Adelene Dawner: It takes some effort on our part, but yeah, it's possible to get through to him with that. I had good success last time I saw him - he pulled that 'sitting on the ourskirts' thing again, and I went and sat on his lap. Seemed to get the desired reaction. :D

Adelene Dawner: Wol: That's part of it, yes; there's a pattern of behavior there.
Adelene Dawner: It may not be very obvious but I'm actually pretty picky about who I allow to touch me - even my av. I'll tolerate some situations where I'm uncomfortable, with that, but Susi just keeps pushing, and he's goona get bit if he doesn't stop soon.
Wol Euler nods. I gathered that.

Adelene Dawner: This is something I need practice dealing with, and in that sense I'd ratehr handle it myseld. But.... might be better for him, if you did.

Wol Euler: I do tend to go into "leap up and fix things" mode.
Squee: Before I speak, I have something important to say.
Adelene Dawner: Yes, Moon. That's one of the things I'm trying to practice with this av - being firmer, standing up for myself and what I want. But doing it in a way that's not actually damaging is still a priority too - which is most of why I haven't actually swatted him, I'm trying to find a way that's not going to be too painful for him.

Adelene Dawner: And really, if he doesn't 'get it' the first time I ask nicely, why should I think that he might get it the second or third time?
Wol Euler shrugs. Perhaps he was distracted? Perhaps he thought it was a special case on a bad day...
Wol Euler: I don'T wish to make excuses, he _should_ have grasped it. But not grasping ain't necesssarily disrespectful or provoking (which it might be in other certain other people).

Adelene Dawner: The situation in question, it was pretty clear that we were talking about 'in general', and he responded in a way that seemed pretyt clearly like he'd heard and understood. So, I don't know what the issue is.
Adelene Dawner: It's pretyt well moot at this point, I think.

Wol Euler: hmmmm. I can see that, Spring in Toronto in my childhood was 30 days of contant rain

Adelene Dawner: It'll be interesting to see what springtime is like here, tho.
Wol Euler: different here, the rain slows down for a while between winter snow and summer storms
Wol Euler: ah, yes, first time in a new place.
Adelene Dawner: Maybe we'll have a proper spring, here. In NJ, it goes from being cold and rainy and cold to being hot hot hot in the space of a week.
Wol Euler: huh
Adelene Dawner: Fall's the same, there - you get a week or two of nice mild crispness in between hot hot summer and too-cold-to-be-pleasant. Which is a shame - I like fall. :)
Moon Fargis: hmhm i would prefer to ive in a country where no real winter is
Wol Euler: I'd prefer to live in a country where summers were cooler. I really suffer at above 28°C or so
Moon Fargis: also no salt on the streets wich means that the cars hold longer

Adelene Dawner: Yeah - I'd forgotten that I can't fall asleep when the sun's out, unless I'm exhausted.
Adelene Dawner: And even then, not really.
Wol Euler: give yourself a few weeks of "normal timekeeping" first, perhaps...

Adelene Dawner: I've actually been going schedule-less for the last week or so. Which is really nice ^.^
Wol Euler: actually, most creatures seem made for a 23.5 hour day :)
Adelene Dawner: Humans tend to go to a 26 hour day when they don't have external cues.
Wol Euler: if you put them in isolation and darkness, they settle into a "day" that is about half an hour short of the 24.

Wol Euler: I lived for a few years entirely by my body time, not the clock (I was selfemloyed, working at home)
Wol Euler: I found that my natural schedule then was very early, I wuld get up sometimes at 5:30 am and be going to ed at 9pm

Adelene Dawner: The last time I had no schedule to stick to, I tended to go to sleep just before the sun came up and sleep 'till early afternoon.

Adelene Dawner: Which was also what was happening before I tried the 28-hour thing - it's just not a very convenient schedule to have, since I'm also fairly useless when I first wake up.
