The Guardian for this meeting was Eden Haiku. The comments are by Eden Haiku who was joined by Bleu, Eliza, Yakuzza, Calvino, Eos, Zen, Lucinda, Storm and Woolcinder.
It is nice to have Bleu back at the pavilion!
Bleu Oleander: hi Eden!
Eden Haiku: Nice to see you Bleu. Back from your trip to New York?
Bleu Oleander: yes, got back yesterday
Bleu Oleander: hi Eliza!
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Eden, Hi Bleu (Welcome back!), Hi Calvino :)
Eden Haiku: How was it Bleu? Welcome Eliza and Calvino ;)
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Yakuzza :)
Bleu Oleander: great trip! one of our best yet!
Bleu Oleander: hey Yaku!
Eliza Madrigal: Excellent!
Eden Haiku: hey Yaku, Eos!
Bleu Oleander: hi Eos
Yakuzza Lethecus: hey everyone
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Eos :)
Calvino Rabeni: Good (morning) everyone :)
Eos Amaterasu: HI Bleu, Eliza, Calvino, yakuzza, Eden
Eliza Madrigal: Lovely to see everyone, wow :)
Eden Haiku: Bleu just came back from an exciting trip in New York with her Spirit of the Senses group.
http://www.spiritofthesenses.org/
Bleu Oleander: have lots of photos ... lots of work to do!
Eden Haiku: What was the highlight of the whole trip?
Bleu Oleander: for me? it was the neuroscientist at NYU
Eliza Madrigal: Oh?
Eos Amaterasu: they'll do it every time!
Eliza Madrigal: hehe
Eden Haiku: Oh! Would you share the experience of meeting him (or her) ?
Bleu Oleander: he is chair of the dept of neuroscience and physiology at NYU
Bleu Oleander: quite a dynamic person
Bleu Oleander: and very giving of his time
Bleu Oleander: also the VP of the Amercian Museum of Natural History
Calvino Rabeni: What is his name, Bleu?
Bleu Oleander: he spoke to us about the current extinction of species
Calvino Rabeni: That's quite a nice bridge - neuroscience and natural history
Bleu Oleander: Rudolfo Llinas at NYU
Bleu Oleander: his book is great "i of the vortex"
Eden Haiku: Thinking about all these creatures fighting for their life with the oil spill
Calvino Rabeni: You found it inspiring / engaging
Bleu Oleander: also we met with the Editor of the Jefferson papers in Princeton
Bleu Oleander: that was a great experience as well
Bleu Oleander: anyway, I will be doing a page on our website with photos and links
Eliza Madrigal: Seems quite a full trip
Eliza Madrigal: Oh, great
Bleu Oleander: it was
Eden Haiku: That is wonderful that Spirit of the Senses has been going on for so many years Bleu...
Eliza Madrigal nods
Bleu Oleander: yes, we've met some wonderful people over the years
Bleu Oleander: and of course always fun to catch up with family
Bleu Oleander: tried to interest them in sl
Bleu Oleander: you know how that goes! hehe
Eden Haiku: Did you convince anyone?
Bleu Oleander: no
Eden Haiku: :(
--BELL--
As Bleu is inquiring about what has been happening around PaB, we envision what Eos will call "world-wide synchrony"
Bleu Oleander: any highlights I've missed here?
Eden Haiku: Hum...
Eden Haiku: Eos and I suggested we do an experiment with the 15 minutes stopping with a timer on Saturdays and then for one hour before the guardian meeting.
Eden Haiku: Eliza said she is going to do it on Fridays. I will join you on that Eliza!
Eliza Madrigal: Wonderful :))
Bleu Oleander: how would that work?
Eliza Madrigal: I may start it today actually... as I have gotten myself into a pickle and it might help :)
Eos Amaterasu: Pickle as Being
Eliza Madrigal: heheh
Eden Haiku: You set a timer to ring every 15 minutes Bleu.
Eos Amaterasu sets his timer
Bleu Oleander: oh, to remind to do the 9 secs?
