The Guardian for this meeting was Storm Nordwind. The comments are by Storm Nordwind.
Storm Nordwind: Good morning Lucinda :)
Lucinda Lavender: Good Morning...
Storm Nordwind: How are you today?
Lucinda Lavender: Sleepy as of yet...
Storm Nordwind: Oh! If you'd just like to sit and Be, that's OK by me :)
Lucinda Lavender: Sometimes if I wake in the night I donot get back to sleep for an hour:)
Lucinda Lavender: thanks yes ...Be...
Lucinda Lavender: How are you today Storm?
Storm Nordwind: Well I've been a little poorly for that last day or two - nothing serious though. Still smiling! :)
Lucinda Lavender: :)
Lucinda Lavender: I believe I read about rye bread!!!
Storm Nordwind: Oh! Yes. :) You like rye bread, or baking?
Lucinda Lavender: My husband bakes all our bread now...he has a recipe that has become easy to do...
Lucinda Lavender: called no knead...
Storm Nordwind: When my wife celebrated 25 years at her position at a hospital in Denver, they gave her a gift voucher, and we chose a breadmaker. So it does all the kneading and I do all the priming and intuiting the recipes!
Lucinda Lavender: lovely...
SophiaSharon Larnia: good morning :)
Storm Nordwind: Good morning Sharon :)
Lucinda Lavender: there is almost no kneading in our recipe either
Lucinda Lavender: hi sharon
SophiaSharon Larnia: hi Storm and Lucinda
Storm Nordwind notes he is surrounded by two contrasting hair colors, Lucinda like snow and Sharon like flame!
Lucinda Lavender: :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: ha! smiles
Storm Nordwind: Intuiting a recipe is wonderful. Just letting go and trusting. Very much like playing as being :)
--BELL--
SophiaSharon Larnia is a recipe by the numbers person ^^
Storm Nordwind: I'd have gone with someone else's numbers, but I couldn't find any! So I had to make them myself :)
Lucinda Lavender: I have heard of intuiting a recipe...It reminds of something I read where it was suggested that the cook "listen to what the food sugggests be done"
SophiaSharon Larnia: :)
Storm Nordwind is incorrigibly lazy
SophiaSharon Larnia: I would, if I didnt want to eat it
Storm Nordwind chuckles
Lucinda Lavender: "What is it asking for?".
Lucinda Lavender: :)
Storm Nordwind: I was a little more technical than that, and dowsed it! :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: dowsed?
Lucinda Lavender: now this dowsing...was it with a special item?
Storm Nordwind: Dowsing is a generic umbrella term. The most well known sub-category of dowsing is probably water divining.
SophiaSharon Larnia: nods, thats what I thought you meant
Lucinda Lavender: yes
SophiaSharon Larnia: very interesting
Storm Nordwind: So my intuition said "You need such and such an ingredient" and then the dowsing told me exactly how much
Lucinda Lavender: I think I am wondering if you used a pendulum...
SophiaSharon Larnia pictures a pendulum swinging all over the kitchen
Lucinda Lavender: :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: get back here, you pesky pendulum
Storm Nordwind: No I gave up the pendulum in the 1970s. I just use my eyes. The rods and pendulum are like everything else, mere mechanical amplifiers. So if you can be sensitive to minute physical changes, then you don't need those tools
SophiaSharon Larnia: nods
Storm Nordwind: Good morning Arch.
Lucinda Lavender: lovely...
Lucinda Lavender: hi Arch
SophiaSharon Larnia: thats how I feel about magic in general, not that this really fits in that catagory, o(or anything does lol ^^)
Archmage Atlantis: HICCIUPS
SophiaSharon Larnia: hi Arch
SophiaSharon Larnia passes Arch a glass of water
SophiaSharon Larnia: HI Eliza :)
Storm Nordwind: Magic would seem to be a more general term. Perhaps it is a group of methods to affect the probability of such occurence?
Lucinda Lavender: Lucinda says "Boo!"
Storm Nordwind chuckles
SophiaSharon Larnia: giggles
Archmage Atlantis: Why are we male and fe\
SophiaSharon Larnia: maybe, mind over matter
Eliza Madrigal: Hi Sharon, Storm, Lucinda, & Arch! :)) (with apologies for tardiness)
Lucinda Lavender: HI Eliza!
