Caledonia Heron: hey there Gaya :)
    Gaya Ethaniel: _/!\_
Caledonia Heron: how are you today?
Gaya Ethaniel: Well, thank you ^^ yourself?
Caledonia Heron: I'm good ... working through some coffee :)
    Faenik loves wells!
Gaya Ethaniel smiles. Hard work that
Caledonia Heron: ah, you have a Faenik also :)
Gaya Ethaniel: Yes he came to live with me now
Caledonia Heron: so there is one and you have it now?
Caledonia Heron: or both you and Fael have one?
Gaya Ethaniel thinks the world doesn't need more than one Faenik... one's handful enough
Caledonia Heron: lol, fiesty little critter eh?
    Gaya Ethaniel giggles
Caledonia Heron: wonder how Faenik got to loving wells so much :)

Gaya Ethaniel: I know... cats normally don't like water
Gaya Ethaniel: But... is the really a cat? mm...
Caledonia Heron: an exceptional cat :) or hairball?
    Gaya Ethaniel giggles
Caledonia Heron: there's a great little animated movie where little pieces of coal scuttle around the furnace room and they look like Faenik
    Gaya Ethaniel smiles. Spirited Away?
    Caledonia Heron: yes :)
Gaya Ethaniel: That also features in his early films, ie Totoro
Caledonia Heron: ah, did not know that ... will add to Netflix list
Gaya Ethaniel: It's one of my favourite of Miyazaki... poetic
Gaya Ethaniel: One of my sister commented Faenik is Fergie ^^
Caledonia Heron: yes, the films are poetic
Caledonia Heron: Feanik dresses a little less provocatively :)
    Gaya Ethaniel: mm...? Gremlin
Caledonia Heron: oh, I was thinking of the singer :)
Gaya Ethaniel: So many Fergies it seems ^^

Gaya Ethaniel: You like watching films then?
Caledonia Heron: yes, very much ... always watching for techniques, shot frames, combination of action/music, composition, stuff like that
    Caledonia Heron: plus the story
    Gaya Ethaniel: ah...
    Caledonia Heron: :)
Gaya Ethaniel: Who's your favourite director?
    Caledonia Heron: hmmm, tough one
    Gaya Ethaniel smiles
Gaya Ethaniel: Give us a few then ^^
Caledonia Heron: I like Sayles, Altman, Scorcese, plus some locals like Linklater, Rodriguez
Caledonia Heron: lots to choose from :)
    Gaya Ethaniel smiles
Caledonia Heron: it's interesting how a film can be used to see into the human condition
Gaya Ethaniel: A variety of styles there though I only recognise a few names in your list
    Gaya Ethaniel nods
    Faenik: indeed?
Caledonia Heron: yes, varied styles to be sure
Caledonia Heron: also to see how a film can move us to see ourselves, how we can move in the world to make a difference
    Gaya Ethaniel nods
Caledonia Heron: and then there's the out and out stupid films that are pure escapism that sometimes actually have a kernel of the human condition embedded
    Gaya Ethaniel smiles
Caledonia Heron: a little iddy biddy teeny tiny something :)
    Gaya Ethaniel giggles
Gaya Ethaniel: So tell us a bit about such films?
Gaya Ethaniel: (not the silly ones)
Caledonia Heron: [more directors coming to me :)]
    Gaya Ethaniel: oh
Gaya Ethaniel: Do you like Denis Lavant?
Caledonia Heron: lol, too early to channel Roger Ebert, the film critic :)
Caledonia Heron: mmmm, don't recognize the name right off
Gaya Ethaniel: He made a few films then stopped
    Caledonia Heron: wonder why
Gaya Ethaniel: IIRC, he didn't want to repeat himself
    Caledonia Heron: lol, ok
Gaya Ethaniel: Last time I heard... he was writing a book based on his dreams... but that was ages ago now so not sure what he's up to
    Gaya Ethaniel googles
    Faenik loves wells!
Gaya Ethaniel: heh... he acted in a film released last year. oh... Werner Herzog was in that film too...
Gaya Ethaniel adds the film in her DVD rental list
Caledonia Heron: ah very serious likely
Gaya Ethaniel: Even the silly ones Cal?
Caledonia Heron: on the flip side... a director that can be just totally out there showing the human experience in a side splitting way is Jim Jarmusch
    Gaya Ethaniel nods... perhaps yes
    Faenik loves wells!
Gaya Ethaniel: Why would you pick in especially for that?
Gaya Ethaniel saw only two films by Jarmusch...
Caledonia Heron: one of the funniest films I ever saw was by him ... pick up Night on Earth

