Wol Euler was guardian for this session.
Wol Euler: guten morgen, berti
Bertram Jacobus: dürfen wir hier deutsch schreiben ?
Wol Euler: nun ja, es wäre ein bisschen unfreundlich die anderen gegenüber
Bertram Jacobus: ;-9
--BELL--
Bertram Jacobus: damn - my laptop does not work very well ... :-(
Wol Euler: :(
Wol Euler: what's wrong?
Bertram Jacobus: often i write something but the laptop makes left mouse clicks without i do them :-(
Bertram Jacobus: and then the corsor goes to silly positions, letters are totally mixed up then or nothing is wirtten at all ...
Wol Euler: perhaps your trackpad is configured to interpret touching as clicking?
Bertram Jacobus: looks like ! you know where i can change that ?
Wol Euler: it'll be in system settings somewhere, but I don't know specifically where
Bertram Jacobus: i will try to fix that - now or later ?
Wol Euler: erleichteter Bedienung perhaps
Wol Euler: or Maus
Bertram Jacobus: hmmm - no idea where to find that ...
Wol Euler: systemsteuerung
Bertram Jacobus: yes - i´ll try after this session ...
Bertram Jacobus: and ty for the hints !
Wol Euler: yw hth
Bertram Jacobus: hth ? :-)
Wol Euler: Hope That Helps
Bertram Jacobus: ah :-)
Bertram Jacobus: me too :o)
Bertram Jacobus: or as well ?
Bertram Jacobus: either ? ;-)
Wol Euler: "me too"
Bertram Jacobus: great - my first idea was the good one, again ;-)
Wol Euler: you could use "as well" but only as part of a complete sentence
Bertram Jacobus: according to the saying : first thought = correct thought ;o)
Wol Euler smiles.
Wol Euler: not always, but often
Bertram Jacobus: yep :-)
Bertram Jacobus: how are you today ?
Wol Euler: verschnupft, leider
Wol Euler: I fear I am catching a cold in this recent frosty period
Bertram Jacobus: oh. many have that "influenza a" these days
Wol Euler nods.
Bertram Jacobus: a virus going round ...
Bertram Jacobus: a friend of mine recommends holunderbeersaft, from the phamacie - and he knows really well, he works at such a place
Wol Euler: ah
--BELL--
Wol Euler: "elderberry" in english
Wol Euler: (I looked it up)
Bertram Jacobus: and says, normally this is not given, but other pills, from the pharma industries ...
Wol Euler nods.
Bertram Jacobus: ah yes - ty ! :-)
Bertram Jacobus: the berries of the elder ones ? ;-)
Wol Euler: no point in taking something that's natural and nearly free, if you could take something artificial and highly profitable
Wol Euler: bush called "elder"
Wol Euler: not related to age :)
Bertram Jacobus: yes. that is the point. or at least one of the essential ones -
Bertram Jacobus: really not ? hmmm ...
Bertram Jacobus: did you deal a lot with the pab week topic so far ?
Wol Euler: not at all, actually
Wol Euler: shall we?
Bertram Jacobus: we could, yes - which one is it ?
Wol Euler: "what stops?"
Wol Euler: which is related to dropping
Wol Euler: when we drop, what stops?
Bertram Jacobus: oops ? i´m not sure, whether i understand it (?)
Bertram Jacobus: ah !
Bertram Jacobus: thoughts, first - i would say - what is your opinion ?
Bertram Jacobus: or greed (!)
Wol Euler: hmmmm
Wol Euler: attachment, the feeling of "mine" stops
Bertram Jacobus: we could look at greed as a cause of attaching - would you agree ?
Wol Euler: I'd say the feeling, yes, rather than a thought; at least at first
Wol Euler: greed or fear
Wol Euler: heh, probably most human actions are motivated by one or the othter of those
Bertram Jacobus: i consider feelings as thoughts as well - but with more energy perhaps, more attachment (!) ...
Wol Euler: fair enough :)
Wol Euler: I've seen more of a distinction between them since I started hanging around with little children :)
Wol Euler: they definitely feel but htey don't seem to think that much
Bertram Jacobus: the traditional pair of essential hindrances for clarity, enlightenment and so on is named greed and hatred
Wol Euler: hmmmmm
Bertram Jacobus: from which is said, that hatred is only greed as well, but as greeding to the direction to not wanting to have things ...
Wol Euler: I can see that, but it doesn't fit me so well. There is very little and almost nobody that I hate
Wol Euler: you know the Karuna Metta meditation?
Wol Euler: (side issue, skip it for now)
Bertram Jacobus: the word is really strong, but what is meant is the disposition to wish not to have and suffer from many things, aspects, situations - like illness, for example (!) ...
Wol Euler: so hatred is a kind of envy or jealousy? that works, that would make it into a form of greed
Wol Euler: I see that
Bertram Jacobus: it´s that aspect where the ego says i don´t want - that is meant
Wol Euler has to think about that for a moment.
Wol Euler: so "I hate injustice" means "I want to be treated justly"?
Wol Euler: or "I hate bananas" means "I don't want to eat bananas"
Wol Euler: but what does "I hate Fred" mean?
Bertram Jacobus: yes. that is a good example for these two aspects, which are not equanimity
Bertram Jacobus: i would love if he wouldn´t be in that way in my life as i experience it
--BELL--
Bertram Jacobus: may be, the greek distinction of love helps once more : eros is greed, philia is greed, but agape isn´t.
Bertram Jacobus: and , i hope , eros and philia, escorted by agape so to say, may be not greed anymore as well ! ... :-)
Wol Euler smiles.
Bertram Jacobus: :-))
Bertram Jacobus: dear wol - that was a reminder : i should give some aufmerksamkeit to ma gf now ...
Wol Euler smiles.
Wol Euler: your good deed for the day
Bertram Jacobus: so - i´ll leave for now - hehe
Wol Euler: take care, be happy and not-greedy
Bertram Jacobus: ah - noooo - that is very much for me as well - should be even more altruistic i feel
Wol Euler smiles.
Wol Euler: why? do you not deserve nice things too?
Bertram Jacobus: and ty for the wonderful job you do here ! i appeciate this really very much ! ...
Wol Euler smiles modestly.
Wol Euler: thank you, berti
Wol Euler: it's a pleasure for me too
Bertram Jacobus: sure i do. but altruism brings closer to enlightenment as egoism ...
Bertram Jacobus: so bye for now and i hope to meet you soon again !
Wol Euler: when we next meet, I would like to talk about that sentence some more
Bertram Jacobus: and have a nice time ! *wave*
Wol Euler: because while I do agree, I think it is wrong :)
Wol Euler: you too, berti, enjoy the day
Bertram Jacobus: okay ! i look forward to that ! :-)