Eliza Madrigal nods
Eden Haiku: Pickle as Being/ Setting the timer right now/
Eos Amaterasu set his time for 10 minutes, so it will ding on the :30
Eos Amaterasu will then set it for every 15 minutes
Eden Haiku: Yes... the timer helps actually.
Bleu Oleander: hi Zen
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Zen :)
Eliza Madrigal: http://playasbeing.wik.is/Guardians'...ributions/Eden
Eos Amaterasu: / world-wide synchrony
Zen Arado: hi all
Eden Haiku: Ordered an iPad this morning :)
Eliza Madrigal: This is the page where Eden shared her pause haikus :)
Eos Amaterasu says, me too
Eliza Madrigal: Ooohhhh Eden and Eos, nice!
Eden Haiku: It was ordering day in Canada :)
Bleu Oleander: can you do sl on an ipad?
Eliza Madrigal: Ah
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Zen Arado: timer app was no good
Zen Arado: still looking for one
Eliza Madrigal: Sorry to hear that zen but thanks for the follow-up
Eden Haiku: Wondering about that. Through a limited app like on iPod...
Zen Arado: more like an alarm clock needed
Eos Amaterasu: I'm assuming Sparkle and others will be modified to work great on iPad
Zen Arado: but that can ring during the day
Zen Arado: Hi Lucinda
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Lucinda :))
Bleu Oleander: hi Lucinda
Eden Haiku: Yes, there is also Pocket Metaverse which is a bit better than Sparkle for SL but still no visuals.
Eliza Madrigal: Wow... big group for Monday morning ; )
Eliza starts a deeply symbolic thread involving a sofa…which will inspire the British guys a few interesting puns
Eliza Madrigal: (brb- am trying to fit an enormous sofa through a small doorway)
Eden Haiku: Lucinda is the one who told me about Metaverse.
Eos Amaterasu: Pickle as Being/ Setting the timer right now/ World-wide synchrony
Lucinda Lavender: Hi Zen, Bleu,Eden,,Eliza,Cal Yaku,
Zen Arado: is it possible to buy more land around Buyeo Bleu?
Eden Haiku: Have been using it Lucinda? The Pocket app?
Eden Haiku: World-wide synchrony, very good Eos! ;)
Eden Haiku: Already built all your land Zen, getting addicted too hey?
Lucinda Lavender: I have tried and yet I was so new to the PaB site that I have mainly stayed with the computer.
Zen Arado: thinking of giving up 1/4 sim
Zen Arado: who owns land that says Pab coastal region?
Lucinda Lavender: The main thing was that you could im someone and move the avatar around but there was no seeing of others...ers
Lucinda Lavender: It felt limited somehow.
Lucinda Lavender: Unless there was more I had not discovered somehow.
Eden Haiku: Yes, that is the unfortunate part of that app... No visuals...It is like doing PaB with a blindfold on...
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Lucinda Lavender: :)
Eliza Madrigal: Eos, saw your email a second ago (not that I was multi-tasking-heh) Are you off for travels today?
Eden Haiku: Anyone would like to focus on some topic to 'drop' in or out during the next pause?
Eden Haiku: tapping Eliza on her fingers (for bad behavior)...
Eliza Madrigal would like to drop the stress of getting the sofa through the door, and still get the sofa through the door
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: [this seems a needle's eye dilema]
Eden Haiku: Marvelling at your capacity to type and move a sofa Eliza...
--BELL--
Eos Amaterasu is leaving for Europe (mainly Poland) tomorrow....
Eden Haiku: Welcome Storm;)
Bleu Oleander: Hi Storm
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Storm :)
Storm Nordwind: Thank you Eden. Hello everyone :)
Eliza Madrigal: and /me giggles @ Eden ;-)
Eden Haiku: A business trip Eos, or visiting relatives maybe?
