    Hello Flower ...

"I know a bank where the wild thyme blows,
Where oxlips and the nodding violet grows..."

    xo - CH

Good Morning Winged Lioness :) ...

Caledonia Heron: hey there Adelene :)
    Adelene Dawner: hiyo
    Caledonia Heron: how are you?
    Caledonia Heron: nice av :)
Adelene Dawner: not bad. :) Still getting used to my new computer, so my typing may be slow. Having a keyboard in my lap is more awkward than I expected.
    Adelene Dawner: ^.^
Caledonia Heron: yeah, a little awkward probably
Caledonia Heron: what big teeth you have!! :)
    Adelene Dawner: hehe ^.^
Caledonia Heron: you are a winged tiger?
    Adelene Dawner: Lioness. :)
    Caledonia Heron: ah, my mistake
    Caledonia Heron: very nice :)
    Adelene Dawner: ^.^

Synesthesia of concepts and colors ...

    Adelene Dawner: So how's things?
Caledonia Heron: ok for me, more centered than past weeks so more focused.... you?
Adelene Dawner: Eh, life being itself. :)
Caledonia Heron: yeah, I think so ... this last merry go round was weird but ok now :)
Adelene Dawner: I've gotten a lot of art done recently, though, which is nice - and finally figured out how to draw synesthesia images, which is *really* cool.
Caledonia Heron: how does one do that?
Adelene Dawner: Well, it varies from person to person I'm sure - assuming that there's anybody oelse out there that even does so, which I'm not sure of. The key for me was finding a brand of crayon/pencil things with wax that acts how I need it to, for the colors and blending to come out right.
Caledonia Heron: ah, ok ... so a synesthesia between words and color?
Adelene Dawner: Concepts and colors/shapes/motion, actually. Sometimes with sound as an intermediary step.
Adelene Dawner: Hard to render motion, though.
Caledonia Heron: a beautiful expression of being, to blend concepts with color .... art is so "now" :)
    Adelene Dawner: ^.^
Adelene Dawner: The really interesting thing is that a lot of it seems to skip conscious awareness altogether, in the drawing process... like yesterday. I was a little bored during the PaB meeting, and decided to do another rendering of the concept 'storge' so I have one to keep and one to send to Mark... what actually wound up on the page was a rendering of what Pema was doing at the time. And I knew it was Pema, but it wasn't 'till after I'd done the drawing and looked at it that I figured out what it was a picture of.
Adelene Dawner: The title is "Reaching for Reality" though that's just as much a translation of the concept as the picture is :)
Caledonia Heron: like a direct link to the "now" of you even if you don't exactly know it at the time ... really interesting
Adelene Dawner: yes, very much so ^.^
Caledonia Heron: an interesting title as we can intellectually know that reality merely "is" and our minds can seek to "reach" for it, like a striving, a going to, somewhere to get to .... our minds play mischief with us sometimes I think :)
    Adelene Dawner chuckles. "mmhmm."
Caledonia Heron: my mind has been particularly mischievious in past weeks, like a little leprechan or sprite going he he he :)
Adelene Dawner: Sounds like fun :)
Caledonia Heron: lol, not so much
Caledonia Heron: I like the calm centered place ... but then that's my mind telling me that .... so, a bit of a pickle!
Adelene Dawner: Calm and centered get boring after a while. What's that saying... they make a better servant than master.
Caledonia Heron: :) yeah, I can see that ...
    Adelene Dawner: :)
Caledonia Heron: balancing the calm center and the passions that inspire us ....
    Adelene Dawner: mmhmm ^.^
Caledonia Heron: lol, for me now, I can redirect all the "passion" I mustered about bad politics to other things .... at least until Jan 20 :)

    Passion and drive ...

Adelene Dawner nods. "I'm... as usual, I guess... in a bit of a wobbly state when it comes to passions."
Adelene Dawner: Too many things I like, and none of them that I like enough to override the others. :)
Caledonia Heron: you seem passionate from my perspective, the art you do, promoting equality issues ... other things probably also :)
    Adelene Dawner: ^.^
Adelene Dawner: I do need to start growling at people about the ND thing. I think Three needed to do the next thing... I should check.
Caledonia Heron: lol, there's that passion!! :)
    Adelene Dawner: :)
Caledonia Heron: I've had the discussion with a dear friend that the expression of self is directly tied to art .... you can be doing anything, the most humble thing and if you are compelled by or performing art that pleases your heart it is a good path
Adelene Dawner: Absolutely. I do tend to use the word 'art' for 'creating things that most people would call art'... but really, life is art. Living is art.
Caledonia Heron: yes, living can be done artfully for sure, art is not just the creation of a thing, a product
Caledonia Heron: you know how it is when you're making something and it's good? and the feeling when you know it's done .... you just know it's finished, there's no more to do because it's complete .... the fabulous payoff :)
Caledonia Heron: the process, the doneness or maybe you know it will never be done but it's ok

    A lesson on Discordianism ...