SophiaSharon Larnia: ru row, Storms got his hammer out
Storm Nordwind: Good morning Eliza!
SophiaSharon Larnia: likes the idea of it being probablities :))
Archmage Atlantis: i got hit o
Lucinda Lavender: Yes...moving slowly enough to notice the details about how the food is changing and how possibility figures in
SophiaSharon Larnia: snap Eliza, you look cute ^^
Eliza Madrigal: I'm not the only one Sharon... wonderful red hair!
Eliza Madrigal: (and thanks) :)
SophiaSharon Larnia loves group gifts haha
Storm Nordwind: People try to judge "magic" as they would a science. Quite wrong to do that IMHO. It's a social science if anything, and the only way to look a social science, I suspect, is with probabilities.
Archmage Atlantis: zI meant my
Lucinda Lavender: Is there a certain question you are asking then...or guessing at?
Eliza Madrigal: There is this book I like... _Jonathan Strange and Mr Norell_ , and one of the first lines in it is that "There are books about magic, and books of magic .. with few being able to tell the difference..."
Archmage Atlantis: wL parter hit e
Lucinda Lavender: :)
Archmage Atlantis: with an
Archmage Atlantis: wo haaaaaaamr
Eliza Madrigal thinks hammers are probably not great for keyboards?
Storm Nordwind: Unless they're in a piano! :)
Eliza Madrigal: :))
SophiaSharon Larnia: Agree Strom, but need time to think about that one
--BELL--
Lucinda Lavender: :))
Archmage Atlantis: liks piajp\
Archmage Atlantis: and guitar
Archmage Atlantis: amfukr
SophiaSharon Larnia: PB & J?? ;p
Eliza Madrigal: Today I am noting pauses, and just jotted down : "In PaB, probably"
SophiaSharon Larnia: smiles
SophiaSharon Larnia: im going to a music festival on saturday, i think itll be fun to try it there
SophiaSharon Larnia: not that i cant do it today :))
Storm Nordwind chuckles
Storm Nordwind imagines Sharon's timer going off and everyone saying "ssssshhhh!!!!"
Eliza Madrigal: heheh
SophiaSharon Larnia: laughs
SophiaSharon Larnia: I have a feeling the music will be loud enough no one will notice
Eliza Madrigal: maybe not even you
Eliza Madrigal: ;-)
SophiaSharon Larnia: :)
Eliza Madrigal: Sounds fun
SophiaSharon Larnia: brb :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: I'll put the phone on vibrate haha
Lucinda Lavender: I have been enjoying the cricket sound...on the ipod touch
Eliza Madrigal: vibrate seems really smart, and crickets too!
SophiaSharon Larnia: :)
Storm Nordwind uses a laptop application to play the same mantra as in the lhakhang on his guardian plot
SophiaSharon Larnia: ohh (wants to get up and listen) :)
Eliza Madrigal: My phone has a very limited alarm feature like most, but I can set up to 4 alarms at once... but then have to reset each time....
Eliza Madrigal: Ah, I wandered over there the other day, Storm! I enjoy turning those wheels... so calming
SophiaSharon Larnia: me too Eliza, Ive been thinking how to do it on my phone, I dont have an iphone (i cant rationalize the purchase)
Lucinda Lavender: To listen to the mantra...at the plot, how does one keep it going?
Archmage Atlantis: The white frogs are singing
SophiaSharon Larnia: ribbit
Storm Nordwind: If you do listen sometime Sharon, please make sure you're in there for a least a couple of minutes before you click on the floor. The mantra is two sounds joined together and they need a while to load
Archmage Atlantis: New life
SophiaSharon Larnia: oooh thanks :))
Storm Nordwind: Lucinda, the mantra only sounds once. These joined up sounds are quite tricky to synchronize in a loop!
Archmage Atlantis: soon to be tadpoles
Lucinda Lavender: was not sure what to click on...floor?
Storm Nordwind: yes the floor. Provided you're not sitting on something else, it also runs an animation
Lucinda Lavender: ok
Lucinda Lavender: thanks
Archmage Atlantis: Ad tjrit [strmd ergr
Eliza Madrigal: an animation which btw, I meant to comment on also... very fluid/smooth
SophiaSharon Larnia giggles for no reason
Eliza Madrigal: heheheh
Storm Nordwind chuckles
Eliza Madrigal giggles when others giggle
SophiaSharon Larnia does too!