Zen Arado: hi Storm
Eos Amaterasu: not biz, somewhat of a retreat (after SF real-life retreat just can't stop :-)
Eliza Madrigal smiles
Eos Amaterasu: (volcano willing)
Eliza Madrigal: retreat addiction... hmmm
Eden Haiku: A retreat...
Eden Haiku: Oh yes, the volcano is acting out again...
Eliza Madrigal: Sounds wonderful, Eos. Safe travels
Eden Haiku: Yes Eos, have a nice trip!
Eos Amaterasu: thnx....if you're at an airport and hear a ding, that's me :-)
Lucinda Lavender: nature is once again asking us to be open to the big picture...
Eliza Madrigal: (and wishing you only condusive obscurations-hehe)
Bleu Oleander: :)
Eden Haiku: Picture a time when airports will be filled with timers going on every 15 minutes ;)
Woolcinder Oxidor: hello Everyone
Eliza Madrigal smiles...and people asking one another for help finishing haikus
Eden Haiku: Everybody would freeze, dropping...
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Woolcinder :)
Eden Haiku: Hello Woolcinder, how are you?
Lucinda Lavender: lovely!
Bleu Oleander: hi Woolcinder
Eos Amaterasu: Eden wrote re her drop & haiku marathon two saturday's ago:
Eos Amaterasu: Feeling connected/ To myself with a light thread/ Throughout the whole day
Woolcinder Oxidor: sweet and a little smoky
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Zen Arado: Hi Wool
Lucinda Lavender: HI Woolcinder,
Eden Haiku: Oh, I'm feeling fresh and a little raw ;)
Eden Haiku: How are others feeling this morning?
Eliza Madrigal am about to move the washer/dryer and take a door off the hinges without worrying if I can put it back
Zen Arado: this afternoon:)
Zen Arado: I was painting
Eliza Madrigal: am=is I=she
Woolcinder Oxidor: evening
Eliza Madrigal giggles
Eden Haiku: It is easy to put back usually Eliza :) No worries. Just remember to take out the one at the bottom first.
Zen Arado: SL stops me working
Zen Arado: but it isn't hard to do :)
Eliza Madrigal: :))
Eos Amaterasu thinks that Eliza it taking multi-tasking to a whole new level
Eliza Madrigal smiles... well all busyness exists in rest, eh?
Eden Haiku: she is!
Woolcinder Oxidor: frankly it feels relaxing just to be here
Eden Haiku: With the timer on too Eliza aren't you?
Eliza Madrigal nods
Bleu Oleander: gtg .... nice to see everyone! have a good trip Eos and good luck with your moves Eliza!
Eden Haiku: Yes, Woolcinder, thank you. This circle of friends is quite relaxing even when people are doing heroic tasks like Eliza is this morning ;)
Eliza Madrigal: Bye Bleu, Welcome back :))
Zen Arado: bye Bleu
Eden Haiku: Bye bye Bleu!
Woolcinder Oxidor: bye Bleu
Eos Amaterasu: thnx, Bleu
Storm Nordwind waves
Eos Amaterasu: Must also go, actually, bye everyone
Sofa as being
Eliza Madrigal: What I'm doing, is enacting moving impossible big things, by moving around impossible small things
Zen Arado: bye Eos
Lucinda Lavender: bye Bleu.
Eliza Madrigal: Bye Eos, safe travels
Eden Haiku: Bye Eos, have a good trip!
Woolcinder Oxidor: bye Eos
Lucinda Lavender: Eos
Eliza Madrigal: and enjoying the process by including friends :)
Eliza Madrigal: and pauses :)
Eden Haiku: I like being included in your titanic effort Eliza!
Eliza Madrigal: hehe, Thank you Eden!
Zen Arado: I bought a book of Haiku by Ikkyu
Zen Arado: he is a bit rude but interesting
Eden Haiku: In fact, I am very ignorant about haikus Zen, I know only Basho...
Storm Nordwind: How very British Zen! :)
Zen Arado: a scandalous zen monk
Eden Haiku: Ikkyu... i will look it up...
