Adams was the guardian and the comments are Rubbble

Adelene and Pema arrived at the pavilion before me

    Pema Pera: Hi Adelene!
    Pema Pera: And hi Adams!
Adams Rubble: Hi Pema and Adelene...you're early :)
    Adelene Dawner: :)
    Pema Pera: :-)
Adelene Dawner: My new reminder tool is definitely useful there - pings me five minutes ahead and even offers a teleport :)
    Pema Pera: how convenient!
Adams Rubble: Neat stufff Adelene :)
    Adelene Dawner: ^.^
Adams Rubble is always amazed at what sciptors can invent
    Adams Rubble: scriptors
    Adelene Dawner grins and nods.
Adelene Dawner: The hardest part is coming up with the ideas, really.
Adams Rubble: Pema, I had my third PaB dream...all three at almost the exact same time of night
    Adams Rubble: hehe Adelene :)
Pema Pera: And Adams, you did have an SL dream after all, last night :-)
    Pema Pera: ah yes
    Pema Pera: synchronized typing :)
Pema Pera: just saw your log
Pema Pera: you're really beginning to straddle the two worlds, it seems!
Adams Rubble: The repeating might suggest there is more message yet to come for me
PaB Listener Master whispers: The session has not yet been claimed by a Guardian.
    Adams Rubble: OK, OK
PaB Listener Master: Adams Rubble has just claimed the session and will receive link to the log after the session is done. This replaces any previous claim.

Two newcomers, Marisol and Kerkuffle, stoll in and sit down. The newcomers appeared to delight in making light of SL activities. If they came to murder Caesar on this Ides of March, they were instead messmerized (hehe get it?) into wondering about the reality of their own RLs

    Pema Pera: :)
    Pema Pera: Hi Marisol!
    Adams Rubble: Hello Marisol
    Marisol Messmer: hi!
Pema Pera: Come join us if you like
Marisol Messmer: what are you lot up to?
    Adams Rubble: Hello Kerfuffle :)
    Pema Pera: and hi Ker!
Pema Pera: oh, we're just shooting the breeze
    Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: Hey!
Pema Pera: and talking about reality :)
    Pema Pera: and you two?
Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: what did you conclude?
Marisol Messmer: shooting at the wind?
    Marisol Messmer: how odd
Pema Pera: no conclusions so far, Ker
Pema Pera: We get together a few times a day to chat about the nature of reality, and everything else, and we have a wiki http://playasbeing.wik.is/ -- We record our conversations there. Do you mind being included in our blogs?
    Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: nope
Marisol Messmer: oooo I love blogs
Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: but do you not have jobs?
    Adams Rubble: :)
Adams Rubble: We don;t all come to all the sessions :)
    Pema Pera: sure, Ker, why?
    Pema Pera: ah!
    Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: lol

Another avatar pops in and away

Pema Pera: hahaha, I see -- indeed
    Adams Rubble: Hello avatar1:)
    Pema Pera: Hi avatar1
    avatar1: hello!
Pema Pera: what do you both do mostly in SL?
Marisol Messmer: lol Ker, you are sitting like a gay
    Marisol Messmer: um
    Marisol Messmer: well
    Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: oi!
Squee: Deal with the faults of others as gently as with your own.
Marisol Messmer: I think we have done it all
Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: Yes, I do believe that
Pema Pera: Hiram, feel free to join us
Marisol Messmer: but our main goal is always to find the limits of the Tos
    Adams Rubble: Tos?
    avatar1: thank you. later, perhaps!
    Marisol Messmer: Terms of service
Pema Pera: in what way are you testing the limits, Marisol?
Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: We find ourselves using SL as a tool to create mischief
    Adams Rubble: ty Marisol
Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: but within certain rules
Marisol Messmer: or stretching them to the limit
Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: We try and confuse, perplex but without breaking the actual rules
    Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: For example
Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: We have a pair of avatars in which we roleplay with
    Fael Illyar is Offline
Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: those avatars are dressed and have profiles of a Japanese description
Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: We both speak perfect English, but yet we roleplay badly, speak poor English, and generally get it wrong deliberately
Adams Rubble: what happ[ens if someone talks to you in Japanese?
    Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: lol
Marisol Messmer: they use a translator and we say the translator isnt good
    Pema Pera: 日本語質れ?
Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: then we ask to speak English for practice
    Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: hehe
Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: same to you, Puma
    Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: Pema*
Pema Pera: I like Puma :-)
    Adams Rubble: :)
Adams Rubble: I bet Adelene does too

