eden Haiku: I don't multitask the way you do but I travel many paths at the same time.
Yakuzza Lethecus: then comes for me the question what "they" mean with multitasking, i would like to be more mindful and more kind
Eden Haiku: While traveling in India last winter, I realized traveling both deep South and up North doesn't make it easy to travel light. :)
Yakuzza Lethecus: i would like to travel lighter
Eden Haiku: Better go only one direction and carry one kind of clothes :)
Eden Haiku: So focus might help to travel light of heart :)
Eden Haiku: But focus makes me bored very easily.
    Bleu Oleander: hey Eliza
Eden Haiku: Good morning Eliza :))
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hey eliza
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Eden, Bleu, Ya, Ob :)
Eden Haiku: We have been talking about meaning and accomplishments and focus.
Eliza Madrigal: Eden, you look delightful :)
Yakuzza Lethecus: well, focus doesn't make me bored when i see the subject clearly and changing
Bleu Oleander: good discussion of boredom and creativity in that podcast too Eden
Yakuzza Lethecus: but when i barely see it and am scared to do it right
Yakuzza Lethecus: and this fear of not doing it right burns in
Yakuzza Lethecus: i am scared of this kind of burn in affect a lot
    Yakuzza Lethecus: effect
Eden Haiku: Thanks Eliza. Was giving you a note of our discussion,
Eliza Madrigal: thank you both bleu and eden :)

    The creative process

Bleu Oleander: the thought that not doing something right is part of the creative process
Eden Haiku: IT always takes me forever to create notes, that's one of your accomplishments Eliza: the fastest notecard writer!!!
Eden Haiku: Yes, we learn from our mistakes.
Eliza Madrigal: hehe... /me imagines headstone...
Eden Haiku: And some new patterns emerge from projects that went wrong...
Bleu Oleander: so for example I have lots of days when in the process of creating say a painting I paint over the whole thing
Bleu Oleander: but realizing that this too is part of the creative process is helpful
Bleu Oleander: do you find that too Eden?
Eden Haiku: Yes, it is, I know what you mean Bleu.
Eden Haiku: My actual novel is in a very strange phase actually...

    --BELL--

Eliza Madrigal: I love this topic... personal responsibility really.. appreciate the note
Eden Haiku: Lots of ideas crashed on me during the pause Bleu...wow!
Bleu Oleander: yes, taking responsibility for meaning
    Eliza Madrigal: hmmmmmm
    Bleu Oleander: what ideas Eden?
Eden Haiku: Hope you don't mind I told about you listing the accomplishments already... such an inspiration!
    Bleu Oleander: great idea
Eden Haiku: Let's see... What you said about all the painting over as being part of the creative process...
Eliza Madrigal: not at all... brings me back to that place of focus... my 'resolution/intention' is forming still :)
    Eliza Madrigal listens
Eden Haiku: Started thinking about my actual process in my novel.
Eden Haiku: And during the pause I realized I'm dressed as a character in a scene.
Bleu Oleander: we all are in some ways :)
Eden Haiku: I had no idea before now that I was dressed as her.
    Eliza Madrigal: :)))
Eden Haiku: Let me tell you the scene maybe?
Eliza Madrigal: How wonderful, she is speaking to you through you
Bleu Oleander: your character is like an avatar
Eden Haiku: I even have the script which she does in the novel.
Bleu Oleander: you have become her
Eden Haiku: Which is based on something that happened to me years ago.
Eden Haiku: When I met my best friend who is now deceased. So sad. She died at 40.
    Bleu Oleander: oh sorry Eden