Zen Arado: a slim volume :)
Zen Arado: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Crow-No-Mout...3502668&sr=1-1
Eden Haiku: An 'erotic-minded monk ', oh oh...
Eliza Madrigal: :)
--BELL--
Eden Haiku: Was wondering Eliza, are you using the pauses to move the sofa or do you sit on the floor, waiting?
Zen Arado: sofa as being
Lucinda Lavender: hearing the clock tick, I am a little sleepy, must go to work now...
Eliza Madrigal: I struggle and wrestle with it, come here to type as I catch breath....
Eliza Madrigal: then pause :)
Zen Arado: see sofa move sofa
Eliza Madrigal: Have a wonderful day, Lucinda :)
Yakuzza Lethecus: bye lucinda
Storm Nordwind: sofa sogood
Eden Haiku: have a nice day Lucinda!
Zen Arado: bye Lucinda
Eliza Madrigal: hehehh
Lucinda Lavender: bye all...
Eliza Madrigal: Well, the thing is it is now stuck and I can't close the garage door at all
Storm Nordwind waves
Woolcinder Oxidor: bye Lucinda
Zen Arado: :)
Zen Arado: :)
Eliza Madrigal: nor can I get to the place I need to, to remove the door hinges
Zen Arado: sophistry
Eliza Madrigal: (this all seems very symbolic to my life right now)
Eliza Madrigal: which is why I think I'm determined to win
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eden Haiku: Maybe a bit of onigokko would help Eliza?
Onigokko and other childish games
Yakuzza Lethecus: onigokko
Storm Nordwind: Relaxing takes up so much space
Zen Arado: not sofa isticated enough
Yakuzza Lethecus: stop
Eliza Madrigal giggles
Eliza Madrigal: thank you
Woolcinder Oxidor: lol i missed this train
Eden Haiku: Just click the object called onigokko in your inventory
Eden Haiku: And then click wear it Woolcinder.
Woolcinder Oxidor: i have so many now...are you all conspiring to see me dance alone
Zen Arado: :)
Eden Haiku: This is our rite of initiation...
Zen Arado: so generous with our onigokkos
Eden Haiku: Look in recent objects...I just gave it to you.
Eliza Madrigal: haha Wool :)
Woolcinder Oxidor: yes I have gone through the ritual before Eden :)
Eden Haiku: Ah.. ok... You must have a few of them then :)
Woolcinder Oxidor: and the way I am sitting away from the rest of you is making me feel conscious of myself
Eden Haiku: onigokko
Eliza Madrigal: Wool!
Eliza moves to sit next to Woolcinder.
Eliza Madrigal: stop
Zen Arado: ah you have a shippo tail Eden
Eden Haiku: Come on Wool, join us!
Woolcinder Oxidor: its not working :)
Imitating Eliza, I sit on Woolcinder's other side.
Eden Haiku: Feeling better?
Eliza Madrigal: Did you click 'wear'?
Woolcinder Oxidor: yes i am wearing it
Eden Haiku: onigokko
This time, Woolcinder is ready to join our little onigooko dance, madly running around in circles
Woolcinder Oxidor: yes much better Eden
Eliza Madrigal: ah, tada
Eliza Madrigal: >whew< energized now
Eden Haiku: tada!
Eden Haiku: yes the sofa will move as a charm!
Eliza Madrigal: Indeed... it can't help it
Eden Haiku: It is a sofa with legs really Eliza!
Eliza Madrigal: hm, no actually I took those off
Eliza Madrigal: hahah
Eden Haiku: ha...
Eliza Madrigal: stop
Woolcinder Oxidor: there is something so very childish about this
Eliza Madrigal: yes :)))))
Eden Haiku: In fact, it is very very serious Woolcinder...
Zen Arado: we must become as little children
Eliza Madrigal: serious play
Zen Arado: said Jesus
Storm Nordwind is shocked by Wool's pronouncement
Eden Haiku: According to Lamb's theory about movements...
Eden Haiku: Which is what inspired the Teletubbies....
