Saddle your chicken, let's go riding to Texas ... - CH

    Caledonia Heron: hey Corvi :)
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: How are you?
Caledonia Heron: good :) and you?
    Caledonia Heron: [rezzing]
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: /em nods.
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: good.
Corvuscorva Nightfire: do you mind if I set it to small circle?
Corvuscorva Nightfire: or do you think they'll be alot of us?
Caledonia Heron: no, of course not :)
    Corvuscorva Nightfire smiles..Thank you.
    Caledonia Heron: getting situated
    Caledonia Heron: gosh, fumbly

Caledonia Heron: what's new? did you go to the afternoon meeting yesterday?
Corvuscorva Nightfire: at 1? I was at work.
    Caledonia Heron: yeah, me too
Caledonia Heron: would have like to have gone but it was a no go
Corvuscorva Nightfire nods. I can't go when I'm at work.
Caledonia Heron: I'll have to settle for the transcript :)
    Corvuscorva Nightfire smiles.

Caledonia Heron: love your hair :)
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: thanks!
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: It's my favorite.
    Caledonia Heron: :)
Caledonia Heron: the last time I was goc there was a dialog between Maxine and Pema about appearance
    Corvuscorva Nightfire nods.
Caledonia Heron: [ty for lm :)]
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: welcome.
Caledonia Heron: you were there too correct?
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: mmhmm.
Caledonia Heron: thought so [leaky memory sometimes... processes run wild :)]
    Corvuscorva Nightfire laughs..too much stimulation.
Caledonia Heron: yes, that's what my acupuncturist tells me too :)
Corvuscorva Nightfire: I can't often remember who was at which meeting..there aren't enough cues here.
Caledonia Heron: plus for me time all runs together sometimes .... the threads become one giant thread
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: yes.
    Caledonia Heron: ack!
    Corvuscorva Nightfire smiles warmly.

Caledonia Heron: remember the part where we were talking about we humans being hand puppets and the actual hand is being?
    Corvuscorva Nightfire nods.
Caledonia Heron: what did you think about that?
Corvuscorva Nightfire: I am not ready to speculate on being yet....not really..I do as an intellectual experiment..but.
Corvuscorva Nightfire: I liked Wol's idea....
Corvuscorva Nightfire: of body parts sticking out of a bathtub...just as much as that one.
Caledonia Heron: the analogy is that the bathwater is being? and the parts sticking out are the relative experience?
Corvuscorva Nightfire: or us as cells....popping up and sloughing off.
Caledonia Heron: hmmm, lots of imagery available :)
Corvuscorva Nightfire: I think the whole body is being..the part outside the water being in "reality" and us being little bits of being sticking out into "reality"
Corvuscorva Nightfire: that's my reading of the image, anyway.
    Caledonia Heron: :) got it
Corvuscorva Nightfire: I think I like that one, cause my background in this thinking is science and science fiction.
Caledonia Heron: lol, yes me too
Corvuscorva Nightfire: and that reminds me of the idea of different dimensions...
Corvuscorva Nightfire: and one sticking into another...
Caledonia Heron: I wonder how crazy a list of all the ways to image being / reality would look
Corvuscorva Nightfire: like a point on a plane
Corvuscorva Nightfire: a plane in a cube
Corvuscorva Nightfire: a cube in time
Corvuscorva Nightfire: or ....time in something else.
Caledonia Heron: lots of cubes in time or cubes in an infinite space
    Corvuscorva Nightfire nods.
Caledonia Heron: let's make them spheres, like the curvature :)
    Corvuscorva Nightfire grins..k
Corvuscorva Nightfire: I like them, too...
Caledonia Heron: sometimes I listen to the imagery that each of us gives for being and sometimes one will really bowl me over
    Corvuscorva Nightfire nods.
Caledonia Heron: right about the level of my navel, radiating out
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: ohhhhh
Caledonia Heron: up to my brain
Caledonia Heron: like the puppet idea ... that one got me
    Corvuscorva Nightfire nods.
Corvuscorva Nightfire: It's a lovely one.
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: but..

