The Guardian for this meeting was Adelene Dawner. The comments are by Adelene Dawner.

    Adelene Dawner: Hello :)
    BOBAS Francois: hello
    Adelene Dawner: Hi ^.^
Eliza Madrigal: All well and wonderful I hope
    Adelene Dawner: Most definitely ^.^
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Adelene Dawner: Hi Pila ^.^
Pila Mulligan: hi Ade and Eliza
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Pila :)
Pila Mulligan: I hope you are both well and happy
    Adelene Dawner grins.
Eliza Madrigal: :) Well and wonderful
    Pila Mulligan: :)
Adelene Dawner: Much better - missed you guys the last couple days.
    Pila Mulligan: nice Ade, thanks
Eliza Madrigal: :) Good to settle in for a while
    Adelene Dawner: (I had a bit of a brain crash. :P )
Pila Mulligan: for the record I should correct a mistake from the Ganesh discussion
    Eliza Madrigal: Ah..needed rest?
Adelene Dawner: Something like that, Eliza. Yes, Pila?
    Eliza Madrigal: Oh?
Pila Mulligan: Parvati was Ganesh's mother -- I said Shakti, but Parvati is an aspect of Shakti (the Great Mother)
    Adelene Dawner: Ah, okay.
Pila Mulligan: technical, but an error still :)
    Adelene Dawner: heh
    Eliza Madrigal: :) Thanks
Pila Mulligan: so the brain crash is not a problem now, Ade, i ee
    Pila Mulligan: see*
Adelene Dawner: Eliza - I'm autistic... usually pretty good as far as brain function, because I know how to keep everything running smoothly, but every once in a while I push it too hard, or run into a rough spot, and some bits stop working. Usually takes a day or two to get everything back working right.
Adelene Dawner: In this case, visual processing went blooey and took grammar with it.
Eliza Madrigal: Understand. Good that you understand your process
Pila Mulligan: I still do work for lawyers, desppite my proclamation of retirment
Pila Mulligan: today I got a case where a party is seeking to excuse their faiure to keep court procedures on the basis of ADD
Pila Mulligan: it will be interestng to see how the court deals with it
    Adelene Dawner: Yes.
Eliza Madrigal: I get "overloaded", not the same thing, but have read much about aspergers for that reason.
Adelene Dawner: Not completely implausable, Pila, but something to treat with a bit of skepticism, I'd suspect - I'll be interested to hear what they do.
Adelene Dawner: Eliza - how so?>
Pila Mulligan: Eliza, I do not recognize the term aspergers'
Pila Mulligan: yes, me too Ade
Eliza Madrigal: Aspergers is on the autism spectrum
    Pila Mulligan: ok, thanks :)
Eliza Madrigal: It sometimes overlaps wwith OCD
Eliza Madrigal: Or seems to....can get caught in loops
Pila Mulligan: ok, help me again please -- OCD?
    Eliza Madrigal: :) Sorry....obsessive compulsive disorders :))
    Pila Mulligan: ok, thanks
Adelene Dawner: In common use it's 'high functioning autism' - technically, the only difference is that Aspergers' autistics don't have a speech delay, which is no accurate predictor of later functioning level (I didn't have a delay though)
Eliza Madrigal: yes...high functioning. Many "gifted" children seem to fall along this spectrum also
    Adelene Dawner nods.
Eliza Madrigal: And working with children (and having children...one of whom had/has some difficulties with what I call overload also...
Eliza Madrigal: it is something I find interesting...
Adelene Dawner: Eliza, if I find some literature about the difference between Aspergers' and 'classic' autism, would you be interested in reading it?
    Eliza Madrigal: absolutely
Adelene Dawner nods and pokes at her sources.