Eliza Madrigal: Oh? what is his theory Eden?
Woolcinder Oxidor: nietzsche also spoke of the three stages
Woolcinder Oxidor: the lion to the laod bearing camel to the child
Woolcinder Oxidor: indifferent..and too innocent to blush
Calvino Rabeni: Rudolfo Llinas' theory is also about movements ... but what of the teletubbies, Eden?
Zen Arado: Teletubbies more my level:)
--BELL--
Eden Haiku: sorry was afk
Eliza Madrigal: I'd better go... will catch up with the log. :) Thanks for the session this morning!
Eliza Madrigal: Bye for now
Zen Arado: bye Eliza
Storm Nordwind waves
Woolcinder Oxidor: bye Eliza
Eden Haiku: Bye Eliza, good luck with the sofa!
Zen Arado: reading about Tinky winky controversy
Woolcinder Oxidor: whats that
Eden Haiku: Was afk talking to my Dad who came back to see his doctor. He is in perfect good health!
Zen Arado: was accused of being gay role model
Zen Arado: serious stuff :)
Zen Arado: cause he carried a handbag :)
Eden Haiku: Told him I had a reunion in Internet, sounded serious... did not tell I was going to fill in my friends about the Teletubbies and the theory of movements...
Storm Nordwind wonders whether he has stumbled on an alternative universe
Zen Arado: Tele tubbie land?
Woolcinder Oxidor: he must be thinking you are out to save the universe
Zen Arado: Supposed pagan agenda A Christian ministry (Kjos Ministries) has argued online that the Teletubbies represent an attempt to promote a "new global paradigm" of "earth-centered" spirituality in contrast to conservative Christian beliefs. [15]
Eden Haiku: These hills do remind me of the Teletubbies… Wait, I have a Net link...
Storm Nordwind: Which particular paganism is that I wonder
Calvino Rabeni: Calvino Rabeni is TV-less - has only heard remote rumous of such things as squarepants - can understands storm's perspective
Eden Haiku: http://www.labancan.org/articles/MPA.pdf
Zen Arado: do we have an 'earth centred spirituality' I wonder
Calvino Rabeni: I think not
Storm Nordwind: we?
Zen Arado: ok me then
Storm Nordwind chuckles
Storm Nordwind: Most people I've found have a 'me' centered spirituality!
Calvino Rabeni: This is a very important form of ignorance that should not be questioned much
Zen Arado: not conservative christian anyway
Zen Arado: me too :)
Zen Arado: working on it though
Eden Haiku: Teletubbies do move in synchrony... Coming to the screen to wave..In fact, Storm, your waving...is much like the Teletubbies!
Zen Arado: article sounds like work study techniques Eden
Noticing a sound in RL, Storm subtly makes us shift from utter silliness into nice quiet small tall about the weather that do not last, unfortunately, as the silliness takes over again, onigokko, sky swimming, chocolate disco and dream dancing kicking in…
Storm Nordwind listens in RL to the pounding of a flicker on a chimney cap
Eden Haiku: They give big hugs and repeat things twice!
Calvino Rabeni: Calvino Rabeni is interested in other parallels between these mythical teletubbies, and the mythical SL character "Storm Nordwind"
Eden Haiku: Oh, is there snow now as they predicted in Colorado Storm?
Storm Nordwind: We have a 70% chance of snow forecast for Wednesday
Zen Arado: it's quite cold in UK too
Eden Haiku: Incredible!
Eden Haiku: Here it is cold but sunny!
Calvino Rabeni: A cold spring here in West Coast US also
Zen Arado: snow in Scotland I think
Storm Nordwind: Oh it's not cold here. It was 25C yesterday
Eden Haiku: really a strange weather...
Eden Haiku: Where do you live Woolcinder?
Woolcinder Oxidor: Pakistan
Eden Haiku: Oh, yes, I remember you said so before..
Eden Haiku: is it hot already?
