    In the mood for Christmas

    Bleu Oleander: hi Eden :)
Eden Haiku: Hey Bleu. I was wondering if you were a cube now :)
    Bleu Oleander: ha ha :)
    Eden Haiku: I am a skater :)
    Bleu Oleander: steve's cube
Eden Haiku: Not his avatar ...
Bleu Oleander: just a cube I think
Eden Haiku: Yes, it seems so. Though we never know these days.
    Bleu Oleander: :)
Eden Haiku: Oh my God. My dream just came back to me...
    Eden Haiku: Woke up late.
Bleu Oleander: love your skating look :)
    Eden Haiku: Thank you :)
Eden Haiku: There is a fir tree in the living, I'm feeling dryads dancing around me.
Eden Haiku: I always like it when it's not decorated yet. Like a real tree from the forest sitting in our home.
    Bleu Oleander: yes, nice
Eden Haiku: My brother is coming home today. Haven't seen him for more than a year now.
    Bleu Oleander: oh how nice
Eden Haiku: We keep in touch through pictures and phone, but it will be nice to see him in person today.
Bleu Oleander: I miss seeing my family this season
Eden Haiku: And then his whole family next week.
    Eden Haiku: Hi Crusty.
    Crusty Goldshark: hi guys
    Bleu Oleander: hi Crusty
Eden Haiku: Is your family still in New York Bleu?
Bleu Oleander: yes, NY and NJ
    Eden Haiku: Far away...
Eden Haiku: My brother lives in Newfoundland, he was around here twice but I wasn't...
Eden Haiku: How are your Christmas preps doing Crusty?
Crusty Goldshark: I have a second life hat - is there more I should be doing?
    Eden Haiku: Plum pudding?
    Bleu Oleander: ha!
Crusty Goldshark: Yes we have an award winning pudding - not plum which I prefer . . . You?
Eden Haiku: I'm reading last novel by Michel Houellebecq, the famous French writer who finally won the Goncourt prize.
Eden Haiku: Not sure I even ate real plum pudding, difficult to say Crusty...
Crusty Goldshark: Between twitter and email Novel reading is rather a Novel idea for me . . .
Eden Haiku: The main character is a contemporary artist who claims to read only Agatha Christie novels.
    Crusty Goldshark: OK

    --BELL--

    Snowbound

Eden Haiku: It came back to me suddenly as we were talking about plum puddings.
    Yakuzza Lethecus: good morning everyone
    Bleu Oleander: hi Yaku :)
    Crusty Goldshark: :) hi
    Eden Haiku: ;)
Eden Haiku: Hi Yaku. I gave you just the smile cause I was trying to respect the silence but it's so difficult to do so when someone comes in, isn't?
Crusty Goldshark: Yes that respecting silence - I should hear a bell or have mist over the fountain - I have neither - so just keep an eye on the time . . .
Eden Haiku: Oh! the chatbox says so tho Crusty...
Crusty Goldshark: not for me it doesn't - maybe I turned something off?
Eden Haiku: The fountain, yes, sure.
Eden Haiku: Oups oups. I was trying to program the mist ...sorry...
Eden Haiku: There is a thin coat of white on every tiny branch this morning, with the sun shining. Beautiful!
    Bleu Oleander: how lovely Eden
Bleu Oleander: it's been so sunny and warm here
Crusty Goldshark: got to feed the troops - be back later . . .
Yakuzza Lethecus: when i arrived at work this morning 2 coworkers weren't there
Eden Haiku: Bye Crusty. Have a nice time!
Eden Haiku: Already hung over from parties maybe?
Yakuzza Lethecus: and i needed more then an hour to get rid of all the snow
    Yakuzza Lethecus: bye crusty
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hey aph :)
    Bleu Oleander: hey Aph :)
Yakuzza Lethecus: you've not been here in a while :)
    Eden Haiku: Good morning Aphrodite!
Aphrodite Macbain: Ah we have a crustacean here. how nice
    Aphrodite Macbain: hello all
Aphrodite Macbain: Bleu - what an amazing headdress
    Bleu Oleander: oh thanks Aph
Eden Haiku: You have so much snow in Europe!
Eden Haiku: Airports in Paris and London have been blocked for hours...
Yakuzza Lethecus: yes, i bet you guys even have more in canada
Yakuzza Lethecus: but it's really a lot
    Aphrodite Macbain: yes - it
Eden Haiku: No, not that much in Montreal at least,
Aphrodite Macbain: 's been snowing for 3 days
    Bleu Oleander: hi Jan
    Aphrodite Macbain: in Ontario
    Aphrodite Macbain: very pretty actually
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hey jan, oberservm
Eden Haiku: There were people trapped in their cars for a whole night in the Great Lakes area last week or so...
Eden Haiku: hello Jan, hello observerm.
    Bleu Oleander: hi observerm
Aphrodite Macbain: yes, someone died of exposure
    Jan Qualia: Hi All
    Aphrodite Macbain: hi jan
    observerm Resident: hello
    Aphrodite Macbain: hi again bruce
    Bleu Oleander: hi Bruce
Eden Haiku: We are having international gatherings about climate every year now are there are still climate skeptics...
Bruce Mowbray: Hi, Aph, and welcome back (again).
    Eden Haiku: Good morning Bruce.
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hey bruce :)
    Jan Qualia: Hi Bruce
Bruce Mowbray: Hello all you winter-weary Europeans -- and Americans, too.

