The Guardian for this meeting was Eos Amaterasu. The comments are by Eos Amaterasu.

This week's theme of Appreciate the Presence of Appearance as a Presentation by Being had been introduced by a quote from a log (and a link to another log, which begins with a dialog between Stim Morane and Pema Pera, and which is referred to in this session):

Appreciate the presence of appearance as a presentation by Being

Pema Pera: The way to read this is from the end

Pema Pera: There is Being — Being is all there really IS

     Pema Pera: Being presents

Pema Pera: What does Being present?

     Pema Pera: appearance

     Pema Pera: more specifically:

Pema Pera: the presence of appearance

Pema Pera: and what can we do with that?

     Pema Pera: Appreciate it

     Pia Iger: so easy

     Pema Pera: yes!!

Pema Pera: once you learn to subtract, it all becomes very easy.

Pema Pera: easier and easier as you go along

Pema Pera: and “progress” becomes faster and faster

     Pema Pera: almost unfairly so

    Eos Amaterasu: Hi Korel
    Korel Laloix: Heya
Korel Laloix: How aer things today for you?
    Eos Amaterasu: All right...
Eos Amaterasu: anticipating a bit of a storm
Eos Amaterasu: 10 to 15 cm snow, followed by freezing rain and ice pellets
    Korel Laloix: Weather or interpersonal?
    Korel Laloix: OH OK.
    Eos Amaterasu: mabye both :-)
    Eos Amaterasu contemplates that
Korel Laloix: Sounds horrid... I won't be comming to visit any time soon then.
    Eos Amaterasu: don't come now
    Eos Amaterasu: come in June
Eos Amaterasu: or July thru October
    Eos Amaterasu: Hi Eliza
    Eliza Madrigal: Evening :)

    Eos Amaterasu: Our theme.....
Eos Amaterasu: Appreciate the presence of appearance as a presentation by Being
    Eos Amaterasu: ta taaa!
Eos Amaterasu: I really enjoyed that log
Eos Amaterasu: One of the all time best
    Eliza Madrigal: a wonderful conversation
Eos Amaterasu: including all the interruptions :-)
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: I have to admit that when I hear the word "stop" I hear it in Stim's voice
Eos Amaterasu: not sure I've ever heard that
    Korel Laloix: Heya
    Eliza Madrigal: :) Heya
Eliza Madrigal: what did you glean from the discussion Eos?
Korel Laloix: I usualy miss the good ones.. or maybe the ones I miss are good becuase I am not there... smiels
Eos Amaterasu: Some lines I liked:

Pema Pera: one simple sequences I've mentioned recently is stopping-> seeing
Pema Pera: and to learn to stop, we can use appreciation, so
Pema Pera: appreciation -> stopping -> seeing

Eos Amaterasu: appreciation stops you in your tracks :-)
Eos Amaterasu: what is happening then?
Eliza Madrigal: hard to be wrapped up in oneself when captured in appreciation
    Eos Amaterasu: hmm, yes
Eos Amaterasu: and then there's the flip side
Eos Amaterasu: the "presence" of appearance includes you
Eos Amaterasu: is it appearance's presence or my presence?
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
    Eos Amaterasu: I also liked:

Pema Pera: Yes, for me the logic road is one of subtraction, baring appearance,
Pema Pera: and the emotional road is then what gives room for the fullness to show

Korel Laloix: Or sort of like the only thing I remember from physics, the mear act of observing something changes it.
Eos Amaterasu: So when you observe yourself....
Korel Laloix: Trying to remember that term.
Eliza Madrigal: "intimacy with all things" spoken of by Dogen
    Korel Laloix looks up Dogen
Eos Amaterasu: what Pema called "one taste"
Eos Amaterasu: that kind of presence is maybe the devotional/emotional road
Eliza Madrigal: when I observe myself, it is 'in action'... and in a place/time... so how to include the time, place, action... all in observation of "me"....
Eos Amaterasu: impossible to separate, perhaps
Eliza Madrigal: throws into question inside/outside surely
Eliza Madrigal: we talked a little bit about that last night... Kori remarking on newness of place

    --BELL--

Korel Laloix: Trying to understand the language as much as the content.
Eos Amaterasu: (in 90 secs... letting go agenda, more space, the plants come to life, breathe
    Eos Amaterasu: )
Eos Amaterasu: Can u say more, Kori?
Eliza Madrigal: I hadn't keyed into the line about devotion at all before your quoting Eos... during pause considering that
    Eliza Madrigal listens
Korel Laloix: Well.. no.. as I am having to reada nd reread things to understand the meaning.
Korel Laloix: Into shades of English that I am not good in.
Eliza Madrigal: sorry.... my fault.... throwing out pet studies :)
Korel Laloix: Don't slow the chat for me, I will catch up.
Eos Amaterasu: I'd love to hear your own language, Korel
Eos Amaterasu: your own words, that is (in whatever language)
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Korel Laloix: That could be fun.
    Eos Amaterasu: (oh oh :-)
Korel Laloix: I need to get to one of the sessions.
    Korel Laloix smiles