Woolcinder Oxidor: umm i dont remember it my self :)
Woolcinder Oxidor: its burning with desire
Eden Haiku: ?
Eden Haiku: ha ha
I move away from Woolcinder, and sit next to Storm.
Eden Haiku: Moving to cooler areas ;)
Woolcinder Oxidor: i forgot what cool is like
--BELL--
Woolcinder Oxidor: i strongly believe that the word cool should be eradicated from the english dictionary
Zen Arado: I have to go
Zen Arado: bye all
Calvino Rabeni: Cool is what happens inside shopping malls / air conditioned buildings, in some countries.
Eden Haiku: Bye Zen, :))
Calvino Rabeni: Bye
Woolcinder Oxidor: bye Zen
Eden Haiku: I think they use 'hipster' now...
Calvino Rabeni: "Hipster" :)
Storm Nordwind has never been cool :)
Calvino Rabeni: Eden you're "gone"
Eden Haiku: ?
Woolcinder Oxidor: or sways peoples tongue when they are so overwhelmed they loose all verbal abilities
Woolcinder Oxidor: this is like so cool sitting here
Calvino Rabeni: Loose the tongues of a hundred civilizations
Eden Haiku: ;)
Eden Haiku: Yaku, Yaku…(Yaku was falling asleep)
Calvino Rabeni: Eden, hipsters were denizens of the gone world, as I recall
Yakuzza Lethecus: :)
Calvino Rabeni: They reinvented the "ground" as a suitable location for seating
Storm Nordwind just thought they were low-waisted jeans
Eden Haiku: Just read a fascinating article about the hipsters being all programmed by the medias now...In a magazine from Vancouver....
Eden Haiku: Can't recall the name. Online magazine...
Calvino Rabeni: Preparing the way, for a scooter to be transformed into a skateboard
Calvino Rabeni: And the rest was / is history
Storm Nordwind has no independent thought [click]
Eden Haiku: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laban_Movement_Analysis
Calvino Rabeni: I think Apple Computer is the major player in the programming
Eden Haiku: This is the link about the theory used in designing the Teletubbies...
Calvino Rabeni: Laban was a notation for dance choreography
Eden Haiku: yes, it is the same Laban
Calvino Rabeni: Then the idea was, to use it as a control mechanism for virtual people?
Calvino Rabeni: Or was it used in anthropology?
Eden Haiku: Laban you mean?
Calvino Rabeni: Yes
Eden Haiku: I brought the link to explain how onigokko can really lighten things up...onigokko
Eden Haiku: onigokko
Eden Haiku: stop
Eden Haiku: I realize I'm the only one wearing the pig tail? Are you all wearing the eye one?
Eden Haiku: onigokko
Calvino Rabeni: No, I have the piggy tail also
Storm Nordwind: I'm wearing the tail too. I just edited it to be transparent
Eden Haiku: Ok, well it works with the eye version, I see!
Eden Haiku: stop
Eden Haiku: Ahh!
Calvino Rabeni: The bubble and the sky swimming work pretty well also, for this lightening
Calvino Rabeni: a little calmer feeling goes with it
Eden Haiku: Oh I would love to try the sky swimming! What do I need for that?
Eden Haiku: Nice...
Eden Haiku: Did you create the bubble that goes with it?
Calvino Rabeni: No, someone gave it here also
Eden Haiku: May I have one, please?
--BELL--
Eden Haiku: Others do not feel like flying?
Woolcinder Oxidor: i do
Storm Nordwind is content to watch
Eden Haiku: Ok, I will give you.
Woolcinder Oxidor: we should also wear our undies over our pants to complete the superman
Calvino Rabeni: This lightens, feels more relaxing then onigokko - which is for energy
Calvino Rabeni: This is a bit dreamy
Yakuzza Lethecus: ョコレイト・ディスコ ♪
Yakuzza Lethecus: Chokoreito Disco ♪
Eden Haiku: Nice, one is disco dancing, three floating and one levitating!