Corvuscorva Nightfire: what about the intentionality of that?
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: Is being intentional?
Caledonia Heron: I guess it's whatever works for any given person
Caledonia Heron: mmmm, maybe intentionality is something we impose on being
    Corvuscorva Nightfire ponders.
Corvuscorva Nightfire: I think the last two days I've been thinking about that.
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: Is Being intentional?
Corvuscorva Nightfire: cause alot of what we say here, suggests intentionality.
Caledonia Heron: hmmmm, I think in the end it is not but hesitate to drop on either side :)

    Corvuscorva Nightfire grins wide..Gen!
Caledonia Heron: hey there Gen :)
    genesis Zhangsun: Hey Cal!
    genesis Zhangsun: Hey Corvi!
    Caledonia Heron: how are you?
    Caledonia Heron: nice boots!
genesis Zhangsun: thanx yeah getting into the western thing :)
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: those ARE nice.
Caledonia Heron: I will join you .... [rummaging for western shirt]
Caledonia Heron: we were discussing whether being has intention or has intentionality
    Caledonia Heron: cool! nice hat!!
Corvuscorva Nightfire: what is the difference?
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: thanks...

Caledonia Heron: oops, lost Gen :(
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: nice shirt
Caledonia Heron: same thing, said two ways :)
    Caledonia Heron: :)
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: ah
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: ok
    Caledonia Heron: wb Gen :)
Corvuscorva Nightfire is relieved Gen is back..cause neither she nor Cal know the answer....
    genesis Zhangsun: thanks
    Caledonia Heron: lol
    Corvuscorva Nightfire snickers.
Caledonia Heron: don't know the answer but have an opinion .... as always :)
    genesis Zhangsun: ?
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: I'm glad.
Corvuscorva Nightfire: Does being have intentionality?
Caledonia Heron: I'l go back a bit Gen ... ah, there we go, Corvi got it :)
genesis Zhangsun: Oh wow....a bit early for me on that one
    Caledonia Heron: lol
genesis Zhangsun: need to take another swig of coffee
    Corvuscorva Nightfire laughs.
    Caledonia Heron: [slurp]
Corvuscorva Nightfire: or another glass of wine?
Caledonia Heron: night for you Corvi?
genesis Zhangsun: that might be even better hehe
Corvuscorva Nightfire pulls out a bottle and offers to refill Gen's empty glass.
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: no...10:30am here.
    genesis Zhangsun: Oh haha
genesis Zhangsun: I am so slow
genesis Zhangsun: didn't realize I was still holding that
Caledonia Heron: ah ok, well it's 5pm somewhere, thank you Jimmy Buffet
Corvuscorva Nightfire: Gen's holding an empty wineglass.
    Corvuscorva Nightfire grins.
Caledonia Heron: yes, Gen's quite the party girl, carries her glass at all times :)
Talisker On The Rocks : Ice Cold mmmmm!
genesis Zhangsun: Got to keep up my reputation
    Corvuscorva Nightfire laughs
    Caledonia Heron: lol

Corvuscorva Nightfire: wonder if Being intends that.
Corvuscorva Nightfire smiles at the glass of Talisker Gen is now holding.
Caledonia Heron: I'll go back to my point that I think we layer intention on being .... that perhaps being is busy being being
genesis Zhangsun: I neeeded it for the question you asked...its your fault by the way I am not responsible
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: ohhhh
Corvuscorva Nightfire: I like that Cal...*snickers at Gen*
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: Hiya, Pema
Caledonia Heron: [lots of typing motion, can't quite get the thought together]

Caledonia Heron: hi there Pema :)
Corvuscorva Nightfire: Question at hand...does being have intentionality
Pema Pera: Hi Gen, Corvi, Cal !
    genesis Zhangsun: Hey Pema!
    Caledonia Heron: how are you?
Pema Pera: fine, ready for a break!
Corvuscorva Nightfire: [7:29] Caledonia Heron: I'll go back to my point that I think we layer intention on being .... that perhaps being is busy being being
    Pema Pera: and you?
    Caledonia Heron: good!
Pema Pera: hehehe, what a Cal-esque expression!
Caledonia Heron: thinking about jalepeno cranberry sauce :)
genesis Zhangsun: or what about intention is being
Corvuscorva Nightfire: oh, damn, Gen..that's good.
Caledonia Heron: Calesque , I like that :)
genesis Zhangsun: now that is the Southwest Thanksgiving
    genesis Zhangsun: I like