Adelene Dawner: "living can be done artfully"... that's much more limited than what I meant.
Caledonia Heron: fill me in - maybe we crossed wires :)
Adelene Dawner: All living is art. All living is an expression of self... the part that ...submits to others, that does things that... most people would think of as not-me... that's part of the self, too. And all expression of self is art.
Caledonia Heron: yes, I think we agree :)
Adelene Dawner: There's a saying that's relevant: Fear of consequences is not the same as lack of choice.
Caledonia Heron: I have not heard that before
Caledonia Heron: I would agree with that statement also
Adelene Dawner: Not surprised. It's Discordian. :)
Caledonia Heron: tell me about things Discordian
Adelene Dawner chuckles. "Insofar as that's possible, sure."
Caledonia Heron: lol, ok, the short version :)
Adelene Dawner: It's a religion, or a joke, or a joke disguised as a religion, or a religion disguised as a joke.
Adelene Dawner: It's been around since the '70s, and has a lot in common with Zen, at least in some ways.
Adelene Dawner: One of the most basic premises...insofar as there are any, which isn't very far... is that reality is chaos, and any apparent order is imposed by the viewer, not intrinsic to reality.
Caledonia Heron: interesting .... yes order and labels imposed by the viewer and agreed upon by "the group" as consensual reality
    Adelene Dawner: mmhmm
Caledonia Heron: long ago I had an extended discussion with a large group about how we agree on what is before us, what makes a table a table, how do we agree on what is around us, to make order of what is likely chaos or randomness
Adelene Dawner: That sounds interesting. :)
Caledonia Heron: for sure, questions that pull from the periphery of the human experience, what is it that we see, what is our role, why do we be at all :) easy stuff :)
    Adelene Dawner: ^.^
Adelene Dawner: Discordianism really doesn't tackle those, actually. The tone of it is very much one of being comfortable with unknowns and unknowables.
Adelene Dawner: Which I enjoy. :)
Caledonia Heron: sure, I can see that ... be with it, unknowns and all
Adelene Dawner: Or don't, as you please. ^.^
    Caledonia Heron: lol, funny
Adelene Dawner: Yup, that's Discordianism. :)

Pope soap on a rope ....say it 3 times fast ...

    Adelene Dawner: Another interesting bit...
Caledonia Heron: so the name is taken from opposing ideas being discordant?
Adelene Dawner: Every person in the world is a pope of Discordianism, whether they know it or not. I find that to be an extremely interesting meme, from many angles.
Caledonia Heron: ah, to be the pope,.... so many ramifications :)
Adelene Dawner: mm, I'd have to do some reading to find out how the name came to be. I think it's a reference to order/chaos more than anything, though, concord/dischord.
Caledonia Heron: back in the beginning of J2P2 popeship... there was a novelty gift ... a shower soap in his shape.... pope soap on a rope
    Adelene Dawner: ^.^
Caledonia Heron: so the name reference kind of a ying yang thing?
    Adelene Dawner: Maybe.
    Adelene Dawner: http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Principia_Discordia#THE_SACRED_CHAO
Caledonia Heron: I'll look through it, thanks :)
    Adelene Dawner: ^.^
Caledonia Heron: do you ever do cut-outs as art projects, like Matisse or Kahlo... thinking of starting something new along those lines
Adelene Dawner: hm? Like those things you cut out and glue together with all the tabs? I have, but not often and not recently.
Caledonia Heron: mmm, maybe like that ... not sure I can find a web reference quickly enough
Adelene Dawner: I do enjoy cutting things out, though the tabs on the kinds of things I mentioned are a pain to glue. I do a fair bit of collage, though.
Adelene Dawner reads through that wikiquote page and chuckles. "The enlightened take all things lightly."
Caledonia Heron: collage and it's cousin mosaic are really fun ... fun to do with kids
    Adelene Dawner: ^.^
    Caledonia Heron: lol, great quote
Adelene Dawner: "Sometimes I take humor seriously. Sometimes I take seriousness humorously. Either way it is irrelevant.'
Caledonia Heron: :) seeing both simultaneously.... priceless
Adelene Dawner: Discordianism is a lot of fun. :)
Caledonia Heron: yeah, it can be any way you want which is essentially true anyway :)
    Adelene Dawner: Exactly. :)
    Caledonia Heron: win win
    Adelene Dawner: mmhmm :)

    Hot dogs, hold the bun...

Adelene Dawner: "A Discordian is Required during his early Illumination to Go Off Alone & Partake Joyously of a Hot Dog on a Friday; this Devotive Ceremony to Remonstrate against the popular Paganisms of the Day: of Catholic Christendom (no meat on Friday), of Judaism (no meat of Pork), of Hindic Peoples (no meat of Beef), of Buddhists (no meat of animal), and of Discordians (no Hot Dog Buns)."
Caledonia Heron: lol .... no buns? gosh, a steamed bun at a baseball game, that might turn even one of those heads :)
Adelene Dawner: Ah, but read the first part... "A Discordian is required..." (and actually I think the original text explicitly said that you're required to have one *in* a bun, to break the Discordian rules too...)
Caledonia Heron: LOL, I'm laughing over here
    Adelene Dawner: ^.^
Caledonia Heron: of course you are supposed to have one in a bun also, it's Discordian!
Caledonia Heron: I think I'm catching on
    Adelene Dawner: ^.^

    Adios ...

Caledonia Heron: I think I'll be Discordian now .... I've come and stayed a while, ... now I'll go :)
    Adelene Dawner: ok :)
Caledonia Heron: I'm glad to have talked with you, it was fun :)
    Adelene Dawner: mmmhmm ^.^
Adelene Dawner: See you around :)
Caledonia Heron: stop by tomorrow if you can ... two shows weekly :)
Adelene Dawner: ok :) I'll try, still on vacation tomorrow.
Caledonia Heron: awesome - have fun!
    Caledonia Heron: bye :)
Adelene Dawner: ^.^ Of course :)
    Adelene Dawner: bye
    Caledonia Heron: :)
