The Guardian for this meeting was Aphrodite Macbain. The comments and highlighting are by Aphrodite Macbain.

    Aphrodite Macbain: Hi Bruce
    Aphrodite Macbain: GTSY
    Bruce Mowbray: Hi. Aph!
Bruce Mowbray: Good to see you too.
    Aphrodite Macbain: You're LOOKING well
    Bruce Mowbray: :)
Aphrodite Macbain: Are you going to change your (GOC) time to today from Tuesday?
Bruce Mowbray: Don't know, Aph. Too much is up in the air right now.
Bruce Mowbray: You already have a new session scheduled for yourself, right?
Aphrodite Macbain: yes, beginning next Sunday (Jan 15)
    Bruce Mowbray: Hmmmm.
Aphrodite Macbain: I wont be here beginning next Saturday because I have a class
Bruce Mowbray: Has anyone else taken this one yet?
Aphrodite Macbain: I don’t think so. I haven't seen anything
Bruce Mowbray: Well, what if I just began taking your Saturday sessions -- and didn't claim the Tuesdays?
Aphrodite Macbain: Would this time work for you?
Bruce Mowbray: Yes,, better than Tues, actually.
Aphrodite Macbain: That would be good- tho I'd make an email announcement to all Pabbers
    Bruce Mowbray: kk.

Bruce Mowbray: From all those photos, it looks like there was a wild time here yesterday.
Aphrodite Macbain: yes, it was a lot of fun.
Aphrodite Macbain: There seemed to a general need to bust out
    Aphrodite Macbain: nice shirt
    Bruce Mowbray: ty.

    Bruce Mowbray: Hi, Korel.
    Korel Laloix: osiyo
Bruce Mowbray: How ya doing, Kori?
    Korel Laloix: Traumatized.
    Bruce Mowbray: you too?
    Aphrodite Macbain: Hi Kori! Why?
    Korel Laloix: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YCzd7rMiuD8

    Bruce Mowbray: what's happening, Kori?
Korel Laloix: Just watching a video... lol
    Aphrodite Macbain: It's traumatizing?
Korel Laloix:Springtime for Hitler... yes... Traumatizing...
Aphrodite Macbain: Oh right. :-) I haven’t seen it
Bruce Mowbray: That vid has been blocked in America for copyright reasons.
Korel Laloix: Works for me... odd
Korel Laloix: But I do go through a proxy.
Bruce Mowbray: Can't get it here...
Bruce Mowbray: strange that you can get it in OK.
    Korel Laloix: Ok.
Korel Laloix: SO what are you up to today?

    Health issues etc

Bruce Mowbray: Oh, just working through a few health issues.
Aphrodite Macbain: Who else has a cold?
Korel Laloix: Had the flu a couple of weeks ago.
Korel Laloix: Was very not fun.
Aphrodite Macbain: Mine won’t go away
Korel Laloix: I was in hospital for three day and was really out of it for a week afterwards.
Korel Laloix: Was another 10 days or so until I was back full running again.
Bruce Mowbray: wow! All of my friends have colds, too and they stay and stay.
Aphrodite Macbain: but compared to Bruce - we are very healthy!
    Bruce Mowbray: ;-)
Korel Laloix: I am actually feeling very right right now...
Korel Laloix: Hope you get well soon.

    Korel Laloix: Blessed that way.

