Wol Euler: my impression is that European poetry of that period was rather indoor
Hana Furlough: it's embarrassing but i know very little about european history and culture

Wol Euler: it is indeed hard to tell *those* amateurs from the professionals, and that's a good thinig
Hana Furlough: i very much appreciate connoisseurs

Wol Euler: I occasionally come across indicators of how obtuse and unthinking I was as a child and young person
Wol Euler: example: I deeply love books and information and talking about both
Wol Euler: I spent (and spend) entire afternoons in libraries and bookstores
Wol Euler: but it never occurred to me that I might become a librarian
Hana Furlough: ahh i see
Hana Furlough: there are many things that never occurred to me when i was young

Wol Euler: yes, it is probably generally true :)
Hana Furlough: i think it must be
Wol Euler: perhaps because kids are biased towards "exciting"
Wol Euler: although architecture is a pretty tame kind of excitement
Wol Euler: so perhaps I just shot down my own suggestion :)

Wol Euler: I was thinking about the library, which used to be part of my Saturday ritual until it moved

Wol Euler: it was conveniently on the way downtown, so I could get books before groceries, but is now out beyond the train station
Wol Euler: on ex-railway land, in what is optimistically called a "new downtown"
Wol Euler: so I have to get groceries first, or backtrack
Wol Euler: and I really hate backtracking
Wol Euler: I will go to quite silly lengths to avoid it