    Gaya Ethaniel: _/!\_
Adams Dubrovna: Hello Gaya and Cal :)
Caledonia Heron: then there's Down by Law... omg :)
Caledonia Heron: hey there Adams :)
Caledonia Heron: we're discussing films and how they might represent a slice of the human experience... how they can provide a window to seeing being perhaps
    Gaya Ethaniel nods
    Faenik: could be
Gaya Ethaniel: How are you Adams?
    Adams Dubrovna listening
Adams Dubrovna: I am well thank you Gaya. and you?
Gaya Ethaniel: ^__^ well thank you
Adams Dubrovna: and Cal, hope you are well
Caledonia Heron: yes, glad to hear you are well Adams :)
Caledonia Heron: good, I'm good :)
Gaya Ethaniel: So... Night on Earth...
    Caledonia Heron: yes, recommended :)
    Gaya Ethaniel added already ^^
Gaya Ethaniel: I was blown away when I saw 'Ghost Dog'...
    Faenik: ah :)
Caledonia Heron: yes, another good one ... others include Stranger than Paradise, Dead Man .... a nice catalog, body of work
    Gaya Ethaniel smiles

Caledonia Heron: how have your 9secs been going?
Gaya Ethaniel: Grouping 9 sec moments I saw you are doing recently Adams
Gaya Ethaniel: Are you doing more?
Gaya Ethaniel: more 9 sec per day?*
Adams Dubrovna: Yes, I am grouping those that are similar on the log for easier reading
    Adams Dubrovna: after they happen
    Gaya Ethaniel: ah... ^^
Caledonia Heron: so there is a pattern or clustering (cataloging question) :) ?
    Adams Dubrovna: hehheh
    Gaya Ethaniel: ^__^
Adams Dubrovna: Yes, cataloging those that are similar
Adams Dubrovna: Often I just stop and it is just a stop
Adams Dubrovna: other times I use the stopping to reflect a little
    Gaya Ethaniel nods
    Faenik: why not?
Adams Dubrovna: 20 or so stops without anything to say bloats the log for reading yet it is a record of what is happening to me
    Gaya Ethaniel nods
Caledonia Heron: it's not bloat, more what's so maybe
Adams Dubrovna: yes, so just grouping them keeps the record

Gaya Ethaniel ponders... 'what is happening to me'...
Caledonia Heron: mmm, are the groups by those codes you use [sorry, must go look]
    Caledonia Heron: [url pls?]
    Adams Dubrovna: rubblebornthoughts.wordpress.com
    Adams Dubrovna: Gaya?
    Caledonia Heron: [ty]
Gaya Ethaniel: Sounds like it's a passive process...
    Cogito Ultsch is Offline
Adams Dubrovna wonders whether Gaya was asking a rhetorical question or whether something is happening
    Faenik: ????^^

Adams Dubrovna: Well Gaya. I am finding I am getting a real energy when I am rigorous about stopping
Caledonia Heron: can you tell me what the codes are please ... or is there a legend on the blog?
Adams Dubrovna: There is a tab for abbreviations
Caledonia Heron: oh, ok, my bad
Adams Dubrovna: The "F" is when I take a couple of deep breaths and then a very fast body scan
Gaya Ethaniel: ah... so you meant that the blog is a record of what you are doing and any related changes ^^
    Adams Dubrovna: yes Gaya
    Gaya Ethaniel smiles
Adams Dubrovna: Sometimes I just record what I am doing
Adams Dubrovna: In a way it is very passive and in another very active
    Gaya Ethaniel: ah...
Caledonia Heron: ahhh, makes a lot more sense to me now ... d'oh, missed the tab
    Faenik: could be
Caledonia Heron: don't remember it being there
Adams Dubrovna: I found early on that a few abbreviations were necessary to try to fit things into 9 seconds
Adams Dubrovna: Otherwise i would be writing for 15 minutes
    Gaya Ethaniel smiles
Adams Dubrovna: never time for anything else :)
Caledonia Heron: yes, shorthand ... gotcha :)
Adams Dubrovna: That happened often early on
Adams Dubrovna: Then I am pausing from the pausing and so on
Faenik is a hairy black ball with eyes and ears.
    Adams Dubrovna: :)
    Gaya Ethaniel nods
Caledonia Heron: you have created quite a history of events and activities :)
Adams Dubrovna: It would be quite a daunting task to try to read it all