Bruce shows up wearing an antler which will soon start a trend
    Bruce with antlers.jpg

Eden Haiku: Nice antlers Bruce :)
    Bruce Mowbray: ty, Eden.
Aphrodite Macbain: yes - hard to believe that there are still people out there that don't believe that man has contributed to accelerated climate change
    Jan Qualia: and woman
Jan Qualia: maybe it's a natural cycle though
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hey xirana

Bleu dons beautiful antlers with lights. I got the same at a Christmas market and I put mine on too. We start giving copies to others and soon enough, we are sitting in the middle of what Jan will call "The Antler Sect"

Eden Haiku: We went to same Christmas market it seems Bleu...
    Bruce Mowbray: Hi, Xirana.
Xirana Oximoxi: hello Yakuzza and alle:)
    Bleu Oleander: :)

    --BELL--

    Eden Haiku: Hi Xirana.
Aphrodite Macbain: I might just have to go to the same market!
Aphrodite Macbain: Bruce perhaps a couple of Christmas balls hanging from your antlers might be fetchig
    Jan Qualia: ty Eden
    Aphrodite Macbain: Thanks!
Bleu Oleander: how lovely we all look!
    Bleu Oleander: festive :)
Aphrodite Macbain: I jingle everytime I move my head
    Jan Qualia: Hi Xirana
    Aphrodite Macbain: every
    Bleu Oleander: ' << S l e i g h b e l l s J i n g l i n g >>

Being a good sport, Xirana, a newcomer, joins our crazy little sect by wearing the antler lights as we are telling her about Play as Being. And illustrating our quest by running like mad mice on "onigokko" script.

Eden Haiku: I will give you a notecard Xirana but It would be nice if everyone in this circle would give you a description of what Play as Being is, has been for them? Would you like to start Yaku?
Xirana Oximoxi: ok thank you very much :)
Yakuzza Lethecus: Well, for me it's basically a contemplative meltingpoint or that is how i udnerstood it in the past.
Eden Haiku: I would say we are a circle of friends traveling together through time, questioning the nature of reality.
Yakuzza Lethecus: Often it's a just a chat but through the community it becomes a special feeling.
Yakuzza Lethecus: So actually for me the idea of contemplation makes only like 30% of the fascination
Yakuzza Lethecus: 40% community and 30% habituality :)
Eden Haiku: Our practice is simple: we stop every 15 minutes for a 9 seconds "stopping the world" contemplation.
Yakuzza Lethecus: don't get me on those numbers :P
    Aphrodite Macbain: :-)
Bleu Oleander: need to throw in 5% for sillyness Yaku
    Jan Qualia: at least :)
    Yakuzza Lethecus: onigokko
Eden Haiku: And in these meetings here 4 times a day, at 7 am SLT, 1pm SLT, 7 pm SLT and 1am SLT, we stop chatting a bit longer: 90 seconds.
Aphrodite Macbain: I find this is a place where I can connect with some wonderful intelligent souls
    Yakuzza Lethecus: stop
Bleu Oleander: so make that 10%
Aphrodite Macbain: sometimes they can be silly - thank heavens
    Eden Haiku: onigokko
    Yakuzza Lethecus: :)
Jan Qualia: it's going up by the moment :)
    Aphrodite Macbain: onigokko
    Jan Qualia: onigokko
Eden Haiku: This is our "onigokko" practice. We dance like mad mice once in a while. It clears the air...
    Aphrodite Macbain: yahooo!
    Bleu Oleander: ok 20%
    Eden Haiku: stop
Aphrodite Macbain: good for the lungs
    Aphrodite Macbain: stop
    Jan Qualia: stop
    Xirana Oximoxi: nice dance :)))