    Bruce Mowbray: Hey, Multiverse.
    Korel Laloix: Bozho

Multiverse1 Resident: Hi Aphrodite, Bruce and Korel

    Aphrodite Macbain: Hi Multi

Aphrodite Macbain: I've hardly been out in 3 days
    Aphrodite Macbain: getting very bored
Korel Laloix: I know that frustration.
Korel Laloix: Don’t want to do anything but bored.
Multiverse1 Resident: I had a cold for three days , started Christmas morning
Bruce Mowbray: I don't understand why I have not caught it yet - - unless it's because I'm a hermit.
Multiverse1 Resident: takes out your physical being as well as mentally
Korel Laloix: I get that every once in a while as well, not sure what it means.
    Bruce Mowbray: :)
Multiverse1 Resident: stay a hermit then Bruce
Aphrodite Macbain: you get what Korel?
    --BELL--
Aphrodite Macbain: Bruce- you don’t catch anything - it's stuff your body creates for you
    Multiverse1 Resident: hmmm
    Korel Laloix: Odd YouTube messages.
Bruce Mowbray: So, how is that, Aph?
Aphrodite Macbain: I mean that as a hermit, you will rarely catch diseases from anyone
Aphrodite Macbain: and most of your ailments will either be wear and tear or auto-immune related.
Bruce Mowbray: yeppers, that's how it works.
Bruce Mowbray: Unfortunately, when I do catch a cold, it's usually quite rough, though.
Aphrodite Macbain: so you don’t get just colds like us- only pneumonia!!
    Multiverse1 Resident: arg
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, that's what I mean.
Multiverse1 Resident: not a pleasant thought there
Aphrodite Macbain: Perhaps your immune system isn't strong
Bruce Mowbray: Yeah, Multi, I caught Legionnaire’s Disease last June.
    Bruce Mowbray: (in New York).
Aphrodite Macbain: was that what it was Bruce?
Aphrodite Macbain: I thought it was pneumonia
Bruce Mowbray: Was in hospital for ten days with that.
Multiverse1 Resident: upon re-entry you may get super-exposure then
    Multiverse1 Resident: New Hampshire here
Bruce Mowbray: Legionnaire's Disease IS pneumonia, Aph.
    Multiverse1 Resident: oh
Bruce Mowbray: My diagnosis was "acute a-typical pneumonia."
Aphrodite Macbain: oh OK it is one of the causes of pneumonia?
Korel Laloix: Just a very specific strain.
Multiverse1 Resident: I did catch it then
    Multiverse1 Resident: in Feb.
    Aphrodite Macbain: last Feb?
    Multiverse1 Resident: yepper
Bruce Mowbray: Legionnaire’s is caused by the legionella bacterium.
    Aphrodite Macbain: damn Legionnaires
    Bruce Mowbray: :)
Multiverse1 Resident: no sorry, bad multi. Flu, Flu Flu.
Korel Laloix: If I recall right, named after them because the first real outbreak was from an American Legion Convention.
Multiverse1 Resident: never had pneumonia to my knowledge
Bruce Mowbray: Unless they can isolate the actual bacterium, they cannot call it Legionnaire's (for the purpose of records, etc.)
Korel Laloix: The hotel air conditioing system was bad.
Bruce Mowbray: Which principle should be apply?
Bruce Mowbray: yeppers, Kori, that's what causes it.

Multiverse1 Resident: going to cancel my reservation

How do we work with being sick?

Aphrodite Macbain: so how do we think about being sick if we apply the principles of PAB?
Aphrodite Macbain: Could we drop our concern about it?
    Bruce Mowbray: Hmmmm. . . .
Bruce Mowbray: I guess we could try to "drop" it....
Bruce Mowbray: or at least drop our judgments about it.
Aphrodite Macbain: Could we see our connection with others in the universe that have a disease?
Bruce Mowbray: Yes, I have been doing that, Aph. . .
Aphrodite Macbain: what sort of judgments Bruce?
Bruce Mowbray: well, I just mean the usual preferences and prejudices.... about disease or anything else.
Multiverse1 Resident: I dread the thought, since I am mostly blessed with minor ailments
Bruce Mowbray: yes, me too, Multi.
Aphrodite Macbain: I was wondering how a beginners mind would approach being sick
Bruce Mowbray: I'd never been in the hospital for anything until I was 69.
Multiverse1 Resident: my small aches and arthritis are a comfort compared to some I know
Bruce Mowbray: Perhaps, "Hmm. There is an interesting feeling."
Aphrodite Macbain: Perhaps focusing on the positive elements
    Aphrodite Macbain: feeling?
Multiverse1 Resident: focus ahead then, Aphrodite
Bruce Mowbray: The pains and discomforts that come along with illness are usually survival-oriented, though.

Aphrodite Macbain: survival oriented? Could you say more?
Bruce Mowbray: They help us to know that something is "wrong."
    Aphrodite Macbain: right
Bruce Mowbray: so we will do something about it -- thus aiding our survival.
Aphrodite Macbain: yes, pain is a handy warning system
    Bruce Mowbray: yeppers.
Aphrodite Macbain: I guess the thing to do is not complain but act in some way that makes it better and take steps to prevent it happening in the future

Aphrodite Macbain: Like now I don’t feel guilty staying inside and reading a book
    Multiverse1 Resident: aph
Multiverse1 Resident: Can inspire some to rise very high actually
    Multiverse1 Resident: true warriors