Pema Pera: our kind of intention is definitely not what Being is busy with . . . . ;-)
genesis Zhangsun: yes but perhaps it is how we connect to it
Pema Pera: But intention could be seen as an aspect of Being -- like everything can be seen as an aspect of Being
genesis Zhangsun: perhaps it is all we can know of Being?
Pema Pera: intention is perhaps the best tool to learn to open up to Being
Caledonia Heron: yes, a finer point on it, that intention is an aspect of being
Pema Pera: strictly, speaking, we cannot know Being, but Being knows directly, Being sees, that's why "Being seeing" can be such a powerful exploration
genesis Zhangsun: yes a sort of gateway aspect
    Pema Pera: yes
Pema Pera: we can let ourselves be known by Being
Pema Pera: that requires courage, though
    Pema Pera: and fierce honest
    Pema Pera: honestly
Pema Pera: to let yourself be seen fully by Being
Pema Pera: without trying to hide anything
Caledonia Heron: that's sinking in ... let ourselves be known by being
    Pema Pera: with no shame
Corvuscorva Nightfire frowns...how can we avoid it if Being SEES.
Pema Pera: ah, we cannot avoid, but we TRY all the time!
Pema Pera: once we stop trying, everything stops
Corvuscorva Nightfire: All we can avoid is knowing that Being sees us.
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: if Being IS.
Pema Pera: head in the sand, we all do it all the time
Pema Pera: allowing Being to see implies allowing yourself to see yourself
Pema Pera: VERY VERY hard at first
    Corvuscorva Nightfire mumbles..painful, anyway.
Caledonia Heron: so, seeing me seeing being that sees me
    Corvuscorva Nightfire smiles..that's great, Cal.
    Caledonia Heron: 3 times fast
    Corvuscorva Nightfire snickers.

Pema Pera: letting Being see maybe the simplest way to say it, but yes, we have to start somewhere, so then we can start by seeing
Corvuscorva Nightfire: tries it and stumbles alot.
    Pema Pera: :)
genesis Zhangsun: the part about seeing me seeing myself is a new concept....I know I have been doing it but I have been more focused on seeing beeing then seeing myself
genesis Zhangsun: but it is the same
    genesis Zhangsun: ?
Caledonia Heron: I can not effectively quantify in language what that experience of seeing for me is
genesis Zhangsun: it goes back to personal/universal dichotomy
Pema Pera: me seeing myself may involve two different senses of "me"
genesis Zhangsun: subject/object collapse I think
Pema Pera: I find it fascinating that in alcohol addiction etc recovery programs a similar approach seems to be used; not trying to give up the habit, but letting a "higher self" do the job -- that seems instinctively to work better
Caledonia Heron: sounds like a trick
Pema Pera: but it does seem to work!
Pema Pera: so there must be an "active ingredient"
Caledonia Heron: mental gymnastics .... yes if it works, there is an "active" ingredient :)
Caledonia Heron: does religion fall in that category?
genesis Zhangsun: or perhaps a non active one...stepping away for the higher self
Pema Pera: all of religion is a trick to see (at best) and a trick for gaining power over others (at worst).....
    Pema Pera: yes, indeed Gen!
Pema Pera: Take the twelve-step program: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twelve-step_program
Pema Pera: the process involves the following:[1]

     * admitting that one cannot control one's addiction or compulsion;
     * recognizing a greater power that can give strength;