Pila Mulligan: it is interesting to me to contemplate the evolution of psychology
    Eliza Madrigal: :) Thank you
Eliza Madrigal: Yes..so many terms now
Pila Mulligan: we have a kind of micorscopic view of psyhcology today
Pila Mulligan: in the Vienna heyday it was more generalized, it seems
Pila Mulligan: before that it was a mixture of superstioitn and theology
Eliza Madrigal: Within the school system, diagnoses are mixed up with money also...so often there are pressures to diagnose quickly, rather than take time to really understand
Pila Mulligan: I wonder where it will be in 100 years
Eliza Madrigal: Or at least where I've worked in FL public schools
Adelene Dawner: Here's a good start, Eliza. http://ballastexistenz.autistics.org/?cat=42
Pila Mulligan: yes, that is the great weakness of most scinetific practice in my opnion -- it is driven by the available grants
    Eliza Madrigal: Thanks, Adelene
Eliza Madrigal: Will have to upgrade flash...
Adelene Dawner is still a bit curious about Eliza's overload experience...
Eliza Madrigal: It just takes me a while to process "simple" things sometimes...
    Adelene Dawner nods.
    Adelene Dawner: Sounds familiar.
Pila Mulligan: my question will wait then, until after Ade's -- mine is this: have either of you ever expereimented with how various foods affect your condition?
Eliza Madrigal: things people usually find "easy" but then with conceptual things...I'm often there in a flash...then have to work backwards
Eliza Madrigal: I'm not great with sugar actually
Eliza Madrigal: And I shut off emotionally...but think that is also about processing.
Eliza Madrigal: Takes a while :)
Adelene Dawner: I have unusual reactions to lots of stuff.
Pila Mulligan: does Eliza's description sound anything like your condition Ade?
Adelene Dawner: Depends on how she's using those words; coulds certainly be similar.
Adelene Dawner: Her 'work backwards' sounds like my 'translate'.
Pila Mulligan: maybe some elaboration there then ....
Pila Mulligan: are you the Guardian Ade?
    Adelene Dawner nods.
Pila Mulligan: would you like to turn off the recorder?
Eliza Madrigal: With some children I've worked with, they get hung up on little things like a thread...or that sort of thing.
Adelene Dawner: Nope, I'm fine having this on record, and have discussed it before here. I will if Eliza wants, though. Eliza?
Eliza Madrigal: They cn't concentrate on the work until you've breathed with them a bit...
Eliza Madrigal: It is fine with me
    Pila Mulligan: :)
    Adelene Dawner: :)
Eliza Madrigal: And have allowed them some space
Adelene Dawner: I don't have much of the OCD bit - a few odd habits that come close, but nothing actually disruptive.
Pila Mulligan: now when Freud identified fixation as a fundamental symptom of what he called neurosis, could that not have been related to getting hung up on a thread?
Eliza Madrigal: A bit like a super sensitivity in some ways, Adelene?
Eliza Madrigal: Well, I suppose Pila..but this is gentler I think than those sorts of terms...
    Adelene Dawner: Not entirely unrelated.
Pila Mulligan: it depends on how you approahc the older terms though, Eliza :)
Pila Mulligan: they became rooughly treated over time, I think among Freud's circle they were gentle with them
Eliza Madrigal: Yes...I'm sure there is a gap between someone who understands what they are saying, vs. someone just looking for a label? :)
Pila Mulligan: to them neurosis was akin to what some Eastern philosophes call maya
Pila Mulligan: just a general ocndition of impercfect awareness
Adelene Dawner: One of the very common *skills* with autism is excelent ability to notice patterns - if a pattern is always there and you get used to it, having it be disrupted can be very disconcerting, even if it's something with no *functional* problem in the disruption... kind of like, how would you feel if you came home one day and discovered that someone had moved all your furniture around?
Eliza Madrigal: Ah, agree and love the way you loop there :)
    Pila Mulligan: hi buddha
    buddha Nirvana: hi :)
    Adelene Dawner: Hiya, Buddha ^.^
    Eliza Madrigal: YES
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Buddha
    buddha Nirvana: he ade :)))
    buddha Nirvana: hi*
    Adelene Dawner: ^.^
    buddha Nirvana: hi eliza :)
Pila Mulligan: now finding the furniture moved all around would disturb me Ade
Eliza Madrigal: I move furniture constantly
    Pila Mulligan: :)
Eliza Madrigal: However, don't like to have much of it
Pila Mulligan: ah, same here Eliza
Pila Mulligan: not much of it
Adelene Dawner: Yep. Hypersensitivity means that we can have that kind of experience about things most people would never even notice, though, Pila.
buddha Nirvana: i dont have any :)
Adelene Dawner: And, Eliza - it's not the same if you do it yourself :)
Eliza Madrigal: Ah, yes. One psychologist described to me as "Feeling everything with every cell"
    Adelene Dawner nods. "Yep."
