The Guardian for this meeting was Calvino Rabeni. The comments are by Calvino Rabeni.
Calvino Rabeni: Hello Observer
observerm Resident: hello Calvino
Rhiannon Dragoone: Hi Cal; you can say 'hi' to me too, you know; it's allowed
Calvino Rabeni: Rhiannon ? ! Hey !
Calvino Rabeni: Hi, that is
Calvino Rabeni: Sorry I was bemused here, didn't see you
Rhiannon Dragoone: :)
Calvino Rabeni: Are you mobile, Rhia?
Rhiannon Dragoone: mobile but laggy
Rhiannon Dragoone: Last time i tried sitting i was put in a blue space.
Calvino Rabeni: Would you like to have a seat ?
Calvino Rabeni: What is a blue space?
Rhiannon Dragoone: well, sometimes there is a glitch in sl, and you end up in a blue void
Rhiannon Dragoone: well, that worked this time
Rhiannon Dragoone: :)
Calvino Rabeni: LIke falling into the ocean underneath, I believe
Rhiannon Dragoone: i like the almost unnatural blue of the Carribean
Rhiannon Dragoone: But you aren't deprived of your senses like when there is the SL glitch
Calvino Rabeni: Its not permanent I think
Rhiannon Dragoone: no, but it sometimes lasts for long enough you have to log; glad it didn't happen this time
Calvino Rabeni: It would be interesting to have a list of all the second life rare bizarre or anamolous phenomena people have noticed
Rhiannon Dragoone: yeah, it would; would help noobies immensely
Rhiannon Dragoone: hi Avy!
Avy Runner: hi all :)
Rhiannon Dragoone: cute avi, Avy
Avy Runner: thanks :)
Calvino Rabeni: Or maybe just bemuse them, or scare them
Rhiannon Dragoone: Cal, of course that's possible; but it would have helped me if i had known what is a glitch and what isn't
Calvino Rabeni: For the SL noobies, it would be useful to have them at least categorized by what to do, such as just wait a bit, or relog, or whatever
Calvino Rabeni: when I was learning to ride a motorcycle, I remember a web site with "101 Ways to Drop Your Bike"
Calvino Rabeni: and it made me realize I wasn't involved in a simple predictable endeavor
Calvino Rabeni: and had to give up, I think, the idea of learning as a simple pattern
Rhiannon Dragoone: learning is never simple
Calvino Rabeni: Hi Avy
Avy Runner: hi Cal :)
Calvino Rabeni: So, may I ask, who has something in mind, that is interesting ?
--BELL--
Avy Runner: well, who is our newbie here (looking at the man on the pick) ?
Rhiannon Dragoone: i need to go, i just realized
Rhiannon Dragoone: So i guess it is the newbie's pick
Rhiannon Dragoone: tc Avy, Cal, Observer
Avy Runner: bye Rhi
Calvino Rabeni: Come again Rhiannon :)
Calvino Rabeni: I call him Stone Man. He is a stone statue representing an indigenous jungle dweller, in a secret valley on an island in the Gulf of Siam
Avy Runner: ah yes, was wondering if it was a statue, or somebody using clay
Avy Runner: as part of religion or other rites
Calvino Rabeni: I don't think so...more like a museum I think - a way to remember who came before
Avy Runner: a tribute
Avy Runner: and why is Stone Man with us today?
Calvino Rabeni: When I arrived, the place was deserted ... I wanted to pull in some ghostly presence to keep me company
Calvino Rabeni: (a kind of builder's doodle, I suppose)
Avy Runner: ah...... I understand
Avy Runner: a doodle :)
Calvino Rabeni: And it might qualify as a statement about Time or Identity or something for an Art project
Calvino Rabeni: All I have to do is come up with a more well-defined rationale
Avy Runner: I see
Avy Runner: you just didn't choose any doodle :)
Avy Runner: it certainly gives a certain feeling, raising questions at the same time
Avy Runner: since he seems to be 'out of line' here
Avy Runner: so you start wondering about who this man is
Avy Runner: how his life looks like
Calvino Rabeni: Yes, he seems like a visitor out of time and out of space
Avy Runner: yes
Calvino Rabeni: looking out a window into this virtual world
Avy Runner: right :)
--BELL--
Calvino Rabeni: So this is the feeling of "being seen" (as I interpret it) suggested in that early chapter of the TIme class
Avy Runner: ah...
Avy Runner: and that image reflects on you Cal ?
Calvino Rabeni: It spoke to me
Avy Runner: right
Calvino Rabeni: Oh, I mean, he spoke to me
Avy Runner: :)
Avy Runner: it would be interesting to see where it resonates with you
Calvino Rabeni: saying - I see you with the eyes of prehistory - take my picture and put it on the internet :)
Avy Runner: :)
Avy Runner: and is now looking into our world
Avy Runner: with a silent observation
Calvino Rabeni: I think it's been more than 7 generations
Avy Runner: wow
Avy Runner: I wonder how he would feel about our world
Calvino Rabeni: I like to think this was a farsighted shaman
Calvino Rabeni: He might feel we were shortsighted
Avy Runner: yes, the way he looks, seem to identify him as a shaman, whether it is true or not
Avy Runner: I am reading your profile observerm
Avy Runner: I guess a lot of us started that way :)
Avy Runner: I think observerm is not observing at the moment :)
--BELL--
Calvino Rabeni looks at the clock
Calvino Rabeni: It is auspicious to depart, says the oracle
Calvino Rabeni: Goodbye then, and have a good day, Avy
Avy Runner: bye all
Calvino Rabeni: And observerm, take care
Avy Runner: sleep well Cal :)
Avy Runner is taking another zip from my coffee :)
Calvino Rabeni: "Zip" I like that - you will become zippy
Avy Runner: isn't that English?
Avy Runner: :)
Calvino Rabeni: Yes, its a pun if you meant "sip"
Avy Runner: ah...... :)
Avy Runner: sip then :)
Avy Runner: thanks
Calvino Rabeni: to zip is to move quickly, which could be an effect of drinking coffee
Calvino Rabeni: its quite fitting
Avy Runner: :D
Avy Runner: then I keep on 'zipping' :)
Avy Runner: bye Cal
Calvino Rabeni: Bye :)