Korel Laloix: Still trying to plan a retreat here, but not sure that is going to happen now.. frowns
Eos Amaterasu: "here" meaning RL here?
Korel Laloix: But please keep going.
Eliza Madrigal: retreat on pause :)
    Korel Laloix: Yes.. Oklahoma.
Korel Laloix: Want to get folks to a powwow and some other things.
Eos Amaterasu: what would the retreat be like?
Eliza Madrigal: I'm touched by the gesture that you'd like us to see your unique world
    Korel Laloix: Well...
Korel Laloix: I sort of have a plan.
Korel Laloix: But the schedule is a bit tricky.
Korel Laloix: But get folks in to OK or where ever.
Eos Amaterasu: the OK state :-)
Korel Laloix: Then have a little group meeting on etiquette and powwow culture.
    Korel Laloix: Yes.. Oklahoma.
Korel Laloix: THen spend a couple of days at the Powow.. I want to drag everyone out to dance... smiles
Korel Laloix: Then my aunts have tentatively agreed to do a class/field trip on Native medicine.
Eos Amaterasu: appreciate the presence of appearance as a dance by being
Korel Laloix: Then I want to take people on a reservation tour.
Korel Laloix: And... force you to eat my cooking... smiles
    Eliza Madrigal: :) :)
    Eliza Madrigal: Hosting :)
Korel Laloix: I do some killer fry bread and ndn tacos... smiles
Korel Laloix: The trick is.. finding a time when I can get the time off, there is a good powwow where you all would be welcome or at least tollerated and during a time of the year where people would not melt.
Korel Laloix: But I seem to have highjacked the conversations... and I did find in interesting.
Korel Laloix: SO where were we?
Eliza Madrigal: one of the loveliest times of my life was dancing in a living room with a group of women I'd met in a writing group online....
Korel Laloix: That does sound fun.
Eliza Madrigal: at some point I snapped a few pictures and whenever I doubt myself I look at those pictures again and realize no... it really was magical
Eliza Madrigal: we were dancing in a circle, all linked, laughing
    Korel Laloix: It can be....
Korel Laloix: Dance can be a very spiritual thing.
Korel Laloix: Or a very sencusal thing... or both.
Eliza Madrigal: some of the women were used to these dances... moon dances
Korel Laloix: My main dance is Fancy Shawl.. and it is really meant to be a courting dance.
Korel Laloix: To show off for the guys.
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal thinks of sufis... and King David...
Korel Laloix: But when I was dating Erin, it was the first time I was dancing for someone in particular.

    --BELL--

Korel Laloix: It was such a rush in my heart and libido.
    Eos Amaterasu: turn-on of appearance
Eliza Madrigal: life's energy in fullness of play
Eos Amaterasu: letting go, subtraction / turning on, fullness
Eos Amaterasu: ah, relates to experience of things brightening up, vivifying when dropping agenda
Eos Amaterasu: appreciate : allow :: appreciate : get turned on
    Eos Amaterasu: presence : mutual
    Korel Laloix looks up vivifying
Eliza Madrigal: Genesis mentions some point during that session... appreciation at the end as well... a kind of circle or spiral... flow
Eos Amaterasu: baby appreciation, spiral, then more full appreciation
    Eliza Madrigal: mmm, yes!
Eliza Madrigal: brightening Korel, lively ... like this wonderful orange color Sun used for her PaB logo ^.^
Eliza Madrigal: (though I'm curious of the actual definiton too)
Eos Amaterasu: yes, maybe the first is playing at appreciating
Eos Amaterasu: and then there's more of a giving up being appreiciating
Eos Amaterasu: it is a great color!

    2013-03-20ElizaKorelEos.jpeg

Korel Laloix: . To give or bring life to; animate: vivify a puppet; vivifying the brown grasslands. 2. To make more lively, intense, or striking; enliven: A smile may vivify a face.
    Eliza Madrigal: Nice! ty
    Korel Laloix: From thefreedictionary.com
Eos Amaterasu: "you've got to lively up yourself" :-)
    Eliza Madrigal grins
Korel Laloix: The thing is, when I first saw you word, my brain went in the wrong diretion.. So I needed to look it up.. What came to mind was.....
    Korel Laloix: vivisection.
    Eliza Madrigal: @@
Korel Laloix: So that was a bit of a mind play for a moemnt.
Korel Laloix: The act or practice of cutting into or otherwise injuring living animals, especially for the purpose of scientific research
    Eliza Madrigal: "alive cutting"
Eos Amaterasu: we want to open up ourselves
Korel Laloix: SO I had a major English wreck there.
Eos Amaterasu: but with our very own nature
Eliza Madrigal: investigation does seem well fitting with appreciation... knowing, exploration
    Eos Amaterasu: nuzzling
Eos Amaterasu: appreciating as grooming behaviour
Eos Amaterasu: all the little details
    Eliza Madrigal: time
Eliza Madrigal: there is something in this conversation quoted too... about sense of place and never being completely familiar with it... always questioning