    Pila Mulligan: sounds like samadhi
    Adelene Dawner: ?
Pila Mulligan: samadhi is the state of oneness people seek in meidtation
Pila Mulligan: Feeling everything with every cell sound like it
Eliza Madrigal: I do think it can be like that Pila...like starting from the place most are trying to get to, and then organizing in order to communicate
Adelene Dawner chuckles. "mmhmm. I *still* don't get why you people are trying for that. In practice, it's a pain in the butt as often as it's ever useful."
Eliza Madrigal: But my understanding is limited of course
buddha Nirvana: samadhi does bring great tranquility
Pila Mulligan: well, this is also my complaint with instant enlightenment -- it needs ethics or guideposts to make it functional in the mundane
Pila Mulligan: yes, and getting there by meditation is perhaps more integrated than starting there :)
Adelene Dawner nods... now *that* makes sense.
Pila Mulligan: imagine what Nancy Regan would have said to Jesus if he had been her son
Pila Mulligan: get your hair cut you little brat
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Adelene Dawner: hehe
Eliza Madrigal: When people talk about awakening experiences due to psychotropics, I think is a little the same
    Pila Mulligan: yes ineed
    Pila Mulligan: it is
Pila Mulligan: they found the end but lost the path
    Eliza Madrigal: yes
Eliza Madrigal: great way to put that...hmm
Pila Mulligan: so this is one reason samsara gets great play in eastern religions
Pila Mulligan: we bring to our birth a whole bundle of stuff to wokr with
Pila Mulligan: then we get more :)
buddha Nirvana: or we can empty ourselves
Pila Mulligan: that would be one path through samsara indeed buddha
buddha Nirvana: sure, but one with intent to end it
    Pila Mulligan: yep
Eliza Madrigal: Certainly patterns come up...same person in different skin, etc. :)
Eliza Madrigal: Can't escape...have to go through it seems :)
Eliza Madrigal: Does altruism override it you think?
    Pila Mulligan: overdide what ELiza?
    Pila Mulligan: samara?
    Pila Mulligan: s*
Eliza Madrigal: cycles of samsara. yes...I know isn't that simple/technical, but seems an interesting question.
    Pila Mulligan: well, it depends
Pila Mulligan: a cobbler can obtain liberation by makng shoes
buddha Nirvana: i wander if having found a system to empty accumulated 'karma' , you are inclined to be more able to come accross that system in another life
Pila Mulligan: if altruism is the liberating path for someone, then it will work of course
Pila Mulligan: but there may be altruistic people stuck in samara also
Pila Mulligan: I suspect so buddha
    Eliza Madrigal: Preprogramming, buddha ?
Pila Mulligan: more an accumulation of tools maybe
buddha Nirvana: that would be an optimistic way of looking at it
    buddha Nirvana: seemingly optimistic
Pila Mulligan: but the really hard part of samsara is birth
Pila Mulligan: itis at birth that we get trimmed dwon from the past to the rpesent lifetime
Pila Mulligan: so some tools may get misplaced
    buddha Nirvana: sure
buddha Nirvana: especially when you consider the possible time scales
buddha Nirvana: memory is flimsy in this life alone
Pila Mulligan: now this is where Meher Baba uses the term sanskara
Pila Mulligan: it is an equally valuable idea -- sankara are the bruises, so to speak, that make it through birth from the past
    Pila Mulligan: s*
    Eliza Madrigal: Hmmm
buddha Nirvana: yea, then we get into conditioninf
    buddha Nirvana: conditioning
Pila Mulligan: present life is full of conditioning for sure
Pila Mulligan: Nancy: 'Jesus, cut your hair!"
buddha Nirvana: one might be hopeful that we are perhaps conditioned to find similar useful tools
Pila Mulligan: optimisim is a virtue :)
    buddha Nirvana: :D
buddha Nirvana: we all need samadhi to lean on..