While I was typing this Adelene was edging closer to Puma

Pema Pera: But that certainly doesn't come close to violating the ToS I would think
Marisol Messmer: no this is mild fun
Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: Although it does depend on your definition of harrasment
Marisol Messmer: we once dressed up as police, had sign up asking people for their SL passport on a help island and that got us into trouble
Pema Pera: yes, I can imagine
Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: Yes, I lost an avatat that day :(
Marisol Messmer: it was funny though that people really queued up at our request
Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: and were pleased to get a passport to allow them over sim borders
Adams Rubble looking in her inventory for her passport
Pema Pera: it is an immersive environment, after all . . .
Pema Pera: . . . so people tend to behave as they do in RL
Marisol Messmer: we went to an adaption agency once with a baby saying we wanted to give it up for adoption, all hell broke lose there
    Adams Rubble: hehe
Pema Pera: was the baby a live avatar too?
Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: especially as I pretended to be an abuse father/husband
Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: no, it was a doll
Marisol Messmer: no just an attached doll, I had two women in my IM begging me to get her
Marisol Messmer: buttons were pressed there
Pema Pera: sure I can see that!
Pema Pera: It's tricky, I can see that it is a lot of fun, and that you learn a lot about people, but you can also really hurt someone . . . .
    Falmer Owatatsumi is Offline
Pema Pera: not so much with the passport, that is just fun :)
Marisol Messmer: thats because certain people take this game way too serious
Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: so perhaps a better question would be 'How much of SL is someones reality'
Pema Pera: most people take life too serious -- in one way -- and not serious enough -- in other ways
    Falmer Owatatsumi is Online
Marisol Messmer: I think lots of people allow themselves to believe that what happens in SL is real
Pema Pera: in a way it is
Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: I agree with that
Adams Rubble: Some of it is
Pema Pera: the thoughts and feelings are real
Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: Yes, but based not on reality
Pema Pera: most people take themselves far too seriously, in RL and SL
Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: so are they delusional?
Marisol Messmer: but if you are oversensitive for certain things you risk the chance of getting hurt in RL and SL
Pema Pera: maybe reality ain't real either, Ker
Pema Pera: we are all delusional, I think, Ker
Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: it's far more real than SL
    Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: perhaps
Pema Pera: yes, it looks far more real, for sure
Marisol Messmer: we had a mutual friend who had lost herself so much in SL
    Falmer Owatatsumi is Offline
Marisol Messmer: that it became her life
Marisol Messmer: she once said to us: wherever I go in SL i hear the camera's clicking, people like my avatar so much
Pema Pera: narcissism is a big trap here, yes
Pema Pera: (and in RL too :-)
    Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: definitely
Marisol Messmer: she wouldnt undress her avatar allthough I tried telling her it was no more than a bunch of pixels
Pema Pera: but in RL we are a bunch of atoms
Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: why were you asking her to naked, dearest?
    Pema Pera: what's the difference?
Marisol Messmer: she asked me to go naked for one of her expositions and in return I asked her to do the same
    Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: hehe
Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: there is a huge difference between your own body, and the projecton of yourself on here
    Pema Pera: yes and no
Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: explain the no part
    Adams Rubble ponders rhe difference
Pema Pera: if we view ourselves as our bodies as a bunch of atoms, in how far have we really captured what we are?
Adelene Dawner: I wis hThree were here - embodiment is quite a relevant concept.
Pema Pera: if we view our avatar as a bunch of pixels, what have we left out?
Marisol Messmer: people create a gorgeous avatar here and at one point they start believing its what they actually look like, they become arrogant
Pema Pera: same in RL, Marisol
Pema Pera: people get arrogant when they get good grades in school
Pema Pera: make a lot of money, look pretty
    Marisol Messmer: not really
Pema Pera: I think our bodies is not what we really are