    After the dance

Aphrodite Macbain: what is this box that sits beside me?
    Bleu Oleander: steve's box
Eden Haiku: Lost my skirt in the adventure... Now to remember the name of thatt eisprinzess skirt...
Eden Haiku: What are your interests Xirana?
Aphrodite Macbain: does steve sit on it?
Xirana Oximoxi: I have quite a lot of interests... but basically literature, music and Art
    =Aphrodite Macbain: Bruce left us
Eden Haiku: Nice Xirana, we often talk about these topics here.
Jan Qualia: how do I make the text bigger in the chat box in Phoenix?
Eden Haiku: Would someone else like to describe Play as Being?
Xirana Oximoxi: nice to know we share interest:)
Eden Haiku: Bruce followed his antlers to some other dimension I would think, yes...
Crusty Goldshark: Play as Being = a meeting of unlike people who are likeable

    --BELL--

    Eden Haiku: Cute :)
Crusty Goldshark: Basically I flew by and have been here off and on since Christmas - if not before
Aphrodite Macbain: I'm off to find a reindeer
    Bleu Oleander: bye Aph
    Yakuzza Lethecus: :)
    Yakuzza Lethecus: take care aph
    Aphrodite Macbain: Bye
Jan Qualia: I have been a guardian for over a year now
    Aphrodite Macbain: Bye! bye all
    Eden Haiku: Bye Aphrodite :)
Yakuzza Lethecus: find a cute one! :)
Crusty Goldshark: I never got the 9 seconds bit - mind you . . .
    Jan Qualia: bye Aph
Eden Haiku: Zen you mean, Jan...
    Crusty Goldshark: got
Jan Qualia: yes as my other alt
    Crusty Goldshark: bye
Eden Haiku: How has been your experience Zen?
Jan Qualia: I'm not sure of finding reasons for things any more
Jan Qualia: it seems like fate to me
Eden Haiku: That sounds good Jan:)
Jan Qualia: I was destined to come to pab
    Jan Qualia: :)
Crusty Goldshark: Good plan Jan reasons are not needed - too close to justifications . . .
    Eden Haiku: Karmic PaB hehe
Jan Qualia: it just kind of evolves
Eden Haiku: Collective karma we have...
Jan Qualia: not even sure why I came here at first
Jan Qualia: but I like talking to people
    Jan Qualia: I guess
Bleu Oleander: have to go all ..... take care :)
    Bleu Oleander: bye for now
Eden Haiku: Bye Bleu, take care :)
Crusty Goldshark: Well I came here because most SL people are egoic and full of their worldly selves and I am tired - I find this a rest
    Crusty Goldshark: Bye
    Jan Qualia: bye Crusty
Crusty Goldshark: No saying bye to Bleu
Eden Haiku: Yes, this place feels more focused and more real than most in SL to me also.
Jan Qualia: ok didn't see Bleu go
Eden Haiku: I like Burning Man festival too but it's short lived, this is all year long, 4 times a day, it is reassuring.
Eden Haiku: Oh nice of you to sit closer Crusty :))
Crusty Goldshark: I was moving away from that cushion . . . LOL
    Jan Qualia: observerm has gone
    Eden Haiku: sighs
    Yakuzza Lethecus: no observation today

Learning German [By coincidence, suddenly everyone is either German-speaking or learning German, except Crusty and me. This thread mixes with Xirana's first impressions about PaB, then starting over for Satia who just arrived.]