    Pila Mulligan: :)
    Pila Mulligan: puns are us
buddha Nirvana: that one never tires
Eliza Madrigal: I asked my son "How are you and I different?" he said "I am a grown up and you are a child."
    Eliza Madrigal: Oh...dear, buddha. hahah
Pila Mulligan: how old is your son Eliza?
    Eliza Madrigal: 10
    Pila Mulligan: nice wisdom
Eliza Madrigal: He's something else. ic all him an emergent property
    Pila Mulligan: to his face?
Pila Mulligan: I bet he has a good response if so
Eliza Madrigal: Sure....we talk about all kinds of things...that people are born into the world with such capacity
Eliza Madrigal: I had framed for a while "Not by age but by capacity is wisdom acquired." I believe that
Pila Mulligan: Sufi Sam said children are the voice of god
    Eliza Madrigal: Nice, yes.
Pila Mulligan: it's funnny that we have already had the image in thie discussion of paths that are coming and going at the same itme
Pila Mulligan: the capacity for widom is kind of like that
Pila Mulligan: one perosn may grasp a concpet in an instant
    Pila Mulligan: while others struggle
Pila Mulligan: yet on a idfferent path things are not necessarily so aligne
    Pila Mulligan: d*
Eliza Madrigal: :) weaving...comes together at some points...all the threads (another string in the conversation) ha
    Pila Mulligan: yep
Eliza Madrigal: Now, is it Ganesha or Ganesh...?
    Pila Mulligan: both
    Eliza Madrigal: Ah
Pila Mulligan: Krishna or Krisna? both
Pila Mulligan: Siva or Shiva --same
Eliza Madrigal: I should do my reading, but for now I just like him and think "Hello remover of obstacles"
Pila Mulligan: Ganesh is Best :)
Eliza Madrigal: though I know that it isn't he but I'm talking to me or...? hahha
    Pila Mulligan: why not he?
    Eliza Madrigal: Well, sure. True.
Pila Mulligan: can't sya for sure that it is or isn't :)
Pila Mulligan: so maybe it is
Eliza Madrigal: Yes. Maybe and for sure
    Pila Mulligan: :)
Eliza Madrigal: Ade and Buddha, I was refering to status I was given....was looking at one of them for a long time...
    Pila Mulligan: statue
Eliza Madrigal: then signed online and went to read PaB logs and Pila had been talking about Ganesh
    Eliza Madrigal: statue, yes
    Pila Mulligan: statues actually
    Pila Mulligan: :)
    Adelene Dawner: ^.^
Eliza Madrigal: exactly...friend went to India last yaer
    Eliza Madrigal: year too
Pila Mulligan: do you know what the other statues are ELiza?
Eliza Madrigal: They are all Ganesh
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Pila Mulligan: oh, cool
Eliza Madrigal: some little, some larger
Pila Mulligan: one for every bathroom :)
Pila Mulligan: I have them all over the place, and outside too
Eliza Madrigal: Hah. He makes me think of Joseph Campbell ,,,
Eliza Madrigal: now have to Netflix all those shows again
Pila Mulligan: be maybe he is not a myth :)
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Pila Mulligan: but*
Pila Mulligan: wouldn't it be funny if all the petty dieties were real
Pila Mulligan: and it was the monotheists who were wrong
Pila Mulligan: there is no God, but there are a zillion little gods
Eliza Madrigal: Hmm. This idea of many in one is what sticks with me
    Pila Mulligan: sounds existnetial :)
Eliza Madrigal: From the perspective of the one, a billion and from the perspective of the billion, one?
    Pila Mulligan: :)
Adelene Dawner is here. She is being Avastu, today.
    Eliza Madrigal: : )
    Adelene Dawner: :)
Eliza Madrigal: buddha, still with us?
    buddha Nirvana: yes:)
Eliza Madrigal: A bus passed by me the other day and the sign jumped out "Not In Service"
    Pila Mulligan: :)
Pila Mulligan: there are some signs on roads here that say "Enetering Fault Zone, watch for falling rocks" ...