QT is the next to join the group and is given a warm welcome by the newcomers

Marisol Messmer: the one big advantage of RL is body language and expressions, the one thing that gives everyone away
    Adams Rubble: Hello Qt
Pema Pera: yes, SL is still quite primitive, I agree
Pema Pera: but even so, a lot can come across
    Pema Pera: Hi Qt!
    Qt Core: hi all
    Marisol Messmer: hi QC
    Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: Hi Cutey
    Kerfuffle Ballyhoo winks
Marisol Messmer: he's mine, I saw him first
Pema Pera: the point is more: if you see a beautiful paiting, and see, hey, it is all a bunch of pixel -- then you're missing something essential, no?
    Pema Pera: *painting
Qt Core: first of all qt has nothing to do with cute lol
    Pema Pera: *and say
Marisol Messmer: no I disagree, its the person behind the pixels, not the style or the skin or shape they have choosen
Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: and SL only has the projection of your own personality on here
Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: not the complete set
Squee: Let go of the parts of life you honestly don't want.
Pema Pera: sure, but in RL we do role play all the time
Pema Pera: what fraction of what we project in RL is really ours?
Pema Pera: very very small fraction, I'd say
    Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: really?
Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: i think that would depend on the person
Pema Pera: we are so influenced by our environment, our culture, our perceived needs
    Pema Pera: sure, Ker
Pema Pera: most of it we don't even perceive
Pema Pera: we have so little idea . . . .
Qt Core: i see many fight on the streets/motorways if we would be ourselves 100% ;-)
Pema Pera: it depends what you consider "ourselves" Qt
Adams Rubble: Yes, I would think it would be the opposite
Qt Core: i was thinking about letting go of every rational control
Pema Pera: of all that we identify with, what is what we have and what is what we are?
Pema Pera: a great jazz pianist can let go of control and play wonderfully
Marisol Messmer: and a control freak?
Pema Pera: depends on background, training, attitude
Pema Pera: letting go of control too early, yes, that can be very very bad :-)
Marisol Messmer: so what do you think of Gor, as that is all about control?
    Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: aww
    Marisol Messmer: hush boy
Pema Pera: seems to be part of it, but I don't know enough about it
Marisol Messmer: never felt the urge to go and explore it?
    Qt Core: Gor ?
    Marisol Messmer: the Gor sims
Pema Pera: might be interesting -- just don't have the time right now :)
Marisol Messmer: science fiction rp based on the novels by John Norman
Marisol Messmer: In these novels, the word "Gorean" is used to refer to the fictional counter-earth, to its inhabitants and social customs, and to the particular language
    Marisol Messmer: master/slave relationships
Qt Core: ohh got it now
Marisol Messmer: Some of this philosophy is concerned with "natural order" and the relations between men and women, which may or may not take the form of a master-and-slave dynamic.
Adams Rubble: Seems like women get a bad deal at the Gor place
Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: do they have the same thing in Star Trek?

    Steve is next to arrrive

Marisol Messmer: most women who play gor do it voluntarily
    Adams Rubble: Hi Steve :)
    stevenaia Michinaga: hello
Marisol Messmer: steven, I see you are friend of woman in any form, what does that mean?
    stevenaia Michinaga: Ides of March
Qt Core: maybe they used it in some lesser used race
    Pema Pera: Hi Steve!
Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: sorry, i was just getting lost in the melancholy of time
stevenaia Michinaga: I don;t discriminate or have a preference when it comes toward women
    Marisol Messmer: immersing yourself again?
    stevenaia Michinaga: :)
Marisol Messmer: no preference at all?
Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: you are desperate, Stevenaia?
stevenaia Michinaga: on the contrary, accepting
Pema Pera: sorry, have to go, RL is calling (for brunch) . . . good meeting you both, Marisol and Kerfuffle!