Pema Pera: that's close to what we're doing!
Caledonia Heron: yes, I get the best/worst comment about religion ... I think that is accurate
Pema Pera: 1) don't try to control; 2) look for Being
    Pema Pera: 1) wu-wei ; 2) seeing
genesis Zhangsun: HAHA but our "addiction" involves our addiction to the self
    Pema Pera: YES!
Pema Pera: pass that joint, my friend (or bottle as the case may be)
genesis Zhangsun: I was hitting the talsiker a moment ago
    Corvuscorva Nightfire giggles.
    genesis Zhangsun: damn I'm weak
    Caledonia Heron: hey Bogart :)
    Pema Pera: hehehe
    Pema Pera: how nostalgic, Cal . . . .
Pema Pera: . . . . those were the days
Caledonia Heron: just joking :) proving I'm culturally literate :)
Pema Pera: "hand it over to me"
genesis Zhangsun: we still say Bogart in my generation
    genesis Zhangsun: ;)
genesis Zhangsun: I wonder if it has the same meaning
    Caledonia Heron: ouch
    genesis Zhangsun: heheh
    genesis Zhangsun: lol
    genesis Zhangsun: nervously
    Caledonia Heron: =hog

Pema Pera: well, Cal was refering to a particular song
genesis Zhangsun: yes it is still the same
    Caledonia Heron: me too Pema
Pema Pera: which is probably not popular anymore
Caledonia Heron: it's in the hall of fame
    Pema Pera: ah! :-)
Caledonia Heron: the pantheon of iconic songs
Pema Pera: together with poor Humphrey>
    Pema Pera: ?
Caledonia Heron: yes, and Ingrid standing on a tarmac
Corvuscorva Nightfire is totally lost here...though she knows she isn't that much younger than Cal and Pema....
    Pema Pera: http://www.lyricsmania.com/lyrics/fraternity_of_man_lyrics_24595/other_lyrics_55166/dont_bogart_that_joint_my_friend_lyrics_564661.html
Corvuscorva Nightfire: might not be younger than Cal.
Caledonia Heron: being knows no time :)
    Pema Pera: :-)
genesis Zhangsun: and SL knows no age
genesis Zhangsun: so I think we are set
    Caledonia Heron: or weight
    Corvuscorva Nightfire laughs.
    Caledonia Heron: or height
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: right.
Caledonia Heron: or fashion do's, don'ts
genesis Zhangsun: speak for yourself ;)
Corvuscorva Nightfire starts laughing more and more.
    Caledonia Heron: haha
Caledonia Heron: we are all tres stylish
    Pema Pera: hehehehe
    Caledonia Heron: tres chic
genesis Zhangsun: yes and we all seem to have a bit of a western thing

Corvuscorva Nightfire: oh there's fashion dos and don'ts in sl...just very different ones from rl.
Corvuscorva Nightfire nods. That's your fault...
genesis Zhangsun: well at least the three Charlie's angels
Caledonia Heron: yes, Pema .... hop on the hossy and get western with us :)
    Corvuscorva Nightfire grins. oh yes!
Corvuscorva Nightfire: I just need short hair and we're all set.
    Pema Pera: hossy ?
    Caledonia Heron: horse :)
    Pema Pera: !!
genesis Zhangsun: get with the lingo Charlie
    Pema Pera: Pema the cowboy . . . .
    Caledonia Heron: what's our mission?
genesis Zhangsun: to see being seeing being being
Caledonia Heron: now, that's a sight .... global citizen from the largest cities NY and Tokyo slowing down for the western life :)
    genesis Zhangsun: couldn't help myself
Pema Pera desperately thinking of things to say in Texanese . . . .

Caledonia Heron: I like that ... to see being seeing being being
genesis Zhangsun: got a vision of that film Cityslickers
Corvuscorva Nightfire laughs "bring it on?"
Caledonia Heron: naw, that's poor politicianese
Caledonia Heron: thank goodness that's almost over
Corvuscorva Nightfire gave you Snapshot : Play as Being Pavilion, Bieup (64, 38, 103).
    Pema Pera: Rollin' Rollin' Rollin'
    Pema Pera: would that do?
    Caledonia Heron: [ty]
    genesis Zhangsun: ty
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: welcome
Pema Pera: Keep movin', movin', movin',
    Caledonia Heron: lol, sho nuf
Caledonia Heron: head em up, move em out....
Pema Pera: Set 'em out, ride 'em in
Ride 'em in, let 'em out,
    Caledonia Heron: lol, nomads
Caledonia Heron: we are nomads of being :)
Pema Pera: not much stopping there, though . . .
Caledonia Heron: we walk/talk, stop, see, walk/talk, stop, see ....

