2010.07.18 08:00 - Guardian Session: How Many Ways

There were ten guardians present for this weekly session: Adams, Agatha, Bleu, Eliza, Eos, Maxine, Pema, Riddle, Sharon, and Yakuzza.

 We touched on a number of topics including Art as Being, Starting at the End, and Different Kinds of Sessions. Any actual structure was unintentional I assure you. One strange string is that we seemed to flash back to the 70s decade a few times...

Yakuzza's Friday Voice Session is a hit, and we talk about other ways to play with session forms...

Eliza Madrigal: In many ways it is the same... bumps and blurts occur but we learn one another's rhythms...
Eos Amaterasu: Oh, just what you've observerd regarding interruptions while talking - has it been a problem?
SophiaSharon Larnia: yes, regular conversational manners would apply :)
Yakuzza Lethecus: It wasn´t a big issue so far, we were never more then 6 ppl during the voice sessions

Yakuzza Lethecus: when eden is there and a discussion comes up i am delighted to listen as i read most of the time in the local chat around here :)
Yakuzza Lethecus: It´s just a discussion like in real life even when the latency of the voice sometimes creates an "overspeaking" problem between the avatars
Yakuzza Lethecus: but not too bothering, only when ppl aren´t used to headsets and the audio features of secondlife there can be a problem
Yakuzza Lethecus: but i like the depth and the nonrecorded character of the discussions

Pema Pera: it's a great idea to try out different ways of communicating!
Bleu Oleander: yes
Yakuzza Lethecus: i can just "say" what´s on my mind, maybe i am just more auditive
Yakuzza Lethecus: i can´t delete what i just wrote and nobody will be able to copy past the chatlog when i did a fauxpais :)
Bleu Oleander: not as many typos
Eliza Madrigal: It is a little tricky because unlike in RL one can't give a real visual cue... so I imagine that with a larger group some kind of signal system might be useful
SophiaSharon Larnia: yes, the possibility for less censoring before you speak... sort of
Yakuzza Lethecus: of course ppl could record, but ppl are even logging all the chat at every time even tho it´s not published

Eliza Madrigal: it is playing with forms... like the dream sessions which have a more 'formal' structure. Each kind of session seems to draw out something different

Eliza Madrigal: We've had a few 'story telling' kind of sessions, spontaneously... and some of us were thinking we might play with that a bit more... perhaps in the pub :)