    Pema Pera: Hi Serafim!
    Pema Pera: Hi All!
    Gaya Ethaniel: _/!\_
    Adams Dubrovna: Hello Pema :)
Caledonia Heron: hey there Pema :)
Caledonia Heron: how are you today?
Pema Pera: fine, and you all?
Caledonia Heron: good and getting better :)
Pema Pera: Serafim, did you just arrive?
    Adams Dubrovna: I am well
Pema Pera: Do you want to join us here?
Caledonia Heron: Serafim is MIA ... not responding
Pema Pera: haha, well, yesterday she came into SL for the first time really, at a Kira alumni meeting
    Adams Dubrovna: :)
Caledonia Heron: oh, ok, didn't know that
Pema Pera: She is an old friend of mine, who used to live just around the corner from us in Manhattan
Caledonia Heron: thought the name was familiar
Pema Pera: attendede the 2001 Kira summer school
    Adams Dubrovna: ah
Pema Pera: but just beginning to feel her way around in SL
    Gaya Ethaniel: What's MIA?
Caledonia Heron: missing in action :)
Pema Pera: wu-wei, no action !
    Pema Pera: action missing?
Gaya Ethaniel: ah... mia in Korean is a missing child ^^
Caledonia Heron: I like that word, nice to say out loud
    Pema Pera: :)
    Caledonia Heron: wu-wei
Pema Pera: (or like dog and cat fighting perhaps: wu vs. wei ?)
Pema Pera inspired to think about various sounds . . . .
Faenik is a hairy black ball with eyes and ears.
Caledonia Heron: we were discussing Adams blog and it's contents just before you arrived Pema :)
    Pema Pera: yes?
Caledonia Heron: wu-wei, goo-ey, hughey, dewey, louey ....
    Pema Pera: hehehe
    Gaya Ethaniel smiles

Pema Pera: what about Adam's log?
Adams Dubrovna: I have taken to grouping some of the stops to condense thngs a little (after they happen)
Adams Dubrovna: Gaya commented on it
Adams Dubrovna: and we discussed it
    Gaya Ethaniel smiles
Adams Dubrovna: Gaya made an interesting observation about passive-active
Adams Dubrovna: My latest experience is a little of both
Adams Dubrovna: rigorous stopping but not doing anything much while stopping
    Gaya Ethaniel smiles
Caledonia Heron: because you are stopped? :)
Adams Dubrovna: No because I am just stopping, otherwise very active
    Adams Dubrovna: between the stopping
Adams Dubrovna: gaining a tremendous amount of energy
Caledonia Heron: [I was kidding a little :)]
    Adams Dubrovna: ah, sorry
    Caledonia Heron: energy is good!