    One of the narrative fractals

Eden Haiku: So, it's in a village up north.
Eden Haiku: Two girls skating on an ice rink.
    Eliza Madrigal smiles
Eden Haiku: On a very cold night.
Eden Haiku: One is wearing a velvet green long dress, the other one is in pink, with a kind of fur hat like the one I have.
    Bleu Oleander: lovely twirls
Eden Haiku: The youngest one is twirling and twirling
Eliza Madrigal is absorbed in the description
    Eden Haiku: Like this
Yakuzza Lethecus: btw. will there be a new years eve party this year ?
Eden Haiku: She's 15, blond with blue eyes, adorable.
    Eliza Madrigal: wow :))
Eden Haiku: A local little boy skates towards them, holds on the skirt of the one with the fur hat .
Eden Haiku: Looks up to her and says: 'Where are you from?:
Eden Haiku: He could tell these girls weren't from his small village very far away
Eden Haiku: And my friend Jackie pointed up at the stars and said: "From there!" And then she twirled away!
Eliza Madrigal: what dreamy imagery Eden...
Eliza Madrigal: thank you for sharing that little window with us :)
    Bleu Oleander: lovely Eden
Eden Haiku: I had just met her at this youth hostel and we just exchanged our dresses. She was 15, I was 28 .
Eden Haiku: But from that moment on we have been best friends.
Eden Haiku: She had dropped out of school when she was 13 but she thought me so many things.
Bleu Oleander: so that story is the inspiration for your novel?
Eden Haiku: She was so alive and very much like my mother in a way.
Eden Haiku: Only one of the "narrative fractals" Bleu. There are many.
Eliza Madrigal: it seems a 'crucial' friendship...
Eliza Madrigal: and it is a gift to recognize 'alive' in others
Bleu Oleander: "narrative fractals" .... nice phrase
Eden Haiku: She and my mother are two important inspiration for the book yes.

    --BELL--

    A women's lineage

Bleu Oleander: thanks Eden and everyone .... have to go .... have a very creative day!
Eliza Madrigal: Was/Is it your mother who woke up your spark, Eden?
Eden Haiku: Thank you Bleu, you too!
    Bleu Oleander: bye for now
    Yakuzza Lethecus: take care bleu
Eden Haiku: Yes Eliza, she was!
Eliza Madrigal: Bye Bleu :) Nice to see you
Eliza Madrigal: beautiful Eden... I can feel that
Eden Haiku: She noticed I liked writing and gave me a notebook to write all my secrets in when I was 11.
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eden Haiku: I was so impressed she thought I could have any secret!
Eden Haiku: I felt very very important!
Eden Haiku: I filled the notebook very fast then I kept writing...
Eliza Madrigal: wow, I love her
Eden Haiku: I miss her so these days.,..
Eden Haiku: Gave my Dad an e-frame with pictures I downloaded. Many of my Mom. We both cried.
Eliza Madrigal: ooooh, yes I read your tweet that it took all night... what labor of love
Eden Haiku: But my godmother is coming to our party. Her sister. Same looks, same energy. It will be a comfort ;)
Eden Haiku: Love my godmother very much.
Eliza Madrigal: a kind of twin?
Eden Haiku: What about you Eliza, what prompted you to write?
    Eliza Madrigal: hiding :)
Eden Haiku: Ah! That's a good one!
Eden Haiku: About the tweet, I meant it took all "evening", I often confuse the words...
Eliza Madrigal: when you talk about your connection with family and a women's lineage...
Eliza Madrigal: it is deeply inspiring... I can feel a sense of continuity
    Eden Haiku: Yes?
    Eliza Madrigal: beyond the relative
Eden Haiku: I think you have something like that deep bond with your own daughter Eliza?
Eliza Madrigal: with the three in different sorts of ways...
Eliza Madrigal: and my great-grandmother, though I realize I've made her up in some ways too
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eden Haiku: May I make you two listen to something very inspiring?
    Eliza Madrigal: YES
Eden Haiku: Clarissa Pinkola Estes voice! Just very briefly...
Eliza Madrigal: oh, nice... love her
Eden Haiku: Talking about the wild side