Pema leaves and with that the newcomers, sensing the fun is gone along with Puma, leave too

    Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: oh that way
    Marisol Messmer: bye Puma
    Adams Rubble: bye Pema :)
    Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: bye Puma
    Qt Core: bye Pema
Pema Pera: c u soon again, all!
Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: not if we see you first
    stevenaia Michinaga: eyes Pema's cushion
Marisol Messmer: hmmm, with Puma gone its not quite the same
    Adams Rubble: yes
Marisol Messmer: fancy going somewhere else Ker?
    Adelene Dawner purrs at Steve.
    Marisol Messmer: bye all
    Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: yes!
    Adams Rubble: bye
    Qt Core: bye
Kerfuffle Ballyhoo: bye all, lovely meeting you
    Adelene Dawner: :)
stevenaia Michinaga: can I clean house or what?
    Adams Rubble: hehe
    stevenaia Michinaga: hi Qt
    Qt Core: hi steve

Steve comments on Qt's outfit and starts a new thread. I hadn't made the connection and was confused for a while

    stevenaia Michinaga: a trekie
Adams Rubble: It was a very different session :)
    Qt Core: oh yes
stevenaia Michinaga: that show seems to come up here much in discussion
    Adams Rubble: show?
    stevenaia Michinaga: Star Trek
    stevenaia Michinaga: etc
    Adams Rubble: ah
stevenaia Michinaga: have you been here before? Qt
Qt Core: strangely enough for a tv show space was not the only thing they explored ;-)
Qt Core: a couple of times
stevenaia Michinaga: space was jsut far enough away to be able to cover some interesting topics w/o appearing to silly
    Qt Core: or too seriuos
stevenaia Michinaga: silicon life forms jsut wouldn't make it in Mid-town Manhattan, although un Men in black simialr things worked
Adams Rubble: Beam me up would work well if Scotty was the elevator man
stevenaia Michinaga: like octopus life forms in New Jersey, or talking dogs inMid-town
Qt Core: or many things in the ds9 series that spoke about terrorism/resistence
Adams Rubble is telling her octopus friends they are going to have to move
stevenaia Michinaga: that was my least liked part of the series, proably because of that , darn cardasions
Qt Core: but there is even the Maquis part, against federation itself
Adams Rubble is beginning to get lost in space (talk)

Steve wonders about the topic of the day and I fill in Sreve and Qt the newcomers which leads to a discussion of SL behavior and restraints on it