Pema Pera: I grew up with Rawhide, watching it in elementary school, living in a small Dutch village, having NO idea of the context -- thought that Americans were VERY strange people . . .
    genesis Zhangsun: hehe
    Corvuscorva Nightfire laughs..we are.
Caledonia Heron: lol I bet .... a German friend said they had a saying in his town ... (imagine thick German accent) " we will saddle a chicken and go riding to Texas "
Pema Pera: but so is everyone else, . . . .
    Pema Pera: hahaha
Corvuscorva Nightfire: but you should see the image I have of "Dutch"!
    Pema Pera: tell me!
Caledonia Heron: think of wild times in Amsterdam :)
Caledonia Heron: staying on a houseboat
Corvuscorva Nightfire: windmills, tulips, Grocery store chains taking over the world.
Pema Pera: another wild West (of Europe)
    Caledonia Heron: awesome concerts
Caledonia Heron: big market ... finding treasures
Pema Pera: you picked the right places, Cal!
Caledonia Heron: beautiful canals, street art, an organgrinder and monkey who reversed roles to busk for money
Pema Pera momentarily abhorred reading organgrinder
Pema Pera: and realizing that the English language can be tricky
genesis Zhangsun: you really can paint a picture Cal
Caledonia Heron: there was a funny story about someone who said they loved the Dutch .... they stood on the land and pointed out to sea and said ... "we will build a city there" and they did it
    Pema Pera: :)
    Caledonia Heron: now that's determination
Pema Pera: Schiphol is the only airport built at the sight of a formal naval battle
    Pema Pera: site

Caledonia Heron: LOL, had not thought of doublemeaning :)
    Caledonia Heron: sorry
Pema Pera: with the monkey in there!
Pema Pera: thinking about Chinese medicine . . . .
genesis Zhangsun: I'll never get that monkey out of my head
Corvuscorva Nightfire laughs...I'll never get Organgrinder out of my head...
Caledonia Heron: yes, that monkey played the accordion very well too :)
    genesis Zhangsun: :)
Pema Pera: it was a Monkee who got me into virtual worlds . . . .
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: ??!!
Caledonia Heron: ha ha, good one Pema :)
Pema Pera: you still go to Videoranch, Cal ?
genesis Zhangsun: does this Monkee play the accordian too?
Caledonia Heron: yes, was there not long ago
Pema Pera: how are things there?
Caledonia Heron: he probably does Gen :)
    Caledonia Heron: looking good
    Pema Pera: most likely, yes
Caledonia Heron: the fidelity is nice, it's stable, the video tech is awesome
Pema Pera: Corvi, Michael Nesmith, one of the four Monkees, asked me to give a popular talk on astronomy in his virtual world Videoranch, and that's how I got hooked and eventually came into SL !
Pema Pera: videoRANCH the circle is closed!
    Pema Pera: Rollin', rollin', rollin'
    Caledonia Heron: :)
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: ah! *grins*
Pema Pera: All the things I'm missin',
    Good vittles, love, and kissin',

Caledonia Heron: awww rats, I have to go
Pema Pera: it's that time, yes
Pema Pera: good musing with all of you!
    genesis Zhangsun: bye Cal!
    Corvuscorva Nightfire smiles...I do too.
    genesis Zhangsun: Bye All!
Caledonia Heron: yes, :), let's be the be out there :)
Corvuscorva Nightfire is gonna think about intentionality and organgrinders all day.
genesis Zhangsun: I know I thought PaB was about getting monkeys out of your head :)
    Pema Pera: hahaha
Corvuscorva Nightfire nods to Gen and takes a swig of coffee...or something.
    Caledonia Heron: lol
Pema Pera: here's to our Monkey Mind!
    Caledonia Heron: bye y'all :)
    genesis Zhangsun: bye!
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: Bye!
    Pema Pera passing something around
    Pema Pera: bye y'all !
Caledonia Heron: oooo ooo ohhhh, waaaa waaaa
Corvuscorva Nightfire grins and takes it...
    Corvuscorva Nightfire: on home.