Pila Mulligan: dna then afetr a while a sing sayd "Leaving Fault Zone"
    Pila Mulligan: :)
    Eliza Madrigal: oh wow :)
Pila Mulligan: on of my favorite sings
    Pila Mulligan: signs
buddha Nirvana: devine,, or just regular?
Pila Mulligan: any kind is fine with me :)
buddha Nirvana: i guess they're all devine/ undevine
Eliza Madrigal: both? On the way home from sangha a few Tuesdaysago....a sign jumped out that said "SPACE available"
Eliza Madrigal: I took a deep breath and smiled so big
Pila Mulligan: now we ned one that says "Time Available"
Eliza Madrigal: :) unless its the same thing
    Pila Mulligan: true
    Pila Mulligan: probably is too
buddha Nirvana: "not for sale" is quite a funny term
    Pila Mulligan: :)
Pila Mulligan: and I always took issue with the idea of 'young republicans'
buddha Nirvana: or more so "for sale"
    Eliza Madrigal: haha
Eliza Madrigal: You've got Nancy on the brain tonight Pila?
Pila Mulligan: yes, so it seems
Pila Mulligan: I had a funny dream of her the other noght
Eliza Madrigal: :) she's happy about the stem cell research ban lifting
Pila Mulligan: yes, and without having to affect fetal issues too, it seems
Pila Mulligan: some British scinetist seem to have solved that problem
Eliza Madrigal: is amazing! I haven't heard that
Pila Mulligan: yep, a few weeks ago, it was on the BBC website
    buddha Nirvana: excuse me all:)
    buddha Nirvana: go well :)
    Eliza Madrigal: Night buddha :)
    Pila Mulligan: bye buddha
    Adelene Dawner: 'night, Buddha :)
    buddha Nirvana: nite:)
Eliza Madrigal: Will have to look at that. What was the dream, Pila?
Pila Mulligan: it is not perfectly rememebred, but it began with seeing Ronald Reagan calling 'Nancy, Nacy ' loud and sadly like they were lost
Pila Mulligan: then she came along in a wheel chair to near where he was, but they still could ont reach each other
Pila Mulligan: kindof a despairing situation
    Eliza Madrigal: Oh...sad :(
Pila Mulligan: then the next night she rode through my bedroom in a wheel chair and went out the wall
Pila Mulligan: leaving a rather snarky trail of exhaust I must add
Eliza Madrigal: Oh my! haha Well no wonder you're thinking about her.
Eliza Madrigal: Is this um...a usual thing? haha
Pila Mulligan: not exactly an uplifting set of dreams :)
Eliza Madrigal: (SL switched my texts there)
    Pila Mulligan: it happens :)
Pila Mulligan: I credit their time in the whoite House with starting the dregulation that led to our present banking ruin
Pila Mulligan: so my love them is lmimted to the spirit
Pila Mulligan: not the matieral :)
Eliza Madrigal: No....so you're dealing with Nancy, with lawsuits, with other business things....
    Pila Mulligan: so it seems
Eliza Madrigal: Seems to me very strategic, but maybe I've not shed all my conspiracy mindsets :)
Pila Mulligan: the bnak ruination seems strategic?
Eliza Madrigal: Yes...to me it seems like there was a timer....like a window for people...some...to make as much money as they could in a certain way
    Pila Mulligan: that seems undeniable
Pila Mulligan: that window was quit eopen
Eliza Madrigal: yes...and a feeling that it was open to "all" but not
Pila Mulligan: it was open to all int he realm where it existed -- look at all the people Bernie burned
Eliza Madrigal: Yes...live in Florida and many charities affected
Pila Mulligan: such a huge amount of ruination
Pila Mulligan: it is almost beyond my grasp
Pila Mulligan: how much was lost
Pila Mulligan: what is a trillion dollars?
    Eliza Madrigal: poof
Pila Mulligan: how many ic cream cones?
    Pila Mulligan: poof ineed
Eliza Madrigal: How many arts programs
    Pila Mulligan: or schools
    Pila Mulligan: or hospitals
    Pila Mulligan: really :|
    Eliza Madrigal: yes
Pila Mulligan: and what a shell game
Pila Mulligan: the fake value financial insturments
Pila Mulligan: paid for with earned income
Pila Mulligan: then, after poayment the fake instuemnts disappear in the hands of the buyers
Eliza Madrigal: That's the thing...people work and save for years and years...