Eden Haiku: I'm not sky... swimming
Eden Haiku: I'm like trapped in the ball of light...
Eden Haiku: Hopefully it is waterprtoof as Storm is making the brain (* I meant rain but brain is good too!) storm in!
Woolcinder Oxidor: your bubble seems to have a higher surface tension
Eden Haiku: Oh I love the dream dance Yaku, it is so graceful!!!
Eden Haiku: This is even better than the Teletubbies!
Calvino Rabeni: Perhaps if you take off the fuwa-fuwa and restart the shyboarn, you will have a more dynamic movement, Eden
Woolcinder Oxidor: like the bubbles in a river...forming..bursting..borne away
Calvino Rabeni: I now feel suitably non-intellectual, thanks
Eden Haiku: Thanks for the snow...and the sky swimming... all very quieting...
Woolcinder Oxidor: the bubble makes you sleepy
Calvino Rabeni: I was already that :) but it made me enjoy it more
Calvino Rabeni: However, If I leave this place, I have a better chance to become productive
Calvino Rabeni: Thanks for the sit, all - have a good day :)
Storm Nordwind waves
Eden Haiku: Bye Calvino.
Woolcinder Oxidor: bye Cal
Yakuzza Lethecus: bye everyone
Woolcinder Oxidor: bye Yakuzza
Eden Haiku: Bye bye Yaku
Woolcinder Oxidor: i will bid farewell too
Storm Nordwind: Goodnight Wool
Woolcinder Oxidor: Bye Storm , Eden
Eden Haiku: Bye Woolcinder, always nice to see you :)
After all the silly ones have left (hum, hum…maybe should edit all these profound comments of mine about the Teletubbies…), Storm and I glide into a conversation about practices and poetry.
--BELL--
Eden Haiku: How have you been?
Storm Nordwind: Oh fine thank you. I'm very conscious at the moment of putting together a sustainable practice as a result of my retreat
Eden Haiku: Oh, how nice. How do you do that? Sittings?
Storm Nordwind: A variety of things yes. Include sittings.
Eden Haiku: Say more?
Storm Nordwind: I have installed a timer on the laptop (at last)!
Storm Nordwind: But it's set to 2 hours not 15 minutes!
Eden Haiku: Oh!
Storm Nordwind: That's a short 6 times a day practice. I have the timer play me the 100 syllable Vajrasattva mantra, and it never fails to make a big shift in consciousness
Eden Haiku: Oh, it is the mantra we can listen to in your temple?
Storm Nordwind: Yes, it the one that goes:OM VAJRA SATTVA SAMAYA MANU PALAYA VAJRA SATTVA TENOPA TIKTA DRIDHO ME BHAWA SUTO KHAYO ME BHAWA SUPO KHAYO ME BHAWA ANU RAKTO ME BHAWA SARWA SIDDHI ME PRAYATSA SARWA KARMA SUTSA ME TSITAM SHRIYAM KURU HUNG HA HA HA HA HO BHAGAWAN SARWA TATHAGATA VAJRA MAMEMUNTSA VAJRI BHAWA MAHA SAMAYA SATTVA AH
Eden Haiku: oh, thanks...Would love to hear you say it....
Always courteous, Storm kindly recites the mantras on voice.
Eden Haiku: Ah! thank you so much! It was nice hearing it!
Eden Haiku: I can tell the "ha" at the end is very uplifting!
Storm Nordwind: Yes it is!
Eden Haiku: How would you describe the effect of it?
Storm Nordwind: The whole mantra is supposed to be purifying
Storm Nordwind: And the feeling is like being scrubbed clean! :)
Eden Haiku: Nice!
Eden Haiku: I miss all the chanting of when I was living in an ashram...
Storm Nordwind: There are other short sadhanas (rituals) that I want to do every day. But the meditation and preparatory practices for that are the main thing I'm trying to integrate daily
Storm Nordwind: 'Sustainable' is important though.
Eden Haiku: yes...
