A beautiful Sunday morning. Let's really talk about 'busy' or 'not busy".

Pia Iger: Hi, Doug, Rajah
doug Sosa: morning

Pia Iger: Have not seen you for a while, Rajah.
Rajah Yalin: RL has been very busy
doug Sosa: riding a tiger!
Pia Iger: every min we seem to have more things to do than we can handle
doug Sosa: hi adams!

Adams Rubble: thanks :)
doug Sosa: just try saying in the middle of it, "I am not busy". and try to be, without changing what you are doing.
Pia Iger: I remember reading that Doug just said
Adams Rubble: Ah Doug, You told us that once and I tried for a day and it worked well. Unfortunately I forgot it because I became too busy to remember

doug Sosa: notice how often we say "I am too busy." If we just stopped saying it, we would already have more time.
Adams Rubble: :)
doug Sosa: Seriously, in this culture people are actually afraid to say "I am not busy." It feels crazy, out of step, yet it is appreciated.
Adams Rubble: I use it as a defense :)
Pia Iger: most people do
Pia Iger: as an excuse
Pia Iger: to not do
doug Sosa: try being without it, then much less to defend against!
Adams Rubble: Sort of just say go away, I don;t want to do that (just kidding) :)
doug Sosa: the paradox is, since you are not busy, you can do it.
Pia Iger: It's very true. People are not patient to give others attention and time to listen.
Pia Iger: (reply to Adams)
Pia Iger: 'I am busy" often an excuse to brush off people.
Adams Rubble: Funny thing with me is that I tell people I am too busy and then usually do it anyway :)
doug Sosa: like paddling the board against the waves. much easier to just go with it, even if it is too much, it will sort itself out.
Adams Rubble: That approach satisifes no one (reply to me)
doug Sosa: The key is, to actually feel like you have time, even in the midst of too much. It really does change the whole.
Pia Iger: agree!
Adams Rubble: yes, I tried it once and it worked
doug Sosa: worth exploring, then, what is being defended against.
Pia Iger: I can imagine by saying "I have time", it can unwind my mental tension. recently, I feel very fatigue mentally, can't move myself to next thing to do.
Pia Iger: am I really tired, or just feel tired? I am not sure.
doug Sosa: sounds like a baloon being pressed by sharp objects, those "next things."
Adams Rubble: I always feel a rush of energy when I am doing something I ant to do
Adams Rubble: want to do
doug Sosa: ant to do is rather poetic, given what we are talking about :)

Pia Iger: but if there are too many you want to do? don't you feel pressured?
doug Sosa: Pia, when you rest can you really do it?
Pia Iger: good question.
Adams Rubble: Oh, yes Pia but there is always one thing out of all of them I want to do most
Pia Iger: not all the time, doug
doug Sosa: the secret is to make sure that resting feels legitimate.
Pia Iger: right.
doug Sosa: and that there are no "i don't want to do them" tasks. Each one is a tacher of sorts. a tightrope from here to wisdom.
Pia Iger: ah
doug Sosa: if you take a bad task seriously and do it like an artist, it can be done easier, quicker, and with less stress.
Pia Iger: nods. that is a new way for me to look at them.

Doug gave us such new perspective. I was waiting for more sentences coming from him, suddenly he disappeared from his seat.

Adams Rubble: Whoops. Doug seems to have crashed
Pia Iger: hope the long sentense he typed will be saved!
Adams Rubble: It may just be the animation didn;t stop as he was crashing
Pia Iger: ok.
Adams Rubble: Sunday mornings can be wierd on SL :)
Pia Iger: I have not experienced anything weird yet.
Adams Rubble: Rajah, that is a great outfit. You look very distinguished
Rajah Yalin: thank you
Adams Rubble: Pia, I usually dress down on Sundays so I don't crash

doug Sosa: and i am getting ready to make breakfast for seven.. tasajara food, pancakes with whipped cream and blackberries from down the road... but in between I've got a call
doug Sosa: with someone who wants me to help with their organization, but our styles are so different it always feels like conflict...
doug Sosa: so this conversation is vey very helpful with me now..

doug Sosa: is it hard? I hate the thorns!
Rajah Yalin: Aussies come here to our country with their chemicals saying 'kill the blackberries, its a weed its a weed!"

Pia Iger: who can really take care of the daily life, not just eat on the run.
Pia Iger: or fast food
Adams Rubble: Well, not all Americans eat fast food :)
Pia Iger: yes, I don't mean that.
Adams Rubble: we might make fast food though :)

Pia Iger: but I do sense the rush over, instead of take time to prepare and eat.

From blackberry, to global economy and politics.

Adams Rubble: Are Aussies emigrating into your country Rajah. They don't just come to kill blackberries do they?
Rajah Yalin: Australians provide a lot of the services
Adams Rubble: ah
Rajah Yalin: many wealthy australians own land here
Pia Iger: land for vacation house, or for company/business?
Rajah Yalin: both really
Rajah Yalin: not too long ago, a year or so, some Australians were caught operating fraud businesses (trying to make money) here in Port Vila and in Australia
Adams Rubble: With the global economy, we all need to become senstized to what effect it has on people
Pia Iger: and on the enviroment
Adams Rubble: We have to find a way for the world to stand up and say "no, that's not good for us"
Rajah Yalin: yep a lot of the market prices have been going up ridiculous
Pia Iger: The thing is everywhere "richer people have a louder voice"
Adams Rubble: Yes Pia. The rules have changed so countries do not have the power to veto the acts of foreign corporations
Adams Rubble: Someone has to be able to say No!
Adams Rubble: (Sorry I am feeling too political this morning)
Pia Iger: not at all. Just thinking, in daily life, if we can all honestly say 'no' as we feel about right or wrong.
Adams Rubble: The people of the world need a place for their collective voice to be heard
Pia Iger: The big compromise comes from the daily, small give-ins.
Adams Rubble: yes, "sliding morality"

Quen, our newest guardian, stepped in and joined our talk of morality and economy. Before long, we had to adjourn and move to our weekly guardian meeting.

Adams Rubble: and then that our small decisions are the first compromise
quen Oh: I think the world needs billions of voices :-)
Adams Rubble: Yes, pretty muchy what we were thinking :)