    --BELL--

Eliza Madrigal: Stim says at some point "the world we seem to live in"
Eos Amaterasu: "Here we are, now what?"
    Eos Amaterasu: whups
    Eliza Madrigal: :)

    Eliza Madrigal: Hi Stevenaia :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: waves
    Eos Amaterasu: Hi Stevenaia
    Korel Laloix: Heya
    stevenaia Michinaga: :)
stevenaia Michinaga: seems the the perfect time for some of us
Eliza Madrigal: really enjoyed reading your story about developing the film and excavating letters... memory is amazing
    stevenaia Michinaga: yes, thanks
stevenaia Michinaga: memories frozen on film unlocked
Eliza Madrigal: and the wisdom of choosing only to open the ends
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
stevenaia Michinaga: oh, the letters?, I would not have guessed how many were in between the 1st and last
stevenaia Michinaga: thinking of scanning one each week
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eos Amaterasu: scanning onto impermanent media?
stevenaia Michinaga: ponders which media you refer to, aren't all media impermanent
stevenaia Michinaga: including the paper I will be scanning
Eos Amaterasu: digital seems more impermanent than analogue
Eliza Madrigal: burying it for a future time ;-)
stevenaia Michinaga: except she does not have the 40 letter I may have written
stevenaia Michinaga: it was very strange when spouse and I re-united after 10 yeears, our scape books fit together like a deck of cards, I had my the pics I took and and same time from the other book
Eliza Madrigal: each with piece of a puzzle, how lovely
Korel Laloix: Must have been a strange set of emtions going through those pages though.
Eliza Madrigal: that's why I wondered at the restraint to open first and last... seems amazing... but even with reading one can't recapture the time... just a glimpse, still I imagine
stevenaia Michinaga: and the spookie, meant nothing then and strangeness when looking back..... don't know who knows hebrew script here but embroider on a denium pant leg was the work "shalom"... when seen in the photo looks like "wife"
    Eliza Madrigal: ohhhh
    Eliza Madrigal: foreshadowing? :)
stevenaia Michinaga: twilight zone music heard
    Eliza Madrigal: appearances presenting :)

    --BELL--

(Eos's Firestorm browser crashed at this point...)

    stevenaia Michinaga: embroidering the future
stevenaia Michinaga: the stange things about the letters for me is I had no clue what I wrote or what of my comments she was responding to, like a one sided telephone call, you only hear half
Eliza Madrigal: it didn't spark your part of things?
stevenaia Michinaga: no Idea I ever knew anyone in Arizona let along run off with them there when I was 13
Eliza Madrigal: haha... does seem very young
stevenaia Michinaga: and I was not clever enough to make that up
    Eliza Madrigal smiles
Eliza Madrigal: about two years ago I heard from someone I'd not spoken to in many years.. and it was amazing for them to begin to cite sights and times we'd seen together, when I had sort of written off my having romanticized it all
    stevenaia Michinaga: smiles
stevenaia Michinaga: I have found old friends give new meaning to past events
stevenaia Michinaga: usually better than I remembered
Korel Laloix: I like that thought.
Eliza Madrigal: adventures :) though, I suspect most moments are really lost... can hardly remember right now what happened in this one day, or appeared to happen
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
stevenaia Michinaga: a good reason to keep friends
Eliza Madrigal: :) never willingly part with them
Korel Laloix: Maybe different for my generation though... I have pictures of me for at least all of my adult life.
    Eliza Madrigal: that's true
Korel Laloix: So there are things to bring back to life the event.
Eliza Madrigal: and with social media now.... harder to lose track entirely
Korel Laloix: Even when you want to.
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Korel Laloix: And worse, people can track you down.
stevenaia Michinaga: or when people track you down and haven't a clue who they are... but they remember you
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: odd feeling, but sort of nice
Eliza Madrigal: especially if they relate some moment in mr so n so's class or some such
stevenaia Michinaga: yes when you ask what they remember
    stevenaia Michinaga: usually smiles
    Eliza Madrigal: :)
Eliza Madrigal: I'd better get some sleep... early appointment tomorrow
Eliza Madrigal: thanks for this time
Eliza Madrigal: (and thank you Eos)
    stevenaia Michinaga: night Eliza
    Korel Laloix: Take care.
Korel Laloix: I should be off as wel.
stevenaia Michinaga: night Korel, hope job is better than expected
Korel Laloix: I t is going quite well.. thanks.
    stevenaia Michinaga: :)
Korel Laloix: wow.. lagged.. can't even stand up.
    Korel Laloix: ciao
    stevenaia Michinaga: :), good dreams