    --BELL--

Eden Haiku: Thanks for listening. Just a sample. A great voice isn't she?
Eliza Madrigal: let me know when you begin so I know if I can't hear... think it should be okay though
Eden Haiku: Oh, I did play it already...
Yakuzza Lethecus: eden played her voice already
Eliza Madrigal: oh, I didn't hear...
    Yakuzza Lethecus: :)
    Yakuzza Lethecus: yes
Eden Haiku: Did you hear it Yaku?
Yakuzza Lethecus: yes, i am only not sure if i really understood the meaning of everything
Eden Haiku: Want me to try with another short sample Eliza?
    Eliza Madrigal: :(
Eliza Madrigal: let me click a few things and then yes please
Eden Haiku: It was out of context a bit Yaku. What Eliza said about women's lineage. I can play the same sample again yes Eliza.
Eliza Madrigal: hm, I don't want to take much time but maybe I can sign off and on?
Yakuzza Lethecus: i will go to dinner, take care both of you and i hope we will see each other before new year
Eden Haiku: Yes, no prob for me :)
Yakuzza Lethecus: otherwise i wish you both a good start of the new one!
Eden Haiku: Take care Yaku. Always a pleasure to see you :))
Eliza Madrigal: Bye Ya, and thank you eden, brb
Eden Haiku: happy new year dear!
    Eliza Madrigal: hm....
    Eden Haiku: Ready?
Eliza Madrigal: when I click I see no active speakers...
Eliza Madrigal: I've never had this problem before
Eden Haiku: Ah no, you are not showing,,,
    Eliza Madrigal: grrr
    Eden Haiku: grr ...
Eden Haiku: It happens to me too sometimes...
    Eden Haiku: For no reason...
Eden Haiku: Maybe wait a bit? I see only your shoes and hair
Eden Haiku: Just missed the picture!
Eliza Madrigal: Another day perhaps, sigh. I do like her though... and you are an interesting and dynamic mix of bold and kind and ferocious and sweet...
Eliza Madrigal: like one would see if they read the figures in her 'women who run with the wolves' book
Eden Haiku: Yes, been working on my wild woman for years :) But still very domesticated...
Eliza Madrigal: :) women sometimes need permission and encouragement
Eliza Madrigal: even if from just themselves
Eden Haiku: Yes, Your Lila is a wild woman as in "running with wolves" isn't she?
Eliza Madrigal: she thinks about it
Eden Haiku: Oh here you are on active speaker!
Eliza Madrigal: there it is! yay
    Eden Haiku: Can you hear?
    Eliza Madrigal: YES
Eliza Madrigal: I don't have my headset or I'd respond in voice... but happy to appear now
Eden Haiku: Can you hear Clarissa?
    Eden Haiku: HI QT!
Eliza Madrigal: yes, some of it is a bit unclear... but she is discussing sensual and creative one who does everything a"wrong" and "pretty right"

Looking up at the night sky with a non observant astronomer

    Qt Core: Hi!
Eliza Madrigal: I love that your avatar is speaking as she does... as though you are speaking her... "who" is she speaking of Eden?
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Qt!
Eliza Madrigal: that part I couldn't hear
    Qt Core: hi
Eliza Madrigal: Eden has played a little of Clarissa Pinkcola Estes for me...
Eliza Madrigal: her voice is nice, comfortable sounding ...
Eden Haiku: Stopped it now because we aren't supposed to be in voice. And I was playing through speakers, I guess the quality is not as clear as directly from computer.
Qt Core: nica, sadly it seems i have some problems with voice lately ;-)
    Qt Core: :-(
Eliza Madrigal: I heard much of her...
Eden Haiku: Yes, I love her voice :) How was your Christmas Qt?
Eliza Madrigal: and yes me too qt
Qt Core: thanking god... quiet ;-)

