And so we do indeed sit quietly, simply being, for many minutes. Then we start off talking about bread-making!

Storm Nordwind: Well I've been a little poorly for that last day or two - nothing serious though. Still smiling! :)

Storm Nordwind: Oh! Yes. :) You like rye bread, or baking?
Lucinda Lavender: My husband bakes all our bread now...he has a recipe that has become easy to do...

Storm Nordwind: When my wife celebrated 25 years at her position at a hospital in Denver, they gave her a gift voucher, and we chose a breadmaker. So it does all the kneading and I do all the priming and intuiting the recipes!

Lucinda Lavender: I have heard of intuiting a recipe...It reminds of something I read where it was suggested that the cook "listen to what the food sugggests be done"

Dowsing the recipe.

Storm Nordwind: I was a little more technical than that, and dowsed it! :)

Lucinda Lavender: now this dowsing...was it with a special item?
Storm Nordwind: Dowsing is a generic umbrella term. The most well known sub-category of dowsing is probably water divining.

Storm Nordwind: So my intuition said "You need such and such an ingredient" and then the dowsing told me exactly how much

Storm Nordwind: No I gave up the pendulum in the 1970s. I just use my eyes. The rods and pendulum are like everything else, mere mechanical amplifiers. So if you can be sensitive to minute physical changes, then you don't need those tools

Magic and probability. We talk and at the same time try and alleviate Arch's hiccups. Arch seemed to be having a lot of difficult this morning, and I'm sure he won't mind my graying out some of his comments.

Storm Nordwind: People try to judge "magic" as they would a science. Quite wrong to do that IMHO. It's a social science if anything, and the only way to look a social science, I suspect, is with probabilities.

Lucinda asks about the sound of the mantra. I assume she's talking about the one I mentioned inside the little temple, but in retrospect I see she could have meant the sound from the prayer wheels. (If the latter, then you just keep clicking them, many times rapidly, to get some momentum going.)

Storm Nordwind: If you do listen sometime Sharon, please make sure you're in there for a least a couple of minutes before you click on the floor. The mantra is two sounds joined together and they need a while to load

Storm Nordwind: Dropping clouds one by one is possible, and it can give great confidence. But I think one may also be able to get confidence in knowing that there's a clear sky behind everything