Eliza Madrigal: And it is a blow to dignity
Pila Mulligan: indeed, and the insult of seeing you just bought the booklyn bridge
Eliza Madrigal: yes...have a house in Fl :)
    Eliza Madrigal: imagine :)
Pila Mulligan: did oyu see the houses fo sdale in Detroit for $1
    Eliza Madrigal: :( No.
Pila Mulligan: they are all forclosure properties that cost the banks more to keep than give away
Pila Mulligan: empty, deteriorating, but still houses
Pila Mulligan: someon shold buy them for homeles speople
Eliza Madrigal: yes...do you think this will be a "wake up" that perhaps
Eliza Madrigal: will change people's mindsets?.and I include myself
Pila Mulligan: I'm still wondering whenit will reach the low point, Eliza, then we can see if people ca wake up
Pila Mulligan: if it gets worse it could be too irritating for p[eople to get past their anger
Pila Mulligan: but it is already waking people up to osmehting
    Pila Mulligan: very ture Squee
    Eliza Madrigal: yes like that!
Pila Mulligan: for the recoder: A free society is one where it is safe to be unpopular.
    Adelene Dawner: :)
Pila Mulligan: Squee gets squeezed oout of the recorder
Eliza Madrigal: Oh, unless someone puts Squee in the title
Adelene Dawner: He can be added back in. :)
Eliza Madrigal: :) Well, re: financial picture, etc. I am hopeful that people will drop some of their guards with one another and get real....
Eliza Madrigal: because it has seemed for some time that communication has often consisted of "Look what I bought"
Eliza Madrigal: in many places....not that I don't like clothes, mind you :)
Pila Mulligan: the idea of living a cooperative and sutainable life in an economy designed for it would be utopia, from where we are
Pila Mulligan: and there would be plenty of clothes, too
Pila Mulligan: but the world's a stage,a nd some of the actors just don't like the idea
    Pila Mulligan: of utopia
Eliza Madrigal: We may be like Moses...didn't live to see promised land himself.. ? My dd is going into environmental law she thinks..and she wants to live in a tree! hahaha
    Pila Mulligan: :)
    Pila Mulligan: nice idea
Eliza Madrigal: So....am hopeful that her generation is more aware
    Eliza Madrigal: Or passionate...or ...something
Pila Mulligan: her genaration will need to save the world
Eliza Madrigal: Mindful would be good :)
    Pila Mulligan: smart
    Pila Mulligan: would help
Eliza Madrigal: :) Yes...but think, we elected a smart president in the US...after years of wanting some guy
    Eliza Madrigal: So...are some shifts
Pila Mulligan: smart guy after the beer guy
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: With awakening, other things have to dissolve perhaps
    Eliza Madrigal: Optimism again
Pila Mulligan: many things obstruct utopia
Pila Mulligan: but utopia is quite attainable notehteless
Pila Mulligan: realtive t where we are anyway
    Eliza Madrigal: You think so?
    Pila Mulligan: sure
Pila Mulligan: I bet any 5th grade class in the world could come up with improvements to assure food and clothing and shelter to epole
    Adelene Dawner: Hi, Steve :)
Pila Mulligan: its just that no oe would do it
    Pila Mulligan: hi Steve
    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Steve
Eliza Madrigal: Pila, you are so right!!!!!
stevenaia Michinaga: hello, late night I see
    Pila Mulligan: :)
Pila Mulligan: have a seat Steve
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
stevenaia Michinaga: jsut the three of you?
    Pila Mulligan: four
Eliza Madrigal: Yes, buddha ws here earlier...and Squee
stevenaia Michinaga: then I better wait until you all Rezz
Pila Mulligan: and now Steve :)
Eliza Madrigal: Yes, now Steve :)
Pila Mulligan: there, a safe seating
Pila Mulligan: isn;t it embarassing to sit on someone
stevenaia Michinaga: made some friends that way too
    Pila Mulligan: :)
Eliza Madrigal: :) Sometimes the way
Eliza Madrigal: The other day I was still doing Tai chi when I got into meditation...but I saw myself as sitting so just went on and on
Eliza Madrigal: until someone told me H
    Pila Mulligan: cool
    stevenaia Michinaga: H?