Storm Nordwind: I'm such an impulsive person, that that will be a change for me! ;)
Eden Haiku: keeping the practices fresh and feasable every day...
Eden Haiku: So you recite these mantras every 2 hours? And what else?
Storm Nordwind: The effect of the mantra and the short 4 line sadhana that I do after it is astonishing. The feeling afterwards makes me wonder why I haven't done it before!
Eden Haiku: What is the short 4 line sadhana, if you can share that?
--BELL--
Storm Nordwind: The 4 line is a condensation of a restatenent of the 5 Buddha family vows
Storm Nordwind: (There are 19 commitments in those)
Eden Haiku: Oh wow!
Storm Nordwind: And the timer just went off - wonderful! :))
Storm Nordwind: There's another short sadhana - takes about 7 minutes - that I also want to do every day.
Eden Haiku: yes?
Storm Nordwind: And there's something called ngondro (pronounced nundro) that is a set of practices you build up to do tens of thousands of times!
Storm Nordwind: But the meditation - that's the most important things
Eden Haiku: Oh my god!!! Storm! What about your flying carpet practices! Will you have any time left for playfullness?
Storm Nordwind: hehe!
Storm Nordwind: I am incorrigibly playful!
Storm Nordwind: Or hadn't you noticed? ;)
Eden Haiku: I know you have many skills and are multitalented but beware of burning out!
Storm Nordwind: Oh I know all about burn out
Eden Haiku: You do?
Storm Nordwind: That's why I said sustainable
Storm Nordwind: But balancing that, I'm also very lazy and easily distracted
Eden Haiku: Ah, so you are enthusiastic but cautious, that is a good thing.
Eden Haiku: Good protection mechanisms, being lazy and easily distracted :)
Storm Nordwind: I have an amazing opportunity now - not just the notion of the precious human life - but the teachings and the opportunity to practice
Eden Haiku: Yes, I see you found some treasure up there
Storm Nordwind: I know I squander such opportunities, and have done in the past - (hence my stay at Ganden!)
Storm Nordwind: (which was a result of previous squandering I found)
Storm Nordwind: So I have to find the middle way, yes
Eden Haiku: You were also experiencing some things at a very intuitive level I kind of recall?
Storm Nordwind: Yes
Storm Nordwind: But I will still find time for poetry :)
Storm Nordwind: haiku and gogyohka are great!
Eden Haiku: Must be good to have found a practice to sustain that level of receptivity.
Storm Nordwind: Yes. I've found (for me) an unmatchable teacher - at last. That's a big help! :)
Storm Nordwind: It's something I used to hear and talk about decades ago
Storm Nordwind: That the 'grace' or 'blessings' of a teacher, the right teacher for you, actually makes a huge difference
Storm Nordwind: And now I've found it to be true
Eden Haiku: Yes, it does.
Eden Haiku: What about this 7 minutes sadhana?
Storm Nordwind: Oh just some Tibetan stuff I do ;)
Eden Haiku: :)))
Eden Haiku: Your practice of haikus and gogyohka has been really inspiring Storm!
Storm Nordwind: You're very kind Eden :)
Eden Haiku: I'm still feeling awkward with the gogyohka...
Storm Nordwind: Perhaps if one in twenty is a worthy offering, then I'm happy :)
Storm Nordwind: I found reading the poems on "Gogyohka Junction" has given me a great feel for it
Eden Haiku: Yes, it is a good practice not to be attached to the result. You write it and then it sorts itself out in some way...
Storm Nordwind: yes!
--BELL--
Eden Haiku: So your Mom passed away in the last year, I gathered from one of your short poems?
Storm Nordwind: Many people from the Anglicised version of the Japanese tanka tradition have take to gogyohka very easily
Storm Nordwind: Yes she did. On June 1st
Eden Haiku: Oh, sad. But then she left with a blessing…:)
Storm Nordwind: The blessing she gave was one of freedom.
Eden Haiku: The best blessing ever!
Storm Nordwind: I think I should go to the Post Office. Some important auction packages needing to be sent!