    --BELL--

    Qt Core: yours ?
Eden Haiku: Good, thanks. We had my Dad over on Christmas eve and then went out at my friend's family on Christmas day.
Eden Haiku: Saw an incredible Bengal cat, just like a little leopard!
    Eliza Madrigal: ooooo
Eden Haiku: My sister-in-law new cat :)
Eden Haiku: Oh my God, was talking on the bell the whole time, sorry!
Qt Core: :) hoping she has enough space for a cat like that
Eliza Madrigal: sounds like such a lovely time with family Eden
Eden Haiku: Well they live in a small house and have 3 dogs, 3 cats and a parrot. A bit too much I think :)
Qt Core: probably the parrot won't last long ;-)
Eliza Madrigal: I spent much of the last four days in bed, but managed to enjoy Christmas dinner with my daughter's new boyfriend... SUCH a good sport. I bought he and she Barry Manilow tickets... ::::roars::::::
Eden Haiku: We just stopped to wish Merry Christmas and then went at my mother-in-law's.
Eden Haiku: Oh, Eliza, it was pretty intense, sorry to hear you had been so sick. Are you recovering now?
Eliza Madrigal: I feel like I've been hit with all sorts of things in the last few months... so not quite sure... but this was sort of planned... dental surgery...just that recovery took longer than I thought
Eden Haiku: You're happy with your daughter's boyfriend, that's wonderful!
    Eliza Madrigal: YES
Eliza Madrigal: he is fantastic... very sensitive and meditative
Eden Haiku: Dental surgery is the worst... Pooor thing. Hugging you....
Eliza Madrigal: and really pays nice attention to her... came to see the eclipse with her
Eden Haiku: Wow! You must be so happy for her.
Eden Haiku: Did you watch the eclipse Qt?
Eden Haiku: You must have all the telescopes...
Eliza Madrigal: yes, very.. and happy for me too :)
Qt Core: no, a little too early in the morning and cloud all over
Eliza Madrigal: Ohhh yes, Qt... would love to hear
    Eliza Madrigal: Oh :(
Qt Core: me ?no, i'm a non observant astronomer
    Eliza Madrigal: huh? haha
Eden Haiku: Storm sent a very nice picture of it. I didn't even know there was an eclipse...
Qt Core: i prefer astrophysics, even if i'm still an amateur, i like to know what happen, for the pics i prefer using the Hubble ;-)
Eliza Madrigal: so what will happen next, qt?
    Eliza Madrigal leans in
Qt Core: a sun eclipse on the 4/1
Eden Haiku: A non observant astronomer, wow, first time I meet one! Grinning

A PaB Art of Being party at the end of January?

Eliza Madrigal: oh the pab aniversary!?!
    Eden Haiku: Oh yes!
Qt Core: 4 jan, sorry, i use european date format ;-)
Eliza Madrigal: we must make that mean something
    Eliza Madrigal: Oh, darn
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eden Haiku: Will the sun eclipse be visible from North America Qt?
Eden Haiku: Did anyone answer Yaku question about a New year party?
Eliza Madrigal: hmm... I started to but basically the answer is, if we plan one
Eden Haiku: Maybe we will have one at the end of January with Art of Being project?
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: I like that idea better...
Qt Core: no, europe, northern africa and some asia
Eliza Madrigal: jan 1 comes too soon
Eden Haiku: That would give us a bit of time to prepare,...
Eliza Madrigal: but after New Orleans....
    Eden Haiku: It does!
Eden Haiku: Oh yes, New Orleans is in January right...
Eliza Madrigal: how often do solar eclipses happen?
Qt Core: there must be one every four years at minimum if i remember it right
Eden Haiku: Starting to think of RL and all I need to do today. I'm cooking but I have errands first.
Qt Core: but usually more, considering all the earth surface and every "size" of them
    Eliza Madrigal: ah
Eliza Madrigal: bye Eden, sorry to arrive late and thank you for lingering with me, have missed you
Qt Core: bye Eden, have fun
Eden Haiku: Please excuse me, I better go now. Have a very Happy New Year both of you!!!
Eliza Madrigal: Have a lovely New Year Eden
Eliza Madrigal: I watched a show recently about the astronomer working with Einstein trying to catch eclipses
    Qt Core: Eddington ?
Eliza Madrigal: really felt for the guy
    Eliza Madrigal: No...hm... started with a C...
Qt Core: sun eclipses is a risky business, you can't really choose the place or the time, and then just a little cloud can ruin everything

    --BELL--

Eliza Madrigal: yes that's how it seemed... he was really out on a limb and kept being prevented from clear views...
Eliza Madrigal: but in the end his delays worked for the benefit
    Eliza Madrigal: conducive obstacles :)
Eliza Madrigal: I'd better go too actually... still not quite feeling well and have work next to me yelling "look at me look at me"
Eliza Madrigal: but it was nice to see you for a bit qt
Qt Core: ;-) attention seeking work...
    Eliza Madrigal: hehe
Qt Core: nice to see you too,
Eliza Madrigal: I keep asking it to do itself...
Eliza Madrigal: but it says there is no fun in that
Eliza Madrigal: I beg to differ
Qt Core: so it want to share the pain
Eliza Madrigal: hehe, yes... I should have compassion for it...
Eliza Madrigal: embrace it for a while
Qt Core: or the fun ;-)
Eliza Madrigal: :) Bye for now qt, hope to see you again soon...
    Qt Core: bye