    Eliza Madrigal: (erase the H)
    stevenaia Michinaga: kk
Pila Mulligan: tai chi can be meditative for sure
Eliza Madrigal: :) SL is funny though....can be a good teacher to take oneself lightly
Eliza Madrigal: I'm sure...would like to learn actual Tai Chi. this wasn't that :)
stevenaia Michinaga: I can see that, yoga became automatic, unfortunalte my Tai Chi teacher keeps telling me to open my eyes
    Pila Mulligan: :)
Pila Mulligan: were you do chi kung (qi jong) ELiza?
stevenaia Michinaga: someone could be attacking
Pila Mulligan: yeah but yo do yang style Steve
Eliza Madrigal: because of the yoga Steve? You were used to closing your eyes?
Pila Mulligan: yang worries about such things
    stevenaia Michinaga: yes
Eliza Madrigal: No Pila....was right clicking on a tai chi ball :)
    Eliza Madrigal: hahah
    Pila Mulligan: oh, I see
Pila Mulligan: sorry I had thoiught rl
Pila Mulligan: taichi balls are cool too
    Eliza Madrigal: yes :)
stevenaia Michinaga: the forms are similar with the tai chi balls
    Eliza Madrigal: Are they?
    stevenaia Michinaga: fun to watch
    Eliza Madrigal: Accurate?
stevenaia Michinaga: but there are so many forms
    stevenaia Michinaga: close
Pila Mulligan: probably the best the sripter could do
    Eliza Madrigal: neat
    Pila Mulligan: scripter
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, it show how intent some scripters are
    Eliza Madrigal: fantastic really
stevenaia Michinaga: or scriptress in the case of Ade
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Adelene Dawner: ^.^
Eliza Madrigal: Just saved that site to my desktop Adelene...will be reading in the morning unless guests who were supposed to be here tonight are here then
    Adelene Dawner: Good :)
Adelene Dawner: I was friends with the author when she was active in SL - she hasn't been on much in the last year or so, though.
Eliza Madrigal: She still writes, but not in SL?
Adelene Dawner: She's been updating the blog less and less, too - she was sick for a while and now she's busy with more useful types of activism.
    Eliza Madrigal: Ah, well good.
    Adelene Dawner nods :)
Pila Mulligan: earlier Ade and Eliza said they both sometimes notice things that other people don't usually notice, like a pattern or a concept -- i wonder how much of what people usually pay attention to is just a result of the stage script of their lives
    Adelene Dawner: 'stage script'?
Pila Mulligan: as in the world's a stage
    Adelene Dawner shrugs.
Eliza Madrigal: merely a player...each man in his turn plays many parts
    Pila Mulligan: :
stevenaia Michinaga: one sees much of what you are trained to see
    Pila Mulligan: :)*
stevenaia Michinaga: I look up alot :)
Pila Mulligan: there is a collective myth of what is real in the world, and it can be very narrow sometimes
Adelene Dawner: As near as Three and I can figure, I have, for example, a wider field of vision - I'm literally seeing more things at once than most people do.
    Pila Mulligan: not surprised Ade
    Eliza Madrigal: hyperopia?
Adelene Dawner has not heard that word before.
Eliza Madrigal: extra perifery as I understand it
Adelene Dawner: wikipedia says it's a fancy word for farsightedness.
    Pila Mulligan: as un-myopic?
Eliza Madrigal: haha....guess so then. Defer to Wiki
    Adelene Dawner: heh
    Pila Mulligan: wiki rules
Pila Mulligan: not always right, but rules anyway
Eliza Madrigal: :) Rules often enough?
    Pila Mulligan: like most rulers
    Pila Mulligan: :)
Adelene Dawner: but yes, extra perhiperal vision sounds right. My eyeballs work the same, but my brain doesn't filter out as much befor it reaches conscious awareness.
Adelene Dawner: And it seems to be similar for all the senses, though harder to quantify for most of them.