    MS Breakthroughs

Multiverse1 Resident: breakthroughs in Multiple Sclerosis were a news item this week
    Bruce Mowbray: really, say more.
Multiverse1 Resident: a woman who hadn't spoken in 30 years was able to
    Bruce Mowbray: Wow!
    Aphrodite Macbain: no kidding! Where?
Multiverse1 Resident: yes, it is based on brain wave study
Korel Laloix: Would like to read about that.
    Aphrodite Macbain: me too
Multiverse1 Resident: will try to get the link at 9 secs
Aphrodite Macbain: where did you read about it Multi?
    Multiverse1 Resident: abc tv
    Aphrodite Macbain: oh, hmm
Aphrodite Macbain: I'm sure it is in other news media
    Aphrodite Macbain: Hi Steve
    stevenaia Michinaga: waves
Aphrodite Macbain: we are talking about being sick and how we would approach that state as good Pabbers
stevenaia Michinaga: depends on how you view illness :)
Aphrodite Macbain: most of us have/have had colds and Bruce is facing some more serious conditions
Bruce Mowbray looks around for Steve.

    --BELL--
Korel Laloix: There is also emotional illness.

    Aphrodite Macbain: yes 90 seconds...
Korel Laloix: That lagged into the break.. sorry

stevenaia Michinaga: exactly, anything that is out of balance
stevenaia Michinaga: the approach should consider what will get you back in balance, physically, mentally, emotionally

    stevenaia Michinaga: hello Zon
    Aphrodite Macbain: Hiya Zon
Aphrodite Macbain: we are talking about approaches to being sick
    Zon Kwan: hi

Korel Laloix: Balance is a very easy word to say or type.. Much more difficult to even work toward though.
    Aphrodite Macbain: nods
Multiverse1 Resident: sorry couldn't find the ms link
    Multiverse1 Resident: will try later
Multiverse1 Resident: Hi Zon and stevenaia
    Korel Laloix: NO worries.

stevenaia Michinaga: outside pressures, stress forces outside you can make you ill, so how do you "deal" with them, let them go, make them go away?
Aphrodite Macbain: I suppose one could consider sickness as an opportunity to learn more, to change one's lifestyle, to act in a new way, to become aware and more compassionate of others who are sick.
stevenaia Michinaga: usually the cure is rest... which releases you from those outside forces
Multiverse1 Resident: I have seen great courage among some

    Alfred Kelberry: hi :)
    Aphrodite Macbain: Hi Boxy.
    Zon Kwan: hi alf
    stevenaia Michinaga: waves to Boxy
Bruce Mowbray: Hey, steve, zon, and Boxy.
    Multiverse1 Resident: Hi alf

Alfred Kelberry: multi, you become a regular :)
Multiverse1 Resident: never has anyone called me "regular" except at a bar perhaps Aphrodite Macbain: Indeed

Aphrodite Macbain hands Multi a beer

Alfred Kelberry: things change, multi :)

    Korel Laloix: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-16086004

    Korel Laloix: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-16362314

    Aphrodite Macbain: Thanks Kori
    Korel Laloix: And a video.

    Multiverse1 Resident: Yeah Korel!
Aphrodite Macbain: great- Korel very interesting. listens to video: “Just try to enjoy everyday”
Alfred Kelberry: oh, cure for sclerosis - very cool
Multiverse1 Resident: yes this one regained sight!
    Aphrodite Macbain: amazing
    Aphrodite Macbain: triggering stem cells
Aphrodite Macbain: things are really going to change with stem cell research
Alfred Kelberry: kori will invent a cure for some lethal disease too
    Multiverse1 Resident: amazing results too!

Aphrodite Macbain: I'm glad to see you're having some milk Bruce
    Bruce Mowbray dies from laughing....
    Aphrodite Macbain: lots of calcium

    Aphrodite Macbain: hmmm maybe not
    Multiverse1 Resident: vitamin D
Aphrodite Macbain: that too, but it needs to be added

    Zen Arado: Hi all
    Multiverse1 Resident: Hi Zen
    Aphrodite Macbain: Hi Zen.
    Bruce Mowbray: Hey, Zen.
    Zon Kwan: zen, tha man

Aphrodite Macbain: We're talking about being healthy- or not
Alfred Kelberry: milk is fun unless you're lactose intolerant :)
Zen Arado: I'm reading about diet after what Wester said
Multiverse1 Resident: excluding the mental factor.

