Qt Core: hi all
Santoshima Resident: hi Qt, and Zon
Santoshima Resident: suddenlty text is laggy
Santoshima Resident: not sure what happened
Qt Core: not here ... yet
Santoshima Resident: you?
Santoshima Resident: how are you, Qt?
Qt Core: not bad, as little tired, you ?
Zon Kwan: heya
Santoshima Resident: hi Zon
Qt Core: hi Zon
Zon Kwan: ah ... sry must go
Zon Kwan: waves
Qt Core: bye
Santoshima Resident: alas
Qt Core: noticing only now the theme of the week
Santoshima Resident: oh, yes
Qt Core: the first three words that come to me about others are fascinating, unpredictable (as singles) but then ... annoyance
Santoshima Resident: um, not wishing to fall into the category of "annoyance" ... care to say more?
Santoshima Resident: :)
Qt Core: it's quite simple, it's a matter of laziness, being alone is less tiring ;-)
Santoshima Resident: path of least resistance?

Qt Core: jokes aside while growing sometimes on my choice sometime else due to circumstances i didn't socialized much so i got accustomed to that
Santoshima Resident: have not been joking, and I do also recognize that
Santoshima Resident: solitariness
Qt Core: so i end up being more social on the net as i always have the "big red button" option
Santoshima Resident: i see
Qt Core: but then i get attached more to people i only know digital than many i know in flesh
Santoshima Resident: that seems more and more to be a way to be in community, via digital means
Santoshima Resident: not sure what to ask ... can you describe your online community, if you might call it that ... what is different?
Qt Core: don't really know, maybe the pool of people where you choose from or the fact that it seems more an active choice, they are not coworker, schoolmates people living next door

Wol Euler: hello qt, hello san
Santoshima Resident: hello Wol
Qt Core: hi Wol
Wol Euler: how are we on this fine Wednesday?
Santoshima Resident: well, thanks ~ albeit a little slow to respond
Santoshima Resident: a little tired, but holding steady
Santoshima Resident: middle of the working day
Qt Core: tired ... luckily at day end
Wol Euler: good :)
Santoshima Resident: you?
Wol Euler: about the same, had a good day and now cheerfully tired, looking foward to bed
Wol Euler: spent most of the day in Excel, working out quantities of materials for costing a project
Wol Euler: nothing like what I thought architecture would be about when I was studying :)
Wol Euler: but in its own way, engaging and interesting
Qt Core: the old art vs reality fight ?
Wol Euler: something like that, yes
Wol Euler: I was never taught anything about budgets or costing as a student
Santoshima Resident: the tally of parts to build the physical world
Wol Euler: neither my own life nor architectura projects :)
Wol Euler: we always just assumed that clients would have huge bags full of money to dump out at our feet
Wol Euler: I wish now that my tutors had talked about their own building projects
Qt Core: i read many suggesting teaching personal/family finance in high school and i'm pretty sure today architecture courses have some economy courses in it
Wol Euler: it would have enhanced my understanding of the process
Santoshima Resident: yes, personal work experiences shared can be a profound lesson
Wol Euler nods.
Wol Euler: Qt, it's a fair question and I have to admit that I don't know. Perhaps they do.
Qt Core: the question if is they are cleared to tell the numbers
— B E L L —
Wol Euler: sure, confidentiality might be an issue
Wol Euler: on the other hand, building permission plans are public documents and a half hour research would enable anyone with basic knowledge to budget the project to within say 15%
Qt Core: speaking about public "buildings" there are still voices about the bridge between italy and sicily being built ... that would be a big sum
Wol Euler: wow, that would be a huge project. How far apart are they?
Qt Core: dont remember :-)
Qt Core: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strait_of_Messina_Bridge
Santoshima Resident: 3 km! huge
Santoshima Resident: no wait ... reading that incorrectly
Qt Core: and in a quite sismic area ... and with strong current
Santoshima Resident: that's the narrowest
Santoshima Resident: hmm seems a boat might be better
Wol Euler: that seems very ... optimistic
Qt Core: the only good thing (and it is only a recent development) would be the many job positions it'll need
Wol Euler nods.
Qt Core: sometimes strangely parliament do the right thing: On 12 October 2006, the Italian Parliament voted 272 to 232 in favour of abandoning the plan due to the bridge's "doubtful usefulness and viability," as well as the inability of the already burdened Italian treasury to bear its share of the cost. Additionally, transport minister Alessandro Bianchi pointed out that the road and rail links leading to the location of the proposed bridge are not capable of supporting enough traffic to make the bridge profitable. Other reasons for abandoning the plan were earthquake risk, and fears that much of the funds would be diverted to the criminal organisations Cosa Nostra and Ndrangheta
— B E L L —
Qt Core: but it came back and as for the article just past november we got some finanching from China for it ...
Santoshima Resident: wow ... some plans never lose their steam in the imagination
Wol Euler nods.
Santoshima Resident: if there is profit to be had, there will be a bridge
Wol Euler: "who cares if it helps the Mafia, as long as I can get my company on the payroll too"
Wol Euler: yep
Wol Euler: anyway
Qt Core: there is something even better ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strait_of_Sicily_Tunnel ( i had never heard of this)
Wol Euler: if there is only enough demand for six ferries a week, how can that possibly justify a 155 km long tunnel? ridiculous
Qt Core: well ... with the speed increment one could have his beach house there
Santoshima Resident: oh, that's why, of course.
Santoshima Resident: Ok, a request to move a painting ladder that I have left leaning against the house since last October has just come in
Wol Euler: heheheheh
Santoshima Resident: so this is one project that cannot be avoided
Santoshima Resident: thanks for the conversation
Wol Euler smiles.
Wol Euler: bye san, take care
Qt Core: bye San
Santoshima Resident: thanks, Wol and Qt ~ enjoy the evening
Qt Core: still shocked by the tunnel idea ... what next genova-barcellona or italy - greece ?
Wol Euler nods.
Wol Euler: too much money and not enough sense
Wol Euler: IMHO
Wol Euler: anyway, I'm off to bed
Qt Core: or england–norway
Wol Euler: goodnight qt, take care