Jan Qualia: I am learning German
Eden Haiku: Would you have questions about Play as Being Xirana?
    Jan Qualia: guten tag
Yakuzza Lethecus: lol, sehr gut jan :)
Crusty Goldshark: Well done - I am half Swiss but have very little German
Jan Qualia: very good Yaku :)
Eden Haiku: Just learnt that "skirt" in German is "rock"...strange! But I could locate my lost ice skirt in inventory thanks to translation widget!
Xirana Oximoxi: thanks Eden... not, it seems a nice place to meet people, to learn other 's experiences and feelings, and to express freely everything that bother to oneself... I glad Yakuzza has introduced me here :))
Eden Haiku: Yes, Xirana and people here are so much alive and creative!
Xirana Oximoxi: and the best way to know how it work is to sit and read and see :))
    Jan Qualia: Ich bin Jan
    Jan Qualia: freut mich
    Xirana Oximoxi: hallo Jan :)
    Jan Qualia: hallo Xirana
Eden Haiku: Yes, and you can also read the wiki. We can't obviously make it to all sessions but it's nice
    Jan Qualia: :)
    Xirana Oximoxi: I'll do, thanks:)
    Yakuzza Lethecus: wb observerm
Eden Haiku: to read about our friends, their questioning, their interactions, what they are playing...
    Bertram Jacobus: hy folks :-)
    Jan Qualia: guten tag Bert
    Crusty Goldshark: Hi
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hi bert
    Jan Qualia: willkommen
    Eden Haiku: Wilkommen Bert
Bertram Jacobus: thx everybody ! :-)
Xirana Oximoxi: well, it's not always easy to get introduced to a group... but my first impression is that here, you are really open to everyone
Eden Haiku: We try to be, yes :)
Bertram Jacobus: ty eden, but i think, i won't wear it right now - hope that is not a problem (?) :-) [As I was handing him a pair of lighted antlers, Bert resisted being part of our little sect, good for him:)]
    Eden Haiku: No!
Crusty Goldshark: Well yes - being open is part of most paths - and just a good idea i general ;(
    Crusty Goldshark: in
Xirana Oximoxi: oh! yes if you want :)
Eden Haiku: No problem Bert, we aren't a sect or anything, Xirana might get the wrong impression hehe
Jan Qualia: the antler sect :)