Aphrodite Macbain: mind/body - they are one
Aphrodite Macbain: What new have you learned Zen?
Korel Laloix: I am very Lactose intolerant... but Lactaid works well for most things.
Multiverse1 Resident: we "are" what we eat?
Zen Arado: reading a book called 'Why we get fat' by Gary Taubes

Aphrodite Macbain: I suppose there are many reasons Zen

Bruce Mowbray: Wester lost a lot of weight on the Atkins diet.
Zon Kwan: we are what we think
    Aphrodite Macbain smiles at Zon

Alfred Kelberry: kori, good to know
Zen Arado: yes seems carbohydrates are main cause
    Bruce Mowbray: yep, carbs.
Aphrodite Macbain: too much sugar in many forms
Zen Arado: book explodes many food myths
Multiverse1 Resident: yes an elephant is not fat until you tell it so
Aphrodite Macbain: but then it would remember it forever

Zen Arado: still reading it tho
Zon Kwan: agrees with zen, sugar...
Zen Arado: exercising not much use
Aphrodite Macbain: it burns calories tho
Zen Arado: cos you get hungry and eat more
Alfred Kelberry: each new diet book debunks the previous book myths :)
Multiverse1 Resident: white sugar, as Korel said a few days ago
stevenaia Michinaga: best to keep writing, stay ahead of the curve
Zen Arado: yeh..have at back of my mind how many of these theories there are
Korel Laloix: And I read stuff on how to gain weight... lol.. life is funny.
    Multiverse1 Resident: processed foods also
Aphrodite Macbain: a balanced diet is what is needed I think. We need all of the various food groups for a healthy body
Bruce Mowbray: The trick, it seems to me, is not to put in what you can't burn off and keep it balanced, of course.
Alfred Kelberry: kori, cakes don't work?
Bruce Mowbray: Aphrodite Macbain: and as we get older... sigh
Zen Arado: well I am going to cut down on carbohydrates and see what happens
    Aphrodite Macbain pats her tummy
    Zon Kwan: old..never

    stevenaia Michinaga: g2g, (for dinner)
    Aphrodite Macbain: eat well Stevenaia

    Alfred Kelberry: Aph is young
Multiverse1 Resident: Kori has a need to run though, if I am not mistaken
Korel Laloix: I run too much.

Bruce Mowbray: I also, g2g, folks.
Bruce Mowbray: I will take this session next week.
    Multiverse1 Resident: See you

    Bruce Mowbray: THANKS, Aph.
Alfred Kelberry: multi, good point. All cakes get burned :)
    Multiverse1 Resident: don't encounter bacteria
    Aphrodite Macbain: Bye
Aphrodite Macbain: Bye! Bruce. I will be at the Sunday session instead
    Bruce Mowbray: bye for now.
    Zen Arado: bye Bruce

Aphrodite Macbain: all cakes get burned???
Alfred Kelberry: kori, you should try beer and tv diet :)
    --BELL--
    Multiverse1 Resident: yes German beer
Aphrodite Macbain: 90 seconds coming up:
Alfred Kelberry: aph, when kori goes running
Zen Arado: carbs raise insulin levels that tell body not to burn fat
Korel Laloix: I am more of a wino.
Korel Laloix: And a tequila girl.
Zen Arado: wine, beer, soft drinks raise insulin levels dramatically
    Multiverse1 Resident: sugar in that!
Zon Kwan: yes. They transform sugar into fat
    Zen Arado: worst for us
    Zen Arado: (he says)
Zen Arado: as do refined flour products
    Zen Arado: pasta, cereals etc
    Zon Kwan: and potatoes

Korel Laloix: Back to the books.. thanks for the chat all.
Multiverse1 Resident: oh oh Kori's going to run
    Zen Arado: bye Korel
    Aphrodite Macbain: Bye
Aphrodite Macbain: Bye! Korel- take care and stop running!