stevenaia Michinaga: sorry to get off topic here
Qt Core: sorry, too easy for me to start it ;-)
stevenaia Michinaga: Adams did you know all of Lost in Space series is on Hulu.com now
Adams Rubble wondering about the topic this morning
    Adams Rubble: no Steve :)
Qt Core: what it was, i come here quite late
stevenaia Michinaga: wil Robinson, my hear
    stevenaia Michinaga: hero
Adams Rubble: It was how to rexplore the limits nof terms of service without being thrown out of SL I think
stevenaia Michinaga: did someone read them?
    Adams Rubble: hehe
    Adams Rubble: not I
Qt Core: ohhh, nice (and a little evil too)
stevenaia Michinaga: hard t discuss without lawyers.. unless you've violated them
    Adams Rubble: haha
Qt Core: started it, good against insomnia
Adams Rubble: Pema engaged them in a talk about reality
    stevenaia Michinaga: "them"?
Adams Rubble: what is real in SL as opposed to RL
    stevenaia Michinaga: which them, Lindens
Adams Rubble: the two people who left with Pema
    stevenaia Michinaga: aww
Adams Rubble: They hadn't considered they weren't real in RL :)
Qt Core: (most discussion (here and not) end in the question about sl reality
Qt Core: and its relation with rl
Adams Rubble: we all are exploring something new
stevenaia Michinaga: for some it is diferent here, for others it;s all reality (like me)
stevenaia Michinaga: just a diferent "place"
Adams Rubble: I think a bit more Steve
Qt Core: then there is the question about being the same here and in rl (i'm almost the same, too lazy to be too different)
    stevenaia Michinaga: nods, Qt
stevenaia Michinaga: so I can expect you to be captain kirk in RL?
Adams Rubble: As much as we want to be free in RL, there are real restraints on us
    Qt Core: ;-)
    Adams Rubble: yes Steve, exactly
Qt Core: without the uniform ;-)
Adams Rubble: we can push boundaries in the virtual world to better understand ourselves
stevenaia Michinaga: there are restaints in both "reality" a physical safety net exists here , but not an emotional one
    Adams Rubble: yes Steve
Qt Core: or to try things we would not do in rl, we use to (try) to control people, here we can go further with the Gor thing
stevenaia Michinaga: many broken hearts lay here
Adams Rubble: I was thinking this morning that eventually we may come up with new ways to deal with that
Adelene Dawner scoffs. "There's not *really* an emotional safety net in FL, either - people just don't have the excuse of not understanding that it's real, as much."
Adams Rubble hesitates to use the words "rules of behavior"
stevenaia Michinaga: gets into moral/ ethical behavior
    Adams Rubble: yes
stevenaia Michinaga: and the hour is almost up
    stevenaia Michinaga: :)
    Adams Rubble: :)
Adams Rubble: but if tthere were morals/ehtics, wouldn't they be slightly different?
    Adams Rubble: hehe
stevenaia Michinaga: well, hair splitting IS what we do here

    Korii then joins us

Adams Rubble: maybe but we need the freedom to explore
Adams Rubble: we can't be tied down too much woorying about things we worry about in RL
    stevenaia Michinaga: hello Korii
    Korii Tiger: hello
    Adams Rubble: Hello Korii
Qt Core: mmm, we have one ethical being here and in rl, don't think it could change a lot
    Qt Core: hi Korii
Adams Rubble: There are often good reasons for morals/taboos in RL

A second visitor comes and goes while we move on to role playing in Second Life

stevenaia Michinaga: many here are into role playing more than in Rl, or perhaps a different kind
    stevenaia Michinaga: yes
Qt Core: they/we just make it explicit
Qt Core: i'm in trek uniform but i don't do (yet) rp
Adams Rubble: It's all so new..we need to be open to the possibilities of different ways of thinking
stevenaia Michinaga: we do if we know it or not
    Adams Rubble: :)
    Adams Rubble: yes
Korii Tiger: i think RP is a choice of interaction and to a certain extent we all sort of RP to express and represent ourselvs.. but in such cases our role is true...but then oen can emirs themselvs into a fictional role and interact with othre character/beings also playing of a fictional role.. which can be fun and enlightening some times chalangaing ... at least for some oen who woudl take the tiem to have fun with it.. rather than th emajority who might rather fall into what ever role comes most naturaly to them.
    MartFader Schwager is Offline
Adams Rubble: yes, Korii..wearing it lightly too
Qt Core: i've found most rp seem to be too serious about it, so you become only the rp role and could not put something about you in it (that's why i haven't joined yet a rp)
stevenaia Michinaga: What keeps you from enjoying RL or RL in SL the same way?
    Adelene Dawner: ^.^
Korii Tiger: Qt thats usualy the case.. and that sort of RP isn't really worth the effort.. i call that "playing pretend with real emotions" it will learn ya tho.. quite a bit.. tho perhaps not always in a pelasent mannor .
    Korii Tiger speaking frome experience.
Adams Rubble: Maybe some of us will learn to do a better job of that Steve
    Korii Tiger: and observation
Qt Core: then there is the fact i'm a little asocial ;-)
Korii Tiger: nothing wrong with that.
stevenaia Michinaga: I often here that from shy exhibitionsits
    Adams Rubble: interesting phrase Steve
stevenaia Michinaga: yet here you are, being social
Qt Core: nice definition, sometimes it could even be
Adams Rubble: Shyness is somewhat inherited
Adams Rubble: we all need to be loved
Qt Core: well, my presence online, started some 10 years ago was dubbed "a socialization experiment" by myself
stevenaia Michinaga: but you didn;t define it as a "shyness experiement"
    stevenaia Michinaga: says something
Qt Core: no, i'm not shy
    stevenaia Michinaga: leaving Korii
    Korii Tiger: not exactly