    --BELL--

Bertram Jacobus: lol. fine ! :-)
Yakuzza Lethecus: well, i brought xirana here before because she mentioned that she wanted to present some rl paintings in sl
Eden Haiku: giggling at "the antler sect"
Yakuzza Lethecus: so i introduced her to bleu, and pab won't be the worst thing either :)
Jan Qualia: we worship the great god Rudolf
    Satia Ruby: hello, all
Crusty Goldshark: Not a sect? Oh well . . . time for me to leave Bye now off to do a SL meditation if I can find it :)
    Jan Qualia: bye Crusty
    Jan Qualia: tschuss
Yakuzza Lethecus: nothing against our holy rednoised rendeer!
Eden Haiku: We can do a meditation if you would like that Crusty.
    Yakuzza Lethecus: bye crusty
    Eden Haiku: Bye for now
    Jan Qualia: bin bald
Bertram Jacobus: i saw a meditation announced for now at the buddha land sim and group ...
    Eden Haiku: oh?
Bertram Jacobus: if somebody wants to have the lm ... i could pass it over
Eden Haiku: No, I have it thanks.
Jan Qualia: I left that group
    Jan Qualia: too many IM's
    Jan Qualia: same as Kannonji
    Bertram Jacobus: ah okay
Eden Haiku: Right, and I never go...
Eden Haiku: Very little time these days
    Eden Haiku: Hello Satia!
Bertram Jacobus: i love such pauses as often as possible ...
    Yakuzza Lethecus: hey satia
    Satia Ruby: hi eden
    Satia Ruby: hi yakuzza
    Jan Qualia: Hi Satia
Eden Haiku: Have you been at Play as Being before Satia?
Xirana Oximoxi: I must go now... thanks for your kindness... and see you soon :))
    Satia Ruby: hi jan
Jan Qualia: I prefer RL meditation
Eden Haiku: Nice to meet you Xirana!
    Jan Qualia: bye Xirana
Eden Haiku: Looking forward to seing you again :)
    Jan Qualia: freut mich
Eden Haiku: You're good at languages Jan!
    Xirana Oximoxi: ty :)
    Xirana Oximoxi: bye
Bertram Jacobus: i like both : meditation without and with the net ...
    Jan Qualia: no I'm not
Jan Qualia: I have a page open with German phrases
    Jan Qualia: :)
    Eden Haiku: Ah!!!
Jan Qualia: you have to use them to remember them
Yakuzza Lethecus: Hehe, why such a sudden interest in the german language ?
Eden Haiku: Gave you a notecard about our group Satia, that you could read later,
Jan Qualia: I have an Austrian friend
    Satia Ruby: thank you :)
Yakuzza Lethecus: Well, you could come to the virtual goethe institut.
Eden Haiku: We meet here 4 times a day, to discuss different topics that come up.
Yakuzza Lethecus: But you need to use voice there.
Jan Qualia: doesn't seem to be an Austrian language
Eden Haiku: Or we just chat in a friendly manner
Yakuzza Lethecus: Not, i always have a rough time to understand the ppl from vienna :P
Jan Qualia: I am a complete beginner in German
    Yakuzza Lethecus: All those dialects.
Eden Haiku: Exchange informations, share our feelings.
Jan Qualia: she lives in Linz
Yakuzza Lethecus: Did you install some software for german on ur iphone ?
Jan Qualia: just trying a BBC course
Eden Haiku: Every 15 minutes, a bell rings, reminding us to take a contemplative moment for 90 seconds.
Eden Haiku: In Real Life, we do that only for 9 seconds, every 15 minutes.
Eden Haiku: At least, we try to remember to do it :)
Bertram Jacobus: nice explanations eden !
    Eden Haiku: Sighs...
Bertram Jacobus: i always love to read them again !
    Jan Qualia: yes Eden

The map and the territory of our PaB practice

Eden Haiku: Seeing the wide gap between the map and the territory here...
Bertram Jacobus: why do you sigh now eden ? :-(
Jan Qualia: ja I mean :)
Eden Haiku: I mean what we are supposed to do and what I manage to do in RL...
Eden Haiku: I so often forget or get caught up in feelings...
    Bertram Jacobus: oh. i see
Eden Haiku: In the beginning, last year, I was more dedicated to the practices...
Jan Qualia: me too but trying not to
Bertram Jacobus: but it's ok when we try to do what we can and i think, we all do that eden
Eden Haiku: Yes, to have beginner's mind.
Eden Haiku: That's why it is so nice to have newcomers like you Satia, to remind us what Play as Being is all about...
Eden Haiku: To refresh our commitments to practice
Bertram Jacobus: and because all beings want to be happy and avoid suffering - all is okay . what does not mean that we can't work anymore on many things. but it is okay ...
Bertram Jacobus: so are my feelings
Eden Haiku: Yes, it's all okay really Bert :)
Eden Haiku: We fall back into some trances because we need to I guess
Eden Haiku: But it feels so much better to be awake and aware
Bertram Jacobus: we only must be aware of it and be reminded now and then and train and all that - only if we like, for sure :-)
Bertram Jacobus: and "always look at the bright side of life" (!) ;-)

    --BELL--

Eden Haiku: We have my brother from Newfoundland coming in this afternoon. He's staying downstairs at my father's place but I'm going to help him make the room. Have a great day and a very merry Christmas everyone:)
    Jan Qualia: you too Eden
Bertram Jacobus: ty eden - same for you plz ! :-)
Yakuzza Lethecus: thx very much eden
    Bertram Jacobus: *wave*
    Yakuzza Lethecus: take care
Jan Qualia: must go and make dinner
    Yakuzza Lethecus: bye jan
Bertram Jacobus: bye jan - was nice having met you ! :-)
    Jan Qualia: tschuss
    Yakuzza Lethecus: tschuss jan
Bertram Jacobus: tschuss auch ! :-)