Eliza Madrigal: I do think, Pila, that organzing into narrow categories can be a big issue in schools and in families...if a diagnoses opens up windows of understanding though...can be freeing
Pila Mulligan: that must make stalking gazelles easier
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Adelene Dawner grins at Pila.
Pila Mulligan: yes, the therapy is only as high as the therapist, as Ram Dass said
Eliza Madrigal: And many people who felt frustrated with so-called "failures" might have been helped to approach maybe diffrently
Eliza Madrigal: Or accept their differentness...embrace it
Eliza Madrigal: Yes....why it is good that we can read so much for ourselves now...connect the dots...network
    Adelene Dawner: mmhmm :)
Pila Mulligan: I have wondered recenlty if the internet will grow into the void left by the ruination of financial instutons
Eliza Madrigal: I admit to imagining a work where all malls are online
Pila Mulligan: Pay Pal Gone Wild
    Eliza Madrigal: world
stevenaia Michinaga: more bandwidth for us scial beings
    Eliza Madrigal: hahahaha
stevenaia Michinaga: all malls are online in SL
Eliza Madrigal: :) yes...fine with me
Eliza Madrigal: most malls should be parks
Adelene Dawner: I was thinking about that the other day - maybe having to explain to my grandkids what a 'brick and mortar store' is.
    Pila Mulligan: :)
Pila Mulligan: here in Hawaii we have lots of homeles speople and terrible schools and zillion dollar resorts that are now half full or less as people run out of money
Pila Mulligan: seemslike an obious solutoin there
    Adelene Dawner nods
Pila Mulligan: but what keeps it form happening?
    Adelene Dawner: Classism.
    Pila Mulligan: yep
Adelene Dawner: It'd drive the tourists away.
Pila Mulligan: homeless peole would dirty the rooms
Eliza Madrigal: Some things may indeed be positive, like slow food taking off...people sitting to eat together. BUT we hve short memories...
Pila Mulligan: I love slow food :)
Eliza Madrigal: News of citibank doing well for two months and I was almost ready to run to Target-hah
    Pila Mulligan: :)
    Pila Mulligan: and many did
Pila Mulligan: i had to go inot the local MalWart yestrday
    Pila Mulligan: very crowded
Eliza Madrigal: Yes, everyone in Walmart these days
Eliza Madrigal: The next generation must indeed be learning. That's the hope
Pila Mulligan: I sure hope so, they really do need to save the world
Eliza Madrigal: Oh my...longest I've been here in one sitting
    Pila Mulligan: :)
    Adelene Dawner: :)
    Pila Mulligan: almost midnight?
Eliza Madrigal: Has been so interesting at so many points. Fantastic company :)
Eliza Madrigal: Yes, three minutes to go
Pila Mulligan: yes, it has been a nice session
Adelene Dawner: One of these days we'll have to do a full 6-hour sit again. That was fun, last time.
    Pila Mulligan: wow
Eliza Madrigal: I still haven't found that Adelene!
    Pila Mulligan: really, six hours?
Adelene Dawner: Eight, I think, actually, in the end. One session all the way through to the next, and the next was a long one.
Eliza Madrigal: Maybe Stim can pop in every few hrs to lead a meditation :)
Pila Mulligan: are they on the chat log?
Pila Mulligan: yes, Eiza, a refresher
Adelene Dawner: Yep. Let me see, I mayt be able to find it.
    Pila Mulligan: l*

    Eliza Madrigal: You're fast
    Adelene Dawner: ^.^
    Pila Mulligan: thanks Ade
    Adelene Dawner: No problem ^.^
    Pila Mulligan: a marathon :)
    Adelene Dawner: ^.^
Adelene Dawner: It was fun, though.
Eliza Madrigal: Am saving that one too...my eyes are crossing :)
stevenaia Michinaga: I;m pretty much at the end of my night
Adelene Dawner: ok, 'night guys :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: night slll
    Pila Mulligan: bye
Eliza Madrigal: Night, Steven. Me too :) Night everyone!! Thanks so much!
    stevenaia Michinaga: be
    stevenaia Michinaga: bye