    korri_001.jpg

Korii comes back as a huge dragon and soon we all are taking snapshots

Squee: Hope is the confusion for  the desire of a thing, with its probability of happening.
Qt Core: just trying something a little bigger...
    Adams Rubble: Oh wow Torii!
stevenaia Michinaga: have a seat Korii, just not on me
    Adams Rubble: hehe
    Korii Tiger chuckles
Qt Core: what name do you prefer, Smaog or Saphira ?
    Qt Core: ;-)
Korii Tiger: Korii will do just fine thanks...
    Qt Core: ok, jk
    Korii Tiger: heh
Korii Tiger: thats what i was in process of doing
    Qt Core: ty
    Adelene Dawner: :)
Adelene Dawner gave you Snapshot : Play as Being Pavilion, Bieup (66, 37, 104).
    Adams Rubble: ty Adelene
    Adelene Dawner: np :)
Korii Tiger gave you Adelene, Stevenaia, Korii Adams..
    Adams Rubble: ty Korii
    Korii Tiger: rrr
Korii Tiger: thats the one Adelene took
    korri_005.jpg
Qt Core: tinking what we need to add for as complete sl postcard ;-)
stevenaia Michinaga: put them on the wiki
Qt Core: a scantly clad woman and a a very elegant ball dressed couple ?
Korii Tiger gave you Adelene, Stevenaia, Korii, and Adams.
    Adelene Dawner: ^.^
Korii Tiger: you should sit closer qt.
    stevenaia Michinaga: nice group shot
Korii Tiger: th oyou're a piff od smoke on my screen.. may you can step into apreances for a briffe moment? that will res yuo for me.
Adelene Dawner: or just press ctrl-alt-r
Korii Tiger: thats for texturs Adelene
    Korii Tiger: thank you Q.
Adelene Dawner: Works for clouded, too, I'm pretty sure.
    Qt Core: np
    korri_010.jpg
    Korii Tiger: yeah?
Korii Tiger: i'll try it next time
    Adelene Dawner: :)
Adelene Dawner: (clarification: He'd have to press ctrl-alt-r to reload his av, for you to see him)
Qt Core: i'm going to try a cloud av to mess with the mind of others sometime ;-)
    Adelene Dawner: :)
    Korii Tiger: thanks.
    Korii Tiger chuckles
Korii Tiger: Adams what are you taking so many pics of?
stevenaia Michinaga: have aura will travel
Adams Rubble: hehe. I am the guardian and will be doing the log
    Korii Tiger: oh ^.^
Adams Rubble: wanted to make sure I have a good one
Korii Tiger rests her chin on the pillow and sighs.
Adams Rubble: You have all made this session a most interesting one
    Adelene Dawner purrs for Korii.
Korii Tiger: i'm sorry i came late. i never know when they're happening..
    Adams Rubble: ah
Adams Rubble: we can help with that
    Korii Tiger: a group?
    Adams Rubble: 1, 7 , 1300, 1900 every day
    Korii Tiger: 4 times day?
    Adelene Dawner: or 1, 7, 1, and 7 SLT
Adams Rubble: you can get a card at the info post there
Adams Rubble: yes, four times a day
Adams Rubble: something for everyone :)
Qt Core: and that is nice
Adams Rubble: sometimes we end up going longer than an hour
Korii Tiger: i think Pema said soemthing about that to me but it was all a bit over wealming at the time.
Adams Rubble: if no one is here, it is just a half hour
Adams Rubble: yes, it is a bit overwhelming at first

    Adams Rubble: OK
    Adams Rubble turns on sound