Pema Pera: can you say more, Adams?
Pema Pera: about rigorous stopping but not doing anything much?
Adams Dubrovna: I seem to more productive than I have ever been - I get very focused on the task
Adams Dubrovna: it seems to eliminate distractions
Gaya Ethaniel nods... refreshed after each stop...
    Pema Pera: that's great, Adams!
    Caledonia Heron: indeed
Adams Dubrovna: maybe it is stopping with a definite reason for stopping, i.e. just stopping
    Gaya Ethaniel smiles
Adams Dubrovna: rather than stopping and daydreaming or wishing I was someplace else
Pema Pera: how is that "not doing anything much"? Can you say a bit more, describing?
    Pema Pera: ah!!
Adams Dubrovna: This morning it occurred to me that it might have something to do with being
    Adams Dubrovna: Being
Adams Dubrovna: but since I am not being very reflective...
    Gaya Ethaniel remembers.... wu-wei
Adams Dubrovna wonders what he is talking about
Adams Dubrovna: anyway, it was just a thought
    Pema Pera: please continue!
Adams Dubrovna: not much of a thought, it just flashed by
Adams Dubrovna: I just remembered it
    Faenik: could be
Pema Pera: rigorous -- radical -- whole sale -- that's by far the quickest approach
Pema Pera: We can solve problems in two ways
Pema Pera: The normal way is by facing them and trying to solve them within the context they are given
Pema Pera: that's often very tedious and also not always possible
Pema Pera: But there is another way, namely to step out of the story in which the problem looks like a problem
Pema Pera: that is the most rigorous and radical way
    Pema Pera: instant solution!

Adams Dubrovna: and that is the stopping?
Pema Pera: that is waking up
Pema Pera: and stopping makes it more likely to wake up and see
Adams Dubrovna has been doing alot of waking up :)
Pema Pera: seeing = waking up ; true stopping stops what blocks us from seeing
    Pema Pera: hehehehe
    Gaya Ethaniel smiles
Pema Pera: stop; appreciate appearance ; see -- it's all very simple
Pema Pera: I'll repeat it a few thousands times, just because I like being persistent, but it's really simple (^_^)
Gaya Ethaniel: Corvi calls it 'poking her head up'
Adams Dubrovna: Some of us need the repeating :)
    Caledonia Heron: :)
Pema Pera: oh, I need too!
    Pema Pera: nice, Gaya!
    Gaya Ethaniel: ^^
    Pema Pera: bird like move!
Caledonia Heron: nice to know people who speak this language
Pema Pera: yes, Cal, nice to be here together, to talk this way
    Adams Dubrovna: :)
    Gaya Ethaniel nods
    Faenik: indeed?
Caledonia Heron: and more, to know that it is a real thing, that it available and known to many, in different types of ways
    Pema Pera: !!
    Adams Dubrovna: yes
Pema Pera: and right here and now, not in a distant land long ago . . .
    Gaya Ethaniel nods
Adams Dubrovna: or in the future....
Caledonia Heron: that's more what I mean about the language.... I guess more accurately a shared experience
    Pema Pera: yes
Gaya Ethaniel: We understand what each other means even though expressed differently which is neat ^^
    Adams Dubrovna: :)
Pema Pera: very much so, Gaya

Pema Pera: And Adams, how are Tonto and Silver?
Caledonia Heron: sometimes my antennae are better tuned than others ....
    Adams Dubrovna: :)
    Gaya Ethaniel smiles
Adams Dubrovna: They want to be in the blog too
Pema Pera: do they have an idea of self?
Adams Dubrovna: Hmmm. I said nayyyyyy
    Pema Pera: hahaha
    Gaya Ethaniel smiles
    Caledonia Heron: ha ha :)
    Pema Pera: just "hi-yo, away . . . . "
Pema Pera: away from the whole context in which self seems to make sense
    Pema Pera: drop it all
    Pema Pera: just apprecaite
    Pema Pera: appreciate
    Adams Dubrovna: Hello Fael :)
    Pema Pera: Hi Fael!
    Gaya Ethaniel: _/!\_
Caledonia Heron: hey there Fael :)
Pema Pera: Hello and Goodbye Fael!
Fael Illyar: Hi Pema, Gaya, Cal, Serafim, Adams :)
Pema Pera: I have to get back to RL . . .
Gaya Ethaniel: Enjoy your day Pema ^^
    Caledonia Heron: me too :)
Pema Pera: say hi to Serafim if/when she wakes up!
    Adams Dubrovna: Bye Pema :)
Fael Illyar: ah, hi and bye :)
Gaya Ethaniel: Have a good day Cal ^^
    Adams Dubrovna: bye Cal :)
    Caledonia Heron: bye everyone :)
Fael Illyar: have a good day :)
