    Paradise Tennant: hiya korel
Paradise Tennant: how are you tonight
    --BELL--
    Korel Laloix: Wonderfully relaxed.
Korel Laloix: Feeling very quiet inside and comfortable with that actually.. a rare feeling for me.
Paradise Tennant: nice when you find your centre :)
Korel Laloix: It has been a very good week... just what I needed to get ready to head back for my summer term and start looking for a real, post graduation job.
    Paradise Tennant: nods
Paradise Tennant: will be good though school will wind down and then a break a big trip and on to the next chapter
Korel Laloix: Lots of moving pieces for sure.... but they are not really feeling like a burden at the moment... so just sort of enjoying the moment.
Paradise Tennant: what made this such a good week :)
Korel Laloix: I think just coming off of the end of term adrenaline rush.
Korel Laloix: Turning in my thesis.
Korel Laloix: Coming out to this ranch... spending time with Reeba.
Korel Laloix: Getting back into my Faith.
Korel Laloix: And just the general quiet here.
Paradise Tennant: oh wow you are done with your thesis .. that is like a 40 pound weight gone :))))))))))))
Korel Laloix: Well, not done.. but submitted.
Korel Laloix: Still have to do the after parts.
Korel Laloix: So how has life been treating you recently?
Paradise Tennant: yes but sounds like you are over the hump now :)) the rest will be easy something about the end being in sight
    Paradise Tennant: hmm all good
Korel Laloix: We both graduate in December, so that will be a big change.
Paradise Tennant: super busy working hard as always it is what I do ..
Paradise Tennant: yes it so great you have someone to share that with
Paradise Tennant: something very special about going through the same passages
Korel Laloix: I hope that is a good super busy.
Korel Laloix: I don’t mind being silly busy, as long as I see the reason and the end of it coming.
Paradise Tennant: well you get use to it .. why I tend to be quieter in my off time if I can manage it
Paradise Tennant: just need the balance
Paradise Tennant: what would be your dream job korel after all this work
    --BELL--
Korel Laloix: I joke about it, but inspecting saunas on the equator would be lovely.
Korel Laloix: I HATE being cold.
Korel Laloix: But I really want to find a job doing medical research.
Paradise Tennant: yes that would be exciting wouldn't .. any particular area of research ?
Korel Laloix: I have done a lot of undergrad work on the long term health issues of women professional athletes.
Korel Laloix: So I would love to keep that line up.
Paradise Tennant: what kind of issues come with being a professional athlete?
Korel Laloix: But especially under this administration, the proportion of money going to male specific medical issues has gone way up leaving us underfunded.
    Paradise Tennant: yes
Korel Laloix: So you are happy with you present busy?... if you could change to your dream job, what would that be?
Paradise Tennant: there are so many absorbing mysteries
Paradise Tennant: that would be wonderful to solve
Paradise Tennant: kind like pushing up a window blind that is only open a bit so rewarding to make the room a wee bit lighter
Korel Laloix: I was doing some research in my last class for a study on Prion disease.. very fascinating stuff.
    Paradise Tennant: http://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&rct=j&...46471029,d.dmg
    --BELL--
Korel Laloix: Yes, that sort of stuff.
Paradise Tennant: funny how we are so interconnected with everything else . that really is the hinge to practically everything ..
Paradise Tennant: Prion diseases or transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSEs) are a family of rare progressive neurodegenerative disorders that affect both humans and animals. They are distinguished by long incubation periods, characteristic spongiform changes associated with neuronal loss, and a failure to induce inflammatory response. like it is transmitted
Paradise Tennant: what happens you pick it up somehow
Korel Laloix: The epidemiolgoy of it is fascinating by itself, let alone the disease manifestation.
Korel Laloix: Well, for FFI, it is an inherited trait pretty much confined to a couple of extended families... mostly in Italy.
Korel Laloix: But for BSE and Kuru, it is transmitted by eating infected tissue.
Paradise Tennant: so bad meat ?
Korel Laloix: Not "bad" by normal standards though.
Korel Laloix: YOu can't cook out a prion is the issue.
Paradise Tennant: makes being vegan sensible :)
Korel Laloix: YOu would think, but there is evidently one case of a vegan getting BSE.. without a known vector.
    Korel Laloix: Heya
    stevenaia Michinaga: waves
    stevenaia Michinaga: BSE, mad cow?
    Korel Laloix: Yes.
Korel Laloix: Just talking about prions a little.
    stevenaia Michinaga: prions?
    Paradise Tennant: hiya stev :)
stevenaia Michinaga: nice, a new friend at the Playgota
Korel Laloix: Improperly folded, self replicating proteins that mess up nerve tissue..
Korel Laloix: Causes Mad Cow/BSE, Kuru, CJD, etc.
stevenaia Michinaga: I must have those, I cannot fold laundry properly
    Korel Laloix smiles
Korel Laloix: I will remember that excuse...
    stevenaia Michinaga: :)
Korel Laloix: I want to do medical research when I graduate and that is one area that I find fascinating.
Paradise Tennant: we are a mass of little operating systems so delicate really
    --BELL--
Korel Laloix: Heading to bed I think.
Korel Laloix: Thanks for the chat.
    Korel Laloix: Take care all.
    Korel Laloix: See you soon.
Paradise Tennant: take care korel :))
    Paradise Tennant: sweet dreams
Korel Laloix: Thanks... smiles.. you too..