--BELL--
Storm Nordwind observes that happiness is infectious, bringing either happiness or resentment to the listener
Archmage Atlantis: SL it only id
SophiaSharon Larnia: yes, seeing someone happy when your devastated can rub one the wrong way
Archmage Atlantis: Reaches out and touches you all, rvrn
Archmage Atlantis: Mr Storm
SophiaSharon Larnia: keep your hands to yourself
SophiaSharon Larnia: whoops
Storm Nordwind smiles
Storm Nordwind: I notice Pema has posted a "20 day" update. So inspiring I find!
SophiaSharon Larnia: it doesnt help much to know that the unhappiness can be traced to desiring something
SophiaSharon Larnia: at least for me personally, not a general statement
Archmage Atlantis: keeping hands to self
Storm Nordwind: Perhaps it helps people at the start Sharon, if they've never considered that before (as I imagine many haven't). After that, perhaps you need to know more of "Well, that's fine but how would I change it?"
SophiaSharon Larnia: nods
Eliza Madrigal: it was really helpful to me when I stopped 'trying to not desire'
SophiaSharon Larnia: i see i was trying to 'drop' everything, i cant, i can only do one at a time
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Storm Nordwind: A serial dropper? :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: what is so confusing to me about, starting at the end
Eliza Madrigal: Nice to see you Lucinda :) Have a nice day
Lucinda Lavender: Lucinda is quietly leaving for now...take care all...
Storm Nordwind waves
SophiaSharon Larnia: Bye Lucinda!\
SophiaSharon Larnia: well, seriels, sequels, and continuations of the last story LOL
Eliza Madrigal: spirals :)
SophiaSharon Larnia: nods
Storm Nordwind: Dropping clouds one by one is possible, and it can give great confidence. But I think one may also be able to get confidence in knowing that there's a clear sky behind everything
SophiaSharon Larnia: feels the sense of that deep in the bones :)
Archmage Atlantis: need to go too myself, night all
Eliza Madrigal: Ah, yes... dwelling in that idea... then the clouds come and go by themselves
SophiaSharon Larnia: bye Arch :)
Eliza Madrigal: (as they were anyway)
Storm Nordwind: Bye Arch :)
Eliza Madrigal: Bye Arch :)
Eliza Madrigal: some clouds are really intense... really scary, too
SophiaSharon Larnia: overcast-like
Storm Nordwind: Yes
Storm Nordwind: That's why some people work better, at least for a while, with the idea that there's a process, like progression along a path, rather than a being there in an instant
Eliza Madrigal: and if it goes on for a few days one might begin to forget that the clear blue is there ... so we give ourselves reminders ..
Eliza Madrigal: Ah, yes process :)
SophiaSharon Larnia aganin mentions the recipe by numbers
Storm Nordwind: The process is illusory. But it can help sometimes! :)
Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: recipe by numbers?
Storm Nordwind: We were talking about bread recipes earlier :)
Eliza Madrigal: MMmm
SophiaSharon Larnia: ah just a reference from earlier, cooking by instinct vs recipe :)
Eliza Madrigal: Nice!
Storm Nordwind: A kind of follow-on from my session with Steve last night
Storm Nordwind wonders whether he is just loafing about here ;)
--BELL--
SophiaSharon Larnia: well, gotta go and get my driver license picture taken, 4 yrs alrady ^^
Eliza Madrigal grew up down the street from a Holsum Bakery... the neighborhood would be permeated by the scent
Eliza Madrigal: ((Sharon)) Bye, smile big :)
Storm Nordwind: Bye Sharon
SophiaSharon Larnia: laughs
Eliza Madrigal: Okay... am inspired. Time to go the store and buy zucchini or banana bread ingredients
Storm Nordwind: Great to see you inspired - and inspiring Eliza. Thank you for being here! :)
Eliza Madrigal: (though I suppose that's more like a cake)
Eliza Madrigal: Thanks Storm :) Hope you are beginning to feel better
Storm Nordwind: Thank you! See you again soon :)
Eliza Madrigal: Bfn _/!\_
Storm Nordwind waves
Archmage Atlantis: Gottaaa go