Multiverse1 Resident: bye, it's a great release mechanism for some, a meditation of sorts
    Aphrodite Macbain: running? yes
Zen Arado: so...it's easy to lose weight...just cut down on carbs
    Multiverse1 Resident: I walk myself
Aphrodite Macbain: My favourite exercise is walking
    Aphrodite Macbain: snap!
Multiverse1 Resident: rarely gain and I do drink beer
Zen Arado: genetics play a part too
Aphrodite Macbain: Walking is really a good form of meditation also
Zen Arado: that book is interesting
Multiverse1 Resident: yes genetics are a key factor I think, and vocations can also play a part
    Zen Arado: quite scientific

    Baraka

Aphrodite Macbain: Has any one seen the film Baraka?
Zon Kwan: Baraka--what’s it about ?
Multiverse1 Resident: as we have already included avocations
Aphrodite Macbain: in it there is a monk who slowly walks thru the streets of a busy city, oblivious to the noise around him, holding his dorje and ringing his bell. It stays in my mind.
Aphrodite Macbain: It’s a series of beautiful images of people and places around the world.
Aphrodite Macbain: The film's vision is PaB's. To show how everyone is united and share the same universe.
Aphrodite Macbain: I have the DVD.
    Multiverse1 Resident: http://www.yidio.com/movie/baraka/12...FcNo4Aod6WR5_w

    Aphrodite Macbain: thanks Multi!
Multiverse1 Resident: I will check it out
Aphrodite Macbain: worth getting or seeing
    Multiverse1 Resident: sounds interesting
    Zen Arado: ty makes note
    Aphrodite Macbain: beautiful music.

Aphrodite Macbain: opens with one of those snow monkeys sitting in a hot pool with snow falling on it. S/he looks like he/she is meditating
Aphrodite Macbain: many of my friends found it boring as there was no narrative or voice over

Zen Arado: I just bought a movie too
    Zen Arado: http://teaser-trailer.com/leaves-of-...edward-norton/
Zen Arado: haven't watched it yet
Alfred Kelberry: bought? you can download instead :):
    Zon Kwan: edgar ?
    Zon Kwan: its interesting yes
    Aphrodite Macbain: edgar?
Alfred Kelberry: "An Ivy League professor (Norton)" - already funny :)

    Zon Kwan: ah..opened a wrong page..strange
Multiverse1 Resident: hehe Zen, couldn't resist
    Aphrodite Macbain: ??
    Alfred Kelberry: :)

Aphrodite Macbain: are we all talking about the same thing or are we experiencing multi universes?
    Multiverse1 Resident: non-importance
    Zen Arado: ty Multi

    Multiple universes and white holes

    Multiverse1 Resident: always the multi
Aphrodite Macbain: are there multi universes,Multi?
    Multiverse1 Resident: yes
    Multiverse1 Resident: they birth themselves

    Aphrodite Macbain: nice nose
    Multiverse1 Resident: pay boxy?
    Aphrodite Macbain: very squeezable

Aphrodite Macbain: they emerge from where?
    Aphrodite Macbain: our minds?
    Zon Kwan: white holes
Aphrodite Macbain: what's a white hole? I sort of know what a black hole is.
    Zon Kwan: its the opposite
Aphrodite Macbain: Do they exist or are they a concept?
Multiverse1 Resident: black holes in our universe create a white hole in a new one, or thinking further Zon, perhaps as we expand this one, the black hole at the center emits into a new galaxy during the expansion in our present one
    Zon Kwan: there..
Aphrodite Macbain: constant rebirth and dying. An endless cycle
Zon Kwan: and it happens on all levels
    Zon Kwan: all the time
Multiverse1 Resident: If you wish it I will show you, hang on.
    Aphrodite Macbain: show us?
    --BELL--
    Aphrodite Macbain: breathes out
Zon Kwan: that’s a white hole
    Zon Kwan: i breath in
Zon Kwan: its a black hole
Multiverse1 Resident: multi breathes in Aphrodite’s exhaust
    Multiverse1 Resident: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_hole

    Zen Arado: (slips away)
    Multiverse1 Resident: Bye Zen
    Aphrodite Macbain: waves at Zen
    Multiverse1 Resident: Sorry bell
    Zon Kwan: slips too
    Zon Kwan: waves
    Multiverse1 Resident: bye slip
    Aphrodite Macbain: waves at Zon

    Aphrodite Macbain: the stalwarts remain
Multiverse1 Resident: I am a wart now, hmmm
    Aphrodite Macbain: a wart...
    Aphrodite Macbain: a stalling wart?
Multiverse1 Resident: a still wart and still a wart then
Aphrodite Macbain: I think I'm off to find another universe.
Multiverse1 Resident: can give you Fecund universes too if you desire
    Aphrodite Macbain: lol
    Multiverse1 Resident: seriously
Aphrodite Macbain: I have enough with the one I have
    Multiverse1 Resident: bye Aph
    Aphrodite Macbain: :-)
