Aphrodite Macbain: I wanted to start a new me today
Santoshima Resident: how is that going?
Aphrodite Macbain: well- I have a new face...
    Santoshima Resident: :)
Catrinamonblue Resident: new attitude to go with the new face?
Aphrodite Macbain: but I miss my old one
    Aphrodite Macbain: I hope so
Aphrodite Macbain: new paths to follow, new states to explore
    Catrinamonblue Resident: :)
Aphrodite Macbain: letting the past stay in the past
    Catrinamonblue Resident: very important
Aphrodite Macbain: with a little help from my friends
    Catrinamonblue Resident: nods
Santoshima Resident: “The past is never dead. It's not even past.” ― William Faulkner, Requiem for a Nun
Aphrodite Macbain: It's nie to be able to be drastic and change my face. If I did that in RL it would cost 20,000
    Santoshima Resident: just saying
Catrinamonblue Resident: we carry our past wit us but it does not have to define who we are now
stevenaia Michinaga: I sort of did that that once ... no one recognized me until I spoke,
Santoshima Resident: then the typos revealed all
    Aphrodite Macbain: changed your face?
stevenaia Michinaga: stood right next the them and everyone thought I was a stranger
    stevenaia Michinaga: yes
    Aphrodite Macbain: face lift?
stevenaia Michinaga: not exactly, more like hair removel
Aphrodite Macbain: we dont realize how powerful our voices are as identify markers
    stevenaia Michinaga: confused everyone
Ewan Bonham: 's current display-name is "Ewan".
    Catrinamonblue Resident: Hi Ewan
    --BELL--
    Aphrodite Macbain: Hi Ewan smiles
Ewan Bonham: Hi Aphro and all of you folks..
    stevenaia Michinaga: :)
stevenaia Michinaga: much like changing your avatar here w/o your name, no one would know you until you tell them who you are
Santoshima Resident: time to go back to work ... g'nite
Aphrodite Macbain: They might recognize my hair
    stevenaia Michinaga: night San
    Catrinamonblue Resident: night San
stevenaia Michinaga: you can always change your hair color
Hana Furlough: hi ewan and night san
Aphrodite Macbain: yes, but I deliberately kept something from the old me
stevenaia Michinaga: I even changed y clothes so there were no clues
Aphrodite Macbain: so it was your voice...
stevenaia Michinaga: like hiding inside yourself
    stevenaia Michinaga: yes
Ewan Bonham: That is an interesting analogy... hiding within myself..
stevenaia Michinaga: the power of ivisibility
Aphrodite Macbain: how did it feel- to be invisible?
    stevenaia Michinaga: quiet... an observer
stevenaia Michinaga: even my professoes did not regognize me until they realized I wasn;t there so I must be me
    Hana Furlough: wow
Aphrodite Macbain: instead of a stranger visiting
stevenaia Michinaga: like to sawyer at his funeral
    stevenaia Michinaga: *Tom Sawyer
Aphrodite Macbain: Sometimes I come to the pavilion as one of my alts It feels odd not to be recognized and welcomed
Aphrodite Macbain: and to not respond the way I would as aph
stevenaia Michinaga: is this the same as the Power if Vulnerability?
    Aphrodite Macbain: ?
stevenaia Michinaga: something passive becomes a tool,
stevenaia Michinaga: for observing, for brining out something in others
    stevenaia Michinaga: *bringing
Aphrodite Macbain: as opposed to forcing your opinion on someone?
stevenaia Michinaga: I tend to be more oblivious or naeve than noticing I may be vulnerable
stevenaia Michinaga: iv vulnerablility an appearence of what you are to someone, or what you are wheather you are seen that way or not?
    stevenaia Michinaga: *is
Aphrodite Macbain: could you restate that stevenaia?
stevenaia Michinaga: which leads to the question... Are you vulnerable if no one recognizes it?
Catrinamonblue Resident: yes because you recognize it
Aphrodite Macbain: You mean vulnerability is only felt by the person who is vulnerable?
stevenaia Michinaga: I am asking if that is the case
Aphrodite Macbain: I think I can recognize when a person is vulnerable to something - depending on what it is. We can be vulnerable in so many ways.
Aphrodite Macbain: It can be both felt and perceived- in my experience
stevenaia Michinaga: but what if it is not perceived
Hana Furlough: (sneaks out to return to work -- a good evening to you all)
Aphrodite Macbain: the person still feels vulnerable
    Catrinamonblue Resident: Bye Hanna
stevenaia Michinaga: does it require more than one person to be vulnerable
    Aphrodite Macbain: bye Hana
    Ewan Bonham: Bye Hana..
    --BELL--
Aphrodite Macbain: depends on what they are vilnerable to. I can be vulnerable to catching a cold
stevenaia Michinaga: if thre was no cold near , would you still be vulnerable to it
    Aphrodite Macbain: yes
stevenaia Michinaga: what does that mean, to be vulnerable to something that may not exist?
Catrinamonblue Resident: slipping off to go to bed
    Catrinamonblue Resident: night all
stevenaia Michinaga: night cat, hope I didn;t put you to sleep
Aphrodite Macbain: fly well and hi Cat
Catrinamonblue Resident: no it's just late here is all
    Ewan Bonham: Bye Cat
stevenaia Michinaga: just trying to sort through this
    Aphrodite Macbain: what
    stevenaia Michinaga: vulnerability
Aphrodite Macbain: ah. It is a state of being.
Aphrodite Macbain: each person is in a different state and it is contingent on what they are vulnerable to
stevenaia Michinaga: not sure it is a state available to everyoen
Aphrodite Macbain: I am vulnerable to criticism; you may not be. Someone may take advantage of that vulnerablity or not recognize it at all
stevenaia Michinaga: I may be, but if I don;t know it, what then?
Aphrodite Macbain: then you are surprised when you get hurt
Ewan Bonham: Life is a seccession of moments of discovery..
Ewan Bonham: Isn't that how we grow... by using others and socal events as mirrors?
Aphrodite Macbain: like a child growing up, learning their limits and fears and strengths
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, much to learn
stevenaia Michinaga: trying to thing the last time, I think it involved deep friendship or love
Aphrodite Macbain: hmmm. that's my issue
stevenaia Michinaga: with misunderstanding somewhere in there
Aphrodite Macbain: when you love osmeone deeply you open yourself up , making you vulnerable to be hurt
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, trust is what overcomes that if it is shared
Aphrodite Macbain: the other must be sensitive and respectful of this knowledge
Aphrodite Macbain: but trust has to be based on experience.
Aphrodite Macbain: One cannot trust without looking closely
stevenaia Michinaga: yes and understand their intent, which is to hopefully not hurt you
Aphrodite Macbain: It is naive to trust someone just because you love him/her
Ewan Bonham: Yes... we are all capapble of being trustworthy... but we also have to choose to be rustworthy...:)
Aphrodite Macbain: and trustworth about certain things in particular.
Aphrodite Macbain: Like betraying a confidence or abusing your knowledge
stevenaia Michinaga: I usually begin with trust and let things reveal themselves over time
Aphrodite Macbain: That's what I do, and I'm usually disappointed
Ewan Bonham: And i usually begin with an open mind and heart..
stevenaia Michinaga: yes, Ewan, and I have been called naive
Aphrodite Macbain: no judgment either way - yes
Ewan Bonham: For me, it is gradual..
Aphrodite Macbain: Experience tends to counteract naivety
    stevenaia Michinaga: yes,
Aphrodite Macbain: you either get tough, bitter or accepting.
stevenaia Michinaga: that is how I learn
    Aphrodite Macbain: and wiser
    --BELL--
    Aphrodite Macbain: whispers; bye everyone...
    stevenaia Michinaga: night Aph
    Ewan Bonham: Good nigh Steve..
    stevenaia Michinaga: night Ewan
